Disclaimer: I own neither Harry potter or Naruto.
Naruto landed easily, planting his legs down on the ground, it wasn't all that hard really. Looking around however he was completely in awe at what just happened.
'We really teleported huh?! Just like the fourth! Gosh that's so cool!' He was way too excited. He wondered if he could do that himself one day.
As Naruto told himself that, he looked around seeing they had landed in an empty alley of some sort. A pretty dingy one really.
"Excellent Mr. Uzumaki. I dare say not many people your age have the presence of mind to land so steadily." The older witch nodded as she glanced around banishing a rat that scurried near her.
"Thanks!" He scratched his head saying so.
"Now come with me, let's get your allowance for your supplies." She told him as she started walking. She already had many orphans under her care so she didn't draw attention to it.
That was also why she hadn't brought up his living conditions.
Yet.
"Wait!" Naruto quickly stopped her as he took out his backpack. Opening it he smiled at her dumbstruck face as she looked inside saying.
" Uzumaki Naruto doesn't take handouts! Thanks for the offer though!" He smiled, his full teeth showing.
Minerva held in her instinctive response. She wouldn't accuse him just yet. So calming down she looked at the blonde haired child.
"Mr Uzumaki? Where did you procure such an amount of money?" She raised a single eyebrow making sure he knew he wouldn't be getting out without an appropriate answer.
She had no time for criminals of any kind. No matter how sorry their situation was. It would set a awful precedent.
"Hah! Who do you think I am?! I earned this money fair and square! If you don't believe me you can go right in the neighborhood and ask!" He looked deeply offended at the accusation. He busted his butt and his clone's to get this cash and she was saying he stole it?!
Did she want to upset him!? It sounded like it! Goodness some people really had no manners.
Minerva peered at the deeply offended child's face. It would seem he was telling the truth however she would take him up on his offer to check just in case. It didn't hurt and he gave her a clue already.
Still it seemed he was credible. So she would treat him as such for the remainder of the time they were together.
"Hmmm. Then I shall place my faith in you Mr. Uzumaki. Now let's get on our way." She told him, as she spun walking the direction she was going before. They needed to make haste.
Catching up, Professor McGonagall was already moving onwards. They quickly walked down the crowded street.
'Charing Cross?' Naruto thought so, as he was spying the sign. He would have to note that for his next visit and he was definitely visiting! He was going to school here after all.
Walking by they stopped at a very tiny, dingy-looking pub.
Looking at the completely out of place pub Naruto glanced up hoping for an explanation. After all it looked like people were just passing by not saying anything. It was definitely weird.
Sadly he only got a rather stereotypical response.
"You'll find out later." The older woman said, completely dismissing it.
He sighed. So much for that.
Coming to the pub doors he also heard her say.
"This." She gestured all around her slowly. He would need to know this very well so she couldn't leave room for misinterpretation.
"Is the Leaky Cauldron, and the main entrance to Diagon Alley, this is where you will come to shop for your Hogwarts school supplies forever more." she explained shortly before entering.
"Hogwarts? I'm going to a school named Hogwarts?!" He raised his voice to the amusement of some of the crowd who were watching as they entered.
"Don't think too much about it kid!" A clearly drunk man said.
"Yeah don't worry! No hogs nor warts to be seen I'm afraid."
Another snickered as they made their way to the clear bar keeper. Naruto gave them a look remembering the faces.
"Good morning professor McGonagall, seems Hogwarts is going to get a little spitfire this year huh?" The barkeeper greeted them as he glanced at the kid with a smile.
"Quite an understatement Tom." Minerva shook her head exasperated.
"Hey! I'm right here!" The pip squeak felt left out as he shoved himself forward.
"Name's Naruto Uzumaki!" He smiled, sticking out a hand getting an amused side glance from Minerva.
Tom looked at the hand and placed down the bottle. "Name's Tom kid. I think you'll do just well in Hogwarts." He nodded deeply, taking it.
"Ehhe thanks!" Naruto felt a bit embarrassed at the vote of confidence but felt his chest puff out. It was nice to hear it.
Moving back he glanced at the Professor who started talking.
"Let us not dally any further. We still have quite the workload today." the Transfiguration mistress said and dragged Naruto to the back.
Stopping at a solid brick wall Naruto looked at it for a second then to her before looking away.
Keen cat-like reflexes caught the look however. " I am not crazy, I assure you Mr. Uzumaki. Please observe well." She slowly brought out her wand before his eyes.
Naruto watched with bland eyes as she tapped before they widened seeing them wall shift.
"Woah!" He quickly jumped back watching as the wall shifted and moved to the side.
With just tapping a stick she did this?!
Minerva glanced back and forth between the distance he moved with a frown.
'Quite a frequent amount of accidental magic. I need to get him his wand so it settles down quickly.'
"Mr. Uzumaki, you will be visiting here in the future without my guidance, so please pay good attention.
