Team Mystic arrived in China and met the leader of Team Fanrong, Yuxuan. After seeing the intense training those in Fanrong go through, the team could see they're up against some powerful opponents, and there's still one member they don't know about. Despite that, they have to be ready. At the moment, they're at their hotel and waking to a bright day.

"What a beautiful day!" Yukina said as they gathered in the lobby.

"You can say that again. What are we going to do? What are we going to see today?" Marcus said.

"We're not here on vacation. The tournament is going to start and we need to be ready." Felix claimed.

"Boy, I'm really excited! I can't wait for it to start!" Kent said.

"Don't worry. It will be here before we know it." Cindy said. "Anyway, I got an email from Justin last night and there's a video attached to it." They all gathered around as Cindy pulled up the email she got and played the video.

"Hello, everyone." Justin said as he and Sabaro were on the video. "I hope things are going rather well. Since your first match is coming up, we thought it would be best to go over the rules of the tournament."

"The rules? Oh yeah. We still don't know how this tournament is going to work." Yukina said.

"Doesn't matter. All we have to do is win." Marcus claimed.

"Here's how the rules work, and they're rather simple." Sabaro said as he went over them. "Each battle will consist of three matches since every team consists of at least three members. The team that wins two of those three matches advances in the tournament."

"So it's best out of three match. That doesn't sound too hard." Felix said.

"Like I said, we just need to win." Marcus said.

"The battle order has been labeled as the following: the vanguard, the advancer, and the leader." Sabaro said. "However, you're free to choose any order you want."

"That's really all there is too it, but for you mission, it would be best you try to remain in the tournament." Justin said. "Best of luck to all of you." That was all that was on the video.

"Well, that seemed rather easy." Cindy said. "We just need to win two out of three times. We just need to decide who is battling when."

"It's just like I said. All we have to do is win." Marcus said. "It's obvious that Yuxuan is going to the leader. He said that he was the leader of Team Fanrong himself. He'll be the toughest to beat, which is why I will be the leader for our team and take him on."

"What?! You the leader?!" All of them said in surprise.

"How about not?" Kent said as he didn't like the sound of that.

"Marcus, you're getting too ahead of yourself. You can't decide something like that on your own. This has to be a team decision." Felix said.

"But I'm our best duelist. It's only right that I should be the leader." Marcus said. "That's why I should be the one to take on Yuxuan."

"But...if we lose the first two duels, you won't even get a chance to duel." Kent said.

"What?! You mean it could be over before I even have a chance?!" Marcus said as he didn't like that. "In that case, you two have to win!"

"Marcus, if we win, you still won't get to duel. It's a best out of three match." Yukina said.

"Besides, we can't be so sure that Yuxuan is going last." Felix said. "He might be the one deciding the order and choose to go first instead."

"No way!" Marcus said as he's making this more difficult than it needs to be. "I'm positive Yuxuan would go last since he's the best, and I want a chance to duel! Felix will be up first! You have to win! Yukina will go second! You have to lose! I'll step in and finish it!"

"What?! Get over yourself!" Yukina said with annoyance. "We're not throwing a duel just so you can have a turn! If you want to duel so badly, just be in one of the first two matches!"

"But I want to be the leader!" Marcus said as he acted like he was having a tantrum.

"What a baby." Kent said as he was snacking.

"Hold on. Kent, where did you get that?" Yukina questioned.

"It was in this gift basket. It was left in our room." Kent said as he revealed he's been hogging the gift basket for himself. "By the way, I think these are for our three official members." He said as he handed packs for them.

"Sweet. A new card for each of us." Yukina said as she took them and handed one to Felix and Marcus. They opened them up and got new cards. "Not bad."

"I can work with this." Felix said.

"Snow Magician?" Marcus said as he stared down at his card. "No way. I don't need something like this in my deck. My deck doesn't even need improvement. It's already the best"

"Don't diss it so soon." Yukina said. "It might come in more handy than you think. Anyway, I think before we decide on our battle order, we should try to find out about the third duelist on Team Fanrong. We still don't know anything about him. Maybe if we go talk to them, we might be able to meet him this time."

"Sounds good to me. It's worth a try." Cindy said.

