After she heard Tony shout,Valentina had a feeling that Tony was going to go out and soon be ended by Chino. She knew that she can't let him leave because she had a feeling that what Anita told her to tell him was a lie. And if it was a lie as a result of what the Jets had done to her,Valentina thought Maria was actually alive and that Tony was going to get his life ended for nothing at all. It was at that moment when Valentina thought that it was a lie and that she had to stop Tony from leaving. As long as she sees Tony,she can stop him from leaving. She called out,"Tony wait!" Valentina called out,"Anton Wyzek,I order you to stop going up and come back here this instant!" That got Tony to listen. He goes down a few steps and she grabbed him. All she could do was hold him and comfort him the best she can. Soon Tony began to try to pull away. She held onto him. He began to say,"Let me go. Let go. Please let me go Valentina. I want to be with her now." as tears continue to run down his face. Valentina said,"I know you want to bewith her. But I don't want you to leave." He began to resist her hold and thrash.
She pinned his arms down with her arms locked around his body. She said,"Tony,I need you to take a deep breath. Just breathe. In and out." He breathes heavily and she said,"It's okay. Just take a deep breath in and let it out slowly." Tony does. She rocks him in her arms. She runs her hand in circles on Tony's back. Tony soon fell asleep in her arms. He was calmed down completely now. Valentina just held him close.
