OMNISCIENT TEACHER VIEWPOINT
CHAPTER 1
'Epilogue' and 'Eternity'
'Those decisions that I made, friends who I made along the way, the events that lead up to this…'
'Those memories felt like ages by this point.'
'All of them ended with me Trapping myself in eternity, inside this last train that never stopped moving…'
'I wonder what they're doing now, about how their life looks after all the scenarios ended. I was assured that they're doing fine now, but I couldn't help but be curious…'
'More than anything It could just be me feeling alone, the endless scene of this car train moving across the city.'
'Across day and night.'
'Across the exchange of seasons.'
'I lost count of it already…'
'But then again I told myself this…'
'This is the price for saving them all…'
'With that logic, that one name of 'Demon King of Salvation' doesn't seem so bad…'
'I'm sure those who left have already found a way to keep the world going or he has awakened from his sleep.'
'Either way… I was assured that my existence is all but obsolete…'
The lone figure in white coat spoke to himself, lazyly looking at the scene that he had witnessed in an endless loop, a world in muted colors
'Ugliest King'
'King of No Killing'
'King of A Kingless World'
'Demon King of Salvation'
'Watcher of Light and Darkness'
'Prisoner of The Constrictive Headband'
He had many names.
But the current one that stuck with him is none but one…
'Oldest Dream'
.
..
…
He saw his surroundings dipped into darkness, realizing the sudden change he could only look outside the train's window and asked. 'Did this train go through a tunnel or something? This has happened before but not for this long…'
'Did something happen?'
Before long another change occured.
One within himself.
Fizzle.
Then a prick inside his head.
'That small sensation was enough to throw off my balance, my head felt really heavy for one moment.'
'Something happened.'
'Something definitely happened.'
'My head never felt dizzy like this before and why did my vision go blurry too?'
'Feeling all of this prickling sensation inside my head while being trapped in the darkness is not helping at all.'
'I was overwhelmed by the pricking sensation inside my head and now the train is rumbling as well.'
'I felt the pessimism rising inside, this could not lead to anything good.'
'Is my consciousness collapsing? But why?'
'It felt like an abrupt ending to my existence or a rough start to something…'
Then a sudden light shone bright through the train windows, covering his eyes. He internally struggled with the abnormal situation. 'At first I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me, but the vibrant sunset sky painted before me is definitely real. While adjusting my own eyes I found it looked almost ethereal, different from the endless cityscape that I got used to.'
'Yet the sudden sensation inside me jolted me awake, it was as if it told me 'you're not alone here'.'
By reflex he tried to look around while still adjusting his eyes, then he raised his head upon realizing there was another figure sitting right across him.
A pair of curious eyes are looking back at his own. They belonged to a girl with odd looking hair. Sporting a hair with two tone colors of light blue and pink, she looked like she belonged to a whole different genre of life.
The decorated white uniform that looked neat and gave an air of authority did not help his notion either.
The man in white coat sighed internally while keeping one last detail to heart…
One that really raised his utmost concern.
The angelic halo above her head.
Looking at her again his heart grew cold because another major concern is rising. Her white uniform is stained with blood that stems from a wound on her chest.
he tried to speak, trying to reach out to her first.
But…
She spoke first…
"I tried my utmost to save what's important to me… but it left everything in ruin."
"Where did I go wrong…"
"It was supposed to be my responsibility."
'Her words caught my attention, facing her like this felt as if I was hearing to myself.' He thought to himself, hiding his anguish. 'If I found out about everything about the scenario and failed, wouldn't it be her but me sitting there?'
When that thought left his mind he felt dizzy for the second time, at the same time several fragmented memories flashes before his eyes.
A girl who was bound with red threads on a dark altar.
Another girl who slumped down with a hopeless look in her eyes, drenched in the rain.
Another girl placed a cross inside a rundown cathedral.
And another one…
Then another one…
Another…
Another…
It just won't end, those terrible glimpses of misfortunate fates.
It was just too much to handle.
"Is this what happened to your world?!"
He spoke and immediately gritted his teeth, preventing himself from speaking any further.
'I didn't know what stirred me up to give such a response. Is it the painful look on each of their faces? Is it the hopeless situation that they faced?'
'Or was it her, the one who shouldered everything and failed to protect them.'
'I can only return a saddened look at her as our eyes met.'
'It was out of regret for her.'
'No comforting words could ease her pain, to see your world torn apart and your loved ones picked off one by one like that.'
'At least not from me…'
So he waited for her to speak as she didn't let her sights get away from him, not even once.
It was not like the look on her eyes allowed him to look away.
At that point she took her chance to speak.
