Act 1 - Episode 2: Bird's Eye View

Quote of the Chapter: "No... That's just what they'll be expecting us to do." - Rex Kramer (Actor: Robert Stacks on the film Airplane(1980))

Gavin maintained control of the bulkhead as he ascended back to cruising altitude, adjusting one of his displays to show the targeting camera's view. "Got them tagged Ashley?" He questioned as he saw the camera moving and zooming in and out between the students currently being launched. "All initiates tagged as friendly. Unless you want to take out that white-haired one?" She teased in a sweet tone of voice, but the pilot just shook his head.

"Please take the wheel Ash, and no dropping actual bombs on the new arrivals." He commented as he dialed a few buttons on another display console that controlled his flight chair. His seat gave a small hydraulic hissed then moved back and away from the flight controls before spinning around to face the interior entrance door that led further into his bulkhead's passenger hold.

"Boo! You never let me have fun! Besides, she kept you from getting a proper breakfast." He heard Ashley pout, however, he just chuckled.

"Which is why I'm happy you didn't get ALL my stash." He replied as he walked further into the interior of his bulkhead.

As he walked in, he took note of its relatively clean and sanitary state and orderly layout. Flanked by each side by benches that doubled as holding containers for the essentials. Things such as Fire extinguishers, flares, survival rations, and of course the most vital of all: energy drinks and protein bars! Gavin's grin turned cocky at the AI's squawk of frustration.

"B-But Rayman told me-" To which he put a finger in the air with a dramatic pose, cutting off the computer.

"YOU CAN NEVER THREATEN A TRUE BRO TO SELL HIS FELLOW MAN OUT!" He shouted with a maddened cackle, before silencing himself with a bite out of a protein bar.

"Ugh. Men." The AI commented with mock disgust as he just snickered, now checking the rest of the compartments to ensure they were secure. A few minutes had passed before Ashley spoke through his helmet.

"Oi birdy seems like a team made it to the rendezvous point," Ashley noted in disgust as Gavin perked up at her tone. "Really? It's only been like twenty minutes." He muttered as he returned to the cockpit, curiosity buzzing in his mind as he focused on the camera display.

"Guess you can get stuff done quickly if you jump other students for their relics." She commented, Gavin's eyes now becoming razor-focused on the scene before him. A group of four initiates lay down defeated, beaten blue by another band of boys who held their relics with malicious grins.

Gavin knew that anything goes in the forest during initiation, being a bit of an unspoken rule that initiates can sabotage each other to ensure relic acquisition, but it boiled his blood at the action some took, and felt his hand twitch towards a certain set of controls.

His autocannon.

There have been times he felt his finger twitch on the trigger to reduce ignorant huntsmen and huntresses to fine mist before, but he never came so close to it other than now.

"Gav? Come on, they're not worth the ammo. We've got a small Grimm swarm to that beat-up team's three o'clock." Ashley's voice softened, but Gavin still frowned at the fact the boys had gotten away with it.

They didn't know he saw them.

They didn't know he always had a black box recording on his camera as well as the rest of his audio equipment.

There would be time and place with them later, right now he needed to pick up the other team.

"Ash, you have the cannon. I'll drop in low so we can get them out." He spoke firmly, buckled into his seat once more, and hands on the controls. "Roger. Let's show them some goodwill." Ashley spoke back with cheer, Gavin smirking a little at her words as he pushed down on the wheel.

Once more the treetops of the Emerald Forest approached him as he faced the earth, uncaring of its gravity as it yanked him down further and further.

Then at the last moment, he pulled up and leveled to the horizon. His hands were firm and steady as he flew to rescue the failed initiates.

Blake had to admit that joining Beacon was a bit of a more rash decision than what she was used to. Yet she felt that she didn't have anywhere else to go, places that wouldn't be burdened by her and her problems. The faunus in hiding now knew how much of a rash decision it was when she saw both the firepower Beacon had and the initiates they took in. An entire behemoth herd gone with a few bombs left her floored, and her new partner punching ursa majors through trees didn't help.

