Drunken confession
Sara vaguely hears the sound of hasty strides getting closer mixing with a raged breathing being exhaled, before a couple of knocks on the door pulls her out of her light sleep state.
She can't help but tense up, taking the kunai she hides under her pillow to walk cautiously towards her front door with it hidden behind her back. Sara pauses for a moment, before she opens it slowly yet ready to attack, but to her surprise, the man she finds at the other side of it isn't an enemy but one of her men.
- Uesugi? What are you doing here this late at night?
She asks puzzled by the sight of the young man in front of her with his hands on his knees while fighting to breathe.
- I… apologize… for waking you up… at such ungodly… hours, general Kujou…. It just happens that… Lady Guuji… is at the headquarters…. arrested.
He says breathlessly, before he takes a deep and long breath as soon as he finishes talking.
- Excuse me!? – Sara exclaims shocked, the hold she has around the door's handle tightening.
- Ah, there's no need to worry general! She's just drunk, but we've thought you'd like to know about it right away.
The young man quickly answers, appeasing his general with his explanation yet not completely.
- Thank you for telling me about it, Uesugi. I'll go to the headquarters to take care of it personally. Please, take it easy on your way back.
Sara says, seeing the young man nodding while breathing more evenly, before he salutes her and walks off slowly.
The general can only sigh heavily as she closes the door of her house to head inside her bedroom, throwing the kunai over her bed as she begins to put her uniform on to then walk towards the headquarters to release a certain pink haired and apparently very drunk woman.
Sara can't believe her eyes when she enters the cells and sees a very rosy faced priestess sat unceremoniously on a chair, gazing up just in time to give her a cheeky grin.
- Little bird!
Yae greets her loudly and very drunkenly, waving at her and Sara can't help but click her tongue and roll her eyes at it.
- Lady Yae.
Sara answers sharply in return as she walks closer, seeing Yae pouting while frowning.
- My, my *hic* there's no need to be so *hic* cold and formal, my *hic* little bird.
Yae whines while Sara makes a gesture to the guard to open the cell where the pink haired woman is in, before he leaves them alone.
- Do I even want to know what did you do? – the general exhales, carry on talking before Yae can answer her with any of her witty come back – You're lucky my men decided to tell me about this and not arrest you for disorderly conduct.
- Oh, come on, my little bird *hic* it was only *hic* some drinks.
Yae says cheekily as Sara surrounds her waist to help her to stand up.
- Yeah, some drinks… – the general exhales again as she helps the drunken priestess to begin walking – Now let's get you back home safely so you can sleep it off.
She says tiredly while Yae takes a step and just before her legs wobble and she stumbles forward. Luckily for her, Sara catches her right before she can fall to the ground, taking her in her arms instead.
- So strong, my general~
Yae purrs against Sara's collarbone with her nose buried in the crook of her neck, making the stoic general blush, before the dark purple haired woman grumbles and begins to walk out of the headquarters to her home with Yae in her arms.
At some point along the walk, Yae falls asleep in her arms, her head buried further in the crook of Sara's neck as a smile takes over her features, making the pink haired woman look quite peaceful.
Sara can't help but look dazedly at the cute and peacefully expression adorning the face of woman in her arms, sighing lightly while carrying the sleeping beauty with a soft smile adorning her own lips, before she opens her house's door with some difficulties, trying to close it slowly not wanting to wake up the drunk priestess.
As she's walking towards her bed to lay the pink haired woman on it and take her sandals off before tucking her in, she hears Yae mumbling something against her neck.
- I love you…
Sara hears her whispering quietly, shocking her to the point of almost dropping the other woman to the floor, before she feels Yae nuzzling her neck, mumbling more incoherent words into it as a deep blush takes over stoic woman's cheeks.
The general can only look at Yae surprised, seeing the sweet and happy expression adorning her face while she keeps sleeping as nothing, and can't help but feel her heart pounding hard against her ribcage, smiling softly at her.
She quickly pulls herself back together and finishes laying the lovely drunk woman on her bed to take her sandals off as she aimed to from the start, before tucking her in, leaving a soft caress on her rosy cheeks and a kiss on her forehead.
Of course Yae would chose a moment in which she's completely drunk and sleeping to confess to her and tell her for the first time that she loves her. But Sara has to admit she's kind of happy Yae had chose that exact moment to do it so she couldn't see the blush tinting her cheeks nor hear and tease her about how fast her heart was beating against her ribcage.
- I… I love you too.
Sara confesses quietly, blushing harder than before as she looks at the woman on her bed with nothing but fondness.
- Sleep well, Yae.
She wishes her as she lies next to her to wrap her in her arms and keep her warm, not noticing Yae's smile widening as she scoops closer to the general happy to hear her reciprocating her feelings.