"I've spoken of responsibility before…"
The wounded girl said in a bated tone.
his eyes widened, 'did she really say that to me while holding a pained smile?…'
"I didn't truly understand it then…"
'Damn it, it's that stinging sensation again.'
"But now I do…"
'Her words continue to echo inside my head.'
"Adulthood, responsibility, obligation…"
"..."
"..."
"..."
'I can't keep this up, my head felt like it was being torn into pieces.'
'I can't remember what she said after my mind went black, it felt like my walls of defense were dismantled by each word that left her lips.' Losing his consciousness he let out one last thought. 'How can you say all that while holding a hopeful smile.'
.
..
…
"Therefore Sensei…"
'Sensei?'
'Me? '
He was not sure how this happened and how she managed to do it, releasing him from something akin to a prison was no short of a miracle, it felt like eternity when he spent all those time in that endlessly moving train, mindlessly thinking about the past, and then he found himself here.
His eyes are extremely heavy, he refused to believe it, yet a couple of glimpses only confirmed this so-called 'miracle'.
Vast blue sky with rings that stretches across the horizon, It was quite a view from a tower that stretches into the skies in the middle of a modern cityscape.
He found himself seated on a couch as reality dawned on him, the man in white coat found himself in the right in the middle of the city inside his visions, one that could only be accessed by the highest authority.
Based on his views from the flashes of partial memories, being summoned here is akin to being summoned inside in the middle of a political warzone, which could only mean one thing for him, who was definitely an unknown element in the city.
Trouble.
'Summoning someone who's not an ordinary human or an ordinary living being is a concern in itself.'
'Summoning said someone inside the so-called artifacts that equals a national treasure is just like asking for a problem, you're practically poking a sleeping bear with a stick. You're setting me up as a suspicious person at best and a terrorist at worst!'
He stopped his train of thoughts and started to form a basic understanding of this world, feeling that the 'Sanctum Tower' is taking notes of his presence and that also means the entirety of this Academy City of Kivotos is doing the same.
"Did she really have to land me here out of all places?!" Finally he voiced his concerns across the large empty room, meant to cope with his situation more than anything. "If you dropped me here to help with the apocalyptic scenarios that are about to happen, at least drop me somewhere better… Even the Abydos dessert would be better! Heck the Millenium ruins would be better!"
"There has to be something!" Racking his mind into overdrive he tried really hard to figure out a plan or the reason why she brought him to this specific place, her office should be keeping something that others won't have access to.
Surprisingly enough, even to himself the answer was simple, his answer lies on top of the large table where a single ID card is conveniently placed so he could take it as soon as he is awake.
Picking it up the man in white coat could see the usual ID numbers and the usual details that come with it, but the logo that was printed in the middle of it caught his attention the most.
The name 'S.C.H.A.L.E.'
"Schale? I swear I saw glimpses of it somewhere, who or what was associated with it… Think, come on, think…" The man in the white coat pondered.
But then he noticed the name registered in the ID and questions were being raised immediately.
It was his name, one that stirred his memories to the days before he locked himself inside an eternally moving train.
Holding that thought he muttered silently. 'I never told her that my name is Kim Dokja… How did she…'
He didn't have the time to finish his thoughts or come up with any plan, the doors placed on the opposite side of the room started to bump while small voices of concern could be heard coming from the other side.
Bump!
The man followed his instincts amidst the rising tension and sat under the large desk immediately, preparing his fight or flight response.
"She's here, Isn't she?!"
"There's a major spike in the energy signature reading coming from the Sanctum" "Whether she is there or not, we have to know whatever is happening in there."
"The General Student Council President is not available as of now."
"You can't say that when the energy plant in Millenium failed suddenly while an energy spike appeared out of nowhere inside the Sanctum."
"We're here for different matters but it might be linked, a prophetic dream that we would like to discuss with the president."
"So Gehenna and even Trinity came to the same conclusion."
"Did Millenium manage to pick up the foreign energy mass? Surprising."
Whoever spoke outside the room were speaking about names that he experienced during his flashes of memories, Millenium, Trinity and Gehenna, the three main leading schools inside this Academy City. 'Calling it a city is an undersell, this feels more like a failed state with each faction rife with internal and external conflict.'
'I didn't even need much to know that whoever they represent needs a trust issues consultation club.' He internally sighed.
'That's why if I have to sort things out here I'd rather not be involved with them as much as possible.'
Then the commotion continues.
"Officer Rin is the one who holds the authority, she should be back soon."
"Excuse me, why isn't she here?"
"She is handling the Independent Federal Investigation Club, she should be here as soon as she is finished, you could wait especially if you're here just to blame the Student Council for the recent fuss."
