Chapter 12
Secrets and Training
I own nothing but my time which I don't really have a lot of. Officially starting the second arch. I have decided that Shireen is the only one that I am going to age up, she will be 12 not the 10 she should have been if I was following the books. So yeah another chapter with a part in first person you will understand when you get there, grins evilly, doing best Mr. Burns impression, Excellent. I know I'm going to get hate for that part but honestly I think it's more believable then what happened in the books. Honestly I didn't know how much easier it was to upload on the website. With the issues I have been having with the app recently, I thought I would try with the last chapter so hopefully that will speed somethings up. For those that caught my upload before, sorry I forgot a big chunk of this one that I had on my phone from when I went away this weekend and forgot to add it. My bad.
Ned stark
Ned has his head in his hands after seeing that cursed sword in the hands of his sister's son. A sword that every Stark male on their sixteenth name day would hold and see if it glowed. Ned always suspected that Jon would be the one to make it glow.
"Ned what is that sword?" Cat asks from next to him. On his other side he could see his son and Heir also steering in confusion.
"Aye Ned, what is that? it looks like one of the tales my mother would tell." GreatJon Umber says moving closer to Jon and Arya.
"More importantly, why did you try to stop Arya from giving that sword to your baseborn son?" Galbert Glover asks. Many of the lords of the North nod their heads at this, everyone wanting to know what is going on.
"My Lords, I understand that you all want to know what is going on and what that sword is. However I do believe that I need to talk to my sons and my wife about this, before I share with you all. For now let it rest that it is a Stark relic from the age of heroes." Ned says as he stands. "Come we will talk in my solar."
Ned leaves the room, only hoping that his family follows. He would have to exclude Arya from this conversation as she is too young for this talk. As he reached his solar need talks to the guards at the door.
"No one is to come down this hallway. You are to guard at the end of the hallway, no family, no lords, I don't care if it's the king himself, no one is to come down here until I say so. Is that understood?" The serious look on Ned's face shows the guards just how serious he is.
"Yes milord." both guards say. The looks on his family's faces are pure shock at Ned's words.
"Arya, I'm sorry but you are too young for this conversation. Even your brothers are too young they weren't meant to find out about it until their sixteenth name day." Arya looks mutinous at his words. "On your sixteenth name day I will tell you about it. Just like every Stark female before you has found out then."
Arya nods and leaves the hallway back towards the great hall. Ned opens the door and allows his family inside. He looks around to make sure the guards are doing as told. Once everyone has taken their seats, Ned takes the sword from Jon and places it on his desk before taking his own seat. Ned looks out the window from his seat.
"This is a long, hard and horrible tale. It spans many different generations. This is a tale of two families. Ours and the Targaryens." At those words Cat gasps.
"Does this have to do with why your family has always supported the Targaryens? Your family always did right up until the mad king killed your father and brother." Cat asks in only a small amount of confusion.
"Yes, Cat it does." Ned looks down at his desk. "Now I want no interruptions until I'm finished. This tale is hard enough to tell, please don't make it harder. We will start at the beginning. Most people think house Stark started with Brandon the builder, and in a way it did but our family can be traced back all the way to Garth Greenhand, our penultimate ancestor. It is our tie to Garth Greenhand that gave us the right to rule the north. Garth Greenhand had two sons and two daughters the first born was called Garth Gardener, yes they are different men I know most people and maester say they are the same person but they weren't. Garth Gardener also had four children, three boys and one girl.
"Garth Gardeners second born was Lynahra Wolfsblood, our ancestor, the mother of Brandon the builder, she is also known as Nissa Nissa by those in Essos, her husband and the statue you took that sword from Jon was call Azor Ahai Stark, a dragon rider from Valyria, one of the first dragon riders. Azor had one brother, Aemon Targaryen, the founder of that line." The gasp that went through the room was expected by Ned. This is the hidden history of the Starks. None but Starks by birth knew this information.
"The Valyrias have their own versions of green seers called dragon dreamers. Azor was sent here by those dragon dreamers for various reasons, one of them being that Lynahra was his true love, another was the dragon dreamers saw what the children had done and knew that dragons would be needed to combat the dead. Azor wasn't the only one that came to Westeros, he is the only one that stayed. His dragon's bones are in a secret room in the crypts.
