Chapter 3

Rook435- No, I didn't. The only thing that inspired this was Gamer95's hundreds of adoptive stories that he rarely ever finishes. I've heard of that story. In fact, I'm currently following it. It's kind of sad that this story and that one are the only ones that seem to show the Sisters of Twilight in a significant way.

Naestra

Naestra had to admit, when Ariel had casted her ritual, she expected something bad to happen to them, their companions, or the child. Instead, nothing of the sort happened, much to her surprise. Manipulating the Winds of Magic to teleport one to another destination, much less an entirely new world, is no small feat and requires delicate manipulations in addition to consuming a significant amount of magic to do so that she thought it would be painful for them. Not life threating, otherwise Ariel wouldn't do it, but enough that it'll leave them sore for a time. But no, they were completely fine. They were blinded for a few moments, but aside from that, they were completely fine. No missing limbs or charred body parts. Even their supplies were fine. Ariel must have taken precautions to make sure the transportation was as safe as she could possibly do.

Blinking out the stars in her eyes, Naestra looked at their surroundings, finding nothing but clear blue skies and a plain of grass, giving them a clear view of the beautiful blue ocean that was a bit out of sight for even an elf. She then looked at the child in her arms, starting to stir from his slumber and look at the black-haired maiden with his brown eyes, making her smile. Just as she was about to speak with the child, Arahan spoke out.

"We should leave immediately." Said Arahan as she rummaged through one of the bag on Ceithin-Har, who stayed still as he eyed the horizon for anyone or anything stupid enough to come close to them. Bringing out her trusted bow and a quiver full of arrows, she slugged them on as she spoke up again. "Even the most magically inept of fools would have felt the magical power brought out by queen Ariel's ritual and come to investigate the disturbance. And if they didn't, then all one needs is to look in the right direction and come towards here. So, we need to move and find someplace to hide for the time being until we can make a home." She then got on the dragon and waited for Naestra to do the same.

Naestra had to agree on that. For all they knew, Ariel sent them to a location filled with hostile life. Life that they have no ability to tame or even if it was possible to tame. Much as the Asrai loved the forest and all it's inhabitants and tended to avoid slaying those that nature created that weren't sapient, they knew that it was also the cycle of nature to hunt and kill other beings in order to survive and to keep nature in balance. The dragon must hunt and kill the goat in order to both survive and keep the goat from overpopulating the plains, so as to keep the fields of grass from becoming barren. They also had a mission to keep the child safe from harm. So, if they needed to kill a lion or any animal that came for them, then they'll kill them in order to keep them and the child safe.

Sighing as she tended to the child, giving it a finger for it to play, Naestra got on Ceithin-Har. After she ensured that the child was safe in her arms and that she was firmly on the dragon, she nodded to her sister, who then commanded Ceithin-Har to fly. With a roar, the dragon flew up into the air and began searching for a home for them, preferably a forest near some mountains, Gwindalor not to far behind.

As the dragon and eagle soared through the beautiful ocean to find a forest that they can, Naestra watched the ocean sparkle below them. It's beauty awed the Wood elf. She had seen such beauty before in the forest of Athel Loren before with small streams and ponds, but to see an entire ocean was something the Wood elf had never seen before and she enjoyed it. Even though she may never see Athel Loren again and it saddened her, she still felt there were a great deal of things out here in this new world that will excite and interest her. Arahan, however, didn't care. If anything, she despised the mission given to her by her queen.

There were only a few things that she cared about in life. Battle, queen Ariel, her sister, the forest of Athel Loren, and the Asrai. Two of those things were taken from her because her queen sent her on a mission to take care of the next Everchosen of Chaos. The rape spawn in her sister's arms. And now she and her sister were in an unknown world, filled with unknown things, protecting a child that may bring about the destruction of Athel Loren if he turns to a path of evil. Though she was willing to do her part in this mission given to her by her queen, she still despised it and the child that forced it upon her and her naïve sister. Oh, how she wished she could find something to hunt and kill soon or else she'll go mad with boredom. She just hoped Ceithin-Har will find a forest soon and they can make it their home so she can go out and hunt something while Naestra began the process of building a home for all of them.

