"Hurry up, Adrien! If we start running now, we may just make the next showtime," Nino said. "Hold on," Adrien rummaged in his bag and pulled out his phone. Adrien groaned. "Its Father calling, so it must be important." Adrien was as disappointed as Nino, and thought about nearly letting the call go to voicemail, but thought better of it. Just before Adrien clicked "accept" Nino caught the phone number, an idea forming in his head. "I'll see you later, dude!" Nino whispered, then bolted.
He stopped on a nearby park bench, grabbing a scrap of paper and book out of his bag to write down the phone number. Nino felt extremely devious as he wrote down from memory.
It was payback time. Nino would play it safe though, and gathered his things looking for a payphone. Then his call couldn't be traced back to him. He sprinted over to the first payphone he saw, punching in the numbers after inserting his quarter.
Nino tapped his foot as the phone buzzed, and his expression grew worried. If Gabriel didn't pick up, this whole scheme would be a bust. Just then, the phone clicked on the other end. "Who is this?" Adrien's father snapped, without even bothering to say hello. "Your the worst!" Nino shouted into the phone, then slammed it down. Nino felt very pleased with himself and burst out laughing. "Serves Adrien's old man right, and that's also payback for the bubbles!"
Gabriel peered down over his glasses as the phone went dead. It didn't take him long to march to Adrien's room. "Adrien, I just had a interesting phone call," he said, and Adrien raised a eyebrow. "I think your friend Nino just pranked called me." Adrien tried to keep a straight face. He might be Cat Noir, but at the moment, Nino was his hero.
He would be buying a huge ice cream the next time they all went a double date.