"That sword you hold Jon belonged to Azor. Its name is Light Bringer. It's the sword that brought the dawn during the long night and fought off the Night King. The children of the forest, also known as the Singers of Earth and Water were losing the war against the First Men so they created a weapon, a monster. They captured the third born of Garth Gardener, a man named Garlen Hunter, and turned him into the Night King. In the end the Night King turned on the Singers and started slaughtering them too. Fun fact the fourth born of Garth Gardener was named Gormon Tyrell.
"Now the faith of R'hllor states that to make Light Bringer Azor had to quench the blade in Nessa Nessa's heart's blood, this is untrue. It was quenched in the blood of a dragon and the sap of a weirwood tree. There would have been no force on Planetos that would have made him do that.
"Contrary to popular belief the Night King is not dead, he's off licking his wounds but definitely not dead. The sword Light Bringer will always glow in your hands Jon, and if I'm not mistaken it is rather warm to your touch, but in the presence of the walking dead not only will it glow brighter but will also set itself on fire. During the long night the sword was said to have made the night seem like day, that it will keep the living warm in the blizzards that the Night King will bring.
"Brandon the builder fought side by side with his father during the long night, after Azors dragon died. They were thankful that Azor managed to drive off the Night King before the Night King managed to raise the dragon as a part of the dead army. Azor ended up cutting his dragon to pieces to stop that from happening. Azor and the Night King fought each other many times before they wounded each other grievously. It was this wounding that forced the Night King into full retreat to the lands of Always Winters, where the children made them. It was the retreat that made Brandon build the wall. Azor ordered the forces of the First Men not to follow into what would surely be a trap. The wildlings are not clans that refused to bend the knee and were trapped beyond the wall but clans that chose to be the first line of defence against the Long Night. The Night's Watch was to be the second line that the clans could fall back to.
"There is potentially one clan that is still sworn to the Starks, we have had tales about them, they don't attack the watch and that they don't join the Kings beyond the wall, and they have never raided south of the wall. The Thenns, they were meant to keep the peace between the watch and the clans. We don't know what happened to fracture the peace, all we know is that something did. It may have something to do with Hardhome. As that settlement was destroyed around the same time the fracture happened. What happened to Hardhome no one knows, plenty of theories abound but no actual proof. This story has been passed down through our family since the start. To always over prepare for winter in case of another long night. This is why our words are, Winter is Coming.
"There is a prophecy about that sword, two actually I will tell both at the end of the tale. So we go forward a few thousand years to Theon the hungry wolf. I'm sorry Cat this may be hard for you to hear, the Andal had just started coming across having landed in the Vale and what is now the Crown lands.
"It was clear to everyone in the North that while we could hold the Andals off in the Neck, the rest of Westeros was not so lucky. Yes the Storm lords threw them back. But everywhere else was being put to the sword. Hundreds of thousands if not millions died over the two thousand years we fought them. Then Theon was born and grew to a man, Theon decided that he wanted to know how their steel was forged and if we Frist men could do it better. Leaving his brother in charge of the northern defences he travelled to Andolos.
"While he was in Andolos killing all those who would have tried to come over to Westeros a few dragon riders came across them. The Dragon Lord were also having issues with the Andals, not only had they tried invading Westeros but Valyria too. Two of the seven dragon riders were Maegor Targaryen and his wife Miseara.
"Maegor was the then head of his house so he knew the history of our family's. Theon was having trouble getting the secrets of steel forging from the Andals no matter how many he killed, no matter how many heads he put on pikes, or the hills of body's he left in his wake. So in a show of unity with our ancestors Maegor gave Theon the secret, however the steel was much better than the Andal steel. It's why even now northern steel is better than southern steel. Not as good as Qorohic steel but still good. We the North have never let the south have that secret no matter what they tried to bribe us with.
"During their campaign against the Andals joined by the dragon riders, one of the riders died, due to falling from his dragon during a drunken flight. He wasn't a head of house and his sword wasn't a family sword. Maegor, annoyed by the stupidity of the man, gave everything the Dragon rider had on him to Theon. That is how we got Ice. And a few other things in a hidden room in this solar.
"Now onto a few years after the Targaryans land in Dragonstone. While we did then we now know why they fled, we hold the only full copy of signs and portents by Denys the dreamer. We also know the Targaryen's escaped with more than what they said they did. Fifty seven ships full of Valyrian artefacts and Knowledge. We also know where it's hidden, we will never tell until there is a queen or king of Stark blood in King's landing. The Targaryen's may have forgotten due to Maegor the Cruel sealing it away during construction of the Red Keep but he didn't know of our connection, nor that of his own sister who loved a Stark enough to sell out his secrets.