The two eleven maidens, while thinking about either finding a new home or their child, then noticed a small boat below Ceithin-Har. Their sharp elven eyes saw the crew of the boat looking up at the dragon and eagle soaring above them, trying to discern what they are. They noticed that they were…

"Oh, that's just wonderful." Said Arahan sarcastically as she saw what they were. "Men. Just what we needed in our lives. We already have our hands full with one."

"Hush, sister." Said Naestra as she looked at her sister's back. "Men are a great many things. Some good. Some bad. You know this." She was referring to the kingdom of Bretonnia and the Empire of Man, the greatest kingdoms of men to exist as well as the greatest defenders of their former world as well. She was also referring to Norsca, the harsh lands of the North where tribes of men, corrupted by Chaos, resided. It was there that some of the strongest mortal followers of Chaos resided, some of which have done irreparable damage to elven kind before.

Men, she knew, were corruptible and weak to the sway of all four Chaos gods, unlike the elven races, but she also knew that they were noble and were determined to face down their enemies with a tenacity that was to be admired. Many times, the hordes of Chaos were rebelled by the strength of not the elves or the dwarves, but by the ingenuity and courage of the men of the Empire, who faced countless other threats to their domain at the same time, like the murderous Vampires and the Orks, all of which they fought with courage and fear determination, despite being physically and magically weaker than many of their foes. In many ways, Men were both a blessing and a curse to the world they used to live for they were capable of being both a protector and destroyer of things. And such an example can be found within the boy in Naestra's arms. Perhaps an even greater example as well for he had the blood of both a Daemon of Chaos and the blood of one from the Empire of Man.

If this child can overcome the blood in his veins, can overcome the ambitions and darkness that came with having the blood of a Daemon prince of Chaos, then he could become a powerful ally in the fight against Chaos. If not, then he could potentially be the strongest Everchosen to date.

Though the Wood Elves had never fought against any of the Everchosens when they led the Hordes of Chaos, that honor goes to the Asur, Dwarves, and Men, they knew the history of all twelve. From Morkar the Uniter to Asavar Kul, the most recent, they knew them all to be powerful men that were granted powerful boons by all the Chaos Gods to lead their armies against the rest of the world and destroy it for them.

Each and every time an Everchosen was elected from the masses of Chaos followers, it always took considerable forces and strength of will to fight the endless waves of Chaos servants. Each and every time, the Everchosens were slain, thus causing the hordes of Chaos to fight amongst each other, for without a strong, singular presence guiding them all to a singular goal, they will fight each other for the glory of leading their fellow Chaos worshippers to battle or to kill their rivals, preventing the destruction of the world as they know it.

This one, however, Naestra wasn't sure that they can slay him as easily as the other Everchosens. Each Everchosen before this one was a man from the Norscan tribes. Strong men that can easily take down five lesser men of the Empire with ease, but were easy to defeat with proper tactics and weaponry as the men of the Empire have proven time and time again in their battles against the men of the North. This one, however, had the blood of an Imperial woman as well as the blood of a Daemon prince of Chaos. The latter may give the child the ability to wield the winds of magic as well as other boons, such as increased longevity and increased strength, but the former was what worried her.

The primary reasons the Empire of Man and their allies in the form of Bretonnia and Kislev managed to hold out for so long against the forces of Chaos, even win against them despite the obvious strength differences, was their tactics, discipline, and technology. The typical Chaos warband was undisciplined, glory-seeking, and so focused on their own wellbeing that all it took was for one to end a Chaos invasion was to kill their leaders and the rest will descend into anarchy and infighting, making it easier for their enemies to pick them apart. Such things were not present in the armies of the Empire. No. Their discipline and devotion to the singular goal of protecting their loved ones and homes from their enemies, whether they be greenskins or the murderous warriors of Chaos, made them a hard foe to beat for the hordes of Chaos. And that wasn't taking into account their technology.

Though Naestra, along with all other Asrai, disliked the usage of guns and war machines to wage war, finding them clumsy, loud, and harmful to the forest, she cannot deny their effectiveness in the battlefield. Many enemies of the Empire had been felled and many lives of Empire soldiers had been saved through the war machines and state of the art weaponry the Empire had.

