Chapter 3 - Team seven

It was seven in the morning, the sun was shining youthfully on the training ground seven, Sasuke and Sakura were waiting for their third teammate and sensei to arrive for the last two hours, well Sasuke was waiting while Sakura was finding this a very good opportunity to spend some quality time with her Sasuke-Kun as of right now she has made forty six failed attempts to engage in a conversation with the last Uchiha but when it came to her Sasuke-Kun she will never give up,

"Hehe, Sasuke-Kun and I have been all alone all this time this is the best if only Naruto and sensei are late like this every day, I'll win over my love in no time,"

"I am going to kill them!"

Both Sasuke and Sakura were busy in their own thoughts when Naruto walked into the field,

"Hu? What are you two doing here so early?"

Sasuke glared at Naruto, "what are you talking about Dobe? We were supposed to be here at five, you are severely late," Sasuke spat out with contempt, he couldn't sleep properly last night because of this extra test and he didn't have any breakfast either, on top of that he had to spend last two hours with this annoyance all by himself, to say he did not appreciate Naruto's casual behavior was an understatement,

Naruto raised an eyebrow at the remark and asked, "So, you telling me you didn't learn anything yesterday?"

Sasuke had a shock look which quickly turned into anger, he opened his mouth to answer Naruto's jab when,

Poof

"Yo,"

The three Genins turned their heads to find their Sensei,

Clencing Teath

"You are late," said Sasuke barely holding his anger,

"Yes, you see a black cat crossed my path on my way here and when I tried to go past the other way the cat came there too and since it was so early nobody was coming to clear it for me,"

"It's alright sensei we all are late sometimes or the other," said Sakura is a very sweet tone,

Sasuke's eye was twitching frantically and Naruto's muffled laughter wasn't helping him in any way,

"Alright it looks like we have wasted enough time, it time for your test," Kakashi said in a serious tone,

The three were standing in front of their sensei, their lunch box kept on a wooden log along with a timer,

Kakashi eyed his three students carefully before,

Chime

Drawing out his two bal- I mean bells, "Your mission is to get these bells from me whoever manages to get a bell in three hours by any mean necessary will pass and those who fail will go back to the academy,… after being tied the log post behind them,"

Sasuke was not concerned at all this was a piece of cake for an elite like him,

Grumbel, but this empty stomach was going to be problem,

Naruto figured what Kakashi was trying to pull immediately, if spending so much time playing shogi with Shikamaru taught him one thing is never to take a bait, Kakashi was baiting them to turn on each other only problem was Sasuke was too hungry and arrogant to figure that and Sakura…, well she must have convinced herself by now that he can form a Team with herself and Sasuke alone.

True to Naruto's thoughts Sakura asked a question with gleam in her eyes "But sensei there are only two bells,"

"Yes, Sakura there are only two bells which means one of you is definitely going back to the academy,"

Sakura had a new found determination in her eyes she would make sure She and Sasuke-Kun got those bells at any cost, Naruto Baka can go back to the academy he was the dead last after all.

"Sigh, this will be fun," thought Naruto Sarcastically,

"Alright your time starts, NOW,"

Kakashi saw both Sasuke and Sakura jumping back into the trees, they were doing a good enough job for genins he supposed but his main area of concern right now was standing in front of him right now,

"Don't you think you should go and hide as well, Naruto,"

Naruto simply shrugged and said "What's the point? If I can hide from you there shouldn't be any need for this test,"

Kakashi was surprised hearing Naruto's logic but chalked it down to him pulling it out of his ass "Fair enough I suppose,"

"That being said," Naruto got into a fighting stance, "I would like to fight you head on,"

Kakashi raised an eyebrow as he saw Naruto running towards him "He can't be serious,"

Naruto charged at Kakashi and engaged in a series of kicks and punches with him but Kakashi didn't felt like taking someone of Naruto's status seriously in a fight so he engaged with him only using one hand using his other hand to read his Love Novel

Kakashi pushed Naruto back with barely any trouble and continued to humiliate him and his clones in various ways throwing him into the river, hanging him to a tree and some other things as well,

Back in the woods Sasuke was watching the spar between Naruto and Kakashi very carefully this shadow clone jutsu was very interesting to him and if used properly could be a very interesting tool in his arsenal, he never expected Naruto to last this long against Kakashi but if he could tier their sensei out even a little bit before he made his move that could give him some form of upper hand in the exam so he decided to simply watch the fight for now,

However, what Sasuke didn't know was there was a Naruto sitting right behind him for a long time now waiting for him to notice it, tired of waiting on the raven-haired boy the clone taped on his Sholder to get his attention,

"AH-" Naruto's clone placed his hand on Sasuke's mouth motioning him to keep quiet,

Sasuke was shocked to see a second Naruto and decided to make it known "Dobe? But how? You were just?"