"Aegon and his sister wives have grown and decided to heed Deneys word and conquer Westeros. Aegon sends a message to King Torrhen Stark, they tell him that they will mostly leave the North alone if he bends the knee, and that they will use their dragons during the long night to help the North.
"Torrhan agreed, his brother Brandon Snow decided he needed to keep a force ready to fight the long night and come to our call. The Company of the Rose has members from every family in the north. Thirty seven thousand people ready for when the long night comes.
"In return for bending the knee Torrhen asked for two things, one that the Targaryen's forget they are kin, distant kin but still kin to the Stark's, Aegon agreed and destroyed all records of this, having books rewritten to exclude Azor Ahai Stark. Since then the Targaryen's have had no idea of our shared past. Thankfully the faith of R'hllor has never known that connection nor Azor's full name. The second was a copy of Denys' book, which Aegon was only too glad to give us and after reading it I know why." Ned stares at Jon. "did you find the eggs?" Jon's face pales at his words. "I will take that as a yes." Ned sighs
"During the dance of dragons, Prince Jacaerys came to gather the North's help, during his time here he fell in love with Cregan's sister Sara Snow, they married in secret, well secret to the south. She was pregnant when he left to go back south, it was the last time he ever saw her. That wasn't the only thing he left behind. Vermax laid a clutch of four eggs, two of which were in the crypt, the other two are in here with us. I don't think the two in the crypt are still there, are they?"
"No, they are in my room." Jon says in a small voice. "Arya says we should hatch them."
Ned can't help but shake his head at his daughter's actions. Ned goes over to his bookshelf, pulling on a book titled the history of Sea Lion Migration on Bear Island. The book case swings open revealing a small room. Ned goes in and grabs two chests one bigger than the other. He opens the smaller of the chests and shows the eggs to his family. One pink with blood red streaks, the other dark blue with silver streaks. Jon puts his hand on one of them.
"It's warm." he says while Ned sighs at the words.
"I will explain that in a moment. Sara died during childbirth and her son survived. Cregan claimed her son as his own bastard to save his life. His third wife Lynara agreed with the idea she didn't want the North to burn like everywhere else was burning.
"We now skip forward to my sixteenth name day, it was just before the tourney at Harrenhal. My father called me back from the Vale under the pretext of going to the tourney with my siblings, that is where my father told me all of this, with Brandon standing next to me while I tried the sword. Now onto the rebellion." Ned sighs, "before any of you get angry at me I knew none of this until I found Lyanna. Lyanna wasn't kidnapped. She ran, she hated Robert, and I don't blame her. He was always a whore monger.
"They married under the hearts tree on the Isle of Faces. Elia Martell agreed to be set aside since she couldn't have more children, so long as her children stayed in line for the throne. She would become the mother queen while Lyanna would be Queen. Lyanna would bear any more children Rhagar wanted but all three of them would share a bed. Elia and Lyanna loved each other as much as they loved Rhagar. The three of them wrote letters back and forth after meeting in Harrenhal.
"All of this is in the diary's Elia, Lyanna, and Rhaegar left in the Tower of Joy. Along with the wedding announcement, and the birth announcement of Aemon Targaryen, signed before Rhagar left for the trident. That's you Jon. That's your story, I was saving this for your sixteenth name day, everything is in the second chest. I claimed you as my son to protect you. I figured if it worked once why wouldn't it work again. If you want the throne Jon, I will fight for you. The whole North will if I have anything to say about it." There are only shocked faces around the room. Then Rob throws up all over the floor. Cat starts crying, Ned wants to comfort her but he also wants to finish his tale.
"No, I don't want it. It's cursed and has only brought bad things for my family." Jon says as he gets up to pace.
"I understand but you may not have the choice if the eggs hatch for you. You are the only one that feels warmth from them. They will start calling to you soon to wake them. Dragons are a lot smarter than the maester's claim."
"I'm so sorry Jon, Aemon, seven hells I don't even know what to call you now. I should never have said that about your mother." with those words Ned can see the anger raise in Jon. Jon takes two steps towards Rob before he punches Rob on the jaw. Rob falls off his chair at the power in the punch.
"If you or that fucking hostage ever say you have fucked my mother again I will take Light Bringer and shove it up both of your asses. And my name is Jon!" Jon says huffing in anger. Jon takes his seat again, his hand reaching for Light Bringer before he stops himself and drops his hand into his lap.
