It was over their relationship had come and gone. Maybe it was better this way. A bittersweet feeling consumed them both. Watching as Lucas left her porch and she went back inside closing the red front door behind herself.
Lucas made his way to his car and was taken aback by the sight of Peyton. They had agreed to go together but it wasn't officially anything but an outing between friends.
At least that's how he saw it.
"Luke. I've been wanting to catch up with you." Peyton said.
"Yeah i was with Brooke. We were talking and." Lucas began to say.
Before she kissed him.
Lucas stepped back staring back at her wide eyed.
"I love you Lucas. I'm in love with you. The feelings i have i've had back on being honest about. But i can't do it anymore." Peyton confessed.
"I love you Peyton as a friend. Someone inportant in my life."
"But as a couple there is something missing and i don't think anything should move forward past that kiss." Lucas explained.
"I didn't think tonight would end like this. But i should let you go." Peyton replied. As she turned from me defeated.

Brooke found herself staring at a photo album of snapshots featuring her and Lucas. Her mind wondering back to the reception. Their dance. Her thinking she was pregnant.
It seemed so far away now. Yet it felt so recent.
Her and Lucas were going to be friends. They could deal and handle it like young adults.
But the ache in her heart where Lucas once was ached. Feeling raw and newly torn open.
How do you be friends with someone you were in love with? Brooke thought to herself.
