Chapter 21: Knavik:
Sonic's POV:
Knuckles had another vision.
"So, where is it," I asked.
"The next shard is in an ESP research lab," says Knuckles.
"You mean a psychic place," I asked, "they actually believe in that stuff?"
"Sonic, I get visions of the emeralds and you had a vision telling you I needed help," says Knuckles.
"Yeah, but I'm sure that's just chaos stuff," I said, "there are no real psychics. It's all just a con."
"Believe what you want to believe," says Knuckles, "let's get going."
. . .
We arrived at the research lab.
"Greetings," says the scientist running the place, "my name is Dr. Knavik. How may I be of assistance to you?"
"We are looking for a piece of an emerald," says Jet.
"Well, I assure you, we don't even collect rocks," says Dr. Knavik, "we just study ESP."
"Yeah, but that psychic stuff is a load of baloney," I said.
"There are many non-believers," says Dr. Knavik, "we are used to it."
"So, are you psychic," asks Scar.
"We have to go now," says Jet.
. . .
"That guy's running a scam," I said.
"Sonic, there are literally superheroes and villains with psychic powers," says Scar.
"Those can be justified by mutant powers," I Said, "completely different."
"I'm not seeing how," says Big.
"Doesn't matter," says Knuckles, "I had a vision, and we have to find that shard of the emerald!"
. . .
Tails, Knuckles, and I then snuck in. We were traveling through the vents. We then ended up in the kitchen.
"Guys, look," says Tails. We saw Cream and Cheese taking food from the fridge.
When they noticed us, they dropped the food and hugged us. "I'm so happy to see you guys," says Cream.
"What are you doing," I asked.
"I know it was wrong," says Cream, "but we were so hungry, so we snuck in to take some food."
"Chao," says Cheese.
"Well, at least we found you two," says Knuckles.
"And I found all of you," says Dr. Knavik as he cages us.
. . .
Tails, Cream, Cheese, and I were stuck in a cage. They took Knuckles.
"What do they want with Knuckles," asks Cream.
"I don't know," I said, "but we gotta get out of here!"
Knuckles' POV:
I was strapped to a table. Knavik came.
"What do you want," I asked.
"I overheard the conversation you had with the others, and I want to see your psychic ability," says Knavik.
"What-" I then realized he meant my vision. "I have a connection to the Master Emerald and the Chaos Emeralds! That's all!"
"Well, let's see then." He then reveals he did have the shard. That figures. "We're going to experiment on your psychic connection to this emerald."
Sonic's POV:
Tails was trying to hack into the cage's system.
"Chao," says Cheese.
"Almost... got it!" Tails manages to unlock the cage.
"Yay," says Cream.
"Now to find Knuckles," I said.
. . .
We were going through the halls. Some of Knavik's goons found us, but I took them down with a spin dash. "Let's keep moving," I said.
Knuckles' POV:
Knavik was torturing me, trying to find my connection to the shard. This guy's probably a bigger mad scientist then Eggman!
"I'm getting closer," says Knavik.
Sonic's POV:
We were going through goons until we found Kavik's lab. I then did a spin dash to knock the door down.
"What's he doing," asks Cream.
We saw Knuckles getting electrocuted. "I'm just trying to see his psychic connection to the shard," says Knavik.
"Why does all this psychic stuff mean so much to you," I asked.
"Because I plan to use an army of psychics to help me take over this pathetic planet!" Knavik then revealed himself to be an alien.
"I did not see that coming," says Tails.
I then tried to fight this guy, but he was surprisingly tough. During the fight, Tails attempted to free Knuckles while Cream and Cheese took the shard. Knavik was beating me around. "You are no match for me, rodent!"
"Hey, Knavik," says Knuckles. Knuckles then knocked him out.
"I weakened him," I lied.
. . .
Knavik was being taken in and Amy and Bunnie hug Cream while Big pets Cheese. We also got another shard for the vault. So far, everything's working out.
In the next chapter, Sonic and his friends look for a shard while dealing with dinosaurs and running into Stix the Badger.
