LOCATION: The Sewers under Raccoon City

"Oh my God! What is that smell?" Jill suddenly asked as they had spent the last ten minuets crawling through dark vents, their purser hopefully far behind them now.

"Well I'm no expert, but I believe that this vent opens up into the sewers"

They jumped out at the next opening dropping down into the miles of dark dank tunnels that snaked underneath the city-

"Of course it's the sewers, why not? Its already been a crap day" Jill stated as they sealed one of the heavy doors behind them as if one more obstacle between them and the creature meant that they were safe,

Natasha and Jill twisted the valve until it would turn no more.

They both took a deep breath of the stale air whilst Black Widow tried to reach Carlos on her communicator-

"Carlos are your there?" *static* "Carlos?" more *static*

"Shit, we're too far from the Substation" she sighed in annoyance,

If she'd been alone it wouldn't have been an issue, but now she needed to get Jill back to catch the train in time,

"You shouldn't have come with, you're the one that needs to get on that train, I'm more than capable of dealing with giant monsters" Natasha insisted as Jill rolled her eyes,

When the Black Widow didn't have to worry about the safety of someone else she was at her best.

However, she couldn't bring herself to be too mad at Jill for risking her life, mainly because if the situation was reversed she would have done the same.

"It's me he's after" Jill insisted and she was right-

As hard as Black Widow could try and divert the monsters attention, the B.O.W would still only be insistent on finding its primary target-

"Yeah, but there's one more thing that worries me" Natasha said as they made their way further into the sewer-

"What's that?" Jill asked,

"The whole 'you want S.T.A.R.S, I'll give you S.T.A.R.S' line was really fucking lame" Natasha smirked as Jill shook her head, she had regretted the line the moment she said it

"You know, I would have said, You want S.T.A.R.S? I'll make you see stars" Jill took a sharp intake of breath 'Damn that was better'

Jill couldn't believe they were having this conversation-

"Whatever, let's just get out of here" Jill was beginning to question what she had originally thought about the Avenger that she had originally considered to be hard and solely concerned with her mission, apparently did also have a strange sense of humour.

"Huh locked" Jill mumbles as they finally come across the exit door,

Natasha pulls off the note stuck to the door, according to maintenance too many unauthorised individuals had found their way down to the sewers therefore the doors of high importance were now kept sealed and only accessible by a specifically made battery pack

"Raccoon City engineers really like to make things difficult don't they?" Natasha asked,

Jill considered telling her that if she thought this was weird then she should pay a visit to the RPD.

"Where's the battery pack for the door, does it say?" Jill craned her neck to look at the letter over the smaller women's shoulder-

"Yeah, in a lab located in the sewer?" she had to reread that part of the note then turned to Jill,

"What do you know about underground labs" Jill knew more about the city than she did.

Jill reread the note with great interest-

"It's no secret that Umbrella practically owns this city; I've found numerous articles online that spoke of heavy construction in areas of the city that could be easily hidden from public view"

The question was, why would a pharmaceutical company need a laboratory in the depths of the sewers?

A loud screeching roar emitted from further in the sewer-

"What the hell was that?" Jill exclaimed as the noise echoed into nothingness,

"Well the streets of Raccoon City were fun, willing to bet that the sewers are fucking Disneyland"

Black Widow climbs over the metal railing where she slides down into the knee high sewer water,

"Eww" she grimaces although this wouldn't be her first time adventuring into a sewer it saddened the Avenger to see that her uniform was ruined,

Jill followed Black Widow into the sewer duct "oh god! I'm definitely burning these clothes" Jill insisted when all of a sudden a rustling sound caused the both of them to reach for a fire arm.

"Something's moving around" Natasha whispered as she slowed her breathing which was difficult to do when you were stuck underground and the air was sticky and decayed.

They walk deeper in they were both ready to fire at anything that moved,

All of a sudden, a large fleshy creature slithered out of one of the pipes, its mouth gapped open wide, wide enough to swallow both of them whole.