"I deserved that." Rob says before he looks at his father and sees the anger on his face. Rob retakes his seat. Thankful he didn't land in his own vomit. Rob rubs his jaw trying to alleviate some of the pain.
"Rob, we will talk about that later. Jon, are you feeling that attached to Light Bringer? Normally you would have just said your sword." shock crosses Jon's face before he thinks about it for a moment.
"Aye." is all he says. Looking between Ned and Light Bringer.
"Prophecy time then. First is the real one, not the fake one that the faith of R'hllor believes in. The promised prince will be born above a bleeding star, born of fire and ice, born amidst screams and smoke and salt, he will light the sword, wake dragons from stone, when the sword is lit the Night will gather, the prince will kill the night and bring the dawn, save the north.
"Green seers back then determined that we would have a summer that lasts ten years and autumn that will last three years before winter will hit. The long night will come a year after winter starts. They also said the wielder would become attached to Light Bringer.
"I knew this was about you the moment I saw you. I knew you would light the sword, that's why I tried to stop you. We aren't the only family in the north that remembers the long night. We might be the only one that remembers the true history but as the saying goes the North Remembers." Jons face is shocked, so is Rob and Cats even if she is still crying.
"Now for the fake. This is what might lead the Faith of R'hllor to believe it's your aunt Daenerys. Azor Ahai will be reborn under a bleeding star, the night your aunt was born there was a comet in the sky, born amidst salt and smoke, she was born on Dragonstone, the promised prince will wake dragons from stone, the prince will bring the dawn and save the world. In high Valyrian prince means both genders, it could also mean prince and princess. Why they always forget his last name is beyond me. But we are thankful for it."
"We will be having words soon Ned." Cat says before she leaves the room.
"You two stay here, I will go tell the lords part of the truth. Go through the chest there's something in there that is your birthright Jon. I also left the book that contains all that we have talked about in that chest. I will also send someone to clean up the vomit.'' Ned says as he's getting up to leave. As Ned opens the door to leave he sees Old Nan standing at the door. "Old Nan, how did you get here?"
"I have lived in Winterfell longer than you have been alive. Go talk to the lords, I have little princes to talk to." she says as she shoos Ned and enters the solar.
Shireen
Ser Bonifer is a hard task master. The hours on horseback is not something that Shireen is used to. While she has had riding lessons none of them lasted longer than an hour at a time. Shireen is at least thankful that Ser Davos forced her father to give her lessons in riding. Both her parents hadn't wanted her to have lessons, Shireen isn't sure if it was out of trying to keep her grayscale scars hidden or just keeping people away from her but it has caused many issues to form.
One of the issues that formed was that she has had very little contact with the outside world, because of her isolation she came to believe in the best of humanity as kindness is the only thing she has been exposed to. Maester Cressen, her main teacher along with novice Pate were always kind to her, her other main contact is Ser Davos even her own parents didn't see her often.
These are some of the things that Ser Bonifer has taken to teaching her. While Shireen has a good grasp on politics, she doesn't know how to play the game as it is called. Ser Bonifer also understands more about the cruelty of the world. So on their trip to Highgarden he took it upon himself to expose her to the small folk to make her see just how cruel they can be.
Dark magic Ser Bonifer said. Dark evil magic. If they can mind control someone then they can definitely do worse than that as mind control is the hardest form of magic according to both Ser's Bonifer and Davos.
Ser Davos privately told her that he has the eggs her father had been given by those red witches. She would swear by every god that she heard them whispering to her. She couldn't quite make out the words but either it was the dragon eggs or it was the red witches trying to get their claws into her.
It took just over a month to get from King's Landing to Highgarden. With the many villages and towns in between them it was enough for Shireen to become more jaded to the ways of man. That didnt mean she has to become as cruel as them or to lose her own sense of self. Shireen made a promise to herself that she wouldn't become like them, that she would stay kind. Thinking that, that is what the kingdoms would need it after they manage to get rid of the red witches. At the very least the capital would need it. A kind and strong Princess, then Queen, once her father dies.
Before entering the walls of Highgarden Ser Bonifer stopped her.
"Princess, you must be on guard here. The Tyrells will want something from you for their help. They are opportunistic and will use this to their benefit. Most likely they will want you to marry one of the Tyrell boys. If they end up giving you a choice, choose Ser Garlen, he is the second born and a military man. He has been routing bandits in the Reach for the last five years.