"Also if you haven't memorized the combination necessary to open the entrance. You can get an adult in the pub to help you." She beckoned him forward.
'Holy!' Naruto thought with bulging eyes seeing the floating trunk pass by.
"This is the shopping district of the British Wizarding world and it's Diagon Alley as I've told you before." She made sure he remembered.
Naruto nodded, not really paying attention as he looked around with wide eyes. Those robes didn't look half bad.
The street was absolutely filled to the brim with people. They were bustling around moving at quite the quick pace, clearly getting ready for the school year.
He quickly flinched though as he heard the woman voice pitch higher clearly annoyed at his lack of attention.
"And this! Is the Wizarding world's main bank Gringotts! It would do well if you were to listen to Mr. Uzumaki!"
"Sorry sorry!" He quickly ducked his head with a light blush looking around fidgeting. It wasn't his fault the place was so dang interesting! The regular world was already a lot for him to take in with all its differences but this?
It just tipped over the bucket!
Giving him a narrowed side eye she nodded once. Since he was paying attention so well before she'd forgive him for being awestruck.
It wasn't quite his fault but he still needed to pay attention.
"You said you had funds? What would you like to do? Let the school pay for your tuition or pay yourself?" She asked him, her voice softening.
Naruto didn't waste a single second.
"I want to pay myself!" He was glad the school paid but he'd much rather do so himself. Who knew if there were some hidden strings?
"Then let us go inside. They allow younger kids to make bank accounts. Make one, get your money transferred to galleons and let's come back." She patted him on the shoulder before walking in herself. She hoped they found a more charitable goblin to work with.
Naruto stuck his head out from behind her looking around impressed. These dudes really had style.
The bank was covered with gold and another material he couldn't name.
It had two walkways that were lined with ...creatures?
Blinking in deep and utter shock Naruto watched as the gremlins? Yes, as the gremlins at the desk busied themselves fiercely. Not a single one gave them a glance nor the ones walking past them.
"Hello? We would like to open a bank account for young Mr. Uzumaki here." McGonagall said, narrowing her eyes at the long drawn-out sigh of the goblin clearly not wanting to do so.
"Haaaa." The goblin leaned over, peering at the child. His eyes narrowed, feeling something weird but it passed the next second.
Looking at the ugly thing Naruto heard it say. "Do you have your deposit of 20 galleons? You will also need 50 to hold the account." He glanced at McGonagall's stiff face who beckoned him with a nod.
So stepping up he took his bag before dumping half the cash onto the counter sloppily making the goblin narrow his eyes.
"Very classy Mr. Uzumaki." She rolled her eyes before summoning the loose bills and stacking them neatly. She also rearranged them in order.
"Mmm. Good witch." the goblin mumbled counting the bills. It would have been terrible to have counted all this without any order.
Minerva's eye twitched after hearing it but said little else.
"I'll be back." The goblin quickly went to the back before coming back with some papers.
Pulling out a pen he gave it to the kid who grip the counter lifting his body up as he said "Sign here and here and here and.."
Sweating at all the work he did, Naruto began wondering if he really needed this. It seemed really unnecessary.
"Enough. Now your vault will be assigned later. The final step is now…" The goblin brought out a knife looking at the child.
Naruto looked at it for a second before looking up.
"Are you crazy sir?" He said hesitantly, not really knowing if it was a lady or not. Didn't want to be rude afterall.
"Not to worry Mr. Uzumaki. You won't even feel a prick. It's charmed that way." Minerva assured him as he took it a bit incredulous.
What kind of place made kids do this? It was pretty crazy, he thought as he began slicing his finger, the blood oozing out before dropping. Dropping on the paper it bursted into flames before concentrating on a key he didn't see before.
"Good. Now the key recognizes your magic and you will be able to access your vault at will. When you return a employee will take you to your assigned vault and let the key imprint there. " The goblin nodded before passing him a paper of his total balance.
"30,130 galleons, 8 Sickles and 5 knuts?" Naruto looked at it in confusion. The heck did this mean? Why was the currency so weird?
The goblin ignored it. "How much would you like to withdraw?"
Naruto looked towards the professor for help. He actually didn't even know what he was here for. Or how much it may cost.
Already knowing the list by heart Minerva said "Usually 20 galleons would be sufficient however since you are catching up I'd suggest you get first year text as well. About 35 galleons should be sufficient." She quickly gave him her expert advice.
Nodding Naruto looked back at the gremlin.
"100 galleons please!"
"..."
"What? I like even numbers! Is that a crime?!" He felt a bit exposed, feeling her stare at him. It was his money wasn't it?!
He could spend it how he wished!
(BREAK)
-Outside the bank 105 galleons less rich.
"I can't believe they charged 5 galleons for a bag." He muttered hefting the coins as they walked away. He was starting to realize exactly how much it was when he remembered how much he gave.
He was pretty sure he got swindled. This was just an ordinary bag after all.