"But I thought we already agreed on our order." Marcus said, but the others ignored him and went on ahead. "What's so wrong with me being the leader?!" He called as he just went after them. As they were on their way out, they were surprised to see them running into Yuxuan and Jaw-Long.

"Yuxuan! Jaw-Long!" Yukina said.

"Yukina! I see you're full of energy in the morning." Yuxuan said.

"Why are all of you in a hurry?" Jaw-Long asked.

"We were on our way to meet you." Kent said. "We were hoping we could meet the third member of your team. It's only fair."

"Actually, we were on our way to get him ourselves." Jaw-Long said, but none them understood. Wouldn't he be with them already? "His name is Muyang, but he doesn't come by as much as he should."

"Follow us. We'll show what we're talking about." Yuxuan said as he and Jaw-Long showed where this Muyang might be, but Team Mystic is getting the feeling that there's something a little off about all of this.

...

City Square

Yuxuan and Jaw-Long brought the others along and they soon found themselves at the city square. They looked around for this Muyang, but Team Mystic has no idea what this Muyang even looks like.

"Do you see him?" Yuxuan questioned.

"There he is." Jaw-Long said. All of them looked and saw a bunch of girls gathered around one guy. He had tanned skin with flowing brown hair. He wore a blue Chinese top with a gold dragon on it and wore white pants.

"One at a time, girls. I'll get to all of you." Muyang said as the girls seem to love him like he was an idol.

"That's Muyang?" Yukina questioned.

"Instead of training, he's doing this?" Marcus questioned.

"That's right." Jaw-Long said like he was embarrassed to admit it. "Muyang holds a carefree personality. Honestly, his attitude is quite insulting to what Fanrong stands for. Don't get the wrong idea. He is a skilled duelist, but he cares more about looking cool." That's unexpecting for someone on Team Fanrong. He would rather flirt with girls instead of dueling.

"Muyang!" Yuxuan called and got his attention.

"Oh! Hey, Jaw-Long and Yuxuan!" Muyang greeted. "Is this important? I'm a little busy."

"Important? The Worldwide Supreme Tournament will begin for us soon. Instead of flirting, you should be preparing." Yuxuan said.

"Just chill." Muyang said as he didn't seem to care. "I'm just like resting before the big event like a boxer does before the match."

"Funny. You seem to do that even when you don't have an upcoming match." Jaw-Long said. "Muyang, you are representing our very foundation. You need to take this serious."

"There's no reason to get so worked up. It's just a silly game." Muyang said.

"Just a silly game?! Are you serious?!" Marcus called as he didn't like that either and ran straight over to him before the others could stop him. "Who do you think you are?! This is the biggest tournament around! Duelists from all around would love to have the opportunity to compete! You're saying you don't care?!"

"Chill out, little dude." Muyang said. "There's no point in getting so worked up over just a mere card game. Besides, with my skill, I would probably win since there wouldn't be much fun or a challenge." He claimed as he walked away from Marcus and to a stand. "Now, which of you lovely girls want a nice drink!" They all were getting giddy for him.

"Hey! Don't ignore me!" Marcus said as he got right in Muyang's face. "I don't like how you're bragging like that when you're thinking of competing." Suddenly, Muyang poured his drink right down on Marcus' head.

"Sorry, but you look like you need to cool down." Muyang said with him and his girls laughing.

"Muyang!" Yuxuan called. "You do well to show these people some respect! They are who we will be going up against."

"These guys?" Muyang said as he had a look at each one of them. "Well, at least two of them look like they could make this interesting." He claimed as he walked right over to Yukina and Cindy. "Hi there. What do you say after the match, I treat you two lovely ladies to a nice meal?" He said and winked right at them, but Yukina and Cindy felt chills running down their spines.

"This guy has some nerve." Kent said with Felix getting annoyed.

"Hey! Will you quit giving me the cold shoulder?!" Marcus called. "My name is Marcus Zimmer, and as the leader of this team, I'm not going to put up with your obnoxious attitude! Duel me right now and just show us how skilled you are!"

"We never agreed you were the leader!" The others shouted.

"You want me to duel?" Muyang said with him cleaning out his ear. "No thanks. You are so unchill. All your shouting is giving me a headache. Look, I really don't get why you're so upset. I'm not even thinking of competing in the match. You should be glad to hear that."

