Isa decided to be trained in construction at the local trade school. Then she looked into it and it looked like despite the year she found herself in she'd still be able to get an online degree for interior design.

Charlie was surprised but happy that she was sticking around.

"This doesn't happen to have anything to do with your new boyfriend does it?"

"We haven't officially said we are dating yet." Isa was honestly waiting for him to say something about it but he had been so patient. Perhaps he sensed that's what she needed.

Charlie raised an eyebrow, "Will you bring him by for dinner soon?"

"For your interrogation, Dad?"

"I just want to get to know the man that has you smiling around the house all day."

Isa sighed, "I'll text him now."

Taking out her phone she texted Sam, 'Are you available for dinner at my place tonight? My dad would like to get to know you more.' After pausing she texted, 'No pressure though.'

Not even a minute passed before he phone dinged, 'I'd love to. Should I bring anything?'

'No need. Do you like pasta?'

A happy emoji came back and she smiled before texting, 'See you here at 6?'

With a responding ding in the affirmative, Isa went into the living room where her dad was watching the sports channel.

"He's coming at 6. I'm making spaghetti and meatballs."

"And garlic bread?"

"If you want to pick up some French bread from the grocery."

A slight groan came from her father but he got up with the jingle of his car keys and went to get some groceries.

"So are you the reason she's taking a construction trade course?" As soon as they sat down for dinner that was the first question out of Charlie's mouth.

Sam turned toward Isa eyes wide, "You are?"

"I thought it would give me good experience that further studies might not. I'm still going to get my online bachelor's, I just thought this would be a good foundation."

Charlie ate his spaghetti looking in between his daughter and her boyfriend.

"So when will I hear good news?"

Charlie was on a roll that night.

Sam looked shocked for a moment before he looked Charlie in the eye, "I'd prefer to propose only after we've dated and gotten to know each other first."

Isa turned red while Charlie nearly choked on his garlic bread.

"I meant when will you ask my daughter to be your girlfriend officially. You've only been on 3 dates, son."

Sam looked down right bashful and Isa couldn't help but think he looked absolutely adorable.

"Oh right, I thought we already were."

"Sam, will you be my official boyfriend?" Something about him made her feel brave.

"I'd be honored, Isa."
