Saphira stared at Springtrap's silver eyes as he stared back at her in disbelief. Hearing his voice for the first time was something she had once thought was not possible. But he spoke. His voice was deep, a little grainy and dry, but his voice also sounded pleasant to her ears. Though he was surprised, and not angry at this time. Saphira had not really thought about what his voice would sound like if he spoke, so she certainly had no expectation. But now she was quite interested. Especially as talking to the animatronics in a proper conversation used to be her dream.
"It is you…right, Saphira?" Springtrap spoke again, narrowing his eyes slightly as his eyes glanced over her whole body curiously. "But…it cannot be…but your eyes are as deep, and as green as her eyes…you skin reflects the light and your hair shines…" Saphira had no idea he thought like that and she felt her cheeks heating up a little as she listened to him. He glanced at her necklace again before he frowned slightly. "Will you not answer me?"
Saphira swallowed nervously and grabbed her ponytail to twirl in her finger nervously. "Um…yes…" Springtrap's ears twitch upward slightly as she responded. She cleared her throat and smiled a little at him. "Yes…it…it is me, Springtrap. I am the same Saphira you knew." He widened his eyes slightly as he stared at her in shock. "Um…there's so much to talk about. I never thought you could talk, but I am glad…" She flinched as she heard the sound of the system changing from the day system to the night system as she was not paying attention to it.
"Glad?" Springtrap frowned again, and Saphira flinched as he sounded angry suddenly. He shook his head and growled lightly. "You are glad? Are you seriously telling me that you are glad?" Saphira was confused and she did not know what he meant. "I don't believe that ten years later is equivalent to coming back the day after, Saphira. I waited, and waited thinking you might have caught the stomach bug from your brother after that day. But you never came back."
Saphira at least got her answer that he was angry at her, and she felt the guilt already. "I know…I am sorry…" That seemed to make Springtrap angrier as his frown deepened at her response. She bit her lower lip for a moment before she continued to speak. "I wish I could have come back sooner. I would have told you what happened. But…" Saphira felt tears in her eyes and clenched them shut for a moment to hold them back. "It was my parents who kept me away, Springtrap. I didn't have a choice."
"That might be true." She reopened her eyes and jumped as he took a step forward, though he now had a menacing presence coming from him. "However…" He clenched his hands and Saphira stepped aside to move away from the wall, which Springtrap did not stop her, but he turned his body to follow her. "I know you might think it is foolish, Saphira. But I have a deep wound. You gave me that bracelet, showed me that necklace to prove we were best friends forever. And I believed you. I guess you still believe it."
Saphira nodded as she caressed the pendent gently. "Yeah…I do. I never forgot you, Springtrap. A lot happened when I left the pizzeria the last day we saw each other. It really did. I wish I could take it back, because…" Saphira tried to fight the tears, but it was hard. "My life has not been good since. I wish I could tell you that I am excelling in school, that I am going to go to college…but I…"
Springtrap growled lightly, interrupting Saphira and making her back away from him some more, and he stepped forward to follow slowly. "Seeing you now feels like I have seen a ghost, Saphira. Seeing you now, wearing that necklace around your neck, as if nothing has happened since we last saw each other, angers me. I did not get to see you grow up." He glanced over her body again and his expression softened to sadness as his ears droop to the side slightly. "You were this height…" He lifts his hand to the height Saphira used to be when she was a kid. "When I last saw you. But now you are a young woman. But…" Springtrap tilts his head slightly and frowned at her. "You seem to be thin for someone who is meant to be seventeen. Not that it bothers me…" He breathed in deeply, taking in her scent as Saphira continued to back away and his expression sharpened into a frown again. "Why did you come back after ten years, Saphira? Why?"
Saphira shrugged a little as she responded. "I needed a job, Springtrap. I have to have a job. Things are…not good for me, as I said." He narrowed his eyes a little more at her and she continued to walk back. "Will you give me the chance to explain why I didn't come back, Springtrap? I think you probably want to know…"
"No, I do not, actually." Saphira was surprised when he interrupted her bluntly. "I stopped wondering a long time ago. Yes, your parents had control of you, and I understand that. But you now know that I am not a robot, don't you?" Saphira nodded affirmatively. "And you know what happened last night, don't you?" Saphira grimaced and nodded again. "We are alive, just like you, Saphira. I cannot tell you how or why, I just know that I am here. And I am angry that you came back thinking things could go back to how they were. But they won't, and never will."
