Chapter 63

Naestra

"This fucking sucks!" Yelled Gajeel as he, Naestra, and Arahan were escorting two wagons filled with food and water for a town at the end of their route. The town wasn't exactly in desperate need of the supplies, but it would be better for them if they receive them now rather than later. Plus, it gave Naestra a chance to see how Gajeel is doing since becoming a member of Fairy Tail. So far, he actually is doing well.

He is complaining regarding the job, yes, but aside from that, he's handling the job rather well. Besides, her sister was also complaining about the assignment as well. Complaining about how boring it was and how she wanted to fight something. Honestly, she was so much like Gajeel in that regard, something that she was sure that her sister would hate if she brought this up to her. She still held a grudge against Gajeel for his involvement with Phantom Lord and their actions against their Guild, but Naestra hoped that, in time, her sister, along with most of the Guild as well, would forgive Gajeel for his actions and accept him as a member of Fairy Tail. Hopefully this mission will help expediate things for Gajeel as Naestra can see that he was trying his best to earn the forgiveness of the Fairy Tail Guild, no matter how much his attitude says otherwise.

"And why does this irritate you, Gajeel?" Asked Naestra as she looked at Gajeel with a smile, amused at his usage of foul language. He had been using such language a few hours ago and she learned a great deal of his person as a result. He seemed to be the type of person that used such language as a means to express his annoyance and anger. Amusing. "You know full well that the possibility of actually fighting something was low on account of this road being patrolled by the military. It's the main reason that you were allowed to be a part of this job."

"That doesn't mean I can't complain about how fucking boring this is!" Yelled Gajeel as he stomped on the ground, complaining about…everything. "Can't wait for this job to be over so we can collect our money and be off." Naestra just smiled at Gajeel's words and continued to walk on.

"We're almost done, Gajeel." Said Naestra as they walked alongside their caravan. "Just a little more and we'll be at our destination. Once there, we'll receive our payment and we'll be finished with this assignment. After that, we'll head back to the Guild Hall and report how you fared in this assignment." Gajeel just grumbled at that before resuming his march with Naestra. Arahan, who was on the other side of the small caravan, rolled her eyes as she marched with the caravan. He truly was a child.

Despite having done nothing to warrant her distrust since being inducted to Fairy Tail, Arahan still did not trust Gajeel at all in the slightest. To her, he was only using Fairy Tail as a means to sustain himself and to avoid imprisonment. She also suspected that, if the opportunity presented itself, Gajeel will betray them without a second thought. Its in the nature of a man like Gajeel, who only cared about himself. And when that happens, Arahan will be ready to kill him at a moment's notice.

For now, however, she'll hold her arrows and spear from Gajeel's throat. Or any vital organ of his person. As attacking now would cause everyone at Fairy Tail, including her sister and adoptive son, to be upset at her. Much to her annoyance. While she didn't care what most people in the Fairy Tail guild thought of her and her sister would forgive her transgressions as always, she did care what her son thought of her as well as Erza. So, she refrained from acting on her base instincts like she would have done in her old home.

"This world. It made me soft." Thought Arahan with a scowl. "Too soft. That is unfortunate because, if the Chaos Gods have found us here, we cannot afford to be weak." Remembering to the day when Diederick told her and Naestra about the symbol of Tzeentch that came above the Tower of Heaven, Arahan felt something she very rarely felt. Fear.

This world did not know the tragedy and terror that her old home had with just the Chaos Gods alone. It did not know the sacrifices needed by every nation, no matter how dark and deprived they were, just to stop the onslaught of Chaos from engulfing the world. Nor did it or its people, she suspected, have the stomach to even consider the necessary choices the Empire of Man and that of Kislev did to stop the Forces of Chaos from taking their lands and overrunning the entire world. This world was just too naïve, too happy, to even consider such dark choices as necessary for survival.

If Chaos came to this world, Arahan, though she would never say it out loud, feared that this world will be lost and become a mere playground for the Dark Gods. Naestra also feared this and thus the two sisters were conversing with Makarov concerning the Dark Gods and their followers. In hopes of finding a way to prepare this world for the coming darkness. For the Chaos Gods have finally found their next Everchosen and they will stop at nothing to obtain him, thus bringing about their final victory over all life.

Makarov, upon hearing of the symbol of Tzeentch being shown at the R-System Tower, was both horrified and stunned to hear such a thing occur. Even more so when he asked what this meant for Earthland. They told him of the horrors that typical came from the whims of the Chaos Gods. What they bring to Earthland. The horrors, the corruption, and the death that comes with the Chaos Gods, no matter what.