"It's called a Shadow Clone Sasuke don't worry about it now we need to pass this test or you are going back to the academy"

Sasuke overcome his shock after hearing Naruto words and said while narrowing his eyes "I don't need your help to pass this test dobe, I can get those bells all by myself,"

"Is that the reason you have been waiting for me to tier him out? Trust me that's going to take a lot more than a spar,"

Sasuke didn't like the fact that his plan was out in the open decided to divert the conversation "If you know that then why even bother?"

"I am buying time"

"To do what exactly?"

"To make us work together,"

"I don't need your help Dobe."

"Sigh, fine how about this then?"

Puff

Clone-San said while bringing his hand forward and with a puff of smoke there was something wrapped in dry leaves in his hand,

Sasuke took the object from his hand, opening it he found two rice balls,

Sasuke eyed the two white triangles with wrapped black Nori before eyeing the clone who just smiled,

Sasuke brought his attention back to the item in his hand and for some reason his hunger had gone up by several levels after seeing the them, with a little hesitation Sasuke decided to sell his pride and eat the rice balls once he was done, he felt much better and ready to fight before he heard

"Well?"

He looked at the clone who was waiting for him to say something, "Than- Thank you for the food"

"Aaaaaaand?"

Sasuke didn't really want to say it but he was in a tight spot right now so with a heavy sigh he decided to give into the clones demands,

"Aha! Fine what's your plan?"

The clone gave a huge smile to Sasuke before explaining his plan

"Why do we need Sakura for this your clone should be more than enough to do something like this with a simple henge, that was the only thing you knew how to do properly in the academy,"

"Trust me we need her to do this otherwise it won't work"

Sasuke wasn't really sure about the whole Sakura part but didn't press on it,

"Fine then, go and tell her the plan,"

"You really think she'll listen to me?"

He knew where this was going and he didn't want it to go there, but he also knew there was no other way,

With an annoyed tone he said "Fine,"

"Fine what?"

Sasuke was very close to dispel the clone with a good punch but knew nothing would come out of it,

"I'll do it,"

Clone-san gave him a pat on the back and said "That's more like it, go and take one for the team,"

"Whatever," Sasuke said while getting up from his seat on the ground and started to move towards Sakura's location when the clone called him, he turned back only to catch an apple thrown at him,

"Give this to her," Sasuke nodded and moved out of the scene,

The clone then dispelled itself after taking another look at Naruto and Kakashi who were still fighting,

Kakashi grabbed Naruto's wrist as he was trying to punch him "How about you let others take a chance as well Naruto, while you go in the woods and come up with a real plan this time,"

"Oh, but you don't need to wait for that sensei," Naruto said with a smirk,

On cue Sasuke launched a fire ball from the bushes causing Kakashi to dodge the attack Naruto used this opportunity to launch a series of kunai and shuriken at Kakashi who managed to dodge them as well,

Both Naruto and Sasuke engaged into a 2v1 against Kakashi, their team work was not bad but it looked like Naruto had to step aside on multiple occasions as Sasuke tried to outshine him, Kakashi expertly deflected ever punch, kick, knee, elbow and palm thrown at him reading their moves like a hawk Sasuke got irritated by it decided to take things to the next level, he jumped back from both and launched his attack,

"Fire Style – Phenix Flower Jutsu"

Both Naruto and Kakashi had to jump out of the way of the attack

"Oye Teme we are on the same side here," Naruto said visibly pissed about being burnt,

"Uhhhh! Shut up Dobe don't get in my way," Sasuke said before running ahead at Kakashi with a Kunai in hand,

Naruto didn't like seeing his plan being tossed in the air so he too decided to run at Kakashi but before he reached him,

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"

A loud scream echoed through the ground catching Kakashi's attention but since both Naruto and Sasuke were expecting the signal they didn't loose their focus and decided to intiate their plan,

Suddenly two hands emerged from the ground grabbing Kakashi's legs restricting his movements,

"So, you'll use that chance to get the bells?"

