Blush Mountain
The group are currently riding on Mudsdales on Route 12 on their way to their next trial. As they travelled, Eddy was deep in thought.
A few moments ago, he had an encounter with his older brother who revealed his intention of competing in the Alola League himself; even made Eddy help him capture an Alolan Geodude.
"Are you still thinking about your brother, Eddy?" asked Edd, getting Eddy's attention.
"Yeah." replied Eddy.
"What was he like, Eddy?" asked Maxiley.
"He was cool; but he wasn't exactly brother of the year." replied Eddy. "He tortured me my entire life; twisting my ankle until I said 'uncle', slammed me into walls several times; I was glad he moved out after he finished school."
"At least you have friends who will stay by your side." said Edd.
"Friends until the end." said Ed. Eddy smiles in response.
"You know, that's another thing people liked about you, Eds." said Maxiley. "Besides being strong trainers, despite defeating one another in the Lily of the Valley Conference, you remained friends; your loyalty to each other is admirable." The Eds smiled, which prompted Sarah and Jimmy to do the same.
"Thanks, guys." said Eddy. "Who needs that jerk brother of mine when I have friends and adoring fans?"
"Exactly." said Edd. Eddy lets out a relieved sigh.
"Okay, gang; lets head to our next trial." said Eddy. As they continued travelling, Jimmy sees something ahead of them.
"Sarah, look." said Jimmy, pointing at something. Sarah looks to where Jimmy was pointing; to her displesure, she sees Nancy facing a boy while Nathan was sitting on a rock.
"Nancy." muttered Sarah, bitterly.
"Who's Nancy?" asked Maxiley.
"My rival." replied Sarah.
"And that boy on the rock is her twin brother and my rival, Nathan." said Jimmy, pointing at Nathan.
"Looks like she and that boy are about to have a Pokemon battle." said Edd.
"Let's watch." said Ed. Back with the twins and the boy Nancy was facing.
"Okay, kid; we'll each use one Pokemon each." said Nancy as she pulls out a Dive Ball.
"Sounds good to me." said the boy as he pulls out a pokeball. "Trubbish, go!" He throws the pokeball and releases a Pokemon that looked like a garbage bag.
"What is that?" asked Edd, taking out the Rotom Dex and pointing it at the Pokemon.
"Trubbish, the Trash Bag Pokemon. If a young Pokémon or child breathes in the toxic gas that Trubbish belches out, it could be a life-threatening situation." said the Rotom Dex.
"Clamperl, go!" said Nancy, throwing her Dive Ball and releasing a light blue Pokemon that had six extensions surrounding a pink, pearl-like head and it was inside a dark blue clam shell. Edd points the Rotom Dex at the Pokemon.
"Clamperl, the Bivalve Pokemon. Clamperl's pearls are exceedingly precious. They can be more than 10 times as costly as Shellder's pearls." said the Rotom Dex. Clamperl and Trubbish face each other.
"Trubbish, use Take Down!" said Trubbish's trainer. Trubbish charges at Clamperl.
"Clamperl, Iron Defense!" said Nancy. Clamperl closes its shell, and it glows and shines, increasing its defense before Trubbish rams into it; it flinches in pain from the recoil damage of Take Down. "Now use Water Gun!" Clamperl's shell opens, and it unleashes a spiral of water from its mouth, and it hits Trubbish.
"Use Sludge!" said Trubbish's trainer. Trubbish spews purple sludge from its mouth, and it hits Clamperl.
"Use Clamp!" said Nancy. Clamperl leaps at Trubbish and closes its shell onto the top half of Trubbish's body; it begins running around flailing its arms while Clamperl was still clamping onto it. After it ran around for several seconds, it stops and collapses. Clamperl releases its grip on Trubbish, revealing it to have swirly eyes.
"Way to go, sis!" said Nathan.
"Good job, Clamperl." said Nancy. Trubbish's trainer returns Trubbish to its pokeball; he walks to Nancy.
"Good battle." said Trubbish's trainer. Nancy nods in repsonse; Trubbish's trainer gives Nancy pokedollars and walks away. As Nancy turns to leave, she spots Sarah; she frowns at her, who glares at her in response while Jimmy and Nathan also frown at each other. Seconds later, the twins turned and walked away.
"Let's just go." said Sarah. They then continued to ride their Mudsdales up Route 12. They soon reach the start of a path leading up a mountain.
"What's up there?" asked Jimmy. Edd takes out the map and looks at it.
"According to this, this is known as Blush Mountain." said Edd.
"Maybe there's some more cool Pokemon up there!" said Ed.
"Let's check it out." said Eddy as he and the others started to ride their Mudsdales up the path. As they get close to the top, they suddenly feel a tingly feeling all over their bodies.
"Guys, I feel funny." said Sarah.
"I feel a little odd myself." said Edd.
"Maybe we're tingling with excitement?" suggested Maxiley.