'They're certainly not getting along in any sense.'
"Officer Rin is in trouble, Excuse me?! Could you repeat that!"
"She was en route to the S.C.H.A.L.E. building when a riot between gangs happened?"
Before long all that he heard was about forming up a plan about how the makeshift group would tackle the current conflict, then steps could be heard that reassured him that those who tried to enter the General Student Council President's room were no longer there.
Sighing in relief he took a moment to think. 'They're asking for help? to those representatives? Really? The governing body and the representatives here are in a pitiful state, aren't they?'
'I admit that they're used to dealing with crises, forming a plan, designating a group then heading to the Federal Investigation building, I guess that was the place that I should visit as soon as possible.'
'But first things first… Luck favors the prepared, right?'
[Activating personal skill, Miniaturization.]
[Your body has decreased in size due to the miniaturization's effect.]
[Activating personal skill, Electrification.]
[Your speed and agility has increased in size due to the electrification's effect.]
[Personal skill, Bookmark, has been activated.]
'Fifth bookmark, Kyrgios Rodraim.'
[Your physical traits have been confirmed to be similar to the chosen character.]
[The level of the skill being used has been adjusted accordingly.]
'Let's get out of here.'
Using his smaller size he used the lightning speed to move around the corridor without being seen or detected, despite being a building of foreign and almost alien design the Sanctum had a familiar interior layout. It instilled a sense of confidence in Dokja that he could use the air ducts to dash and drop himself to the lower ground. His speed exceeds the limits of a human being, suffice to say he's moving at the speed of lightning.
CRASH!
Looking at the skies right beside a ruined air ducts, Dokja is still in the process of accepting that he just crashed and rolling out from the ducts, laying down back in his normal size and in pure disbelief he internally said, 'It's not that I try to justify myself but was it because I haven't used that ability for so long, all my movements are off…'
Dokja sighed. 'Am I trying to cope with myself?...'
'Let's save the self pity party for later and just follow the loudest explosions…'
Dokja has experienced many extraordinary things, getting his world turned upside down into a spectacle for Constellations, becoming said constellation and coming to terms with his own existence after reaching his end point.
But seeing animals who spoke act human and live with a sense of normalcy was the first for him, taking out beings who once were human and sold their humanity or talking beast with fighting instincts ingrained to their very being.
Robots working as construction workers, bank clerks and other jobs you can see everyday, not hulking creations from the underworld meant for war.
It was not like he was actively searching for abnormalities in Kivotos, it was just everywhere, especially the steady stream of school girls with halos above their heads, carrying firearms as if they were everyday items similar to smartphones.
'And everyone who were the ones who looked at me as if I just grew four legs or something.' Dokja commented, thinking how the majority of the population seemed intrigued by the appearance of a regular 'human'.
Reaching the destination point by following the increasingly frequent sounds of explosions and guns being fired, Dokja saw a scene similar to the deadly scenarios he once partake of, the difference being the ones who fight were all girls in their middle high to high school age being able to take bullets and continue fighting with minimal damage.
Talking animals, he had encountered them.
Robots, he had experience with them.
Girls with halos with school uniforms being impervious to bullets, it managed to put his mind into a spin.
Furthermore the place had been turned into a complete warzone, it seemed obvious that the city's security forces are winning but there's a major error that happened because of the quick deployment and that was the civilians are not completely evacuated yet.
'If my deduction is correct the ones who have halos are resistant to bullets, but how about others who don't?'
One quick glance was enough, civilians cowering into cover and fearing for their lives was the only confirmation that Dokja needed.
'If I don't do anything then there will be people who'd get hurt…'
'But I can't expose myself in the open.'
'At least not yet.'
Ever Since he found himself in this new world he was unsure about everything, regarding his role as an entity, the responsibility being trusted to him, the drastic difference between realities, but oddly he found himself a sense of assurance when he saw this scene right in front of him.
Deep down he said to himself. 'But hell, she ripped me off from that train to save this place, didn't she?'
Taking a deep breath, one who had risen as The Demon King of Salvation prepared himself.
Staying true to his name, Dokja took off.
Moving on the side of the street he prioritizes the ones who caught in the crossfire especially the residence who didn't have any halos, after they're all safe then he'll move his attention to the downed students.
Physically speaking it was a test for Dokja, getting some time to familiarize with his own body again, returning his own sense of coordination, hopefully sharpening it back to the point where he was participating in the scenarios.
Dokja couldn't help to think that he's somewhat similar to an oldman though.