Compared to them in raw power and technology, the Fang would be decimated in the state it was in, which convinced her even more to try and get the White Fang back to its more peaceful roots.

Her new blonde partner, Yang Xiao-Long as she remembered from last night, was poking her shoulder with a curious look on her face. "You alright? Kinda seem out of it." She spoke, light concern and question clear in her tone.

"Yes." Blake hummed, brushing off the thought of such lethal force being used against the Fang. "Was just thinking about that display. With how strong those weapons are, that pilot must be in charge of keeping the grimm in check around Beacon." She hummed in hopeful thought of the more practical applications such firepower is used for.

"Makes sense, not like there's a point in dropping bombs in the city if there's bad guys. They'd have to do something REALLY stupid to justify that." Yang replied, hands brushing through her hair now, an effort to fix it after their scrap with the ursa.

Suddenly a loud girlish scream pierced through the air. Yang whipped her head around in the direction of the noise. "Some girl's in trouble!"

Blake fell into a focused stare in the direction and nodded to Yang, the two breaking into a run in the direction of the scream. Though Blake could have sworn she heard the faint screech of the bulkhead they saw from the start.

Gavin Goodwitch had already made pretty quick work of picking up the beaten-up team, each one having their takes on the rules of the initiation. Anger, sorrow, anxiety, no wonder a small horde had appeared to try and sweep them up. What seemly pissed him off more was the fact the other team had abandoned them to be killed. He had managed to swing by them in record time and drop them off the same to the teachers waiting for them at the cliffside.

Ozpin had sympathy for the team, as did Glynda, but Ozpin meant what he said: "You have free reign to destroy all that opposes you."

However, he now felt that they should add a new 'No Sabotage rule' to thin the more infuriating trainees given his current pick-up.

Gavin could feel his blood pressure rising. "Oi driver! You didn't tell us you packed us snacks!" His pilot helmet began to smell of sulfur. "Ugh, who the hell eats this crap!? You trying to poison us here!?" Another voice shouted through his cockpit door, his hands squeezed tight around his controls to control his growing anger. "Whoops! I think I broke it."

His eye began to twitch as a hand went to the 'cargo eject' button on his display.

"No Gav! No murder today!" Ashley shouted in his helmet as he repeatedly tapped the button, but he didn't hear the annoying initiates getting ejected. "Ashley I will PAY you to let me open this door. You can even practice some skeet shooting with the autocannon." His voice was calm, but the words dripped with malice. Ashley couldn't help but sigh, but opened a live feed transmission to Glynda of their cargo hold.

"Mister Winchester, as the on-board intel-" Ashley was unfortunately cut off by the brute. "Oh is our pilot a chick? Fricken score! Hey, baby you wanna-" The sound of the bulkhead setting down was felt roughly as the ramp dropped down in front of two rather annoyed-looking teachers.

Glynda stood there with a rising blood pressure of her own, while Ozpin could see the coming storm of two angry Goodwitchs. "Students. Out." She spoke as she kept her eyes focused on Cardin, teeth quietly grinding as the new students sallied out of the bulkhead.

Said bulkhead was already hovering, about to return to the forest. The teachers turned away to lead the students back to the initiation start, however, they were met again with the hovering bulkhead swinging its body between the teachers and students, its autocannon trained and its three barrels spinning while set upon Cardin's team.

"CARDIN WINCHESTER" The bulkhead's loudspeaker roared to life, the furious voice belonging to Gavin being its call. "MAKE ANOTHER COMMENT ABOUT MY COPILOT LIKE THAT AND YOU WILL BE REDUCED TO CHUNKY HUNTSMAN-BRAND SALSA. DO. I. MAKE. MYSELF. CLEAR?" Both teachers had turned around to see the team now frantically nodding, eyes wide as dinner plates at the ire of the gunship.

