A week later, school is back in session, and I'm back in my office, trying to get some work done. Trying being the appropriate word. I have a meeting with a potential manufacturer in a couple hours, so I need to be prepared for it. It's difficult to get anything done with a crazy person sitting across from me, smiling so wide I can see her molars.

"What?" I snap, knowing Kate won't leave until I acknowledge her.

"You're in love!" she all but squeals.

I eye the closed door and hiss. "Will you keep it down?"

She rolls her eyes. "Please, your office is practically soundproof." She grins. "I saw Bella this morning when I dropped Jasper off. I could tell from the look on her face. You're crazy, stupid in love."

I sigh and sit back in my chair. "You're so nosy. Why do I keep you around?" I ask, fighting a smile.

Kate leans over my desk. "You'd never be able to survive without me." She grins mischievously as she sits back down. "Besides, if it weren't for me, you wouldn't be ass over elbows in love with the beautiful and intelligent Ms. Swan."

"Thank you, Kate. I've never been happier in my life, and it's all because of you."

She blinks slowly before giving me a skeptical look. "Is there sarcasm somewhere in there?"

I laugh. "No, you dumb ass. I'm genuinely trying to give you some appreciation. I can't imagine my life without her. It's all because of you."

Kate smirks. "You know you'd probably be planning on proposing or planning your wedding if the two of you had gotten your heads out of your asses when I tried introducing you at the beginning of the school year."

I roll my eyes. "Not everyone is as fast-paced as you and Garrett. Bella and I are navigating our relationship at just the right speed for us."

"I know, I know." Her phone goes off. "The Blacks will be here in an hour."

I wave my hand. "Then get the fuck out of here so I can work. I'm sure you're supposed to be doing something."

"Yeah." Kate stops before she closes the door. "You're welcome by the way. I'm so happy for you, Edward."
