Mother's Day
A soft humming fills the kitchen, mixing with the chopping of vegetables and the light babbling of the rice cooker as Yae prepares their lunch.
The sound of rushed small footsteps soon joins the particular melody making the pink haired woman's ears twitch on alert at them, before she hears the footsteps slowing down their pace until they come to a nearby stop, right behind the kitchen's wall.
A quiet giggle escapes her lips upon the subtle attempt of her little intruder trying to be sneaky, before a soft smile spreads across her lips as she sees out of the corner of her eye a small patch of dark purple fur peaking through the doorstep giving her little fox away. And yet, Yae decides to play along with the little one, still humming as she keeps preparing their lunch trying to make the little girl believe she doesn't know she isn't alone any longer.
At the other side of the kitchen's wall, a small girl with dark purple fox ears and tail hides observing her mother, her head poking out through the doorstep to see her mother still busy cooking, just to hide back before the older woman can see her, pressing her small hands against her mouth in an attempt to quieten her little laughs.
Yae can't help but smile wider at her daughter's cuteness, her heart bursting out of tenderness at it as she decides to indulge her in this unspoken game of hide-and-seek, looking at her poking her little head out of the corner of her eyes yet trying to look too focused on their meals to even notice her.
This goes for a couple of times more, before the small girl pokes her head through the doorstep just to find the spot where her mother was cooking empty.
The little one can only frown and pout sadly at this, her small hands leaving their support against the wall to step to a side timidly ready to search for the older woman, when suddenly, she sees her mother's pink hair and fox ears like hers appearing out of nowhere, before she feels her tickling her.
- Got you, sneaky!
Yae exclaims as the little one begins to giggle then laugh more openly while her mother keeps tickling her, and before Yae takes her in her arms and pulls her up to leave a kiss on her cheek, smiling widely as she hears her sweet giggles filling the kitchen and sees her sparkling amethyst eyes looking at her with wonder and happiness in them.
- Happy mama's day!
The little girl exclaims happily, throwing her arms around her mama's neck to pull her into a tight hug and kiss her cheek loudly, and Yae swears she could cry out of happiness right there, choosing to hug her lovely and sweet daughter tightly instead.
- Aw, thank you, my little fox.
She says, hearing her daughter giggling more while the older woman peppers kisses all over her face. The little one can only leave another kiss on her cheek, before she pulls away lightly, still secure in the pink haired woman's embrace.
- I've got something for you!
- Aw, really?
Yae asks softly, her heart fluttering as she sees her endearing daughter nodding excitedly to then show her the gift she has gotten for her in such a special day, rummaging in the pockets of her pants, before taking out of them a small shiny light blue rock.
- I've found it the other day when mommy and I were walking through the forest!
The little girl says and Yae feels her heart about to burst from so much happiness and tenderness, taking the shiny light blue rock in her free hand to look at it with affection.
- Aw, it's beautiful, my sweet little fox – she says softly, not trusting herself to cry as she sees her daughter smiling radiantly, before she gives her another tight hug.
They stay like that for a while, before Yae sets the little one on the floor, watching her running away to greet her mommy with a hug as soon as she sees Sara entering their home.
- Happy mommy's day!
Yae hears their daughter yelling at Sara, seeing her jumping right in her arms to hug her tightly and give her a loud kiss while Sara giggles and peppers their daughter's round face with kisses just like she did minutes ago.
- Aw, thank you, little one.
She hears her wife saying as she goes to their room to place the small shiny rock on her dresser, finding the gift rather endearing.
Yae can only giggle at it, before she feels a pair of strong arms circling her waist to pull her into a back hug, feeling her wife leaving a kiss on the side of her neck.
- Happy mama's day, my love.
Sara wishes her ever so softly, tightening her hold around her as Yae giggles and a couple of timid tears escape her eyes.
- Happy mommy's day, my love.
She whispers back, giggling a bit more as she turns to kiss her wife, seeing her smiling warmly, before giving her a white carnation that makes her heart swell full of love.
Yae can only inhale the sweet fragrance of the white carnation to then place it beside the small shiny rock their daughter gave her for such a special day.
- Look at what our little fox gave me – she tells her wife playfully, hearing Sara chuckling – Like mother, like daughter, don't you think?
She says while laughing amused, seeing her wife blushing embarrassed while groaning as they recall the first gift that a rather timid and naïve general gave her after their first date, a small shiny purple rock that was a deeming and worthy gift of crows.
Both women can only look at the pair of small shiny purple and light blue rocks together and at the white carnation accompanying them endearingly, before Sara leaves a kiss on Yae's head.
- I've got you a gift too.
She tells the pink haired woman, seeing her turning to look at her curious while Sara grins at her wife unabashed and takes out of her pocket a shiny pink feather.
Yae can only roar with laugher, covering her mouth with one of her hands to quieten her laugh while she takes the lovely feather with her other hand and looks at it with a mix of amusement and wonder. She then looks at her wife with utter love, seeing her winking at her as her grin fades into a warm smile and she leans to kiss her deeply.
- I love you.
Sara tells her and a couple of tears manage to escape Yae's eyes, resting her head against Sara's chest as she presses a kiss over where her heart is.
- I love you too.
She whispers sincerely, loving how both her wife and daughter made her feel in such a special day, as well as the rest of the days, before they pull away and she places the pink feather with her lovely small collection of shiny rocks careful that it doesn't fly away.
- Let's go to see our little fox so we can cook all together.
Sara says, kissing her wife's head as they walk hand in hand towards where their little fox daughter is playing, seeing a happy expression illuminating her precious features as soon as she sees her mothers together and giggles fill their house.
