Hazbin Hotel
In all the excitement, everyone had forgotten about Mimzy. She's been confined to her room the night of the party and Caine had his eyes on her ever since. Once Emily had gone to rest, everyone else had gone to the boardroom for a meeting. "That little bitch! I say we take care of her right now!" Angel already had four tommy guns out and even that didn't seem like enough. "A quick death is too good for her; I say we make it last. Caine don't you still have some of those cages around?" He sighed as he listened to Cherri get really blood thirsty. "I'm afraid I don't quite agree that torture is the way to go here. She wronged us, yes, but I'd rather this didn't end in blood shed." Dumbfounded was an understatement when describing everyone's expression. Even Lucifer seemed a bit surprised. "Uh…not that I don't get what you're trying to do here…. but she sold you out to the V's. She almost got you and Emily killed."
He hadn't forgotten. It wasn't something he'd ever just let go, but right now wasn't the time for this. "We have other pressing matters. Don't mistake me, I will never forgive her for what she did. It was wrong and Emily's life was at risk." He sighed. He'd already stopped Alastor once, should he again? "I would like to propose a compromise if I could." When they all leaned forward expectantly, he continued. "What happens outside of the hotel, stays outside of the hotel." Alastor's staticky smile could be heard in the silence. "I for one am in favor of this new philosophy!" His antlers started to grow already with anticipation. They all slowly looked to Charlie. It was her hotel, her choice to adopt the new rule. She let out a sigh "As long as I don't have to hear about it…I can't control what goes on outside our doors." She quickly stopped Alastor before he could zoom off, however. "But! She has to get a head start Alastor. I'll ask her to leave, then after an hour or so…. whatever you do, just do it away from here" She didn't seem comfortable with even that much, but knew she was outnumbered on the subject.
"Excellent! I can't wait…" he started to shift right there into his demon form and Lucifer had to tap his foot under the table "Alright there Bambi, don't need you going ham on the whole room here." At being called his pet name Alastor calmed down and sat back in his chair, sulking. "Not in public…" Angel was already laughing out loud and the rest were having a hard time containing themselves. Caine smirked but he had more things on his mind at the moment. Angel reigned himself in and wiped a tear from his eye "Alright but seriously, can we talk about proud papa for a minute?" Now it was Caine's turn to glare "What? It's true. Our little angel has an unholy bun in the oven." Vaggie crossed her arms and groaned "Angel, its not funny." Lucifer rested his head against his fist as he laid back casually in his chair. "You realize this is going to bring Heaven down on us even harder now? Once they notice, and they will notice, they'll want to destroy the baby."
Caine knew this. He knew Emily was in danger now because of him. "They can try. I'll use all the power I have to stop them, along with any other threats that may come." Alastor picked up on this "Good of you to realize that Heaven isn't the only threat here. If anyone else found out, particularly a trio of nosy overlords, they might also come for the baby. This isn't just the first angel/sinner offspring. It's the child of an overlord and a seraphim angel. To say the child will powerful will be an understatement." Lucifer looked the most worried. "Seraphim are as powerful as archangels like myself. Charlie only has a fraction of my power. This child is going to need serious help reigning it in." Caine closed his eyes as he leaned back and pinched the bridge of his nose. This wasn't right. Here they were talking about his child's future and Emily wasn't present. "I think this discussion should wait until Emily can be a part of it. Besides there's more pressing matters to attend to, namely the spy in the building." He had things to do himself. They were right, the baby would need protection. Fortunately, he happened to know some of the most powerful beings in all of Hell. He excused himself from the meeting, needing to think, to plan.
It was at Emily's bedside where he did his thinking, having pulled a chair up next to her bed to hold her hand while she slept. It was the first time she'd looked so peaceful since the whole ordeal began. When he thought back to the night before, to them expressing their love, his heart filled with emotions he'd thought long forgotten. Chief among them was the love he felt for her, the adoration for her and everything she did, for the baby inside her that they'd raise together. He was a little flustered to realize he felt a bit of lust for her as well. He'd never wanted to think of her in such a way, but now he couldn't help it. It had been a very joyful and pleasurable experience.
He took some time to pen a few letters while she was asleep. The first was to Stolas. He'd want to hear this news firsthand and so he asked if he could call on him the day after next. He also mentioned inviting Asmodeus and Fizzerolli as well. No doubt wherever they went their adorable son was not far behind. The next two took a little longer. So much was left unsaid between himself, Zestial and Carmilla. The night of the party reminded him that there was tension there, specifically on Carmilla's end. Finding out what would be key to starting over, to having good friends in his life once more. Not just good friends, but powerful allies as well. With his stack of correspondence growing, he had one more letter to write, though he wasn't sure if he even should. Emily had delivered the letter he'd given her, but there had never been a response. Did Abel even want to hear from him? Had he even read it? It was foolish to think that what was broken between them could be solved by a letter, not after what he'd done. Though some part of him still wanted his brother to know the good that was going on in his life.
So much had changed, so much was about to change as well. He tapped his quill against the edge of the inkwell, words coursing through his head yet none making it to paper. Finally he just decided to be straightforward and to say what was on his heart. The words came easily after that. By the time Emily woke, he was standing on the balcony, stroking Diablos feathers while Morrigan stood by. Seeing Emily, she flew off and perched on her shoulder, nipping at her hair. Hearing Emily's laugh made him smile. "You're awake…. you could have slept longer you know, you need it." She joined him at his side, resting her head on his arm "I've only just found out I'm pregnant, I'm not about to give birth" she giggled, but then once again reality settled in. "Do you…" but he knew what she was going to say "Not for a moment. What we did was a beautiful thing and we're going to have a beautiful child from it." With the letters clutched firmly in his talons, save for one, Diablo flew off, Morrigan sailing after.
"Who did you write to?" she asked as she played with the ring on his finger. She'd been meaning to ask about it again, just never found the right moment. "Stolas, Zestial, Carmilla…I want them to know. I want them to share in our joy." Emily grimaced a bit "Carmilla…she's….she's not exactly a very kind person" He chuckled a bit as he wrapped his arm and cloak around her against the chill. "She's a hard person, much like myself when you met me. She had to be, to survive. I assure you, she's capable of dropping that façade. She is a caring mother after all." He held up the last letter, showing it to her. "I never asked what happened when you dropped off the other letter, but can you take him one more?" she saw it, taking it into her hand, running her fingers over the neatly written letters that read "Abel". It made her tear up to think how hard he was trying, how all he wanted was to see his brother again. "He read it, if you're curious. I haven't gone back to see if there was a reply. Just give it time." She tucked the letter away, closing her eyes as she got comfortable once more. "Have you thought of names?" she giggled as she wrapped her arms around his "I was thinking Angelica if it's a girl." He hadn't thought that far ahead. "Angel would like that, but his real name is Anthony you know. How about Anionette" She summoned a golden scroll and pen, scribbling the names down. "Theo for a boy?" He nodded "Or Lucius…" As they rattled off names and filled up the list, her hand found his and their fingers linked. "There's so much to do, so much to decide and plan" He rested his cheek on top of her head, just breathing in her presence, her excitement.
"We'll figure it out. Just let's enjoy it for a while." He stroked her knuckles with his thumb as he watched bellow, seeing Alastor leaving the hotel, his shadow a terrible sight to see. Thankfully Emily had missed that meeting.
