Elbert's Journal: Lovestruck

16th Day of the 10th Moon, 275 AC -

My heart is still pounding in my chest like the hoofbeats of a thousand destriers charging into battle. For on this fateful day, I have locked eyes with the most exquisite beauty mine eyes have ever beheld. She has utterly bewitched and enraptured me in a way I could have scarcely conceived possible until witnessing her with my own eyes.

Jeoffrey and I had merely sought refreshment at a nondescript little tavern called the Drunken Mummer. But the gods had far more splendorous things in store for me this afternoon. The moment that vision of loveliness glided into my field of view, the world around me ceased to exist. All that remained was her.

Raven tresses flowed like satin ribbons framing a face so perfectly sculpted, it could only be the work of the greatest artists in the histories. Full lips seemed softer than any velvet, painted the most delicate shade of rose. But it was her eyes that held me in their thrall - shimmering azure pools deep enough to drown in without a whisper of objection.

When her gaze met mine, even for just the briefest moment, I feared my heart may fail me entirely. Those soulful eyes pierced me from across the room, rendering me utterly motionless and spellbound. I could do nothing but gaze upon her unparalleled beauty like a castaway lost on the seas finally catching sight of land.

As she glided towards our table with the grace of a swan upon still waters, I berated myself for not already standing in her presence. Here was a goddess amongst mere mortals, and I sat as stupefied as a half-wit before her magnificence. Even her simple blue dress seemed to accentuate her as the crown jewel in a setting of rough-cut gems.

"Good day, sers," she said, and I'm quite certain the very angels in the heavens wept with envy at the sound of her melodious voice. "What can I get for you fine gentlemen this afternoon?"

I sat there, utterly incapable of speech for what felt an eternity, like a fool awestruck into complete imbecility. Thank the gods Jeoffrey managed to place our order so that I did not expire from embarrassment in that moment.

As she turned to depart, I caught her delicate beauty in profile and had to stifle a gasp of utter adoration. I then heard the goddess addressed as "Cissy" by her sister, and that single word alone felt like the sweetest hymn ever sung in the Seven's embrace.

Cissy. The mere sound of her name brought instantly to mind blossoming roses, ripe summer berries, the fragrance of lavender after the rain. Of course, even blending all the splendors of the natural world could only create a pale imitation of her authentic magnificence.

Upon her return with our beverages, I managed to coax a few words from my thoroughly addled mind. Soon I had the privilege of hearing the cadence of her enrapturing voice addressed directly towards me. A blessing I fear I shall never be worthy enough to deserve.

When finally she departed, I knew my life's purpose had been bestowed upon me as clearly as if inscribed on the pages of some holy scripture. No matter the obstacles that may arise, no matter what objections must be overcome, I will make this celestial creature my wife. The very idea of her radiant light extinguished from my life is unbearable.

So I will frequent the Drunken Mummer as often as I am able, absorbing every scintilla of her presence greedily into my very being. I will endeavor to prove myself worthy of Cissy's affections through grand gestures and courageous acts of devotion. Her love will be my ballad, her touch my religion, her kiss the only rapture for which I yearn.

The quest has begun on this most blessed of days. And I shall never rest until she is mine, now and forevermore. For Cissy has bewitched and ensnared me utterly...and I can only rejoice to be so thoroughly imprisoned within the glorious spell of her perfection.