"No Kakashi won't go down that easily, he'll summer sault back words pulling my clone out of the ground and slamming it into me while I run towards him"

Kakashi Summer saulted backwards pulling the clone out of the ground causing a running Naruto to run into the clone, what Kakashi didn't expect was for both Narutos to erupt into a smoke explosion,

"And when he can't see anything while trying to process what happened just then you will have a small window while he is still in mid air to jump and grab the bells"

A still mid air Kakashi saw Sasuke jump from the smoke and grab the bells from his waist, they have passed this phase of the exam and it was time for the last test,

Sasuke was standing in middle of the Training ground with a smug look on his face, the bells jingling in his hands in front of Kakashi when Naruto and Sakura got out of their hiding place from either side of the ground,

"Ummmmm! Sasuke-Kun I knew you can do it; you are the best!" Sakura said while skipping towards the young Uchiha who decided to get out of the young Kunoichi's way,

"Yes he did but there is still a small issue in hand," Kakashi began to say while taking out his orange book getting the attention of all three Genins,

Kakashi continued while turning the pages "Sasuke you are the one who got both bells so you must decide who gets the second one and who goes back to the academy,"

Sakura blinked twice before erupting into laughter, "Ahahahaha, isn't it obvious sensei, why would Sasuke-Kun chose Naruto over me he was the dead last when I was the Kunoichi of the year," Sakura said before turning toward Naruto and continuing in a very good mood, "Sorry Naruto, better luck next time, I mean its not the first time you failed the exam right Sasuke-Kun,"

Sakura was waiting for Sasuke to back her up and wish Naruto good bye but that never came, with a confused look she looked at Sasuke waiting for an answer, "hu? Sasuke-Kun?"

"What makes you think you deserve this bell Sakura?" Sasuke asked shocking Sakura, "The only thing you did in this exam was scream when it was me and Naruto who did all the fighting,"

Sakura couldn't believe what she was hearing, was Sasuke was really going to choose Naruto over her? No there was no way, right?

"Wh-what are you saying Sasuke-Kun, Naruto is the dead last, the class clown, you - YOU CAN'T CHOOSE A FOOL LIKE HIM OVER ME,"

"You are the fool here Sakura," Sasuke said shutting Sakura up, "Yesterday when I asked you about your thoughts on Naruto you had no problem berating him and chalking down his behavior as a result of the Privilege of not having a family, I don't need you on my team go back to the academy," Sasuke continued while giving a bell to Naruto,

Sakura was on the verge of tears at this point, why? Why would Sasuke choose a Baka over her? She was the Kunoichi of the year, she was placed on the same team as Sasuke because of that, her mother was so happy when he heard that, Ino-pig already passed her Exam, she cannot fail like this, not like this not because of that-

Chime

Sakura's train of thought was cut-off at the sound of bell in front of her,

"My My don't cry Sakura-Chan, here you can take my bell," Naruto said while jiggling his bell in front of Sakura,

"What!?" Sasuke asked in utter shock, Sakura couldn't believe what she was hearing either, in her absent mindness she just took the bell, she tried to say something but was cut off when Naruto waved his hand in front of her,

"I don't need a sensei to achieve my dreams, and as you said its not the first time I failed the exam,"

Naruto started to walk away from the group with Kakashi eyeing him critically, Sakura not knowing what to say and Sasuke, well let's just say he was feeling like the fool here now,

"Wait!" Sasuke called out causing Sakura and Kakashi to look at him and Naruto to stop on his track and look back,

Sasuke threw his bell at Naruto's feet making him pick it up and giving Sasuke a questioning look,

"I don't need your charity, you are the one who came up with the plan to take down Kakashi not me, I am not going to stand here and take credit for someone else's work take this bell, If a Dobe like you don't need a sensei then I don't either,"

Kakashi knew he was supposed to feel proud hearing something like this but for some reason he wasn't,