"If they don't give you a choice, force them too. If they try to marry you to Willas, tell them that the Heir to the Reach is not a suitable Prince Consort future King Consort. If they try forcing Loras on you, remind them that you are a Baratheon, that you know what goes on in the walls of Storms End. Your uncle was not as subtle as most think. It was an open secret that Loras was his paramour.
"It is however important that we gain the help of the Reach, they have the largest army. If need be, tell Olenna that we will go to your cousin in the Stormlands for help and that at least there you won't be forced to marry." Shrieen looks at Ser Bonifer with inquiring eyes.
"Ser Bonifer, why would I be meeting with Dowager Lady Olenna and not Lord Mace?" the curiosity in her eyes plain to see
"Olenna is the crafty one. Mace from everything I have heard is a bit of a dunce. Olenna wont let him hold the negotiations alone. She will want a king from her family. They had been trying to replace Cersei with Margaery, if not that than betrothing Joffrey to their golden rose."
Shireen nods at his words, understanding that even family can be cruel, especially now that Ser Davos told her what the red witches had planned for her. Shireen believes that her father should have been able to fight off the influence.
"Very well I believe we should continue. I will take your advice under advisement." Shireen says as she nudges her horse forward to the walls.
Once they have been given guest rights of bread and salt, Shireen retires to the guest rooms given to her. The maids appointed to her help her to bathe, touching her as little as they can. This saddens Shireen, she knows there is no way to catch greyscale off her as it has gone dormant. She powers through this and ignores the looks she receives from the maids.
Having gone to sleep that night safe in the Knowledge that she has members of the Holy on guard, what she wasn't expecting is the dreams to come back.
A Wolf Dragon hatching baby Dragons.
A Crowned Stag being held down by a fiery heart.
A Withered Rose crowned by thorns talking to a man with no face.
A Crowned Doe hatching baby dragons.
A Golden Rose holding a Crowned Doe that changes into a Crowned Dragon.
A Golden Rose pushed from a wall of ice by a man of ice.
Wake us!
Feed us!
Free us!
Waking in a sweat Shireen yells for Ser Davos. The man comes running and so does Ser Bonifer. Not know where the voices are coming from scares Shireen.
"Ser Davos the dreams are back." she says panting and gasping.
"Dragons aren't coming to burn you Princess." at his words Ser Bonifer gasps.
"Not those ones other one different ones."
"Princess tell me true, do your dreams have the sigils of the other families and them doing things?" Ser Bonifer. Ser Bonifer has a very serious look on his face.
"Yes Ser but what does that have to do with anything?" Shireen says with a confused look on her face.
"Are you hearing voices that you can explain and have no idea where they are coming from? Not before now but since last night."
"Yes Ser. Please explain, you obviously know what's happening." Ser Bonifer takes a deep breath at her words.
"I once loved a Dragon Princess even now I can't bear to say her name. She told me many things. Including about Denys the Dreamer who had Dragon Dreams. Dreams of the future through the house sigils, while not a hundred percent reliable they are still reliable.
"I have a confession to make. I placed the Dragon eggs in your room, last night while you were asleep, this may have influenced your Dragon Dreams. Dragons are smarter than maester's claim. My Princess told me about her egg and how it talked to her. The eggs need your blood, they need fire and they need a sacrifice of life to be born, without another dragon around to help.
"This is where Aegon the Unlikely went wrong, he tried wildfire instead of normal fire. Wouldn't let his family feed them the blood that was needed, and he didn't have a sacrifice. I think those red devils will make for a good sacrifice." Bonifer says with a smile. Shireen smiles back at him.
"Will you help me, Bon?"
"Of course Princess."
It takes two days before the meeting with Lady Olenna and Lord Mace takes place. Shireen is walked into the gardens by Margaery Tyrell. They are having lunch under the three singers, the heart trees of Highgarden. The gods wood of Highgarden is a beautiful place, more beautiful than anything in the Red Keep Shireen thinks.
Lady Olenna has a plate of soft cheeses and fruits while Lord Mace has a larger spread set out for the two of them. The conversation over the meal was light and filled with pleasant topics. Once most of the meal is consumed, mostly by Lord Mace the conversation turns towards more serious topics.
"Your Highness, I have heard from both of your knights that you are looking to use the Reaches army to rest control of the Crownlands from the faith of R'hllor." Lord Mace says.