The both of them set about unloading bullets into the angry creature, the monster's jaws opened wide as it lunged at the intruders in its domain,

Jill and Natasha quickly back up away from the creature which didn't seem that bothered by their bullets.

Natasha reached for one of her grenades and waited until it opened its mouth again, wide enough to see every tooth in the monsters jaw

"Fire in the hole!" she announced as she tossed the explosive which detonated under the monster's body causing it to convulse at the sudden explosion.

"What the fuck was that?" Jill asked as they edged past the B.O.W's corpse.

Natasha wondered how the creature had made its way into the sewer.

They climb up a nearby ladder out of the sewer water and into a storage room, a piece of documentation they find lying around referred to the sewer creatures as 'Hunter Gamma's' an outcome from an attempt to infuse the T-Virus into frogs.

Natasha wondered what Umbrella genius thought T-Virus Frogs was a good idea-

"On better news apparently our froggy friends are very weak to fire" a typical weakness for a coldblooded reptile and a huge oversight by the scientists that developed them,

"Oh would you look at what I've found" Natasha exclaimed as she found a grenade launcher 'likely a countermeasure just in case the B.O.W's got a little too out of control' she handed the launcher to Jill along with some flare rounds,

"Thanks" Jill said as she took the bulky weapon,

The next Hunter Gamma that crossed her path were so screwed.

They pushed on forward back into the knee high sewer water and its not long until Jill gets the opportunity to use the grenade launcher,

Mimicking what Natasha had done earlier, she waited for the creature to open wide before she shot.

The flame round exploded in a large burst of fire, the creature screeched as it quickly died from exposure to its unfortunate weakness,

"Nicely done" Natasha smirked, they kept on following the sewer tunnels for a while before Jill wanted to ask Natasha something that had been on her mind,

"Natasha, I was wondering if I could get your opinion on something" Black Widow turned to look at Jill behind her

"Why do you think that creature keeps coming after me? I mean you've seen plenty of other T-Virus creatures, but none of them are like that thing"

It was a question that Natasha had pondered herself since the moment she saw it and she had a theory.

"Jill what do you know about modern warfare?" Jill shrugs

"I've played the game a few times with Chris" although she knew it wasn't exactly what the Black Widow was asking

"Soldiers and guns on the frontlines are quickly becoming a thing of the past- every militia organisation in the world are throwing their funding at the development of bio-weapons, biological warfare whilst not a new concept is a very brutal, but cowardly form of combat and it doesn't discriminate the fighters from the innocent civilians"

Jill had done her own research on Umbrella and a possible connection to the US Military, it made her feel uneasy at the thought of Umbrella's virus becoming a legitimate thing to be used in war, it was a disgrace.

"Umbrella's ultimate goal had always been to produce a Bio-weapon of high destructive capabilities that can be controlled, clearly they failed in their first attempt" Jill remembered her encounter with the original Tyrant all too well, Natasha nodded her head

"Give that destructive force intelligence and the ability to learn and adapt, now give it a singular objective for it to complete no matter what the cost"

Jill felt slightly sick as to what Black Widow was trying to say dawned on her

"So... this new bio-weapons field test is... Killing every member of S.T.A.R.S?" Natasha nodded her head-

"I'm sorry, but your experiences at the Spencer mansion and the subsequent whistle blow on Umbrella put you and the others on Umbrella's 'shit list' in a hard way" Jill dryly swallowed her mouth felt drier than a desert

"Can it be destroyed?" she asked Black Widow as they climbed up another ladder out of the dank water and onto the walkway above-

"Everything can be destroyed Jill" Black Widow simply stated it was a lesson she had lived by when she was an assassin.

Jill however, wished that she shared in the Black Widows confidence.

One of the doors on the walkway led into a room that screamed evil scientist lab,

"Hmm must have been a 'shit' commute to work for these Umbrella scientists" Natasha gave Jill a silent stare as if waiting for a reaction to her clever word play,

"Oh I get it because they would have had to commute through the sewers" Jill grinned, Natasha felt disappointed at having her sense of humour being underappreciated,

Clint would have laughed.

