Diana Prince was by far the most accomplished girl in Metropolis High. She was made captain of the school's gymnastics team. She scored higher on her AP Calculus test than anyone else. Her natural charm inspired many students to help her decorate for the upcoming dance. She was without a doubt the most admired girl in the school.

And Barbi Minerva hated her for it.

Before Diana transferred, Barbi was the most accomplished girl. This rich girl was captain of the gymnastics team, she was the smartest girl in class, and she hosted pool parties for her fellow students. But when the amazon princess came along, she overshadowed Barbi in all of that taking away everything that she thought was rightfully hers.

Barbi had enough. With nothing but anger and jealousy filling her head, she marched over to her father's private relics collection. She wanted Diana to suffer in the worst way possible, so she turned to an ancient cheetah totem which was foretold to hold a very dangerous curse. She held the totem in her hand and recited its activation phrase.

"Woe to she in Cheetah's path

For she shall feel the Cheetah's wrath

By claw and fang, and with spite and hate

Swift as wind, she'll seal your fate"

At first, nothing happened. Barbi thought it didn't work. But what she didn't know is that it worked much more than she had intended.

The following day, Diana was met up by all her friends at the front of the school. "It is with great excitement I anticipate sharing what the decorating committee has done."

"And it is with great excitement," Babs added, "That I anticipate the dance!"

"But I don't know how to dance." Karen said.

"Fear not, young Karen," Diana assured, "For I possess dance moves that are rich with fleek. You're welcome to study them."

"Yeah. Sounds like a blast." Gwen said, though her tone wasn't exactly exciting. Kara noticed.

"Hey, is something up, Gwen? You seem a little down."

"It's fine." Gwen said. "I just… haven't been to a dance since…" She frowned.

"Oh." Jessica said with sympathy. "Right. Peter."

"You know, you don't have to go if you don't want to." Zee said.

"No, no. It's all right." Gwen said forcing her frown upside down. "I don't want to miss hanging out with you at the dance. Plus, I really want to see how the rest of you can tear it up on Friday night."

The seven girls entered the front door, but as soon as they entered the school, they gasped when they saw torn shreds of banners and posters scattered across the floor.

"Looks like someone already 'tore it up'." Kara laughed.

"That isn't funny, Kara." Jessica said.

"Instead of cutting the rug, they cut the posters." Kara laughed again.

"No. I mean it's literally not funny."

"Maybe the dance shouldn't have booked a band that shreds so hard!"

"Kara!"

"What happened?" Gwen asked.

"I don't know." Diana said. "I'll have a word with the decorating committee later." She walked out of the room to the lockers. While she did that, everyone else was cleaning up the mess made across the school.

"Guys," Kara said, "We better hurry before people think they've 'slashed' up the ticket prices!"

"Kara!" Jessica groaned.

"Guys, I don't know about you, but I have a very bad feeling about this." Gwen said.

"Is it your Spider Sense?" Karen asked.

"No. It's more like… déjà vu."

Suddenly, Diana's scream echoed from the other room. The girls dropped what they were doing and ran as quickly as they could into the locker room. Jessica gasped when she was the first to find Diana on the ground with her hair and clothes covered in claw marks.

"Diana! What happened? Who did this to you?"

Diana got back up to her feet with her hand covering the side of her head. "I don't know. Something knocked into me. It came from nowhere."

Babs gave out a loud gasp. "Don't you see? Clearly, someone is suffering from having their status quo upended by Diana's arrival in Metropolis, and their crippling insecurity most like cause by absentee parenting, and a lack of proper modeling in childhood, has unleashed a horrible ancient curse that has manifested itself in the form of some weird cat beast that's now stalking the perceived enemy which is Diana!" A moment of silence filled the room when everyone stared confusingly. "There's a monster on the loose!"

"What?" Gwen gasped feeling weak in her legs. She felt out of balance, which she stopped by placing her hand inside an open locker for support. She was almost out of breath. "No, no, no. Not again!"

"It's all right, Gwen." Jessica comforted her. "If this monster is after Diana, we have to get her somewhere safe."

"It ain't Diana that needs protecting." Kara said.

"Whatever it is could be perilous to everyone here." Diana said. "We must find a way to evacuate our fellow students without causing them distress."

Kara just took the simplest solution when she shot her Kryptonian elbow into the fire alarm. The ringing noise filled the entire school and all the other students screamed when they raced out of the school.

"What happened to 'no distress'?" Jessica asked.

"Worked, didn't it?" Kara asked.

"One thing's for sure," Gwen said assuredly, "I am not letting another monster ruin everything."

"Then come, girls." Diana said. "Let the hunt begin. We have much territory to cover. Let us split ourselves."

"I think you mean split up." Kara said.

"Yes, that." Diana said. "Gwen, I know this might be personal for you, so you're with me."

Gwen took a deep breath. "All right. Thanks."

Right after changing into their super hero costumes, all the lights in the school went out. That plus the dark storm outside made nearly everything covered in shadow. All the other girls looked in different areas seeking the beast. Green Lantern checked the library, Batgirl searched the main lobby with her Batcomputer, Zatanna nervously scanned the cafeteria, Supergirl checked the principal's office, and Bumblebee hid in the gym. But each time, the beast found them and got the best of them.

It wasn't until after Bumblebee got jumped on when Wonder Woman and Ghost-Spider found the beast themselves.

"Get away from you, you beast!" Wonder Woman warned just as the creature stepped out of the shadows. This female predator stood on its hind legs and turned to face the two girls. They were caught off-guard seeing the cheetah fur surrounding the monster's body. It released Bumblebee from her mouth only to roar out at the others.