And then there was their uncanny ability to be creative when it comes to tactics. Many battles that were deemed unwinnable by Asrai Waywatchers had been won by the Empire through tactics that no elven commander would have even considered taken, seeing it as foolhardy or downright dishonorable to one's ancestors to utilize as they wouldn't have done such things when they were alive. And perhaps that was the Empire's greatest strength. Their willingness to accept new ideas and ways to fight and improve their lives. It made them a good match against the horde of Chaos. Perhaps even the best to date, even more than the Asur. And that was why she was afraid of this child falling to Chaos.

What if he inherited all the traits that made the Empire of Man so dangerous? The tactical mind. The openness to new ideas. The stubbornness and discipline that made Empire armies so dangerous to fight. Some forget that wars and battles are not just won because of the size of strength of your army, but also the tactical mind of the commander and his ability to adapt. Perhaps that is how the world will end? The next Everchosen is strong, not because of his physical strength, but his intellect and ability to make the Chaos hordes more powerful through the adoption of the Emipre's technology?

The Warriors of Chaos were held back by their lack of understanding, and sometimes unwillingness to utilize, of guns and other war machines of the Empire, but if this child can make them or force them to use them. Teach them how to make more and use them effectively, then the hordes of Chaos would be more powerful than they ever had been, even during the first great invasion of Chaos. And that was something that terrified her.

Even still, she hoped she and her sister can avert the child's dark fate and have him become a champion of order instead of Chaos. Like Ariel said, they were best suited for the role at the time. Arahan for the determination to do what must be done, even if others may not see it that way. And her to teach him humility and the sanctity of life and why he must protect it.

Looking back at the child, she realized that they haven't yet given the child a name. Cursing herself for forgetting such an important set of information, Naestra wondered what an appropriate name can be given to the child.

It certainly can't be an elven name, sadly as the child was a child of man, not an elf. So, that was out the window. They had to pick a name worthy of a man and that would be difficult for them as they lack any sort of knowledge on what are appropriate names for men.

Sighing to herself, she made a note to discuss this with her sister. Though how much Arahan will be of much help is debatable.

Two hours later

"This is ridiculous." Said Arahan as she waited for Naestra to finish feeding the little daemon spawn. Ceithin-Har had been hard at work searching for a new home for them and they had to stop because the child wanted sustenance. Unfortunately, he was too young for solid foods and that meant one of them had to breast feed it. Absolutely refusing to have anything suckle on her breast, demon-spawn or not, Naestra was forced to do so. Unfortunately, they had to touch down in order to accomplish this as it was quite dangerous to breast feed a child when in the air. On a dragon. So, they looked for a place for Ceithin-Har to land safely and found it in the form of a sizable clearing with no signs of intelligent life nearby, much to Arahan's relief as she didn't want to deal with anyone right now. Her mood was too dark at the moment. She needed to kill something soon or else she'll go mad.

Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on who you ask, such sport was provided to her. Gwindalor, who had been on the lookout for danger, had landed near her and made several screeching noises. Though many would not understand the Great Eagle's attempts to communicate, Arahan easily understood his screeching, having formed a close bond with both him and Ceithin-Har that both her sister and her can understand their squawking and roars with ease. What Gwindalor just told her made Arahan smirk in vicious glee as she ordered Gwindalor to stay with Naestra and the boy while she went out to kill with Ceithin-Har. Despite the Great Eagles best attempts to protest her actions, Arahan told him that she won't be long as she got on Ceithin-Har and the two instantly took off.

This, of course caught the attention of Naestra and she looked around to see Ceithin-Har leaving with her sister.

"*Sighs* Sister." Said Naestra in annoyance as she continued to breast feed the child, knowing it'll be sometime before she can go after both the dragon and her sister. As the child feed to his heart's content, Naestra prayed that Arahan wouldn't be too reckless, though she knew it was in vain as Arahan has proven time and time again to be the epitome of recklessness, to the point that she wondered why she bothered even praying in the first place.

Sighing again, she took solace in the child in her arms, smiling a bit as he sucked on her breast. It was a…strange sensation to be sure, but one she'll have to get used to now that she was a mother.
