I hugged her tighter.
Couldn't I have gone back then?
Things would have been so different!
"I... I wanted to tell you... But... I..." she said.
"Bella... We can discuss this later... You need to get some rest. Maybe you should get some sleep," I said.
I didn't think she was in the right state of mind to discuss anything right now. Maybe all the stress was taking a toll on her now.
"Dad... He... He wanted to leave Mom... But he... Because of me..." she said and cried harder.
Dad?
Mom?
I had no fucking idea about what she just said.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"No.. I... I..." she stuttered as she pulled herself away.
What the hell did she mean?
Charlie wanted to leave Renee?
And what did she mean by "But he... Because of me..." ?
"Bella, talk to me." I said.
"You... You... Why did you come here? Carlie is sleeping... You shouldn't have come here..." Suddenly she seemed to stop crying and she raised her voice, "Why are you bothering me?"
Okay, she was attacking me again!
So I guess there was something bothering her and she didn't want to share it with me, and hence, she's attacking me!
Hah!
How many times has this happened already?
Why didn't I realize this earlier?
Why did I always counter attack?
"Bella, you can talk to me. I'm not going to judge you or anyone," I said.
"You are not going to judge me?" she said incredulously, "I don't really care if you judge me or not. I don't give a damn about you."
So stubborn!
In a normal situation, I'd have shouted back.
But right now I felt like I needed to go back and revisit our each fight!
Had it always been like this?
Did she always fight with me on trivial issues because there was something going on in her mind? And instead of trying to understand the root cause, I just fought back with passion!
God!
"I think you should leave now," she said.
Were there some issues between Renee and Charlie? They looked like a happy couple to me, but maybe I didn't know anything!
Was that something always impacting her?
Was she trying to compare our relationship to theirs?
"I said... leave," she said as she pushed me away and opened the door.
She was so stubborn!
