Chapter 5-Lakeside Village of Explosives
After walking down the path and entering through a dark tunnel, the turtle brothers arrived at a small fishing village. However, they had noticed that the houses there were a lot more worn down and damaged than the ones in the first village they went to.
"Shell, dis place looks really run down…" Raph exclaimed.
"Wait a second…" Donnie suddenly said before he took out his shell cell and took another look at the map. Then, he gasped as his eyes widened.
"What is it Donnie?" Leo questioned.
"This is it; the area that was crossed near a lake on the map!" He announced.
"Then, dat means Mikey must be around here somewhere…!" Raph concluded in realisation.
"Alright, that's good…Let's take a look around, but be careful…" Leo replied in a serious tone.
With their firearms in hand, the turtle brothers began their walk through the little village. However, what they didn't know was that they were being watched from the shadows.
"It's so quiet…" Donnie pointed out in a whisper.
"Yeah…I don't like it…" Raph agreed whilst checking every angle of the area around him.
Suddenly…
Tsssssssssss!
The turtle brothers heard a sizzling noise before two small bags with burning rope sticking out landed in front of them. It took them just seconds to realise that they were hand-made bombs!
"Scatter!" Leo cried out before he dodged away from the bombs and took shelter in a house.
Raph and Donnie saw them too and had managed to dive into another house nearby just before the bombs exploded. Once the smoke had cleared, the turtle brothers stood back up and looked out of the windows to see some villagers standing outside with their weapons at the ready.
"What da-? It's an ambush!" Raph shouted.
"Yeah, and they're using hand-made bombs…!" Donnie added.
"Turtles, attack!" Leo commanded before he took out his handgun and started shooting through the window.
Raph and Donnie took out their own firearms and starting shooting at the villagers; Donnie was using the window, and Raph was using the doorway for cover whilst he fired at them.
As soon as the villagers were down, the turtle brothers left the safety of their houses and ran further into the village. However, more started to pop up out of nowhere and began throwing their own bombs at the trio.
"Heads up!" Leo alerted his brothers before he dodged the first bomb that landed near him, with Raph doing the same on his side.
"Fore!" Donnie shouted before he whacked two of the bombs with his bo staff and watched as they flew back to their throwers and exploded a second later.
"Shell, yeah!" Raph cheered with a punch in the air.
"Don't celebrate, yet; we've got more incoming!" Leo told him firmly as he pointed at the incoming villagers behind the trio.
The turtle brothers immediately started running, and they were heading towards a wooden wall on their left side. Suddenly, another pair of villagers appeared at the top of the wall and threw their bombs from above.
"Run!" Leo shouted before he and his brothers ran for their lives.
The bombs landed right behind them, and then…
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
"Waaaaaaah! Oof!" The turtle brothers cried out as they were sent flying by the bombs' power after they exploded before they landed hard in front of another house.
"G-Get inside, quick!" Leo commanded shakily as he and his brothers stood back up and ran inside the house before closing the door.
When they looked around the house, they spotted something rope-like hanging in the middle and attached to a device on the left side of the wall.
"Huh? What's dis?" Raph questioned before he started getting closer to the device, but Donnie quickly held him back.
"No! Don't touch that; it's a wired detonator! One touch on the wire, and it'll blow!" Donnie warned when he assessed the device fully.
"Oh, then maybe we should turn it off…" Raph suggested.
"Actually, Raph, I think we can use this to our advantage…Follow my lead…" Leo told him before he ran back outside to face the villagers.
"Hey! Over here! Come and get us!" He shouted whilst waving his arms about in the air.
"Wha-!? Are ya crazy, Leo!?" Raph questioned in shock.
"Trust me!" Leo told him before he ran back inside when he saw the villagers starting to chase after him.
"Quick, move under the wire and get to the other side!" Leo commanded urgently.
His brothers didn't need to be told twice; they and Leo quickly but carefully crawled underneath the tripwire and reached the other side of the room just as the villagers entered the house.
"Come on, ya freaks, we're right here…!" Raph taunted.
The hostile villagers growled and slowly creeped towards them, not paying attention to the wire in front of them.
"Get down!" Leo told his brothers as he grabbed them, ran out of the house, and dove into some shrubbery nearby.
Than, a moment later...
BOOM!
The trap was triggered, and the villagers were blown away and killed in an instant. Once the smoke had cleared and the atmosphere had calm down, the turtle brothers left the shrubbery.
"Phew…Well, that went better than expected…!" Leo exclaimed in relief.
"Yeah…Hopefully, there won't be any more surprise attacks as we carry on through this village…" Donnie prayed.
"Well, let's hurry up and get goin' then! We still need ta find Mikey…!" Raph pressed.
The others agreed, and they continued on with their search for their youngest brother.
After another few minutes of walking, the turtle brothers were now near the large lake and saw another house in front of them, but it looked different to the ones they had come across in the village; it was more structurally sound, and the front door had a padlock on it to keep outsiders from entering.
"Could this be the place where Mikey's being held prisoner?" Leo asked Donnie.
"It has to be; it's the only house that's fully intact and secured…!" Donnie answered confidently.
"Ok, then let's go in there and get him outta there…!" Raph replied with a fist in his other hand.
"Alright, I'm gonna break the lock and open the door…Be prepared for anything…" Leo told his brothers before he cut off the lock and slowly opened the door, whilst preparing himself both physically and mentally for what might be inside.
