Chapter 17: Comix Zone:
Sonic's POV:
Tails and I were heading to the neighbor's house... to apologize for me breaking his window.
"What do you know about Mr. Turner," asks Tails.
"Not much," I said, "he's kind of a mysterious guy." I knocked on the door, but there was no answer.
Then the door opens.
. . .
"I don't know about this, Sonic," says Tails.
"Look, Tom said he'll take away my chilidogs unless I do this," I said. We then searched the place for Mr. Turner.
. . .
We found a room and there was a rat in a cage and Mr. Turner working on something.
"Excuse me," I said.
"Huhh? What are you guys?"
"We're alien animals and... I kind of accidently broke your window," I said.
"My window's broken," asks Mr. Turner, "I guess I haven't been paying attention."
"Wow, are you making a comic book," asks Tails.
"Yep. I call it Comix Zone," says Mr. Turner, "it's based on some vivid dreams I've been getting."
"Comix Zone," I asked, "is it a fourth wall breaking story?"
"It's the story of the New World Empire's attempt to defend Earth from an invasion of alien renegades," says Mr. Turner.
"That sounds cool, Mr. Turner," says Tails.
"Call me Sketch."
Then there was a freak thunderstorm.
"That's random," says Tails.
Then a bolt of lightning hits the comic.
"How did that happen," asks Sketch.
We looked and saw the lightning came from the window I broke. "I think it might be my fault," I said.
Then the strangest thing happened, and someone came out of the comic.
"I don't believe it," says Sketch, "it's the villain of my comic, a mutant named Mortus!"
"So, this is the real world," says Mortus, "a world without heroes to get in my way."
"Actually, there are plenty of superheroes," I said, "Spider-Man, Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Ben 10, Mega Man, the Flex Fighters, and me." I then showed how fast I was.
"Impressive," says Mortus, "I guess I'll have to start with getting rid of the three of you." Mortus then opens a vortex. "Once you, Sketch Turner are dead, I will become flesh and blood!" He then laughs as we are getting sucked int he vortex.
. . .
I opened my eyes. "Did I miss the Great Pumpkin," I asked, "did he leave us any toys?"
"Where are we," asks Tails.
"You're at Head Quarters," says a woman.
"General Alissa Cyan," says Sketch, "but that's not possible... Guys, I think we're in my comic!"
"I don't know what you're talking about," says General Cyan, "but you might be the Chosen One."
"Well, I am a hero..." I began.
"I think she means Sketch," says Tails.
"So did I," I lied.
"Look, we just need to get home," says Sketch, "I gotta feed my rat." Then Sketch's rat reveals it followed us here. "Roadkill?"
"That is one loyal rat," I said.
"You have to save our post-apocalyptic world from the evil of Mortus and the Alien Invaders," says General Cyan.
"Look, I'm no superhero," says Sketch.
"We have no time for this," says General Cyan, "you and your animal sidekicks have to get going!"
"Hey," I said. She then sends us away.
. . .
Now we're in some kind of destroyed city.
"How did we get here," asks Tails.
"It's a comic book," says Sketch, "this is ridiculous, I'm a comic book artist and a rock musician! Why don't they call the Avengers?"
"Because logic," I said, "it's weird we're here."
"Who are you?" A giant, muscled alien renegade showed up. Steam came out of the vents on his back.
"I'm your maker, Gravis," says Sketch.
"You dare to threaten me," asks Gravis.
"No, I mean I'm literally your maker," says Sketch.
Then Gravis came at us, but I did a spin dash against him. "You will pay, porcupine!"
"I'm a hedgehog, Gravy."
I kept jumping on him until I damaged his weak spot.
"You, see? You're more qualified for this then me," says Sketch, "the most heroic thing I've ever done is keep Roadkill from becoming literal roadkill."
"Well, we still gotta get out of here," I said.
. . .
In the next part of town, we ran into this shadowy alien.
"Strigil," says Sketch, "he can teleport by merging with the ground!"
I tried a spin dash, but Strigil dodged and was beating me around. I then had an idea. Wait for him to attack. When Strigil comes after me, I knocked him down.
. . .
We arrived in the next area.
"You dare harm my children!" It was a big dragon.
"Big Mama Dragon," says Sketch, "the Mother of the Renegades!"
"Not much of a family resemblance," says Tails.
I tried, but Big Mama Dragon hits me with a fire blast. Just as Big Mama Dragon was about to attack me, Sketch punches her.
"How'd I do that," asks Sketch.
"Sketch, you're the hero of this comic," I said, "you can do anything!"
Sketch then glares at Big Mama Dragon and starts beating her. She tries to fight back, but Sketch was too much, and he then destroys her.
"You did it," says Tails.
"Way to go," I said.
Then for a brief second, Sketch looked like a superhero. "That was weird," says Sketch.
. . .
Now we're in some kind of Tibetan temple.
"I hope you're not racist," I said.
"Don't worry, I try to be respectful," says Sketch.
Then an old man comes. "Greetings," he says.
"The Temple Master," says Sketch, "he trains the forces of Mortus!"
"Do you have a plot," I asked.
"Welcome to my tournament," says the Temple Master, "now, you will fight my trained warriors! Styx!"
"Hey, we know a badger with a name like that," says Tails.
But nope, Styx was a monk with a powerful staff. Sketch and I take him on, and we beat him.
"Impressive," says the Temple Master, "but now you shall face Mongoria!"
Mongoria was a dangerous woman warrior who uses a hook attached to her long, braided hair. She was beating us, but when she saw Roadkill, she got so scared, I was able to knock her down.
"Now, you will face me," says the Temple Master.
"I got this one," says Sketch.
Sketch then fights the Temple Master. The Temple Master was a skilled martial artist, but that wasn't going to stop Sketch. In the end, Sketch defeats him.
"That was awesome," says Tails.
The superhero thing happened again. "Woah."
"As a superpowered animal, I find that odd," I said.
. . .
Now, we're at a nuclear missile.
"What's wrong with this panel," asks Tails.
"I didn't get a chance to finish it," says Sketch.
"Oh boy," I said.
General Cyan was trying to defuse the missile, but then another renegade comes.
"You will now face Pelagus..." He then got tazed.
We look and saw that Roadkill has an electric tail now.
"Cool," says Tails.
Mortus then shows up and traps General Cyan in the missile.
"NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOO," shouts Sketch.
"Now you must face me," says Mortus.
The missile fills with liquid.
"Let's do it to it," I said.
"I'll try to free General Cyan," says Tails.
Sketch and I take on Mortus while Tails tries to free General Cyan. Mortus was the toughest guy in this comic book world.
"Fools, you are no match for me," says Mortus.
"We'll see about that," says Sketch.
I did a spin dash, but Mortus grabs me and throws me at Sketch like a bowling ball. "I am like a God," says Mortus.
"This is my world," says Sketch, "and I'm the one with the power!" Then Sketch turns to a full-on superhero and with all his power, he destroys Mortus.
. . .
Now, we're back in the real world and Sketch is a world-famous comic book artist. Comix Zone has become a hit. Oh, and as for General Cyan, she now works for G.U.N. I'm sure she's gonna like living in a world that hasn't been taken over by aliens or mutants. Sketch is also working on a new comic book... Sonic the Hedgehog. I hope it doesn't end with a cliff hanger. Personally, I always thought of myself as more of a video game.
This chapter actually reference the Sonic the Hedgehog Comic. In the next chapter, Sonic and the others find a piece of the Master Emerald.
