Chapter 38: Darkness:
Sonic's POV:
I was running around, but then I stopped when I saw a weird owl. The owl was about the size of a man. Weird.
. . .
I told Tails and Knuckles about the owl I saw.
"Are you sure it was that big," asks Tails.
"I know owls," I said, "I was raised by one!"
"Fair point," says Tails.
Then the Master Emerald started to glow. It showed us an image that looked kind of like the owl I saw.
"What is that thing," asks Knuckles.
"I can answer that!" An old man showed up. Knuckles attacks him.
"Who are you," asks Knuckles.
"Get off of Uncle!"

Uncle tells us his story and his indirect connection to the clones and then he told us about the owl. "His name is Brolgath, Demon of Darkness! He plans to perform a spell that will block out the light and cover the world in darkness!"
"So, how do we beat this guy," asks Knuckles.
"We must do research," says Uncle. Then the Master Emerald shows us a sword. "Or big rock could tell us. That works too." Uncle takes a look. "That is Sword of Light! Big Rock is telling us we must use that to defeat demon!"
"And there's the location," says Knuckles.
"Barrows Mansion," says Uncle, "otherwise known as... THE CLOCK TOWER!"

We arrived at the Clock Tower. "Let's look for that sword," I said.
Brolgath's POV:
So, they seek the Sword of Light, but little do they know that I have it! Still, they could be a threat... though, I am wondering why their group includes a hedgehog, a fox, and an echidna. Oh well. "Bobby, you know what to do!"
Tails' POV:
We decided to split up. I was checking out the bathroom. You never know, maybe the sword's hidden here. Anyway, I opened a shower curtain and... a murderous little boy with deformed features, wielding a huge pair of scissors came out. He was coming towards me with those scissors, I had to fly away.
Knuckles' POV:
I found a hidden room. I then found a letter. It was written by someone named Simpson. It was talking about a woman named Mary Barrows. She probably owned this place. It mentioned that she made a deal with the Darkness Demon. The result was her twin sons turning into monsters. The Demon then ate her. Also, Simpson was trapped there for three days, until his death on November 10, 1986.
"Knuckles," says Tails, "I'm being chased by the Scissorman... at least, that's what I'm calling him!"
"There's no one behind you," I said.
"I guess I lost him," says Tails.
I then looked at the letter. I wonder... could the Scissorman be one of Mary's sons. "I think I know what was chasing you!"
Uncle's POV:
Uncle was searching through hallway when little monster with scissors came. "You want a piece of Uncle?" Uncle gets out lizard, but Little Monster cuts it. "Right then." Uncle then runs.
Sonic's POV:
I found some kind of weird idol. I picked it up. I think it might be helpful.
. . .
We all regrouped. "Wait, so there's a maniac with a giant pair of scissors," I asked.
"I call him the Scissorman," says Tails.
"Uncle saw him too!"
"What's that you got there," asks Knuckles.
"Some kind of idol," I said.
"Looks like the Devil," says Uncle.
"Over here," says Tails.
It was an occult looking church. I then placed the Devil Idol in the center and the floor opens. We then go down the stairs.

We're now in the catacombs under the mansion.
"Demon could be here," says Uncle.
We then walked, but first we had to get past the dog. "Don't worry," I said, "I'm good with dogs. Ask Ozzie." The dog barks at me. "Okay, so he's not like Ozzie at all."
Knuckles then knocks the dog out. "I know that was animal cruelty, but it's not like we have ways to disguise ourselves... which, probably would have been a good idea too."
We then kept moving.
Brolgath's POV:
"Bobby," I said, "come out." Bobby then comes out. "I have one question for you... HOW COULD YOU FAIL ME?" Bobby tries to explain, but he can no longer talk.
Let me tell you something about the Barrows Brothers. They were always horrible children. Picking on others and being quite sadistic in their actions, but then one day, they were infected with a disease and their mother asked me to save them. I did it, but at a price. They're now even more twisted and they work for me. As for their mother, I ate her. Did you expect a story that would make you feel sorry for these two? This is not a sad origin story. What did you think this was? A Youtube video? Anyway, wait 'til those animals and that old man meet his brother.
Sonic's POV:
We then enter a room. There were giant curtains. I decided to see if the Darkness Demon was behind them. I opened the curtains and there was a giant, gluttonous purple creature. It then wakes up and looks at us.
"We should run," I said.
. . .
We ran and the thing was chasing us.
"That might be the Scissorman's brother," says Knuckles.
"Demons are the worst," says Uncle.
I then found a can of kerosene and I splash it on a candle, causing an explosion that destroys the monster.
"Let's keep moving," I said, "I don't think the Demon's down here."

We took an elevator ride out of the catacombs and back into the Clock Tower, but then the Scissorman shows up.
"Wow, he is short," says Knuckles.
"I had about enough of this place," I said. I then grabbed the Scissorman and threw him out the window. "Now, where's the demon?"
"Right here!" The Demon appears before us. "And look!" The sky was getting darker. "You're already too late! Soon, darkness will consume this world and I will be the ruler of a dark kingdom!"
We then tried to fight him, but he kept taking us down. I then saw the Sword of Light and I ran towards it. The demon then gets in my way and blasts me. "It's not over," I said.
"I'm afraid it is," says the Demon.
I then did a spin dash and leaped over him, and I grabbed the sword. "Time to turn the night light on," I said.
"NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOO!"
The sword then zaps the demon and opens a portal that the Demon gets sent through. "It's over," I said.
. . .
"Now light has returned to the world," says Uncle.
"And we can go back to Section Twelve," I said, "and the Master Emerald has a new roommate."
I imagined Brolgath the Darkness Demon being voiced by Michael Wincott who voices Scroop from Treasure Planet. Scar's Adoptive Father is a Descendant of the Barrows Family through his grandmother. In the next chapter, Sonic meets the Sound Demon.