"I am aware. I am not a child anymore, Springtrap. I guess…we both are broken…" Springtrap growled a little again, and Saphira stepped back some more. "But if you do give me a chance to explain what happened, Springtrap, I-I am sure that…you would rather have the closure then the pain and answer. I know I will never the closure for mine." Springtrap seemed surprised briefly, though he was still angry at her. "To be honest, I completely understand your anger. I wish I could take it away…"
"You can." Saphira flinched when he interrupted her again. "But not by telling me the excuse of your past." He growled some more and sniffed the air deeply. "Mmm…your scent has changed a bit since we last met…I am impressed that you managed to hide from me last night." Saphira did not say anything, knowing it might anger him. "Most of the night guards usually hide in the same place. The bathroom, locker room or staff room. But I do not know where you were hiding, even though I could hear your heartbeat." Saphira was surprised he had good hearing, but she guessed that it was for a reason. "However…we all must eat. We have no choice."
"So human flesh is part of your diet…" Saphira knew that it was the reason why the man would have been killed and eaten the night before, but it was sad. "I'm sorry." Springtrap was confused by her apology and his glare softened slightly. "I imagine it would be frustrating sometimes. Especially if you don't find yourself food for a couple days. Is it possible to be satisfied on leftover pizza and stuff?"
Springtrap huffed and rolled his eyes at her. "I am surprised you…" He pointed at her, making her flinch while she kept walking backwards. "Would apologize for us needing to eat humans? That's never happened before…but you have always been different." He shrugged and tensed, as though he was preparing to lunge. "You should not have come back, Saphira. All the night guards previously never made it to the last day of their first week. You will be no different."
Saphira let out a whimper as a few tears fall from her eyes. "But…I understand…but…we…we could still be friends…"
Springtrap flinched a little as her voice was breaking a little when she responded, but he tensed and growled at her, sharpening his glare as he stared at her. "No. We stopped being friends a long time ago. You are nothing more than another meal added to our weekly diet. Nothing more, nothing less."
Saphira jumped as she felt the handle of the door behind her, as she realized she had moved back through the whole hallway, and not realized it. But when she did, Springtrap growled and lunged, just as she opened the door and slammed it shut, though as she did, he slammed his fist between the door and wall. She turned with a yelp and ran down through the storage hallway, slamming the next door open as Springtrap ran after her.
She didn't even look back as she sensed Springtrap quickly closing in, and she managed to reach the barrels and grabbed one, suddenly pulling it down and Springtrap tripped over it suddenly. Saphira jumped back and looked back in shock to see Springtrap had hit his face, and she felt a little bad as he rubbed his face with a grimace. He shook his head and looked at her with a growl before he began to get back up.
She whimpered and turned to run, grabbing one of the crowbars from the floor that had not been put away to run into the Loading Docks. She flinched hearing the barrel in the hallway behind her slamming against the wall, and heard Springtrap running after her again. She knew she didn't have a lot of options, as Springtrap's stride was much longer than hers, and as she was halfway across the Loading Docks as the door behind her slammed open.
She raced over to the door into the dishwashing room, and slammed the door shut behind her before running, knocking the wet floor signs behind her to slow him down again. As she slammed the curtain away and ran through the kitchen, she almost froze when she saw Chica. The animatronic had pots and pans in her arms and she was putting them away, and she was startled when Saphira ran into the kitchen.
Saphira glanced behind her and looked at her. "Uh…hi again, Chica…"
Chica looked towards the door as Springtrap slammed it open and she sighed deeply. "You should not have returned, Saphira." Saphira flinched as she ran to the door on the other side of the room while Chica did not watch her. "If you knew the hurt you unintentionally inflicted, you would understand."
Saphira did want to understand, but she knew she would not be given a chance. Though it seemed Chica was not interested in chasing her, but Springtrap was chasing her, and Chica likely knew what the result was going to be. Saphira slammed the door open and ran by the storage units, briefly thinking she could hide in one of them if she managed to lose Springtrap, but decided against it as she slammed the next door open and looked towards the chapel.
