"So Kouga, where am I going to sleep while I'm here?" Kagome managed to get out around her yawning. The other wolves were slowly filtering out towards the back personal dens.
"Well, I figured you'd stay in my den. It will be the most comfortable for you and should have all the amenities you need. The dens go fairly far into the mountain and there's multiple levels, so it's easy to get lost. I'll give you a map of them until you are able to orient yourself." Kouga stood and started to make his way towards a hallway in the back left of the main cavern.
"Is there any light? I'll need to find a torch if not." Kagome grabbed her pack and followed him.
"You'll see how they're lit soon. We need to have airways to all the levels so during the day there are bits of light but at night we have these.. Well you'll see." Kouga took her pack from her and reached out his hand to her. Taking his hand, she nodded and followed after him.
As Kagome followed Kouga through the winding hallways of the den, she was struck by the ethereal beauty of their surroundings. Glowing rocks embedded in the walls cast a soft, gentle light, illuminating the way with a mesmerizing glow. Lush moss carpeted the floors and crept up the stone walls, adding a touch of natural beauty to the underground corridors.
The air was cool and damp, carrying with it the earthy scent of the caverns. Water dripped softly from stalactites overhead, creating a soothing melody that echoed through the tunnels.
As they continued on their journey, the corridors seemed to twist and turn endlessly, each one leading deeper into the heart of the mountain. But despite the maze-like layout, Kouga navigated with ease, his familiarity with the den evident in the confident stride of his step.
Finally, they arrived at a large, intricately carved door adorned with symbols of the wolf demon tribe. Kouga pushed it open, revealing his private chamber bathed in the soft glow of the illuminated rocks and moss.
Kagome's eyes widened in awe as she stepped into Kouga's private chamber, taking in the tranquil atmosphere that enveloped the room. "Kouga, this is amazing," she exclaimed, her voice filled with genuine admiration. "It's so different from the hay nest you had when we first met."
Inside, the room was spacious yet cozy, with a comfortable futon laid out on the floor and soft cushions scattered around. A small hearth crackled in one corner, its flames casting dancing shadows across the walls. Shelves dug into the stone were lined with scrolls and carvings gave the room a homey feeling.
Kouga chuckled softly, a hint of nostalgia in his voice as he remembered their early encounters. "Yeah, things have changed a bit since then," he admitted, a fond smile playing on his lips. "I've had some time to spruce the place up a bit."
Kagome wandered around the room, her fingers trailing lightly over the smooth stone walls and the delicate tapestries that adorned them. "It's like something out of a fairy tale," she marveled, her eyes sparkling with delight.
Kouga watched her with a mixture of pride and amusement, his heart swelling with affection at the sight of her genuine happiness. "I'm glad you like it, Kagome," he said softly, his voice warm with sincerity. "I wanted to create a space where we could both feel at home."
As they settled in among the cushions and blankets, Kagome couldn't help but feel a sense of peace wash over her. In Kouga's private chamber, surrounded by the soft glow of the illuminated rocks and moss, she felt safe and secure, as if nothing could harm them in this hidden sanctuary deep within the mountain.
Kagome glanced around the room, noticing the single futon laid out on the floor and the scattering of cushions nearby. "Um, Kouga, I don't want to intrude on your space," she began tentatively, her cheeks flushing slightly with embarrassment. "Maybe I should sleep on one of these cushions..."
Kouga shook his head, a warm smile on his lips as he looked at Kagome. "Don't be silly, Kagome," he said gently, reaching out to take her hand. "You're not intruding at all. Besides, there's plenty of room for both of us on the futon."
Kagome's heart skipped a beat at Kouga's words, her cheeks flushing even brighter at the thought of sharing the futon with him. "Are you sure?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper as she met his gaze.
Kouga nodded, his eyes soft with affection as he squeezed Kagome's hand reassuringly. "Positive," he replied, his voice filled with warmth. "I wouldn't have it any other way."
With a shy smile, Kagome allowed Kouga to help her settle onto the futon, their bodies fitting together perfectly as they nestled into the soft bedding. As they lay side by side, the warmth of their bodies mingling in the cool night air, Kagome felt a sense of contentment wash over her. In Kouga's arms, she felt safe and cherished, her worries and fears melting away in the comfort of his embrace.
Phew- I've been gone a bit and had this one sitting in my drafts since the last upload. Have been enjoying writing this, and have realized there really isnt a lot of Kouga/Kagome pairing stories. So, read and review! Let me know what you think of it, what do you think will happen next?