Sasuke walked past Sakura Kakashi and at last Naruto, both men knew what it was, The Uchiha Pride, a feeling akin to the will of fire, the only difference was that where the will of fire protected the village, the Uchiha pride protected the Uchiha Name, It is said that the Uchiha were even more proud of their name than their Sharingan since even if not all Uchiha awoke the Doujutsu, all of them beared the same name, To them being given the last name was a blessing and they would never do anything that would drag their name through the mud apparently taking full credit of passing a exam when all you did was follow the plan was considered dragging your name through the mud, but Sakura didn't knew this all she saw was that her crush was failing the exam because of her she can't let that happen, she wont be able to work in this team like that,

"Sasuke-Kun!" Sakura called as she ran up to Sasuke and offered him the bell Naruto gave her, "You can take it, I don't want to be a part of this team without you," Sakura said with as much conviction as she could muster, unfortunately for her Sasuke saw through her hesitation and was about to deny the bell when,

"You all…" Kakashi began getting the attention of all his students, "Pass."

"What!" said in unison all three of them, some pretending some genuinely shocked,

"The real motive of this test was to test your team work not your skills, all three of you worked together to get these bells and were willing to sacrifice them for each other irrespective of your reasons to do so," Kakashi explained, "Those who break the rules are scum, but those who abandon their comrades are worse than scum."

With those words Team seven was formed and it was time to go on thrilling D rank missions.

Naruto walked on an old grassy road through a baren city with high japanies style buildings on which the nature had taken over, all the bulding on his sides were heavily cracked through which roots were making thier way, trees were growing over the buildings and different animals and birds had made it their humble adobe, and yet their stood a tower higher than any other building in the city in perfect condition without even a single scratch on it this city was distroyed 50 years ago during the second great war its habitants escaped and scattered all over the elemental nations while the rulers of this city The Uzumaki Clan faught to protect it against the combined might of four great hidden villages and several smaller villages, this was Uzushio and the building naruto was walking towards was the clan compound thriugh which the Uzumaki watched over the city dispite all their power the enemy forces could not breach the barrier which protected the most important secreats of his clan since only a direct dicendent of the clan head could undo the barrier, so they decided to ransac the city far all the valubles they could scrap and leave, Naruto found this place with five to six years ago with the help of his Great Grandfather Uzumaki Ashina's Student and decided make this his hiding place for him and his friends and ever since he learned the Flying Thunder God this place became all the more accessable.

Naruto walked in to the building where he was jumped by a very dangerous creature one that all men feared irrespective of how strong they are or how many battles they have faught, no amount of training or planning can help you win against something like this, if you came accross it in your lifetime all you could do is admit defeat and beg for mercy,

"Tau-chan Tau-chan you are back, you promised to take me out to play remember so lets go letsgo!" said a four year old red haired girl with purple eyes while jumping on Naruto's sholders and pulling his hair, all naruto colud do was to close his eyes and took punishiment like a man,

"Kushi-chan get off of Naruto you are being mean," came from another four year old girl while running towards the two, this one had black hair and black eyes wearing a grey training uniform, "Our training isn't complete yet, Kasumi will be mad if she found out we went to play without completing our track,"

Naruto smiled at the girls before saying "Its all right Miko-chan, i'll tell Kasumi I took you both out, so you want to come?"

The now named Miko had a thouthfull look on her face, last time they made Kasumi angry she was very pissed, "I might even buy you some dumplings,"

"Ok if you insist," Miko said with all the doubts being replaced with some tasty toughts,

"Hey, what about me?" the now name Kushi asked, "And what do you want?" asked Naruto while looking up on his head the little red haired monkey still sitting on his sholder, "Ramen!"

"Ofcourse you do," said Naruto with a dead face

They wont be going to wave just yet new characters needs to be introduced and Sasuke needs to be stronger as they should have never survived their first encounter with zabuza, it will be months before the go to wave, and they will skip this chunin exam so that they can prepare better for the next, I am not sending three months of genins to the forest of death they will have to train for nine months at least for that so lets just say this chunin exam happened in Kiri and they didn't send teams their because of the blood line purge as Konoha, Iwa and Kumo all have strong bloodline users they will send in the exams to Konoha after nine months.