"Are you saying I can't beat you?!" Marcus said as he was getting more and more irritated.

"This guy really is obnoxious." Yukina said as she was getting annoyed with him herself.

"Now you see what we're talking about." Jaw-Long said.

"Muyang!" Yuxuan called. "Whether you duel or not is my decision as the leader! I don't care if you're bored, tired, or whatever petty excuse you have! I also will not stand for this disrespectful behavior of yours!"

"Why is everyone getting so worked up over nothing?" Muyang said.

"It's because it's not over nothing." Yuxuan said. "Besides, if you're so sure that you would win, prove it. Duel our new friend here and show your skill. Otherwise, you look like you're just simply running away because you know you can't win."

"What? Now that isn't cool! I so could!" Muyang said.

"Yeah, Muyang!"

"We want to see you duel!" The girls cheered as they would love to see that.

"Well, I don't want to disappoint the ladies. Mason, was it? I'll take you on." Muyang said.

"Good, and I'm taking you down!" Mason said. The two of them moved this duel to an open space with Muyang's fan club loving this.

"At least we'll be able to see what all three members of Team Fanrong are capable of." Felix said.

"Are you ready?" Muyang questioned.

"I am. Just you watch." Marcus said as he was set to go with no intention of losing.

"Let's duel!" Both of them said as they were getting started.

"I'm going first! I'll start by summoning Windwitch Glass Bell!" Marcus said as he summoned out one of his witches with 1500atk points. "I place two cards facedown and end my turn!" 'I'm all set. With Tuners Barrier, Glass Bell can't be destroyed, and I'll have my Synchro Strike ready for when I synchro summon next turn.'

"Here we go!" Muyang said as he drew his card. "First, I'm summoning Lyrilusc Cobalt Sparrow!" Muyang summoned a small lady dressed like like a sparrow with it having 0atk points. "Next, I'm activating Lyrilusc Sapphire Swallow's ability from my hand! I can now summon her and another little feathered friend! I'll summon Lyrilusc Celestine Wagtail!" He summoned out two other small bird ladies with 100 and 200atk points. "I now activate Wagtail's ability, which allows me to add Lyrilusc Phantom Feather to my hand." He said as he took the card. With that, I'm now overlaying all three of my little friends!" A large X appeared on the field with all three of them flying into it. Once they did, a pillar of light shot to the sky. I xyz summon Lyrilusc Assembled Nightingale!" He summoned out a fully grown bird woman, but she had 0atk points.

"What good is that monster going to do with no attack points?" Marcus questioned.

"Just chill and watch." Muyang said. "Nightingale gains 200atk points for each overlay unit it has!" He said as his monster now had 600atk points. "Now, I'll place one card facedown and then activate Double Cyclone! By destroying one of my spell or traps, I can destroy one of yours!" He played his spell and a cyclone came in and destroyed both cards.

"No! My Synchro Strike!" Marcus complained.

"And now I'll think I'll have Assembled Nightingale attack!" Muyang said.

"Attack? I don't know what you're up to, but I activate Tuner's Barrier! This will prevent my Glass Bell from being destroyed!" Marcus said as he took a cautious approach.

"Jumped the gun. Not cool." Muyang said. "Nightingale can attack you directly, and can attack for every overlay unit it has!"

"Are you serious?!" Marcus said. Nightingale attacked by unleashing fierce powerful blasts of wind right at him. Marcus' life points constantly dropped down until they reached all the way to 2200.

"Marcus got way to ahead of himself and lost a card." Cindy said.

"Actually, I think he's lucky." Felix said. "Nightingale can have unlimited overlay units. If it had five overlay units, this duel would have been over already." This duel might be tougher than they thought.

"I told you this would be easy. I place one face-down and end my turn." Muyang said.

"That's it! Now I'm getting annoyed! I draw!" Marcus said as he drew his next card. However, he was surprised to see it was the card he drew Snow Magician. 'This card? I must have slipped in my deck when I chased after the others. Well, I don't need this card. My deck was great just the way it was.' Ignoring what he drew, he took a different approach at things. "I special summon Windwitch Freeze Bell to the field!" Marcus said as he summoned out another witch with it having 1200atk points. "Now, I tune my level three Freeze Bell with my level four Glass Bell to synchro summon Windwitch Winter Bell!" He called as he started the synchro process and Winter Bell soon emerged on the field with 2400atk points. "Next, I'm activating Winter Bell's ability! You lose 200LP based on the level of a Windwitch in my graveyard!"