"Yes, My Lord. Those red witches are using dark magic to control my father. If the Reach, the cradle of the Faith of the Seven wont help me, I will turn to my cousin Lord Durranden, Lord Paramount of the Stormlands." The look of shock on Lady Olenna's face made Shireen do a happy dance inside. Shireen hopes that this will head off any arduous requests. Jumping straight to using her cousin was her own idea.
"There's no need to trouble your cousin Princess." Lady Olenna says while sending an unobtrusive gesture to one of her twin guards. The man walks forward and bends down whispering something into Lord Mace's ear.
"Your Highness, please forgive me, but I must see to a most important issue."
"Of course, my Lord, you are of course a busy lord." Shireen says as demurely as she can. She knows this is just Lady Olenna trying to get rid of him. Once Lord Mace left Shireen cut off Lady Olenna before she could start talking or demanding.
"Well now that you have gotten rid of your son, you must have something you want from me. To give me your help you want what?" The shrewd look on Lady Olenna's face makes Shireen know that she is right.
"You are smarter than your reputation would say Princess." Lady Olenna says with a slight smirk. It is obvious that Lady Olenna is trying to either anger her or test her.
"How could I have a reputation when I have been cloistered away by my parents, Lady Olenna. Or when I was practically imprisoned in my own home by the faith of R'hllor. If it wasn't for Ser Davos I would never have been allowed to leave the Red Keep" the demure look never left her face. Not once did she raise her voice.
Being pleasant and polite would be her armour. During the trip her patience had been tested repeatedly and now she knew why Ser Bonifer did that. For this meeting, to make sure that Olenna couldn't get under her skin.
"How indeed. Very well I shall cut to the chase as they say. I want you to marry my sweet Loras for our support."
"No, do you take me for a fool, Lady Olenna? I know of my uncle Renly's reputation as well as who his paramour was.'' The look of shock that crosses Lady Olenna's face makes Shireen even more happy. Ser Bonifer had been right.
"Very well, I can understand that no. How about My Willas, he's a good boy and will make a good king."
"Let's get one thing straight now Lady Olenna, I will be Queen. The man I marry will be King Consort not King, he will not sit the Iron Throne. Also I will not be taking any first sons to be my King Consort." Shireen says with a small sweet smile on her face.
"Oh very well then, you obviously came here knowing what my price was and already chose which out of my grandsons who you would take as King Consort. So Garlen then." Olenna says before taking a sip from her drink. "It's been a while since I was out played, especially by one so young. At the very least will the Tyrell name become the Royal name?"
"No, if Garlen wants to be my consort he will take the Baratheon name. As will our children. I think it is time that Westeros had a strong queen, over the weak kings we have been plagued with." Shireen says having some of her own apple juice, not having wanted wine.
"Garlen will do as I tell him. And does this strong Queen know how to hatch those dragon eggs?" Shireens smile only grew wider.
"Are we in agreement over Garlen being my prince consort until my father's death? In exchange the Reach will support me in kicking out the faith of R'hllor."
"yes, yes you will have your prince consort and your army so long as Garlen leads it." Olenna says in agreement with the young Princess. Olenna wanted Garlen to gain a reputation for being a leader even if he wouldn't sit the throne, he could still advise the queen. Her blood would eventually sit the throne, it wasn't as if her name originally was Tyrell either.
"He may lead so long as his advisors are Ser Bonifer and Lord Tarly." Shireen says wanting the best tactical leaders to keep her soon to be husband alive.
"Agreed." Olenna says, knowing they are good choices.
Stannis
Clouds are green right now, in the shape of a stag sitting on eggs. it's harder to fight without the dragon eggs.
Black waves in my bed. Why is it never my wife? Cant have a son if my wife isn't here.
"Stannis, that smuggler has taken the dragon eggs and your daughter. Where would they go?" the red clouds ask. Why is it always red? Good they got away.
"North or Dragonstone, or Storm's End." That's as close to lying as I can get to. I hope they can keep her safe.
"We will have King's blood one way or another, Stannis." the Red cloud screams at me.
Black clouds this time how strange. Never had black clouds before could my controllers be angry, good.
Red fire in my bed. Do they ever let me sleep alone? Are they just using me for King's blood? What's so important about my blood? What in the seven hells is King's blood.
"Sign this we are burning that sept." I can't stop, I must sign. Just a meat puppet for those pulling my strings.
Grey fog. No shapes this time. Good they are distracting. Need to focus on fighting back the clouds.