The bulkhead's cannon soon stopped spinning and it dove away, transitioning into flight as it returned to the forest's airspace.

Gavin felt the anger slowly bleed away, finally hoping to relax once more, only to get a warning from a sensor on his displays. "Unknown object entered airspace just-" Ashley was about to finish, only to slowly burst into laughter. Curious to see what she was laughing at, he turned on his camera display and joined her at the sight. Highlighted was a scrawny blonde boy's form being flung across the forest, while Ruby and the white-haired girl clung to the back of an elder nevermore, comically flapping in the wind.

He gave a faint chuckle as he once more gave Ashley the controls, returning to the passenger bay to see it a wreck. "I am going to fucking kill that snobby little-" The bulkhead shook, Gavin, spinning on his heel towards the controls as he called out to Ashley. "Status report!" He called out, strapping into his seat as he grasped the controls once more.

"Elder nevermore flew close! Seems that two teams are wedged between it and an elder deathstalker!" Ashley shouted, the camera highlighting both monsters and the group of initiates between them. He glared down, fingers drumming on the side of his flight wheel as he resisted the temptation to help. The display began to show them running away from the deathstalker, straight into the trees to avoid the gaze of the nevermore. "Seems like they have a plan." He muttered to Ashley.

"To get cut off by the ravine ruins?" She commented, seeing them break from the tree line briefly to hug the outer walls of said ruins.

He felt his heel begin to tap against the floor of his cockpit, a light twitch in his fingers as he resisted the urge to intercept. He then keyed his radio to the teachers. "This is Green Sky to Chess Master. How copy?" He spoke, voice strained as he watched the group begin to split off and take a flanking approach to the nevermore. "This is Chess Master. Is something the matter Green Sky?" Ozpin's voice buzzed through, Gavin's eyes still transfixed on the group of initiates.

Just then the deathstalker from before broke through the tree line and rushed towards them. "Chess Master, the initiates are caught between two elder grimm! Permission to-" He was then cut off by the headmaster before finishing. "Green Sky, you've already interfered with one team's initiation. To interfere again will result in their failure. Is this something you wish to do?" Ozpin's voice sounded disgruntled as if he were growing disappointed with him.

He then began to think, that the team he had saved was kind, but had failed due to the dirty play by the other team. They were heartbroken and angry, and he couldn't blame them. If any shmuck could just become a huntsman by beating up your potential classmates and being a bully then they'd just be another run-of-the-mill kingdom-sponsored mercenary group.

Another thought came through his mind: Was he willing to put up with those types of people for an entire year? He began to make the comparison as he stared at the battle below, still anxious at the fighting. Ruby was perhaps standing out the most, seemingly calling shots as they pushed deeper into the ruins. Ruby showed a willingness to be helpful, even if it caused complications. She seemed like she genuinely wanted a better world. Compared to the brutish Cardin, who he guessed saw a few episodes of 'Day in the Life of Huntsmen' and thought it was all high-life living and pushing people around.

Little did most of those people know the huntsmen who appeared on that show are now dead due to incompetence.

"Green Sky is lowering orbit altitude, staying outside of intercept range. Out." He spoke, trying to shake the nerves he felt as he pushed the wheel forward. The light dip in his stomach quickly turned into a not as the nevermore took flight and dove towards the ruins, smashing a bridge that connected them and even sending an initiate flying.

"SHIT!" He yelled, grasping his control and feeling ice in his veins and his ears began to ring with the thumping of his heart. His eyes focused as he was ready to push to full throttle and dive for the initiate. Ashley however fought him on the wheel. "Gav calm down! Look!" She shouted, his heart practically drumming out of his chest as his eyes snapped to the display. The black-haired initiate uses her weapon to swing herself back onto a broken pillar.