Once in a while helping others towards safety Dokja took a glance or two at the ones fighting in the middle of the streets, sprawling mazes made of car wreckage, railings and other metal objects served as cover while the two sides tried to flank at each other.
'This really looked like a real time strategy game, even during my mandatory military service things didn't look so grim.' Dokja thought.
But looking at some of them, Dokja could feel that they're the ones who led the charge by using their unique features or tactics that he assumed have been taught by them. Dokja tried to take a specific read and decided to take glances at a particular student, one who wore a formal looking dark colored uniform with an oversized coat over it.
But then…
Fizzle.
[Your understanding of Hayase Yuuka, has increased]
'Pardon? Is that supposed to be that secretary looking girl who's holding two machine guns?'
'That still works huh?'
Dokja, surprised and understandably full of questions, yet he repressed his own thoughts to focus on the immediate task at hand. There is still one more person who's downed and in need of help right in front of a white building that looks like two buildings stuck together.
'A nun? With animal ears?!' He thought to himself as he picked her up, trying to pull her into safety while realizing that he's definitely in a different world.
He tried to run but something struck him. It felt like a flash and heat, but that sensation made Dokja quickly put his body as a shield before an explosion threw the two of them inside the building, crashing through the glass doors and rolling into the middle of the lobby.
"I swear if someone shot me full of holes then it would still hurt." The man said in between his bated breath, aching filled his body and bones, not noticing that another figure was approaching the two figures laid on the floor, a girl with customized black Kimono, a fox mask and a decorated sniper rifle placed firmly on her shoulders.
Dokja could see that she was trying to say something, thinking that she was there to help them or she was the one who caused the havoc in the first place.
Facing the predicament at hand, Dokja only replied by giving her a weak smile. It was a response out of exasperation than a genuine one.
But the unthinkable happened.
It caused her to stop, frozen in place as she shook her head in confusion before she ran away, yelling. "Pardon the intrusion!"
Moments later.
Fizzle.
[Kosaka Wakamo, is slightly attracted to you.]
'Okay. seriously… I just tripped on a massive landmine, didn't I?'
Dokja felt like the light in his eyes left him upon reading the notice, lying silently after noticing the battle that happened outside had ended.
'At least the gunfight had stopped… Those glimpses of tragedies told me a lot but nothing on this…'
The emergency response came quickly after the chaos subsided, Dokja looking around, Placing an cold ice pack on the sore spot, shutting his eyes in an attempt to get much needed rest.
'So guns are commonplace here… Would it be weird if I have to use a sword when cornered?'
'They'll see me as an oddball or a freak if I did that, won't they?'
Deep in thought, it would take a while until Dokja could register that someone is calling out to him.
"Sei…"
'Hmm? Did someone call out to me?'
"Sensei." A sharp voice reached Dokja's ears.
Opening his eyes, Dokja looked at the source of the voice. It belonged to a girl with long black hair with blue inner hair. She wore a similar looking uniform as the girl who pulled him into this world.
Her gaze seemed soft yet sharp. She's giving off a completely different air than 'her'.
"Did you hurt yourself? I asked the first responders but you said that they should take care of the other's first."
"..."
"I didn't expect our first meeting would be like this but gather yourself and focus."
"..."
"My name is Nanakami Rin, member of the General Student Council, and you seemed to be the teacher that we have summoned here."
'I think she believed that her friend sent me through traditional means, well she did pull me out from that train.'
"Pardon my uncertainty, but I only say that because I still don't fully understand how you got here."
'You and me the same…'
"I understand that this must be very confusing. My apologies. However, you must follow me now."
Dokja stood up, still holding the icepack and moving it to compress the side of his head while following Rin, she told Dokja about the city and the problems it is currently facing, its political struggle, the missing president, the Eden treaty and many more.
The interesting part of this 'teacher' position was not only teaching in the traditional sense, he was supposed to fill the role of a guide and even holding a significant political reach that stems from his affiliation with Schale that held extrajudicial power within Kivotos city.
Dokja also understood that his position was more akin to how a Constellation guiding an Incarnation inside the tumultuous scenarios, he could extend it further by thinking of each problem that Rin shared earlier as a 'scenario' that he had to tackle one by one.
Taking his mental notes, Dokja started to plan his own way to deal with each problem as soon as his tour of Schale was over, she even handed him an artifact called the Shittim Chest but it did not respond to his presence at all.
"Maybe it needs to be in the presence of another artifact, follow me, Sensei."
They reached the lower level of the building where a monolithic artifact was stored, a large stone tablet with cracks stemming from the bottom portion that towered over him. Looking at it, Dokja could feel that this dormant stone tablet is related to how he was able to be pulled here.