I wonder if I can hide in one of the rooms in there…maybe open and close a couple doors loud enough so he thinks I am not just in one…
It was her only option as she ran over to the red doors and opened one before hearing the door behind her slamming open. She ran into the carpeted area, opening and slamming several doors before running into the room designed after Foxy and closing it gently. Luckily, it made no sound, and she gripped the crowbar in case she had to use it. And she hoped to not use it. She was lucky Foxy's room was near the front of the chapel, so she could leave if Springtrap would walk into one of the others.
While she hid by the door, Saphira glanced around the room, and saw there was a large king bed in the room. It was a wooden bed with a wooden carving of Foxy at the bedhead of the bed. The carpet was red with lava lamps of different colours, scented candles around the room and fairy lights as well. There was a doorway into the ensuite bathroom of the room as well, and there were drawers shaped like a treasure chest, and Saphira didn't want to know what was inside the drawers.
She heard the chapel doors slamming open and the sound of Springtrap growling as he entered the chapel area. He was humming a little, as he likely knew that Saphira had opened and slammed the doors to find a place to hide from him. Saphira didn't even know what he was feeling, knowing that he was going to try and kill her right now. She could tell he was confused and hurt, and she understood, and she also understood their need to devour humans for food. But she would have wanted to tell him her story.
Saphira listened intently as Springtrap walked past the door, and she guessed that he was listening. She had covered her mouth with her hand, so she hoped he would not hear her. But if he could hear her heartbeat, he might figure out which room she was hiding in. But she hoped she would be lucky. She knew standing right by the door might not be a good idea, but it would allow her to leave the room quickly.
She heard the door beside the room open, and the sound of his footsteps walking into the room. Saphira placed her hand on the door handle, and as she turned it, she heard Springtrap growling lightly and she heard him opening something inside the room. She quickly opened and closed the door quietly, glancing towards the door of the room beside the room she had just walked out of. The door was open slightly, and she quickly walked to the front doors, just as she heard more movement within the room.
Saphira pushed open the door and slipped through the door, as pushing it too far would make a noise. But when she closed the door, it made a light squeak, and Saphira grimaced, knowing Springtrap would hear that. So she ran from the door quickly, trying to think of what to do as she reached the door into the Haunted Classroom, though she did not open it, knowing it would make a lot of noise.
Though as she turned to run down the hallway, she heard the door open anyway, and she turned in surprise, just to see a group of five teenage boys looking back at her in surprise. They seemed to be about fifteen, but hard to tell as they were quite tall. Saphira gripped the crowbar tightly as she knew that these five would have come through the window in the Haunted Classroom, but she would hopefully try to convince the boys to leave the attraction before it was too late.
Saphira breathed in deeply as she frowned at the boys. "You five should not be here. I am the security guard. You need to leave right now before I call the police."
The boys look at each other with smirks and one of the boys with brown hair and brown eyes spoke up. "You don't look like you have been out of school very long to be a security guard, girl. What, are you homeless or something? I imagine that is why you would be here."
Saphira rolled her eyes and glared at the boys. "It doesn't matter what you think, you five…"
"Need to leave…" The blonde haired boy mocked her as he interrupted her before he stepped forward and shoved Saphira suddenly, making her yelp and fall onto her backside, making the boys laugh. "Yeah, right. You aren't the security guard. I bet that badge is just a toy. You snuck in here like we did."
"Though I think she's a pretty one," The curly, red haired boy commented, as he was looking up and down her body with a disgusting expression. Saphira stood up quickly and glared at the boys, though she flinched upon hearing the chapel doors opening. "What do you think? Prettiest thing you ever seen?"
"Hard to tell with her clothes on," The first boy responded with a shrug and chuckled before stepping forward, and reaching to try and grab the crowbar, but Saphira stepped back and tightened her grip. "Hey, hey, that is not safe to use. So you give it here…" The boy looked down and saw the pendent around her neck. "Pfft, you like Springtrap?" Saphira glanced down and glared at the boy. "Oh well…poor choice…" He shoved Saphira against the wall and tried grabbing the pendent, but Saphira quickly hit the boy in the face with the crowbar, punturing his cheek and she stepped back from him as he held his cheek in shock. "You bitch! You…AHHH!"
Saphira stepped back as she saw Springtrap shoved the boy suddenly, slamming the boy's body into the wall and she heard a loud crack, and the boy fell limp onto the ground. Springtrap glanced at Saphira briefly before he looked at the other four with a threatening glare. The four boys stared in shock and turned to go back the way they came, but as they did, Saphira saw the doors open again, and Phantom Freddy, Phantom Foxy and Phantom Mangle blocked their way. She saw Phantom Mangle in her broken form, and she was walking on the roof before lunging at the blonde boy and began to maul him.
