LOCATION: The streets of Racoon City
Jill couldn't shoot the zombie that hungrily edged towards her- she knew that she needed to conserve the ammunition if this was any thing like what happened at the Spencer mansion, then she knew that she would likely encounter larger and angrier creatures.
Jill turns on the heels of her boots and runs out into the street, her heart still grieving the loss of a good friend when all of a sudden a large neon sign crashed directly in her path,
Jill shielded her face from the angry sparks that threatened to singe her skin.
Although it wasn't exactly safe she needed to keep running, getting on the ground she crawled under the bright sign blocking her path, Zombies from some nearby wrecked bus soon begin to take note of her presence,
Jill thinking quick burst through a set of iron gates into yet another ally when she suddenly became aware of something above.
A light blinded her as she winced up at her possible salvation
"You down there- get to the parking garage roof!" the pilot of the helicopter yelled down through the thrashing noise of the choppers blades
"Parking garage, got it" she was relieved at the sight of the helicopter, perhaps she really did have a guardian angel somewhere.
Jill follows the bright spotlight- using a nearby warehouse as a quick shortcut, but she doesn't expect to find a 'living' middle aged man already inside the warehouse.
He had his back to her, but she could tell that he was frantically looking for somewhere to hide from the nightmares outside.
"Sir- are you alright?" her voice causes the old man to visibly panic at the realisation that he was no longer alone,
"Stay back, don't come any closer!" the terrified stranger cried as he looked around for an escape,
Jill felt her mind immediately slide back into 'professional mode'
Suspended or not she was still a law enforcement officer, and when she made a pledge to protect and serve she has meant every word of it
"Hey, there's a helicopter waiting to take us to safety" Jill attempted to reassure the frightened citizen as he climbed into an open shipping container
"What safety? I'm not going out there!" the man sneered at her with distain
"The parking garage isn't far; I can take you there" she tries again at attempting to persuade the stubborn man out of the container and hopefully to safety.
"The only safe place is in here!" the unstable man loudly protested as he slammed the shipping container door shut sealing himself in.
Jill sighed and knocked on the container demanding his attention
"Sir what's your name? I can't just leave you behind" all her cop instincts were yelling at her that she could save him, that if she could just get this man to safety, that if she could just save one life then maybe she would be able to sleep a little easier at night.
"It's Dario Rosso. And yeah right, you just want to steal my safehouse, find your own missy" Jill glared at the container
"Missy?" she mumbled to herself getting more and more annoyed by the stupid man, 'Sticks and Stones' Jill thought to herself as she was no stranger to unpleasant sexist behaviour working in what was mostly an all-male profession.
"Would you please clam down? I'm a police officer, I'm here to help" Jill insisted hoping that the chauvinist would see reason, she was a trained professional especially in a crisis- having her on your good side would be a positive thing.
"Oh yeah? You've been doing a bang-up job. You wanna help? Go and handcuff yourself to one of those freaks" Jill rolled her eyes, clearly Dario wasn't a fan of law enforcement.
Jill knocks again harder on the sealed shipping container-
"Sir this is your last chance. No one else is coming for you" she was now becoming impatient, the light from the helicopter above shinned through the broken roof reminding her that she was on a tight deadline and dreaded that the pilot may leave without her if she took too long.
"I'm not going anywhere!" Dario defiantly yelled from inside the container, she had no choice she had to go,
"I'd rather starve to death in here than be eaten by one of those undead monsters" 'screw it' Jill thought to herself as the man would most certainly die in that container, a victim of his own stubbornness.
Jill escapes through the back of the warehouse thankfully finding some more bullets for her gun, she quickly grabbed them as a Zombie dog crashed into the barbwire fence, it barked at her with a pure ravenous hunger.
Jill continued in the direction of the parking garage, using the bright light from the helicopter as a guiding star.
The wreck of a crashed lorry blocked her path, not wanting her ride to leave without her she crawled under the wreck,
A zombie that was trapped under the overturned vehicle tries to grab her, it's jaws hungry for her flesh drooled and spat at her, she turned her head away from the undead creature.
The parking garage was now in front of her, a Zombie that was once the parking attendant banged angrily on the windows of its small ticket cubicle,
Jill pays it no attention and quickly presses the elevator button.
The sound of growling made it clear that the undead were coming for her, but as the elevator doors slid open two Zombies exited, one of the practically falling on top of her.
Jill pushed the walking corpse to the floor whilst the second Zombie walked towards her, its rotting hand reaching out for what it hoped was its dinner.
