Chapter 47: Mammoth Mogul:
Tails' POV:
Knuckles was interrogating the Fearsome Foursome. He's trying to find out who they were working for.
"So, was there any luck," asks Mina as she walks in.
"No," I said, "they won't give Knuckles anything."
"Do you think it could be Eggman," asks Mina.
"I doubt," I said, "he's still in Prison Island."
"I guess you're right," says Mina.
"These guys were tough when we fought them," I said.
"It was lucky you made the Sonic Runner," says Mina.
"Do you think I'm too reliant on technology," I asked.
"Tails, you may have the power to fly, but your brain is your greatest power," says Mina, "and don't forget it." She then kisses me on the cheek and walks away.
I just sat there feeling my cheek. Then the alarm went off. There was a strange meteor in the park. Weird. The news never said anything about a meteor coming to Earth. I decided to check it out.
. . .
I took a look at the meteor, and I realized it was a fake.
"I had a feeling something that didn't make sense would attract a scientist." He looked like a mammoth, but they're extinct, even on Mobius.
"Who are you," I asked.
"I am Mammoth Mogul. Last of my kind. Big time crime boss. And the one who hired the Fearsome Foursome."
"You hired them," I asked.
"I just said that," says Mogul.
"But why," I asked.
"I wanted them to get rid of Sonic the Hedgehog because I saw him as a threat. But then I realized that the best way to defeat Sonic is by getting rid of the brains... you!"
"That's not going to happen," I said. I attempted to fly away, but Mogul threw some kind of straps on me that tied my tails up. I couldn't fly.
"The thing about me is, I'm always one step ahead," says Mogul. He then picks me up.
Sonic's POV:
I was looking for Tails.
"Did you find him," asks Carl.
"No luck," I said, "it's weird."
"I found something," says Sally, "the computer picked up a strange meteor that was in the park."
"Tails must've gone over to investigate it," says Mina.
"Then let's check it out," I said.
. . .
Sally, Mina, Carl, and I were then at the park, and we found the meteor.
"It's fake," says Sally.
"But who would make a fake meteor," asks Carl.
"Someone who wants to lure Carl into a trap," I said. I then found mammoth sized footprints. "Let's follow the tracks!"
. . .
We followed them to the museum.
"Whoever kidnapped Tails must be some sort of history fanatic," says Mina.
We then entered.
. . .
We were walking through the museum.
"It's weird how Earth and Mobius have similar histories," says Sally.
"Over here," says Carl, "there is something you have to see in the Ice Age exhibit!"
. . .
It was a mammoth wearing a business suit.
"Weird," I said.
"I think it just blinked," says Sally.
"Maybe it's alive," says Carl.
"It can't be alive," says Mina, "hey, if you're alive, then jump." It didn't jump. "Why aren't you jumping?"
The mammoth then jumps behind us. "You didn't say please!"
When I said mammoth sized footprints, I was just talking about how big they were. I didn't think it was a literal mammoth! "Who are you," I asked.
"I am Mammoth Mogul!"
"Where's Tails," asks Sally.
"Wouldn't you like to know," asks Mogul.
I then charged at him, but he swatted me away.
Tails' POV:
I was trapped in some kind of guillotine. If that mouse chews threw the rope, I could lose my head. I needed a way out of this. I then remembered what Mina said about my brain being my greatest power. I then found the cheese Mogul used to get the mouse to start chewing the rope. I then threw a pebble I found at the plate, causing the cheese to fall on the straps on my tails. I then whistled and the mouse saw that there was more cheese on the straps. The mouse then goes to my tails and starts chewing the straps. When it was done, I managed to escape and just in time. The guillotine almost got me! I then flew away.
. . .
I saw Mogul beating down Sonic, Sally, and Mina. Carl was hiding. I had to find a way to take him down.
. . .
I then set up my trap. Now all I need is to get Mogul to fall into it.
. . .
I then flew to the Ice Age Exhibit. "Hey Mogul," I said.
Mogul looks. "So, you've escaped," asks Mogul.
"Come and get me!" I then flew away.
"I recognize an obvious trap," says Mogul, "but this might be fun." Mogul then comes after me.
. . .
The idea was that Mogul would step on the rope and it would trigger a bunch of things that would cause a cage to fall on him, but he walked over the rope and then grabbed me. "Like I said, I recognize an obvious trap," says Mogul.
"Good thing I had a plan B," I said.
I then pressed a button on a remote and an energy forcefield surrounded him. "What?"
"You should've stayed in the Ice Age," I said.
. . .
Section Twelve came to pick him up.
"Way to go," says Sonic.
"So, he's the guy who hired the Fearsome Foursome," asks Sally.
"Yeah," I said, "he had a clever trap."
"But he was no match for your amazing brain," says Mina.
"Bad news," says Agent Bass.
"What is it," asks Carl.
"Mogul escaped," says Agent Bass, "in a way that makes you wonder how someone his size can get away!"
Looks like it's not the last we've seen of him.
In the next chapter, Shadow returns.