'The energy felt like it was pulling at my hands, does it want me to put my hand on it?'
'Is it safe to assume that a certain amount of my existence, my plausibility, is stored there?''
Rin turned to Dokja to explain about the monolith but a set of footsteps told both of them that they had to wait. The earlier point made apparent as a stern sounding voice reached them, "There you are! Acting president, we've been waiting to see you! Get the real president here already!"
'I had the feeling my headache was not going anywhere soon, so let's see how this plays out.'
Dokja turned his head and was slightly surprised. 'It's that girl again, Hayase Yuuka If I remembered it correctly.' She did not look happy in the slightest, the wind power generator from her school shut down and her school was concerned because of abnormal power readings.
'I apologize to you but I think the problem is standing right here…'
One by one the representatives of the leading schools stepped into the room where the monolith was stored, some of them shared characteristics of an anger that instantly reminded me of Eden, the nun looking student with animal ears and the last one having long ears akin to an elf.
'Each of them felt like a formal envoy for their respective academy, considering that they could address Rin that way means that they're pissed off because of the problems that they're currently facing. These problems being thrown to a powerless uniting figure could only mean that they're desperate.'
'All of them are.'
Dokja took a step back after each representative shared their concerns to Rin, it was him unconsciously trying to distance himself away from getting even the slightest attention from them.
Crack.
The man in white cloak didn't even realize that he stepped back far enough to reach the monolith, his hand touching the bottom of the crack.
This instantly caught their attention.
"I've been meaning to ask, who is this adult?" Yuuka asked, showing clear curiosity.
Dokja could feel their gaze on him.
[Hayase Yuuka, is showing curiosity towards you.]
[Hanekawa Hayase, is curious about your answer.]
[Morizuki Suzumi, is curious about your answer.]
[Hinomiya Chinatsu, is slightly wary of you.]
[Iochi Mari, is listening with intent.]
Rin stepped in and answered for him. "This is the new member of the newly formed Independent Federal Investigation Club, Kim Dokja Sensei."
.
..
…
The five of them seem to be silent, not giving the adult any response, it looked more like they're in the middle of measuring him because of his position that holds high political standing in Kivotos.
On the other hand the silence is rather suffocating for the teacher.
'Please say something, the silence is killing me.' Dokja thought with a wry smile. The teacher uses his hand that is already resting against the tablet to prop his body upright, trying to make himself look more presentable.
He knew that his appearance didn't look like much, an average human in every sense of being but that's the approach that he wanted to take if he wanted to adjust himself in Kivotos.
He didn't realize that the Shittim Chest and the cracks on the stone tablet were reacting to him since he touched it earlier, that was the real reason why the students went quiet, Mari even stepped to move behind Hasumi to gain some sense of protection.
Dokja glanced back but it was too late…
[The Shittim Chest is reacting to you.]
[Adjusting your existence and form accordingly.]
"Ah crap…"
Dokja felt an urge to cover his face with both of his hands.
Something is happening and he did not like it, making a rough guess as to the reason why his body felt different. His sense of coordination was off, his ability was not in tune, it was not because he was not accustomed to moving his body again.
It was because his existence is not 'calibrated' yet.
'What does it mean for the Shittim Chest to adjust my presence?'
'Was it simply to tune my ability, how I was perceived here or…'
There's a moment of silence.
'Damn it, I'm screwed…'
Dokja cursed as a flash of lights showered him from the stone tablet, turning his form to one that reflects how the Shittim Chest perceived him, an image of divinity.
Three pairs of large wings sprout from his back accompanied by a pair of pure white horns, a contradicting image of an angel and a demon.
The lower level of the Schale building is now filled with light for a moment but it was enough to turn everyone silent.
The envoys who were having no qualms about voicing their opinions earlier are silenced by the sight.
'Any means to be perceived as a normal person in Kivotos is now out of the window…'
It was not his choice and Dokja pondered why that one detail in particular has to be brought over into this world, granted that the turn of events didn't give him any time but some part of him still cursed at himself because he failed to check about said possibility.
Nanakami Rin from the General Student Council saw a screen that appeared right in front of her face.
Hayase Yuuka from Millenium Science School experienced the same phenomenon.
As well as Hanekawa Hayase, Iochi Mari and Morizuki Suzumi from Trinity General School.
Hinomiya Chinatsu from Gehenna Academy Shared it too.
Titles stacked on each other.
Notification of some sort.
Each carries a weight about the so-called 'sensei' true identity, similar to how a speaker announces the coming of a royalty.
And in this case.
Heralding the descent of an entity.
[The Constellation 'Demon King of Salvation' is looking at you.]