A great boom rings out. The clouds recede for a short time. I cry for what has become of me. How did my life end up like this, just a puppet for power hungry zealots. Red enters the throne room. Clouds descend again. How do I fight magic, without having magic?
White clouds in the shape of roses and stags.
"Sign this once I have enough troops we will burn the gods eye, the isle of faces we will burn their gods and take their powers for our own." Seven preserve us, the Northerners will rebel against the crown, they will want independence.
"No, there's an ancient pact to protect the gods' eyes." Even as I say this I grab the quill and sign.
"You have no power, no will that bests ours." the red fire says laughing at me.
Red clouds laughing at me.
"Stannis the Reach is rebelling, we need unsullied. Sign this. The faith of the lord of light will pay for it, like we paid off all the debt to the Iron Bank." red clouds are speaking about bringing slaves here. no not slaves, why can't I stop myself.
Who is this? I should know this person.
"My love the Lord of Light needs a sacrifice to win the war. Without our daughter it will be me. I'm sorry Stannis, I should never have let them into Dragonstone."
My wife. You stupid women.
Grey clouds look like dragons and wolves.
"I wanted your head clear for this so you can understand. I'm bringing the high priest from Volantis here with the rest of the fiery hand. Your daughter will burn for the dragons to be born." the red fire in my bed tells me. Why is it only red fire in my bed now? Where did the black waves go?
Red angry clouds.
The cloudy sigil of the fiery hand being torn apart by wolves, roses, and stags. Maybe my dreams are they the future, maybe the past. Hopefully the North and Reach will come to protect my daughter.
"Sign this, when the Reach has been crushed by all the troops coming here we will burn the Starry Sept." I sign knowing I can't fight this witch.
Now I understand why Varys hated magic. Red witches indeed.
I should have killed them when I had the chance. Now I'm nothing more than a slave to these witches.
Black stag clouds and grey dragon wolf clouds. Why is there a dragon with wolves? All the dragons are dead.
Drogon
Mother is gone. But my brothers are still here so that's something. So is the person's mother called the Bear Knight. Mother just couldn't handle the red sand place. It was nice and hot there but no food. Only the four leggers that carried mothers two legs before they all went to sleep and never woke up.
They tasted nice, but then mothers two legs started going to sleep as well. They didn't wake up either, but mother wouldn't let us eat them. Mother went to sleep and never woke up as well. She had the Bear two legs take the three of us and her back to the green place with lots of food, but she went to sleep on the way there and didn't wake up no matter how much we roared at her.
The Bear two legs took off all his shiny silver while we were leaving the red sand. Mother told him to take us to the mountains of the shiny gold bird like two legs. Not in those words but when we are flying we can see the bird two legs on the tall things. It looks like a good place to fly too, but the Bear two legs says not to go there until we are bigger than the caves we each stay in. We feel something pulling us over the can't drink water. Bear two legs tells us to stay that we aren't big enough yet. We found we could talk to him in his head like we can to each other.
Bear man has been teaching us more words. Better words to express ourselves. We like Bear man, he keeps our bellies full and lets us fly as much as we want. Bear man even made a train against a shiny long pole, no bear man called it spare. Bear man says the bird Ladies have weapons that throw the spears in the air to hurt us or even make us sleep forever. Bear man has a name too, Mormont stupid name, he is our Bear man.
Bronze brother has been trying to convince Bear man that his name is Bear man. Eventually we will get him to accept his new name. Green brother likes Bear man's old name but he won't call him that when talking to Bear man, only when he is talking to us. Green brother can be not smart, Bear man says the word for it is stupid but that sounds bad so Green brother is just not smart.
Bear man has started us on new flying training. Have to do the course faster than it takes Bear man to count to two hundred. Numbers confuse us but we know it is meant to be time, but what does a dragon care about time or numbers? Bear man says we need to learn numbers so we can tell how many two legs are against us. He says mother would want us protected. We love our mother, we only like Bear man, but mother helped us break out of shells, so if this is what mother would have wanted we will agree.
We told Bear man about the pull to fly over don't drink that water. Bear man says to wait until we are bigger and can protect ourselves from slavers. We asked what slavers are. Bear man said they are two legs that put us in chains and make us do things we don't want to do. Bear man said they come from bird lady city. Bear man always laughs when he says bird lady city. Laughing is good, means Bear man isn't sad about mother sleeping. We asked if Bear man was father once he laughed and said only if we wanted him to be otherwise he was just our Bear man.