He slumped back, hand gripping his chest as he let the panic soothe. "Gav..." Ashley spoke out, but he could barely hear her over the ringing in his ears. "A-Ash." He gasped slightly as he pulled himself back up. "Take the wheel, send a display of the camera to my helmet of the situation. I need to fix the bay." He controlled his words, letting the spike of fear subside as he retracted his pilot seat.

As he entered the messy bay and began to pick up trash and organize the bench containers, he kept checking the side display on the group. Anxiety spiking at every narrowly avoided fatal blow and massive chaos caused by them and the grimm. However as their fight went on, he got a little more into it as they grew confident in holding their ground. At least until he saw the blonde on Ruby's side of the ruins practically jump into the nevermore's mouth, blasting it with what looked to be some sort of gun gauntlet. Ruby and the white-haired imp seemed to be talking, maybe strategizing on how to take it down.

On the other side of the ruins, he watched a rather brutal showcase of efficiency the team struck the deathstalker in quick coordinated attacks, not giving it a chance to breathe. The blonde seemed to be doing the same as Ruby but with more focus on background tactics, perhaps someone more like Ozpin's level of leadership. Though, despite what a nosey AI would say, when he watched the deathstalker's stinger get broken off and then hammered into itself by the ginger girl he didn't pump his fist in the air at the sight of it.

However, what Ruby's side did would turn him speechless.

The blonde had unloaded enough of her ammo into the grimm bird's mouth that it lost focus, slamming into the side of the ravine wall that cradled the ruins. The blonde had landed fine, and Ruby was quick to seemly explain their strategy. The white-haired imp lunged forward, stabbing her rapier into the temple where it had landed, freezing its tail feathers into place. All the while the brunette and blonde cast a line between each other, stretching and holding it taut. Ruby then jumped forward, using her scythe to boost herself and compress the rope. The imp had repositioned herself behind Ruby and conjured some sort of emblem that held her in place.

Gavin's eyes widened, rushing back to the pilot console to confirm what he was seeing. Ruby was then released, her scythe firing behind her as she zipped towards the nevermore, hooking her scythe around the neck while the imp summoned what was a runway for her up the cliff. She then ran, dragging the bird by its neck up the jagged edge of the cliff, all the way up to the lip at the top. The nevermore got caught but Ruby kept going, scythe straining against the neck of the grimm.

The scythe proved victorious, slashing the bird's head clean off as Ruby flew into the air, before landing calmly on the edge of the cliff. Gavin stood there in shock, understandably so. While he had only been actively flying for a year, he had never seen an initiate do that. For someone as young as he was, decapitating elder grimm by hand was something of a rarity.

"Aww monitors say your heart rate went up! Are you-" "SHUSH!" Ashley attempted to tease but he just put a finger up in the air to the aircraft. "Come on admit it!" She yelled as he rolled his eyes under the helmet's visor. "Ash. The day I fall for a huntress is the day I crash and burn." He hissed, once more entering his seat and taking control of the aircraft.

The group only had a small walk to their rendezvous point now. Gavin began to fly ahead, hoping to sit down and personally meet them there, only to get a series of radar alarms going off near their said rally point. 'Gavin, major grimm horde is inbound! They're in the pickup area so we should grab them now!" She spoke, with urgency making it clear it was bad.

He nodded, flying closer to the group just over the tree canopy in hopes of beating the approaching horde.

Ruby had to admit that today wasn't going the way she had hoped. Being dropped into the middle of a grimm-infested forest is one thing. It's another to drag a nevermore by its neck up a cliff and decapitate it.

To put it simply: she was exhausted.

However, the cliff was also their final obstacle to their finish line, for they made it to the pickup zone. Yang had taken one of her arms around her neck, to help her move due to her low aura and fatigue. Weiss was no better, using her rapier like a cane after scaling the cliffside. Jaune and his group seemed slightly better off, but Ren seemed to limp with each step. Even Nora had lost a bit of energy during their battle.

Not even including their situation on ammo and dust, they wouldn't be able to survive another major encounter. But they shouldn't have to because they were there!

