Space needle call… With a major twist.
Callbacks to the storage unit fire where Pruitt died. Robert and Ross aren't in a relationship in this story. Andy and Robert are in the awkward stage of trying to figure out if they want to sign the divorce papers. Everything in this story has the same events that happened in the show, just don't have Robert and Natasha together in this story. Surrera FTW (just maybe not in this story…)
Chapter One
Andy was outside the space needle, talking to Ross when she got an idea.
"Uh, e-extinguisher spheres." Andy blurted out randomly.
"What?" Ross asked, looking at Andy.
"Their truck at the substation. They had extinguisher spheres. They can put out a whole room on fire. If I can take them up…"
Ross cut her off. "Yes. Go! Go!"
"Okay," Andy said, running to get the sphere and making her way toward the building. While Andy was running all she could think about was how much she still loved Robert. She regretted the divorce so much and she knew that he would never take her back because of how she treated him.
When Andy got to where Robert and Ben were, she called out.
"Sullivan! Warren!" Looking for her two firefighters.
"We're over here, Captain!" Warren called out and Andy saw them.
She ran over to them. She dropped in front of them, ensuring Ben was okay and then turned to Robert. "I know. I know. You don't need to yell at me." Andy yelled over the sound of the flames. "Are you okay?" Andy asked. "The explosion."
"You came in here alone," Robert said, ignoring what Andy had said.
"I know." Andy brushed it off.
"Wait. Did you seriously run in here alone? Without backup? I recall you once giving me shit for doing that, Andy." Robert glared at her. "Are you crazy?"
"You can be as mad as you want at me when we're safe," Andy repeated Robert's words back to him.
"Okay." Robert breathed in and out. "But there's going to be so much yelling… and cursing."
Andy grinned at that, before remembering the events that followed and she frowned. They never had that fight. Andy never yelled and cursed Robert's stupid actions when they got home. Too focused on Robert's problems.
"Listen, let's just get you out of here, okay? You and Ben need to get out of here before there's an…" Andy rushed out but got interrupted when an explosion happened.
"Robert! Warren!" Andy called, trying to see if they were okay when another, smaller explosion happened and threw Andy across the room.
Andy was thrown across a wall, the impact causing her to pass out.
Vic had come down from helping with the elevator when she heard the bang. She looked at her team before looking at Ross. "Where the hell are Warren and Sullivan?" Vic asked.
"Wait a minute." Maya looked around. "Where is captain Herrera?" Maya panicked, also looking at Ross.
"She went to look for Warren and Sullivan…" Ross trailed off. "Oh, god."
"Oh, God," Vic repeated. "You need to send in a team to help save them. Now." Vic pleaded with Ross.
Ross nodded. "Lieutenant Bishop," Ross looked at Maya, "take Hughes and Montgomery in." All three firefighters grabbed their gear and rushed into the space needle.
It took them a few minutes to make their way to Andy, Ben's, and Robert's last location and when they did, they saw Ben and Robert first.
"Guys, does anyone see Herrera?" Vic asked with panic in her voice.
Everyone shook their heads. "For now, let's just check on Warren and Sullivan, okay? We need to make sure they're okay." Maya told the team.
"Ben. Warren." Vic tried, shaking him and was thankful when he started to move.
"I'm okay. I'm okay." Ben told them as he sat up.
"Thank god." Travis breathed out.
Travis and Vic continued to watch over Ben while Maya went to check on Robert.
"Sullivan." Maya shook him and started to worry when he didn't move at all. "Robert!" Maya tried. "Robert!" she tried again. "Damn it, Sullivan. Answer me." Maya shouted and looked up and saw Ben, Vic and Travis looking back at her with concern on their faces. "Guys, he's not moving." Maya's face was clear with concern and got Ben moving to the pair.
Ben got to them and moved Sullivan's mask off his face and saw a cut on his forehead. "Shit." He whispered and then felt for a pulse. "Guys, he doesn't have a pulse and he isn't breathing," Ben said, despair growing on his face. It was silent for a few moments, no one knowing what to say before Ben remembered something. "Wait," everyone looked up. "didn't Herrera come down here?" When Maya nodded, he stood up and looked around the room. Everyone was silent again when a beeping started. "PASS alarm." He stated obviously.
"Ben. Sit down. We got this." Vic told him. "We still don't know how extensive your injuries are." Ben, normally one to fight, just sat down near Robert.
"I am so sorry I didn't do better by you, Robert," Ben whispered and looked onto where Maya and Vic were, looking for their captain.
While Ben stayed with Sullivan Maya and Vic worked in silence, trying to concentrate but finding it hard when they had found Ben alive but Sullivan dead.
They were searching for another 20 seconds when they found the location of the PASS device. They used their flashlights and what they saw caused their heart to stop.
"Oh, Andy," Vic said and bent down. She took Andy's mask off and her heart broke when she saw the cut on her forehead, so alike to Sullivan's.
"Alright, Ben, Travis, new plan, take the backboard and bring Sullivan out. Explain the situation and then Travis come back with a stretcher and heart monitor and oxygen. It doesn't look like Andy is in good shape." Maya ordered while trying to take off Andy's turnout. Vic was unable to say anything, close to tears. Once Maya had taken off Andy's turnouts, she saw that Andy had a visually broken arm, she also already had bruises forming on her face. She covered her mouth and tried to stifle her sobs.
Ben and Travis carried Sullivan out of the room and Maya and Vic were left to look after their captain, but more importantly their best friend.
"Maya…" Vic started. "She has a faint pulse." Vic looked at Maya and saw her nod. "she's not moving."
"I know."
"It looks like one of the explosions threw her across the room."
"I know."
"She came in here without backup."
"I know, Vic!" Maya shouted, not being able to take Vic stating the obvious anymore. "Sorry. Sorry. I'm not trying to snap at you, I'm just frustrated. Andy should've known better." As Maya was about to go on a rant, Travis came back in and had all the needed medical equipment with her along with Chief Ross.
"Oh, God," Ross said, in shock seeing the shape the captain was in. She covered Andy's mouth and nose with the oxygen mask and then she grabbed a pair of scissors and cut Andy's shirt while Vic grabbed the heart monitor and connected it to Andy.
"Shit! She doesn't have a pulse!"