"Sorry, but that's not going to happen! I activate Nightingale's ability!" Muyang said. "If I use one overlay unit, I take no damage and my Lyrilusc's can't be destroyed this turn!" Nightingale used one overlay unit and sent out magic that completely nullified Winter Bell's power.

"So it can attack directly multiple times and make the battle phase pointless?! No wonder this guy is cocky!" Kent said.

"But there is a weakness. Nightingale's power revolves around having overlay units, and now it has one less." Felix said as Nightingale's power dropped to 400.

"I activate Monster Reincarnation! By sending one card in my hand to the graveyard, I can get back my Glass Bell!" Marcus said as he discarded his new Snow Magician and got back his Glass Bell. "I'll summon Glass Bell back to the field and just be simply ready for next turn." He claimed as he brought his witch back.

"Well, I think it's time we put an end to this." Muyang claimed. "It's my turn!" He drew his next card and still kept his cool as he was planning to end it there. "I'll start by summoning Lyrilusc Beryl Canary, and it's special ability brings back Cobalt Sparrow in my graveyard!" He said as his two little birdies emerged with Beryl Canary having 0atk points. "Now, I build the overlay network once again!" He opened up the network again with both of his monsters diving in. "I xyz summon Lyrilusc Ensemblue Robin!" Muyang summoned out a new monster as it flew out with 0atk points. "And she gains 500atk points for each overlay unit she has!" He claimed as her power rose to 1000. "And now, I'm activating the Chaos Feather Storm trap! Since I have two xyz winged-beasts, all the cards on your field return to your deck!"

"Are you serious?!" Marcus said. That was when both of his monsters flew around Marcus' field and was forming a tornado. Both of Marcus' witches were caught in it and were blown back into his deck.

"Now, I'm activating Overlay Regen to give Nightingale another overlay unit so that she has the power to end this!" Muyang said as Nightingale gained another overlay unit and her power rose to 600 again. "Attack now!" Both of his monsters attacked him directly and their combined powers was enough for Muyang to win this duel.

"No! I can't believe I lost to him!" Marcus complained.

"Sorry, but was there really any other outcome?" Muyang said with the girls loving him even more. "See, Yuxuan? There's probably no need for me to compete."

"The tournament is the day after tomorrow! Be prepared!" Yuxuan called.

"What?!" Muyang said.

"If you're this skilled and powerful, there's really no reason for you not to compete!" Yuxuan claimed. "It's time for you to get serious!" It seemed like it didn't matter if he won or lost. Muyang is still going to compete whether he wants to or not.

...

The Hotel

After that, Team Mystic went back to their hotel. Marcus was still rather upset that he lost that duel. You could tell by how he was sulking.

"Sorry you lost, Marcus." Yukina said.

"But at least we now know what to expect out of all three members of Team Fanrong." Felix said. That didn't exactly make Marcus feel any better. Just then, Cindy was getting another message.

"We're in luck. Looks like Team Fanrong already submitted the battle order." Cindy said. They all took a look and saw the order was Muyang, Jaw-Long, and Yuxuan. "It's Muyang, followed by Jaw-Long, and Yuxuan is last."

"So what are we going to do about our battle order?" Kent questioned as they still haven't had one.

"Hold on. It also looks like Muyang left a message for Marcus." Cindy said with Marcus listening. "No hard feelings, Mason, but I'm taking you down in the tournament. Let's just be sure to make it quick. I've got a date later."

"What?! He didn't even get my name right!" Marcus shouted as he was even more irritated. "That's it! I can't stand that guy! Guys, I'm going out for the first match!"

"Really? You want to be the vanguard and not the leader?" Yukina questioned.

"Just say yes so he'll shut up." Felix said.

"Works for us. I'll battle order will be Marcus, Felix, and then Yukina." Cindy said as that sounded good to the others.

"Just wait, Muyang! You're going down!" Marcus said as he still wasn't cool, but was on fire now.