"Whoa. Looks like someone's taking their cat gimmick way too seriously." Ghost-Spider said. "Good thing that didn't happen with Black Cat."

"Who's Black Cat?" Wonder Woman asked.

"Long story. Let's just beat this Cheetah."

Cheetah pounced over to Wonder Woman swinging its claws at her. Thankfully, she used her bracelets to guard against them. Though Cheetah was fast, she was taken off-guard when Ghost-Spider shot a webline at her arm holding her in place.

"Bad kitty!"

With Cheetah off-balance, Wonder Woman took her chance and swung a punch at her. Cheetah was sent flying in the air, but she recovered. She clawed the webline off of her and landed on her feet before going after Ghost Spider.

The webslinger leaped up and swung on the hanging ropes. She landed far from Cheetah and shot two weblines at her direction. They missed each passing by the creature.

"I wasn't aiming for you, litter-brain." Ghost Spider said before thrusting her arms and the web back. Cheetah looked behind just before she noticed the gymnastics balancing beams being thrown at her. She leaped up just in time and bounced back from the ceiling. She was about to attack Ghost Spider when the webslinger held up a balancing beam and used it to keep Cheetah from mauling her. She was pressed to the floor and Cheetah was persistent, but the beam kept her just out of claws reach.

Wonder Woman came to the rescue just in time by grabbing Cheetah by her tail. However, along with being fast, Cheetah proved to be stronger than she looked. She ran across the gym dragging the amazon by her heels. She made her crash into every gym equipment until she let go.

Cheetah was about turn around to attack Wonder Woman while she was down, but it was Ghost Spider's turn to rescue. She surprised Cheetah with a high kick that sent her up in the air. She then shot several strings of web that covered Cheetah in midair.

"You know, the she-beast look is passe, but the mummy… pure gold."

After the end of that quip, Cheetah found herself completely paralyzed in web. It wildly struggled to escape while Wonder Woman approached Ghost Spider.

"You okay?"

"I've been better." Ghost Spider sighed. "Just wish I could have thought of this with Peter."

Wonder Woman frowned in sympathy. "I understand. An upcoming dance. A monster on the loose. This is all very overwhelming, I bet. But you made a mistake. And you learned from it."

Underneath her mask, Gwen couldn't help but smile.

The sound of something snapping caught the two girls' attention. They turned their heads seeing Cheetah finally clawing her way to freedom. She landed across the ring from Wonder Woman ready for one final strike.

"I got this." The amazon promised readying herself.

Ghost Spider took a bit of time to get out of the way. She just watched in awe as both Wonder Woman and Cheetah sprinted toward each other. They jumped onto the springboards and hurled themselves up into the air. They clashed in the middle of the air and a flash of lightning covered it up. When Ghost Spider got a better view, she was relieved when Wonder Woman landed gracefully on her feet and Cheetah landed flat on her back.

"Whoo! Go Wonder Woman!" Ghost Spider cheered as she headed over to her friend.

"Well, Cheetah, it appears that cats don't always land on their…" Wonder Woman stopped herself when she noticed that Cheetah wasn't there anymore. The locker room door slammed shut in front of her.

"Hurry!" Ghost Spider said.

Wonder Woman chased into the other room, but as soon as she found a civilian there, she quickly changed into her school clothes. Ghost Spider didn't bother changing while Diana picked up Barbi

Minerva, who was laying down on the floor looking filthy and worn out.

"Diana?" Barbi asked. "Stay away. The monster…"

"The Cheetah is gone, Barbi. You're safe now." Diana assured.

"Oh, Diana, this is all my fault." Barbi said full of regret. "I released the Cheetah."

Both Diana and Ghost Spider gasped. "You? Why?" Diana asked.

"Because… I was jealous of you." Barbi admitted.

"You needn't be." Diana said. "One person's success does not preclude another's. Jealousy is a green-eyed monster that will consume you if you do not let it go."

"She's right." Ghost Spider said. "I've seen this whole thing before. A dear friend of mine went through a similar thing, and he made a mistake that costed him everything. Don't make the same mistake he did, Barbi. Let go of your jealousy before it's too late."

Barbi looked down on the floor with tears forming in her eyes. "All right. I'm sorry."

After assuring that Barbi would be safe and sound, Gwen and Diana returned to their recovering friends. They all gathered at the gym.

Gwen couldn't help but see Supergirl still as a statue covered with purple stuff. "What happened?"

"That monster was too fast for me and made me misfire." Zatanna said. "Don't worry. She'll be fine… in about seven hours."

"So on top of a list of supervillains at large, we've got a wild cheetah monster to deal with." Ghost Spider said.

"Surely, we will face her another day." Wonder Woman vowed.

Finally alone, Barbi washed her face at the locker room sink. She cracked a wicked grin in the mirror while admiring her green cat-like eyes.

"Let go of the green-eyed monster? And why would I ever let go of this?"

Author's Note: That's the latest chapter finished. I figured Gwen Stacy would be emotional here since the Cheetah situation had a lot of similarities to what happened to Peter Parker.

On another note, I'd like to ask a question do you all. As you know, I have written a couple of musical stories. I was wondering if you would like this to be a musical fanfic too. Now, this wouldn't be a song in every chapter. It would be occasional. I'm only asking because in DC Super Hero Girls, there were some songs sung and I've already featured Dove Cameron's Born Ready song. What do you think? Would you like that?

Hope you all enjoyed the chapter. Any and all comments are welcome.