"Never mind, let's just get that battery pack and get out of here" the battery pack was like the size of a brick, she gave it to Jill who had some free space to hold on to it

"Let's leave this shit show" Jill grinned, but if Natasha's jokes were going underappreciated then so would Jills.

Exiting the lab they follow the walkway back to the door out, the battery pack now gave them a straight dry route back, neither of them exactly wanted to go treading about in knee high sewer water, ever again.

Suddenly a Hunter Gamma jumped out at them its mouth opened wide in an attempt to devour them.

The creature made Jill jump causing her to fire several flame rounds before Natasha could even think

"Phew, piece of shit actually scared me" Jill let out a loud breath she wondered if the scare had affected the Black Widow the same, if so the red heads expression showed no signs of fear.

They quickly make it back to the locked exit both of them were eager to leave the sewers, Jill placed the battery pack into the slot next to the door unlocking it with a satisfying click, the door opened upon a set of stairs that led up,

Natasha wondered if her Stingers might be able to get a signal through now.

"Carlos can you hear us now?" Natasha speaks into her communicator whilst they ascended back up to the street

"Romanoff, Jill, Thank God! Is everything ok?" Carlos sounded relieved at the confirmation that the both of them were still alive

"Yeah, we're alive, we lost him" Natasha informed the soldier on the other end of her transmission

"Great the Subway is ready to go, we'll leave as soon as you both make it back".

Carlos ended his transmission as they eventually reached the end of the stairs where a metal ladder led up to the open storm drain.

Jill climbs up first although she wished that she hadn't when a giant hand grabbed her head yanking her out of the sewer where she is immediately thrown onto the road

"SHIT!" Black Widow exclaimed, the creature attempted to kick her in the face,

Natasha quickly dodged the attack and bolted out of the storm drain and under the form of the attacker before it could try and attack her again, but as the pair looked up, they were greeted by the barrel of an enormous Flamethrower.

Neither needed to state the obvious, they both ran form the creatures fire as fast as their legs would let them.

Jill follows Natasha into a building that was under construction,

The flames of the monster's fire almost singed them both, they quickly grabbed the steel shutter and snapped it shut behind them.

"It can use weapons?" Jill asked, but the Black Widow doesn't reply her mind was to pre-occupied.

Black Widow had assumed that the B.O.W possessed intelligence, but having the mental capacity to sufficiently use a weapon like that was something that even Hulk couldn't manage when Natasha had tried to teach him the concept of aiming- it ended badly.

Natasha shoved her thoughts into the back of her mind as a loud crash on the floor below them alerted her that the creature was getting close, a loud roar almost shook the entire building.

"What the fuck! What the fuck!" Jill yelled as the structure around them began to immolate in hot angry flames

"Just keep moving, don't stop!" Natasha yelled to Jill; they have to climb a ladder to reach the next floor.

Natasha made Jill go up first because as she looked to her left their giant stalker came into view, it sprayed flames towards the Black Widow.

"Come on!" Jill yelled down to her, the flames touched the material of the Black Widows already ruined suit as she climbed the ladder she felt her self start to sweat from how hot it was getting.

She quickly grabbed Jill's hand without hesitation as the Police officers strength helped boost herself up

"Thanks" Natasha said as she coughed, the rising smoke making it harder to breath

"Remind me again why are we running up?" Jill asked as they continued to race through the burning building

"I was following you" Natasha insisted, besides going back down wasn't an option anymore.

Suddenly the creature used its tentacle to pull itself up to the floor they were on,

It sprayed flames over every square inch of the level getting seemingly more and more frustrated at the effort it was taking to kill them.

They took to running across the Scaffolding to avoid the fire, they climbed up another ladder aware that they were getting very high up.

Black Widow swiftly leapt across a gap in the steel walkway, but as Jill did the same the metal structure gave way,

Natasha quickly grabbed her before she could fall down into the inferno

"Thanks" Jill said to the Avenger.

The next floor was just under the roof which they had no other option but to keep climbing up to, they both jumped onto the empty roof,

Natasha had a bad feeling,

They were now trapped with seemingly no way back down to the street.