An empty clearing within the forest...

"Where's the bulkhead!?" Yang called out, concern slowly creeping into her face as they could feel a faint rumble. Blake quickly ran over to a nearby tree and climbed, her eyes narrowing in the distance. She felt her blood run cold at the sight of it.

Grimm. More than she's ever seen in her life. Rampaging through the forest, knocking down trees, and reducing everything in front of them to rubble. All of them were drawn straight to their position. Blake then felt her faunus ears flex beneath her bow, straining at the sound of a distant whine. Back on the ground, Ruby was moving between everyone, trying to get those who were ready to fight.

"Jaune, Pyrrha take the front! Yang, you too!" She called, the three quickly moving up and bracing for the horde. "Nora, don't let them get around us! Blake how long do we have!?" She called, voice cracking slightly as panic and uncertainty began to set into the group. "Less than a minute!" She yelled, jumping back down from the tree and running behind the line of initiates.

Ruby felt her chest heave as fear began to truly seize her. They can barely withstand a strong group of beowolves and ursa, let alone a horde. She trembled, her vision beginning to tunnel as the eyes of the group turned to her, expecting her to lead them.

Little did she know they weren't looking at her, but behind her.

The screech of an aircraft entered her ears as a great shadow loomed overhead, and a familiar green paint job came to her view. Its cannon spun as the passenger ramp dropped behind it in its low hover as she saw grimm trample out of the tree line in massive waves, clawing over each other to get to them. Her form was then nearly knocked back by a loud and horrifying sound.

'BRAWWWRROOOOOOAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRTTT'

The autocannon blasted with fury she'd never seen or heard a gun have, a massive fireball the size of HER left its front as it spewed lead and dust-infused projectiles at six-thousand rounds per minute. Its shockwave made her nearly deaf as she watched the group clambering and jumping onto the ramp, Ruby quickly joining them as she reeled back from her shock.

As she grabbed onto the ramp and was hauled up by Yang and Jaune, she fell to her knees within the bay, shaking slightly as the autocannon continued to rip into the horde. The interior became dark as the ramp closed with all souls on board. "Hello, this is your pilot speaking." A voice came to her, familiar as she clambered into a seat.

"Please buckle in because you've entered the HELLRIDE WITHOUT A PADDLE! Additional tasking was called in on a priority target while en route so we apologize for the thirty-second delay." Gavin spoke through the speaker calmly, but Ruby felt she needed her harness on immediately as she quickly fastened in for the ride.

Gavin wasn't ashamed to say he had a smile on his face as he mowed down droves of grimm, he didn't get many chances to use the autocannon for so long. Mainly because it ended fights a little quick.

"Cutting it a little close on the save Gav?" Ashley remarked as he gave an awkward chuckle. "I spent a little too much time calibrating the cannon for this, huh?" He nervously mumbled as Ashley gave him an annoyed sigh. "You're lucky I tagged that abomination." She hissed with a shutter in her voice.

Abominations are grimm who have mutated too much, living too long to the point they've developed improperly. Either they grew to building-sized behemoths or densely armored freaks with appendages sprouting everywhere, warping themselves into even more horrifying forms to the point they no longer resemble the original ones they were based on.

This one was no different, a beringel that lived long enough for its armor to become a think shell over its body, two massive arms sprouting from its shoulders asymmetrically. The target was dead center within the swarm, smart enough to know it had more time if it kept the fodder in the way.

"Ashley, maintain vision on the target. I'm gonna give it a gift." He spoke, changing his bulkhead into forward flight once more as he built up speed. "Beringel abomination is locked, ready for ordinance drop." Called as the monster glared at him, soaring around and avoiding straggling junior nevermores.

Climbing into the air and once more beginning to dive, he noticed something: the beringel had run to a tree, grabbing it by the base with its four arms. He once more began to gain momentum as he dove straight towards it, but braced himself as he tore the tree from its stump and held it over its shoulders.