It's been two full bright circle things in the dark sky, moon I think Bear man called it, since our Bear man went to sleep. We burnt him like he asked. We didn't eat him, because he was nice to us, he was almost father to us, he was ours and they took him from us. We did eat the two leg men that put holes in our bear man. We are getting big enough to leave. Soon we will go burn what our Bear man called Astapor, a city, the bird lady city. That's where the two legs who poked holes in our Bear man came from. We saw them leaving the city and coming into our mountains. We didn't know they were coming after our Bear man or we would have come back to our caves.
Green brother wants to go now and burn them, teach them not to touch what is ours. Bronze brother just wants to sit by Bear man's ashes. I the bigger brother will make my brothers train again. We will make our Bear man proud. Will be the biggest, strongest, and toughest dragons ever, all thanks to our Bear man and his training. We will watch for flying spares, we will burn the slavers. They will regret taking what is ours. We still feel the pull to fly over the bad water we can't drink, once we are done with bird lady city we will follow the pull.
We are finally bigger than our caves, pity we won't get all the two leg slavers that looked like those that put holes in our bear man. We will burn their city before we follow the pull across the water we still can't drink. I'm the biggest, Bronze brother has the hardest scales, Green brother has the hottest fire. Our mother named us but we were too young to remember and our bear man never called us by name only colour. We don't know any actual names to name ourselves so we go by colour. Maybe if we find someone we like we will let them name us. Maybe.
My brothers roar at me letting me know that it is time. I agree. Time to get our revenge for our Bear man. Walk out of our caves, all of us look back once at the place our Bear man raised us and Roar to the sky's our pain and anguish over losing our Bear man. Turning towards the Bird Lady city. Taking to the sky we fly over to the big Bird Lady on the Pyramid, my Bronze brother takes the small Pyramids while my Green brother breathes his fire over the walls around the city. I take the big pyramid with the big Bird Lady on it. Melting the bird lady made me feel better. Flying over the city with my two brothers letting our fire touch everything in it. Nothing is moving after we are done.
Flying over the don't drink water after burning the bad city wasn't fun but we could do it, just. The place we felt the pull to didn't have any people but it did have fire mountains. We don't have to eat this close to the fire mountains. We don't need to drink ether. Something about the fire mountain is feeding us. It feels really good. We are growing faster too.
The place with the pull has burnt cities too. Other dragons must have burnt them because the cities stole from them. Must have stolen their mothers for all the cities to be burnt. The air tastes funny but whatever it is that is feeding us makes it worth it to stay here.
There was one problem that we had to take care of when we got here. There was a big black dragon with green eyes when we got here. He tried to eat us, but he was old and we are young, and there's three of us. He was having issues actually getting into the air. We bit at his wings.
Our Bear man said that the wings on a dragon are our weak spot, so we had to remember to protect ours. Take out the wing and the dragon can't get into the air. The big Black screamed at us, as we attacked his wings, biting and burning. No words though just screaming. We felt hunger and anger from the big black but with his wing damaged all we had to do was take turns at biting his body, that was another thing our Bear man taught us.
If there was anything bigger than us that we wanted to attack, we needed to take turns biting until the bigger thing was dead. He bled alot his blood was black like mine but not like my brothers whose blood matches their scales. In the end he went to sleep too, to make sure he didn't wake up again we ate him. He wasn't tasty. We decided we wouldn't do that again if we found more dragons. If they attack us we will just make them sleep forever.
Then a brown dragon came out of a cave too small for the large black one to go into. Maybe he is father, or can be father.
And so ends Cannibal and hello to Sheepstealer. If I get hate for the Drogon part of the chapter oh well, if you don't like it go write your own. I did say I didn't like Daenarys. She started off really good then ended just like her father. I understand grief, been there done that I've lost people really close to me doesn't mean I'm going to burn the world. Hell if I had a dragon I would spend all my time flying, not gathering an army. About the three dragons killing an entire city yeah I feel bad but the dragons are only just over a year old and growing fast due to Mormonts training, while Mormont tried to teach them right from wrong he only had maybe five months with them. They are essentially wild dragons with no restraints. Think wild Drogon in the books just smarter.
Wrysenseofhumor I only just saw your comments today the 10/03 for some reason they didn't show up on my phone. I hope the last chapters show that I am bringing in Jon, and that he is important to my story, he just wasn't important in the first arc.