Minerva glanced at him and felt proud. Every wizard got scammed by goblins after all. He was taking his first steps to becoming a true wizard.
"Now that we are done with that let's get you dressed. Can't have you coming to Hogwarts like that. We'll get your wand right after as well."
"Wand? Is it that thing you're using?" Naruto looked at it and asked. He had been holding in his questions because the woman seemed rather stern but even though she was he realized it was okay slowly.
"Indeed. Every witch or wizard has one. Can't be much without it. " She confirmed his thoughts.
Quickly hopping on the bandwagon, Naruto asked his next question not wanting her to stop.. "What was that movement we made to get here?! Was it teleportation?"
"Apparition Mr. Uzumaki. Apparition is by far the fastest and most convenient way to get to a desired destination, but is tricky to pull off correctly and disastrous if botched. So do not try it yourself!" She immediately stamped down the thoughts showing on his face.
The child was clearly wanting to try it. She wished he had a guardian so they could watch him because if left unsupervised he would clearly do what he wanted.
"Don't worry I won't!" He lied easily.
Closing her eyes with a pained sigh, Minerva looked up at Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions.
"Go on then." She gestured for him to go inside first.
The bell jingling heralded their arrival.
"Minerva work again I presume." The stout lady said as she measured another child who was present in the shop.
"No doubt about it. Watch out for this one. He's slippery." Minerva informed her, rolling her eyes at the betrayed look he sent her as she left.
Giggling, Madam Malkin told the child to come closer.
"Stand on that footstool child I'll get to you soon. This child is waiting for something else." She left to the back to get the rest of the clothing
Looking over to his side Naruto peered at the girl. She had red hair plaited in a braid, brown eyes and her cheeks were just a tad plump. She was wearing a blue sundress.
Catching her glancing at him with squinted eyes he smiled.
"The Name's Naruto Uzumaki! Nice to meet cha!" He leaned over balancing very well with a hand sticking out.
She looked at it hesitantly before shaking it."Susan Bones."
Releasing her hand Naruto stood straight seeing the lady come back with clothes. Feeling her place a cloak onto his head and down his body he asked the girl.
"So are you going to Hogwarts too?" He stayed completely still, his eyes wide seeing the needle stitching mid air.
"I'm going in for my-" She giggled seeing him flinch away from the needle before being sternly told to stop.
"My second year." She finished off.
"Ahhh. That's funny, me too!" Naruto nodded.
She glanced at him confused. " I don't remember you last year?" She thought he was lying.
"I guess you can call me a transfer!? Ow!" He tried putting a hand on his chin before feeling it slapped away by said lady.
"Hogwarts has transfers?" Susan looked at him intrigued. That was the first time she heard of it.
"I don't know. Shouldn't you?" She was the one who went there after all. Seemed kinda unbelievable she didn't.
"Well I don't think it's written anywhere." She tried saying as if she actually looked for it. Still she didn't want to seem like she didn't even know her own school.
"Well who knows? Maybe I'm the first?" He smiled when the stitching was finished looking at the robes on his body.
'Cool.' He smiled. It felt pretty comfortable too. Though he wondered if they could be pulled like his other set of clothing.
He'd have to find out. He didn't want that after all. It basically negated all his ninja stuff unless he decided to go butt naked.
He wouldn't.
Naruto looked back at her seeing her stress out over not knowing. So he simply said "Don't worry too much! It doesn't matter anyways."
Stepping off the stool he walked near her. Seeing her shy away he smiled thinking she was timid. "Anyways wanna be friends when we get to school?!"
He only now realized that yes he could get friends here! It was a great opportunity and he was loath to give it up!
Susan after catching herself tapped her chin in mock thought.
"I don't know.. I already have a lot of friends" She turned away seeing his pleading face.
"Pleassssee." He clapped his hands in a praying manner begging her.
"Oh all right then! Since you asked so nicely." She smiled, turning around looking at him.
"You're so nice!" He immediately hugged her before leaving the blushing girl.
"Cya!" He immediately booked it to the front of the shop now that his mini objective was finished.
After paying the lady to send the rest of clothing to his place he was immediately swept up by McGonagall.
"You've been waiting for this for quite some time huh?" She smiled as she led him around the corner right to the shop.
"Of course! How is that a question?!" He was bouncing off the balls of his feet the entire way.
"Well you need not wait any further. We are here." She waved her hand presenting it grandly.
Naruto glanced at her and wondered if they were all maybe a bit too dramatic in this place.
The shabby appearance of the shop really gave him a "I'm a crook" vibe. Did they really have magic? He thought seriously.
Naruto looked at letters on top of the door that read 'Ollivanders: Maker of Fine Wands since 382 B. C.'
"B. C?" He had no clue what it meant. Pushing the door forward he glanced at the still teacher who simply gestured to him to move it on.
So sighing he went inside hoping he didn't get too disappointed.