"GAV-" Ashley was cut off by him ripping the flywheel to the side as the beringel had thrown the tree like a javelin, the wooden shaft scrapping the belly and knocking one of his bombs loose. "Damn it!" He snarled as the bomb fell short, wiping a section of forest clearing and the horde.

He began to slow his breathing as he maneuvered around for another attempt to line up the bomb, as he did the beringel began to rip up another tree. "No, you don't fucker!" He roared, gripping his throttle and flicking the side of its handle revealing a little red button. Pressing down, his engines shifted from their light blue hue to a bright neon green as he boosted forward. Afterburners were active, he closed in for the kill far quicker than the beringel abomination had intended, ripping his flight wheel back at the same time as him smashing the button on his weapon release.

As he pulled away, the beringel attempted to jump towards him with it a desperate reach of its arms.

It missed by a few inches, but Gavin was dead on target.

However, once the AAGM detonated, the shockwave rattled his bulkhead as he struggled to maintain control. Once he did, he could hear nothing but a freaking-out AI. "WILL IT FRICKING KILL YOU TO JUST DROP A BOMB AT, OH I DON'T KNOW, FIVE-HUNDRED METERS!? WHY DO YOU-" He groaned as he muted the angry AI, practically making her angrier.

At that same time, his controls were released, the AI silently seizing controls with a text display appearing on his helmet: "No more stunts of fire missions for the rest of the flight. Check your passengers." Gavin rolled his eyes but still held a smirk. "It would kill me, Ash. I want to be close enough to hit them with a stick." He hummed as he backed away from the controls and entered the passenger bay.

It was SO much worse now.

The blonde girl and ginger didn't listen when he told them to strap in, seeing them laid out across the floor groaning and moaning in pain. The green shirt guy and blonde boy were green in the face, the puddle in front of the blonde boy made it clear he lost it a good few seconds ago.

The imp, brunette, and redheaded spartan all had frazzled hair and were catching their breath. Finally, Ruby was closest to the ramp and was shaking, but besides that, she seemed completely fine and the only one completely strapped down per his instruction. He then pulled his sun visor back as he went to tend to the girls on the ground. Kneeling and helping the blonde girl, he spoke to the entirety of the bay.

"Auto-pilot is set to the return point. You've all passed, though I apologize for the rough ride at the end." He spoke through his helmet intercom as the blonde shook her daze away. "Rough ride doesn't begin to describe that fly-boy!" She shouted, shaking him off as she stood up on her own.

He rolled his eyes as he then moved to help the ginger, who was more accepting of his help. "Eliminating an abomination is a priority one if it appears. They disappear if we don't take them out on sight." He hissed, helping the kind ginger into a seat as he then went to each passenger to fix their harnesses. The blonde boy let out a sick groan, to which he responded with a complimentary trash bag.

"Please, I can't afford any more mess or damage on my bird." He muttered as he continued his check, moving to the brunette and imp. The brunette was striking, a silent beauty who nodded with thanks as he helped fix her harness. As for the imp? She went on a long rant about how she could help herself, followed by a solid two minutes of attempts to do so, and then silent compliance as he did it for her.

Finally, Ruby, whom he glanced over and knelt down. Dusting off her shoulders, he spoke with a welcoming look. "Looks like the 'poor social skills club' made it to Beacon two years early." He chuckled, seeing her giving a small nervous but soft smile at him. "Y-Yeah. T-Thought we were g-goners for a second there." She stuttered as he nodded.

"Hey, despite what they say, no matter what year you are or what class you're in. I'll always have a huntsman's back." His eyes showed reassurance as Ruby looked up at him, her shaking stopping as her smile grew wider. He then finally went back to the blonde girl, who sat with a cautious look on her face as he approached.

"Oi bub, how do you know my little sis?" She spoke, bouncing her knee as he crossed his arms. "I'll tell once you put your harness on. " He hummed as she gave a teasing smirk. "Wow, didn't know you were into that play. Though this doesn't look like a shibari harness~." She leaned forward, but Gavin stepped back to the wall barring the cockpit.