Jill is forced to shoot the Zombie, calling on all her S.T.A.R.S combat training she is able to get the Zombie down in two shots.
Jill pressed the button for the elevator again willing the metal doors to slide open quicker, moments before the Zombie from the floor could reach her, she darted in, but had to kick the undead creature back as its arm reached for her through there elevators sliding doors.
Jill frantically pressed the button for the roof
"Come on" she urged the elevator to move quicker.
Jill felt relief as the doors opened the loudness of the helicopter blades meant she had made it; the white spotlight illuminated the whole roof
"Hey down here!" she yelled and waved her arms at her means of rescue as it started to descended upon the parking garage roof
"Hey get in!" the pilot yelled to her, her body filled with relief as she made her way through the maze of parked cars towards the light that was surly her salvation.
However, her relief was quickly shattered into a million tiny pieces as a large explosion caused the helicopter to lose control,
Jill watched in horror as the pilot attempted to control his vehicle to no avail as it sharply plummeted into the roof creating an explosion that sent Jill flying into the body of a parked car.
What she suddenly saw walking towards her in the shadows made her blood run cold,
The creature that had been chasing her hadn't given up its hunt yet.
Jill frantically looked around for a means of defending herself from the creature, she opened the door of the car that she had previously crashed into and pulled its dead driver out of the seat
"Sorry" she mumbled as the body tumbled to the floor.
Looking up she saw that the creature was still slowly and menacingly approaching clearly not worried about what she would do next.
Jill twisted the key in the ignition only for the engine to make a hopeless 'click, click, click' noise
"Shit" she whispered to herself, she furiously twisted the key again 'click, click, click'
Jill's breathing quickly became erratic as her stalker got closer when finally the cars engine roared to life,
Jill forced the stick into gear and pressed her boot down on the accelerator.
"Its my turn Bitch!" she furiously yelled at her relentless stalker as she floored the pedal crashing directly into the creature, but unfortunately for Jill things don't go according to plan, plus the creature itself was much bigger than the car.
Its giant fist smashed through the glass and powerfully held Jill by her neck,
Jill forced all her weight into the accelerator- way past the small cars limit, until all of a sudden, she was weightless.
She had driven both herself and the creature off the side of the roof,
Jill had little chance to prepare for the painful impact of the ground, pain flared through her whole body as metal twisted around her leaving her gasping for breath on the roof of the upside-down wreck.
Jill painfully turned her head to her left, her heart sank as the large monster seemingly unaffected by the fall raised to its feet,
Jill began to crawl away- the smell of gasoline filled her nose and she's only free of the wreck just before the car explodes, more pain shot through her muscles as the explosion pushed her into the road.
Jill looked up in horror as the creature continued to walk through the flames of the inferno, the plastic wrap covering its face began to melt away and Jill swore it would be a sight that would remain with her for the rest of her life.
Its face was a living nightmare- a contortion of inhuman flesh, a giant mouth, and oversized teeth
"Hey, fuckface!" a female voice yelled distracting the creature from its original prey.
Suddenly a rocket was launched in its direction- the creature catches with its tentacle that protruded from its arm,
Annoyed by the attack it threw the explosive into a car with ease as it narrowed its gaze recognising the red-headed Avenger perched on the roof of a police car with a very big rocket launcher aimed at it.
"AVENGER" the creature growled with anger,
This B.O.W had been infected with a primary objective 'Kill S.T.A.R.S" but also a complex threat assessment matrix and unfortunately for Natasha Romanoff it recognised her as a threat to its objective- and its existence.
Before the B.O.W can react against her she fires another 'her last' rocket at the creature catching it right where the Black Widow had aimed it to go,
The creature collapsed in a flaming heap keeping it down for good- at least that what Black Widow hoped.
Natasha ran to the woman laying in the street- discarding the now useless rocket launcher,
Jill stared up at her rescuer in awe, an Avenger- here in Racoon City, the infamous Black Widow had saved her life.
"You- you're an Avenger" Jill stuttered her words, she mentally kicked herself for being such a gibbering mess in front of her all time favourite hero,
Black Widow gave Jill a small smile, but Jill couldn't help but notice that the red heads smile never reflected in her green eyes
"The names Natasha Romanoff and I'm saving you" Natasha placed Jill's arm around her shoulder so that the injured S.T.A.R.S officer could lean on her for support,
Jill had to admit the woman was a lot stronger than she looked
"Come on- let's get you some place safe" she painfully raised Jill to her feet, the two women quickly fled the scene although Natasha quickly looked back at the burning body of the B.O.W in the street
'And stay down' Natasha Romanoff thought to herself.