"No, this is something diffferent." said Edd.
"Well, it's not exactly painful at all." said Eddy. "Let's just keep going." The group rode for a few more minutes before they reach the top to see a large facility with electrical towers nearby.
"What's this place?" asked Sarah. Edd notices a nearby sign and looks at it.
"This appears to be the Alola Geothermal Power Plant." said Edd with interest.
"Geo-what?" replied Eddy.
"Geothermal, Eddy." answered Edd. "This facility uses heat from the earth to generate power for the area." Ed decides to look around the area to see if any Pokemon were around, and he soon finds one that looked like Eddy's former Graveler, but it had a silvery body, black stone eyebrows, and yellow and black crystals on parts of its body.
"What's that?" asked Ed. Edd takes out the Rotom Pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Graveler, the Rock Pokemon, and the evolved form of Geodude. Graveler's entire body is tinged with electricity due to the stones it likes to eat. It's very quick-tempered." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"So, this is what an Alolan Graveler looks like." said Edd with interest. "I wonder what its evolved form will look like." Eddy stepped forward.
"I'm battling this Graveler because it'll be good practice for if by some chance my bro even makes it to the Alola League, and I end up battling him." said Eddy as he takes out his Charjabug's pokeball and lets him out of it.
"Go get it, Eddy!" cheered Ed. The Graveler throws rocks at Charjabug.
"Charjabug, use Dig!" said Eddy. Charjabug quickly burrows underground and narrowly avoids getting hit.
"Very good, Eddy." said Edd. "Dig should be very effective against a Pokemon that's a combination of rock and electric types." Soon Charjabug erupts from the ground beneath the Graveler and strikes it, doing super effective damage. Graveler responds by throwing rocks again, this time hitting Charjabug for super effective damage.
"Charjabug, use Crunch!" said Eddy. Charjabug leaps at the Graveler and bites it hard, doing enough damage to knock it out.
"You did it, Eddy!" said Ed. Charjabug suddenly starts to twitch involuntarily.
"I think the atmosphere around this facility is affecting Charjabug." said Edd. Charjabug starts glowing and changing.
"Eddy, your Charjabug's evolving!" said Jimmy. Everyone watches as Charjabug starts to transform; when he finished, he looked like a navy-blue stag beetle with long, yellow-edged, mandibles, and a transparent pair of wings on his back.
"He looks so cool!" said Ed. Edd points the Rotom Pokedex at Eddy's newly evolved Charjabug.
"Vikavolt, the Stag Beetle Pokemon, and the final evolution of Grubbin. Vikavolt flusters opponents with acrobatic flying maneuvers. This creates an opening for it to deliver an electric beam attack." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"Sweet!" said Eddy as he looks at his new Vikavolt.
"And it appears that after evolving, it learned Thunderbolt and Air Slash; plus, he has the Levitate ability which makes him immune to ground type moves." said Edd.
"That's amazing how you're Charjabug suddenly evolved like that." said Maxiley.
"Not exactly." said a facility worker who was watching the group.
"What do you mean?" asked Edd.
"The energy field that this area gives off causes Charjabugs, Magnetons, and Nosepasses to evolve when they grow in level." explained the worker. Edd looks at his Magneton's pokeball with interest.
"Perhaps now would be a good opportunity to train my Magneton." said Edd.
"Go for it, pal!" said Eddy. Edd releases his Magneton and looks around for a Pokemon for it to battle; he soon finds a small orange mouselike Pokemon with red dots on his cheeks with black whiskers coming out of them, along with a long black tail.
"It's so cute!" said Sarah. Edd takes out the Rotom Pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Dedenne, the Antenna Pokemon. Its upper whiskers are sensors that survey its surroundings. Its lower whiskers are organs that shoot electricity." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"Can I catch it after you battle it?!" asked Sarah.
"I suppose that would be okay." said Edd, making Sarah squeal with delight. He then takes out his Magneton's pokeball and lets it out. The Dedenne leaps at Magneton and starts nuzzling it, not seeming to do much. "Magneton, please use Tri Attack!" Magneton's body glows white before firing off a triangle-shaped beam of energy which hits the Dedenne; it responds by releasing a jolt of electricity from its body, hitting Magneton, but not doing a lot of damage. "Magneton, please use Flash Cannon!" Magneton fires off a silver beam of energy from the center of its body that hits the Dedenne, knocking it to the ground.
"Catch it, Sarah!" said Maxiley. Sarah quickly takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at the Dedenne, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"I caught Dedenne!" cheered Sarah. Dedenne's pokeball vanishes and is transported to storage. Edd looks up Sarah's new Dedenne's information.
"This says that your Dedenne's a girl, she knows Tackle, Tail Whip, Thunder Shock, Charge, Charm, Parabolic Charge, Nuzzle, Thunder Wave, and Volt Switch; and she has the Pickup ability like Eddy's Meowth does." said Edd. All of a sudden, his Magneton starts to glow.
