Since the Yeqon incident, Adam and Eve reunited in marriage by ordainment of the Archangels.
Within a year, Eve was already pregnant.
Jumella was happy that her parents were back together, blissfully unaware of the tension between them since their enforced reconciliation.
One morning, Adam had been tending to the sheep when he spotted a winged figure approach the settlement.
His eyes narrowed as a familiar Angel approached, "It's you."
The lieutenant from the Heavenly Host. The one who had…spared Jumella from birthing a Nephilim that day.
Clad in the same armor as before, she spoke coldly, "Hello, Adam. Eve."
Eve, her stomach now wide, glared at her, "What are you doing here?"
"Orders of the Seraphim," the Angel spoke curtly, "since the Watchers deserted, Heaven has grown concerned about your family's safety. Lord Michael decided to dispatch a section of his host to oversee your protection."
"And they send you?!", Eve shouted.
Adam sighed and pleaded tiredly, "Eve, calm down…"
She pointed furiously at the Angel, "She stabbed our daughter!"
"As would have been done with you had any of your children not been of Adam's seed."
Silence between the three of them.
Eve glared, "Who else would they be?"
"Who else…", the Lieutenant whispered before eyeing Eve's stomach, "No angelic aura…good to see you're playing the part of the faithful wife very well."
Eve squirmed under the Angel's fierce gaze and turned to her husband, who looked contemplative.
"Adam, when she sees her, what would Jumella think?"
"I already know, Mama."
Jumella approached.
"Jumella, she…"
"It was for the good of Creation, Mama," Jumella spoke calmly, to which the Lieutenant smiled.
Eve stared at her daughter in shock. At the devotion evident in her tone.
"Sweetie…", Eve began before she let out a groan.
The baby had just kicked. She needed to lie down.
Her daughter took hold of her hand.
"Mama, you promised that we would reconcile with the Angels, that WE would do our best to redeem the sin within us."
Jumella gestured towards her and her mother's bodies.
Eve gave a sigh and gently reciprocated her daughter's hand. Then, she gave a nod of assent to Adam.
The patriarch turned to the Angel, "So…what was your name again?"
"You will not need to know my name. Simply address me as Lieutenant."
Adam rolled his eyes and scoffed, "Alright then, Lute."
…
Adam and Jumella exited Abel's compound and flew out of Imp City.
Jumella spoke, "I'll be heading off to Cain and Aclima's farm. You coming?"
Adam grimaced, "Pass."
He had wanted to finally get back to the actual Extermination ongoing in the Pentagram. And not eager to lose his lunch looking upon his eldest spawns.
A dazzling light sparked on several nearby rooftops. Out popped so many newly formed Sinners, still in a daze from being pulled to the afterlife.
Adam gained a vicious grin, "New prey all lined up."
While her father vaporized the newcomers with angelic light, Jumella felt her hand being squeezed.
She turned to find no one there. Only a faint mist. In the shape of a skeletal Vulture clad in a black cloak.
Jumella blushed and let out a soft giggle as the mist dissipated, to which Adam responded with an annoyed sigh.
"Keep your mind on task, Jumella," he scolded.
Jumella nodded, "Yes, Daddy," and continued on her flight.
…
"Seth…Azura…settle down."
Jumella felt as if she was at her wits end trying to wrangle two fighting children: a small boy and an even shorter girl.
Her younger siblings. But unlike what was between her, Abel, Aclima, and Cain, Jumella was placed in a more parental role, having to care for them when their parents were too busy.
"Stop it."
They were shoving each other. Pushing. Slapping.
"You stop!"
Sighing, Jumella approached and tried to break up their fight. Gently.
Azura wiggled out of her grasp and elbowed her in the stomach. Where her scar was.
She felt a stinging pain, which caused her to flash back to what…happened on that day.
She grabbed Azura roughly by the arm.
"I said…Settle. Down."
She heard the sound of a bone cracking.
Jumella gasped, released her sister's arm, and backed away.
Seth looked terrified.
Azura began crying, "Mama!"
"N-no, Azura, I-", was all Jumella cold
As the children hurried away, she let out a soft whisper, "I'm sorry."
She collapsed on the ground. Breathing heavily.
What had she just done?
Jumella flinched when she saw a winged shadow approach her.
Feet touch the ground.
Turning around, she breathes a sharp sigh of relief to find the shadow belongs to a feminine figure.
"Jumella!"
Eve marched to Jumella's location only to be caught by surprise by the sight of her daughter crouched down on the ground, her eyes drooped down, and her waist wrapped by a pair of black wings.
She couldn't help but feel a chill when the Angel sent a glare her way before returning to comforting Jumella.
…
"How is our girl doing?", Lute, her uniform already awash in demon blood, asked her Commander.
"The whore started up some trouble, but Eve put him in his place."
Adam laughed uproariously at his own joke while Lute stared stoically, with the briefest glimpse of a sneer growing on her face.
"And what about you, sir?"
"What about me, Danger-tits?"
"How are you about…", Lute paused, "the upcoming hellspawn?"
Adam stared for a moment before giving off a chuckle and shrugging, "Fine, you know me, babe."
"Sir, the Seraphim approached me…"
Adam glowered at her pause, "Go on"
"They wanted me to monitor you and…Jumella's moods when interacting with the Morningstars."
Her Commander snarled, "Why the fuck now?"
"They're worried that the whore queen's pregnancy could provoke an emotional response that might stir up an incident due to…past experiences on Earth."
Adam sighed and rubbed his forehead.
"Those fuckers…"
"Sir!", Lute reprimanded at his tone.
"She's done this for millennia without fucking up!"
"Sir…"
"She isn't falling! No fucking way!"
"Adam!"
He turned to his lieutenant, who grimaced before giving him a reassuring smile.
"I swear I'll report back to them that Jumella is as focused on the Extermination as ever. And that no hellspawn the whore could squirt out could change that."
Adam felt himself calm down.
He flashed a sheepish smile, "Thanks, Lute."
"It's nothing, sir. Merely my duty."
…
The Lieutenant was on her patrol in the skies when she heard a distant voice: "Excuse me?"
Looking down, she saw Adam standing in the fields.
She flew down, "Yes?"
"Um…I wish to thank you for what you've been doing for my family."
"It is merely my duty. Continue to hold to your end by multiplying and I will continue my patrol."
"No."
The Angel turned her head, "Hmmm?"
"No, there's more to it than that. I've seen how you are with the children. Jumella's really taken to you."
"The girl has suffered enough due to the failings of her parents."
Adam froze, then took on a look of shame.
"You…you don't look like the other Angels."
She gave him a stare.
"You look so…human."
The Angel took off her helmet, revealing her short white hair.
"You don't remember me, do you? From Eden?"
Adam shook his head, "The only Angels I knew back then were the Seraphim and…", he paused before groaning in disdain, "him."
"Think back. To the Eden Rebellion."
Adam was stunned. He flashed back:
He was in the Garden of Eden during the midst of a war between the Heavenly Host and Lucifer's minions.
He needed to get to Eve. Make sure her and their children that she was carrying inside her were safe.
One of Lucifer's lackeys has fired off a beam of angelic light.
Adam was sure he would be caught in the blast when one of the Heavenly Host, who had the shape of a human woman like Lilith and Eve, flew down and knocked him out of the way.
"That was you?"
The Angel nodded.
"Thank you."
"Do not get any ideas."
Adam looked at her, confused.
"The last thing this world needs are any more Nephilim running around."
What?
"That was not what I…"
The Angel took flight, leaving Adam standing on the ground.
