Author's note: This is the shortest chapter of this fanfic. And so I apologize for how short it is, lol
Sunday
The next day, they all went to the monastery to train. Wu had taught the basics to Nya yesterday, and now her and Kai were sparring with each other.
Suddenly, Wu called a halt. They all stopped, turning to him.
"Do any of you know what spinjitzu is?" Wu asked.
They all glanced at each other, then nodded, looking confused.
"Yeah," Kai replied. "Why?"
"I am going to teach it to you."
Silence.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa," Jay said. "What?! I thought no one knew spinjitzu!"
"I do, as does Lloyd."
"Wait a minute… was that the golden tornado thing you did?" Kai asked.
Wu nodded. "Yes. I have a training course that will teach it to you." Wu walked over to the small golden dragon statue standing on a pedestal by the door. "All of you may want to move."
Lloyd walked over to his uncle, and the others all followed him in confusion. When they were all standing by the door with him, Wu tapped the statue and it popped up, revealing a hidden red button. Wu pushed the button, and then the training course popped up.
They all gaped, speechless.
"Whoa! This whole thing was under us the whole time?!" Jay squealed in obvious delight and awe. "That's so cool!"
"Well, that was unexpected…" Kai mumbled.
"Yeah, no kidding!" Cole agreed.
"How do you do it?" Nya asked Wu.
"I will demonstrate," Wu replied, walking to the start of it. He finished it in three seconds, and laughed in amusement at his students' bewildered, shocked looks.
"How did you do that?!" Jay asked.
"Lots of practice," Wu replied. "Lloyd, you go next."
Lloyd finished the course in five seconds this time.
"I wanna try!" Kai declared, already walking over.
"Be careful, Kai. There are sharp objects involved," Wu warned.
Kai attempted the first obstacle, but was hit in the face by a training dummy. He lay on the floor, looking a bit shocked. "Ow…"
They tried not to laugh, but a few of them failed.
Kai got up, and Wu told Cole to go next. Cole made it through two obstacles before he failed. On Zane's turn, he made it through three obstacles. On Jay's turn, he timidly approached the first obstacle. When he finally got his courage up to try it, he was smacked in the face by the same training dummy that had hit Kai.
"Oh, ow, ow, ow," Jay moaned, clutching his face.
Nya went next, and she made it through two obstacles.
"Very good, everyone," Wu said, when they had all gotten a turn. "I want you all to take turns on it."
"For how long?" Kai asked, still massaging his head from where the training dummy had hit him.
"Until I tell you to stop," Wu replied, heading inside. "Lloyd, you will supervise."
"Uh, what?" Lloyd asked.
"By the end of the day, we're all going to be dead…" Cole groaned.
Jay gulped nervously. "What if one of us gets cut in half by one of those weapons?"
"You won't," Lloyd assured him. "Now come on, we have training to do. The more you all train, the sooner you'll be able to help me."
"Not if we die…" Jay mumbled.
The day passed by, all of them getting smacked around by the training course.
Zane was feeling anxious all day. He had something to ask Jay, but he was very nervous about it. He didn't usually ask for help.
A few hours later, Wu came out to tell them that they could stop for the day. They all sighed in relief, and then Jay dramatically flopped over onto the floor. The rest of them followed Jay's example, except that they didn't lay down. They just sat down, like normal people.
Zane walked over to Jay. "Jay?"
"What?" Jay asked, sitting up.
"Would you mind helping me with something?"
"Sure. With what?"
"I… I was hoping that you could help me with my… my memory problem…"
Jay's eyebrows rose in surprise. "Oh, you mean your 'amnesia'?"
"Um, yes. I found a locked memory file in my memory banks about a year ago, but… it is locked. I cannot access it. I tried once, but it is heavily sealed. Whatever is there, someone did not want me to know about it."
Jay looked at him curiously. "Huh. So you think this file has all of your missing memories on it?"
Zane nodded.
"Weird… Why didn't, whoever it was, just erase it?"
Zane shrugged. "I am unsure. Will you help me?"
Jay nodded. "Of course!" He stood up, brushing himself off. "But, uh, I'm gonna need a computer. And, my computer is back at my house." He shrugged apologetically. "We'll have to do it tomorrow."
Zane nodded in acceptance. "Alright. Tomorrow."
Later that day, as Lloyd and Wu were walking home, Lloyd asked, "That training course teaches spinjitzu?"
"Yes."
"But I didn't learn spinjitzu that way."
"The training course is not the only way to learn spinjitzu. It just… makes it easier."
"Oh… so, you and dad taught me the hard way, even though we could've just used the training course?"
"No. After Garmadon and I were kicked out of the city, everyone became much more wary about half breeds, as they realized that anyone among them could be one. It was not safe anywhere in human land for us. We would have most definitely been discovered. Therefore, we could not risk venturing to the monastery. It was too risky."
"And so, when things calmed down, you decided to send me to school."
"That is correct."
"I guess that makes sense…"