They told him of the dozen Everchosens that the Chaos Gods have crowned throughout the years that have led the followers of the Dark Gods to destroy and corrupt the world they used to reside in. How each Everchosen has brought death and ruin to the Empire of Man as well as all those that attempt to stop their murderous crusades against all life that was uncorrupted by the Forces of Chaos. And, finally, they told him of the thousands upon thousands that always died just to stem the tide of Chaos whenever a new Everchosen is crowned. Of all the deaths that follows even after an Everchosen is defeated. They even told him that, even without an Everchosen to form a great tide of Chaos, their old home still had to contend with countless invasions and raids from those that worship the Chaos Gods, some of which come from those that have been once good men and women, corrupted by temptations and influences of the Dark Gods. Needless to say, Makarov got the very bloody picture of what they're facing.

The Sisters of Twilight, after telling Makarov all this, told him that they needed to warn the governments of not just Fiore, but also the entire world as well. For Chaos was not a foe to fight alone. Not without great cost, both in bodies and in spirit as well. And even then, the cost will still be high for all those that make a stand against the Chaos Gods. Makarov, hearing the concerns of the sisters, told them that he'll do what he can to convince the Magic Council of the threat of the Chaos Gods as well as the other Guilds. Even if he is labelled crazy for trying to tell them about the Chaos Gods, he'll still attempt to try and convince them of the threat of the Chaos Gods. However, it will take some time to convince them given the…outlandish idea of the Chaos Gods.

While Arahan was annoyed with this, Naestra understood. After all, it all sounded insane and outlandish to the minds of people who knew not the suffering and pain that they and the people of their old home endured because of Chaos. And also the fact that they come from another realm entirely as well as the existence of other worlds. It all sounded quite insane, even Arahan had to agree on this.

Still, the fact that they had to take a long and careful process to make people see the truth of the Chaos Gods and their threat to Earthland was a source of worry and stress to the Elven sisters. After all, the more time they waste in trying to convince people of the danger of Chaos give the Chaos Gods and their followers more time to prepare whatever plans they have for Earthland. Or worse, plan an invasion of this peaceful world. And to make matters worse, the Chaos God that, arguably, was the most dangerous to unaware and helpless victims, even if they knew of him, was the one that discovered this world first.

While the Elves of Athel Loren did not have much encounters with the followers of the Changer of Ways when compared to the followers of his kin, they knew that Tzeentch was still a dangerous foe to face. Many times has a seemingly harmless mistake or an action that seemed to be unrelated to a situation at hand has resulted in disastrous consequences for those that had been caught by the machinations of the Great Deceiver. Even actions done centuries ago have been used by Tzeentch and his followers to conduct great acts of tragedy and suffering to those that oppose his will as well as the enjoyment of Tzeentch himself. After all, the Chaos Gods, above all else, crave entertainment in addition to power as well as sabotaging their fellow Gods. And Tzeentch craved all these in equal measure, perhaps even more so than his brothers.

And Earthland was a prime target for all these things.

Sighing in exhaustion, Arahan looked at Gajeel as he continued to complain about his situation with her sister simply providing an ear to his complaints, a smile on her face, and frowned.

"He thinks he's suffering now." Thought Arahan with a glare at Gajeel. "He doesn't know what true suffering is. What horrors are out there. And what will come when Tzeentch and his followers arrive to this world to claim my son for their own nefarious purposes. I will not let that happen. I won't allow Diederick to become the monster that Ariel had envisioned he'd become if Chaos takes a hold on him. We will keep him safe from their influence." She then looked at her sister, who let out a small laugh at something Gajeel just said, which seemed to infuriate the Dragonslayer a bit. "Both of us."

Meanwhile

Laxus

"This needs to fucking end now." Thought Laxus as he glared at the Fairy Tail guildhall, disgust and anger clear on his face as he looked upon it from a rooftop. The young man's hands clenched into fists as he thought of all the decisions his grandfather made that, in his mind, caused him to believe Makarov was no longer fit to lead the Fairy Tail Guild. "The old man is running the guild to the ground. Recruiting weak mages from guilds that fucking attack us and destroy our guildhall. Letting a fucking convict be recruited from said guild that not only wrecked our guildhall but also publicly humiliated some of our members as well. For fucks sake, we're even recruiting fucking non-wizards to our fucking guild and letting their kid hang out despite him showing no interest in our guild or any magic potential at all. These fucking decisions and more are running our reputation in the ground. People are talking about how weak and pathetic we've gotten recently. How we're no longer a magic guild at all. Just a run-of-the-mill daycare for kids and weaklings. It's a fucking travesty. He's running our guild to the ground by letting all this happen. And if he isn't going to do anything to stop it, then I'm going to do something about instead." With that thought, Laxus began to make plans to usurp his grandfather's place as leader of the Fairy Tail guild.