Pulling a clip attached to a line on his coverall belt, he hooked into a ring on the ceiling and put a hand on a console. "Last warning." Niceness seemed to leave his tone as the blonde's eyes widened. "You wo-" The blonde didn't have much to say as she now clung to her seat as the ramp dropped mid-flight. Ruby seemed to be panicking once more as the entire bay seemed to do so as well.

Once Gavin decided it was enough, he raised the ramp again and put his hands on his hips. "Harness or fresh air? Pretty hair doesn't help you fly princess." He hummed as the blonde's eyes shifted red as she growled, standing up only to watch his tone completely shift. "SIT BACK DOWN NOW!" He barked, sounding completely different as she fell into the seat and narrowed his eyes at her. Having enough, Gavin then grabbed the harness and did it himself.

"Hey, don't you to- ACK!" The blonde once more was cut off, but by him tightening the harness around her waist. "I swear you huntresses get launched a few hundred meters in the air and think you're immortal." He growled as he clipped the belts that sat around her shoulders. "A two-mile drop will still kill you and y'all think it won't ever happen. Hello, we're traveling at five hundred KNOTS PER HOUR. You'll be sucked out faster than you can say: 'Oops'!" He continued his one-sided argument until he stopped at the chest part of the harness.

Backing away, he once more addressed the blonde. "You can do that part can't you?" He muttered, the blonde gave another shot at teasing, however. "What? They don't bite~." She purred, but his hand once more went to the console. The blonde quickly finished the harness with a groan. "I swear to you, you're no fun." She groaned as he rolled his eyes.

"If you think dropping half-ton bombs and firing twenty-five-millimeter exploding shells at six-thousand rounds per minute into hordes of grimm as 'not fun' then you're entertained by watching paint dry." He shot back, seeing a look of surprise come to her face as she smirked. "Good times can be felt in many different ways-" "YANG!" Ruby had cut off the blonde, Gavin now knowing her to be Yang, as she showed to have a beet-red face.

"Come on Rubes! I'm just having a bit of fun, after all: we passed!"

When the bulkhead touched down and the ramp dropped, Gavin had learned all their names. Yang and Blake were the first out, followed by Pyrrha, Ren, Nora, and the imp named Weiss. Jaune stayed back to help clean his mess a bit but was next out. Ruby was the last to leave, but not before grabbing his hand with a tight grip.

"Thank you!" She called out before rushing to the rest of the group. Gavin sat there and pondered, staring at his hand.

With a smile, he walked back into his bulkhead. Ready to return to the hangar for a chance for some rest.

Personal Remarks/ Messages:

"Hello RWBY fandom/ viewers. I'm ADHATroglodyte, an amateur writer and full-time nerd. If you've made it this far past the 'new writer' charm of my story then I want to say thank you. For both the support of the idea and feedback/ criticism. I know I don't really have a 'following' and more of a bunch of cool people browsing the fresh category for new stories to read. Yet I still am grateful that even if you don't like the story of if this is where you stop reading, I'm happy you've taken the time to at least give it a chance. As stated in the status I'll take a quick day break to keep myself from burning out and running out of ideas. I'll still keep editing and updating the other chapters at this time as well to ensure nobody is too turned away at the opening of this.

To close out, I want to know how well I'm doing. I know I missed a few words here and there or I'm typing so fast I don't see some of my errors. These will be found and corrected, sentences may be restructured, and punctuation will be changed. I'm more concerned about the story itself and where you'd guys like to see it. My initial idea is to make it relative to canon but with a more expanded world. To show the conflict of interest between both other kingdoms and the academies along with someone who I think will make sense as a character within the world and in those areas of conflict. Though to FINALLY wrap this up so I can sleep, I'm infinitely grateful that you took the time to read this far and I hope to know what y'all are thinking."