The creature roared as it broke through from the floor below, it angrily roared at them and sprayed its Flamethrower along the area they knew that they had no choice but to finally fight it.

"Alright let's do this" Jill exclaimed.

Natasha and Jill quickly took off in separate directions the monster seemed to momentarily ponder who it was going to kill first

"Jill!" Natasha yelled over as she retrieved her batons from their place on her back-

"I'll keep him busy, you hit the fuel tank" Luckily the B.O.W didn't seem to have a complex understanding of speech,

Black Widow's batons lit up with bolts of electricity, avoiding and dodging the flow of flames aimed in her direction she strikes out with her weapons-

Her electric shocks held little to no effect, but it did seem to annoy the creature keeping its deadly attention on her as Jill sought the right moment to fire.

Jill had never seen the Widow in hand-to-hand combat she was amazed at how quick the red head moved as if every move she made was part of some sophisticated dance.

Finally, she cites an opening she shot a flame round at the Flamethrowers fuel tank, the monster turned to face Jill as it grew angrier at her attacks from its flank-

"You have fucked with the wrong Avenger!"Natasha yelled attempting to keep its attention sorely on her.

She fastened her two batons together to make one long bow staff and struck the creatures left side.

The creature was definitely affected by the Widows attack as it roared in agony.

Jill found herself surprised by the ferocity and anger of the Black Widows quick attacks, the woman darted and jumped around the creature as if it was all one big game.

However, focusing on what she needed to do was more important right now, she fired several more flame rounds at the fuel tanks attached to the creatures back.

Black Widow quickly flipped backwards as the eruption from the Flamethrowers fuel tank engulfed the monster and surrounding area in flames, but it wasn't finished yet.

It painfully lifted its still on fire body up from the floor and charged at Jill,

"It's still kicking?" she exclaimed as she rolled out of the creature's heavy attack

"Keep up the heat!" Black Widow yelled,

Jill fired some more flame rounds while Natasha fired her stingers creating a myriad of blue- and orange-coloured attacks to engulf the monster.

Their attacks combined with dodging were quickly tiring the B.O.W.

Jill felt like she was holding her breath that no matter what she had to keep firing until the thing was dead.

The creature let out a deafening roar as its body collapsed to the ground looking very dead in the flames that burnt its mutated flesh.

The fire from below had finally reached the roof, they both raced for the edge in hopes that there was another way down, but there was only a very deadly drop.

"Jump!" Black Widow yelled to Jill as she leaped over the metal railing, Jill trusted that Natasha knew what she was doing and did the same.

They slid down the angled outer walls of the building as they tumbled to a straight downward drop.

They painfully landed on a Building Maintenance Unit that hung dangerously on the side of the fully on fire structure,

Natasha carefully attempted to get some footing when one of the cables holding the B.M.U up snapped on Jill's side the S.T.A.R.S officer went tumbling over the side, but kept a tight grip on the B.M.U's metal railing,

Natasha grabbed her hand when the other cable snapped sending both of them falling towards the ground.

They hit the ground below with a painful thud, it knocked the breath out of both of them

"Move!" Natasha still had the breath in her to yell to Jill as the officer rolled her figure out of the way of the heavy B.M.U that fell down after them.

Jill let out a loud breath, she was so fucking tired, every part of her body flared in pain

"Wow- you were nearly a Jill sandwich" Natasha let out an exhausted laugh as Jill glared at her, but Jill finally realised something

"You read the reports from the Spencer Mansion incident" Jill stated as she caught her breath, the grinning Black Widow nodded her head she had read through everything stated in those reports,

"And Barry seriously put that in his reports?" Natasha nodded again and Jill laughed-

"I am never living that down" she gritted her teeth as she mentally forced the pain to subside.

Natasha looked up at the mess behind them, the building that they had just fought the creature on was now its own Forth of July fireworks display, she winced as she raised to her feet holding out her hand to Jill,

"Come on Jill, you've got a train to catch" the S.T.A.R.S. officer grabbed the helping hand and forced herself to stand up.