"Double-D, your Magneton's evolving!" said Ed. Everyone watches as Magneton starts to change; when it finished, its body looked like a UFO with a couple of Magnemites jutted into the sides of it, three large dark gray magnets sticking out from the bottom of it, and a yellow antenna on top. Edd points the Rotom Pokedex and points it at his newly evolved Magneton.
"Magnezone, the Magnet Area Pokemon, and the final evolved form of Magnemite. There are still people who believe that this Pokémon came from outer space. It emanates a powerful magnetic field." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"It's so cool!" said Ed.
"Congratulations, Magnezone." said Edd.
"Whoa, check that out!" said Maxiley. Everyone looks to see Maxiley looking at a bipedal, turtlelike Pokemon with a red and yellow spiny shell on its back and another on top of its head, light green skin, and a long snout with a single nostril standing in the middle of tall grass. Edd takes out the Rotom Dex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Turtonator, the Blast Turtle Pokemon. Its exploding shell poses a real danger but is sensitive to moisture. On rainy days, Turtonator takes silent refuge in caves." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"This Pokemon's mine." said Maxiley as he pulls out a pokeball. "Pupitar, go!" He throws Pupitar's pokeball and releases him; Turtonator spots Pupitar and glares at him. "Okay, Pupitar, Screech!" Pupitar lets out a loud yell and releasing soundwaves onto Turtonator, weakening its defense. Turtonator releases a stream of fire out of its snout, and it hits Pupitar, not dealing much damage to it.
"Pupitar, Rock Slide!" said Maxiley. Pupitar lets out a yell and gray rocks appear above him and they fly at Turtonator, hitting it, dealing massive super effective damage to it due to its defense being weakened. Turtonator fires a fireball out of its snout, and it hits Pupitar, but not doing much damage to it.
"Pupitar, Bite!" said Maxiley. Pupitar leaps towards Turtonator while a white aura shaped like a pair of teeth form around him and he bites into Turtonator with it, damaging it; it collapses to the ground. Maxiley takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Turtonator, hitting it, and sucking it in. After it wiggled around a few times, it clicks, indicating a successful capture. "Yeah! I caught a Turtonator!"
"Great work, Maxiley." said Sarah. Turtonator's pokeball vanishes and is transported to storage.
"When we get to a Pokemon Center, I'm exchanging one of my Pokemon for Turtonator." said Maxiley. Edd looks up Turtonator's information on the Rotom Dex.
"This says your Turtonator's a boy, he knows Ember, Tackle, Smog, Protect, Incinerate, Flail, Endure, Iron Defense, and Flamethrower." said Edd. "He has the Shell Armor ability which prevents him from receiving critical damage."
"I'm definitely exchanging for Turtonator." said Maxiley. The group spent an hour training their Pokemon. During the training, Ed's Grimer began to glow.
"Guys! Grimer's evolving!" said Ed. They watched as Grimer began to grow; after the glowing stopped, Grimer was bigger and he had green, pink, and yellow stripes with thin blue stripes between each of the other stripes and white crystals around his mouth and on each end of his fingers. Edd points the Rotom Dex at Ed's newly evolved Grimer.
"Muk, the Sludge Pokemon, and the evolved form of Grimer. What look like fangs and claws are actually crystallized poison that will afflict you at a mere touch, so don't get too close." said the Rotom Dex.
"According to this, when your Grimer evolved, he learned Venom Drench; it weakens the attack, special attack, and speed of a poisoned opponent." said Edd.
"Cool." said Ed.
After that, the group returned their Pokemon to their pokeballs. They climbed onto their Mudsdales and began riding down the mountain to continue on their Island Challenge.
Meanwhile, on Melemele Island in Hau'oli City; Eddy's brother was walking down a sidewalk past the beach after arriving on the fishing boat he took to the Alola Region. As he was walking, he sees a boy showing another boy a poster of Eddy in the outfit he wore at the Lily of the Valley Conference with his Infernape behind him; he frowns, then looks at his Alolan Geodude's pokeball he was holding.
"Time to show this region that I'm a way better trainer than that runt of a brother of mine." said Eddy's brother. As he was walking, he looks at the beach and stops when he sees an attractive young woman with long blonde hair, wearing a light purple bikini, walking by the ocean, stroking her hair back with her hand. Grinning, he takes off his hat and smooths his hair back before walking towards the woman.
(Seconds later)
"JERK!" shouts the woman.
SLAP!
Eddy's brother walks off the beach with a frown on his face, along with the imprint of a hand on the left side of it.
"I can't believe a creep like you can be related to someone as cool as Eddy!" exclaimed the woman.
"Soon, every babe in this region will want me once I win the Alola League." muttered Eddy's brother. He begins walking towards the direction to Iki Town.