Saphira stared in shock as she watched the boy being ripped apart, watching the blood spluttering and hearing his scream as she walked back before she ran into something behind her. She screamed and jumped forward before turning to see Bonnie. She gasped as she stared at his pink eyes while he looked back at her with a sympathetic expression. Though she looked to her left and right just as Foxy, Freddy, Chica, Toy Bonnie and Mangle ran by them towards the boys, and she heard their screams.
She looked back over her shoulder to see Springtrap glaring at her, and she walked around Bonnie, though the animatronic watched her and she did not see anger in his eyes at all. Though she froze when she saw Toy Chica, Toy Freddy, Toy Foxy and Golden Bonnie running down the hallway. She was not sure if they would attack her until Bonnie suddenly grabbed her arm and pulled her out of the way from the other animatronics.
Saphira was surprised and looked at him as he was watching the other animatronics as they began to rip into the bodies of the boys. She looked over at puddle of blood and flesh again, and she felt a sudden wave of nausea. Bonnie lets her go and gestured for her to leave, though she looked back at Springtrap, wondering why he had not just killed her right now. She didn't want to ask as she ran down the hallway and turned right to make her way back to the office.
She ran through the hallway quickly towards the staff door, not knowing what the rest of the night would bring. But she did wonder why Bonnie protected her, and why Springtrap chose not to kill her. He intended to kill her tonight, but he protected her, and chose not to kill due to the group of teenage boys. She wasn't sure why, but she did not know if she would get any answers at the moment. She was just lucky tonight. But the night was not over.
She slammed open the staff door, and she gasped, coming to a sudden stop as she saw Fredbear standing in the hallway, facing her. She was shocked as she stared at him while taking deep breaths. Fredbear was not glaring at her this time. But he was looking at her with a kind expression as he stared at her. "I see…you really did come back. But for what? A job?" Saphira stared at him as she trembled, not knowing how to respond. Unlike Springtrap, his voice was not so deep, though that did not bother her at this time. Fredbear smiled a little at her. "To see you have grown up after watching you from a toddler…even though we never saw you grow up after you did not return."
Saphira swallowed as she tried to fight the nausea. "I can't apologize for something out of my control all the time. But I am sorry, Fredbear. Uh…but…" She glanced over her shoulder and looked back at him. "Now I have learned something about you guys being…not what I thought you were, I am…"
"I know. You are thinking a lot of things." She nodded in agreement as she stepped closer and closed the door behind her, thinking Fredbear would not attack her. "I am not sure what the reason was that prevented you from returning to the pizzeria. I suspect it was terrible, otherwise you would have returned." She looked down and tightened her grip on the crowbar. "Listen to me, Saphira. Do not come back tomorrow." She looked at him in surprise. "Even if it wasn't your fault, Springtrap is hurting deeply for believing you abandoned him. We have all told him that you didn't, and that something happened. He knows that, but…he has not had any connection with another human since. It hurts him to watch people walk by everyday and are fearful of him. You were special to all of us. But you are what he needed."
Saphira nodded as she understood what he was saying. "I understand. I never meant for it to happen…but…my life changed so much when I left, Fredbear. I…I have been through so much as well. I missed all of you." She let tears fall from her eyes as her lower lip trembled. "And…I really could have used a friend as well…but I was prevented from coming here. I have to come back, Fredbear."
Fredbear hummed softly as he listened to her. "I guess you are having a hard time at home." She nodded affirmatively. "I am sorry. I cannot fully understand, but…you have been warned, Saphira. Springtrap's anger might not be…reasonable, even if it is understandable. His anger has clouded who he was when you left, Saphira. He will kill you, even though I know he does not want to deep down."
Saphira pondered on his warning as she thought about it. "So…would you think he won't listen if I tell him about what happened?" Fredbear nodded affirmatively, while Saphira thought deeply. "If that were true, he would have killed me. He wouldn't have saved and spared my life, even when I was just threatened and attacked by some teenagers."
"Is that what happened?" Fredbear hummed as Saphira nodded affirmatively. "Hmm…that explains the ruckus…and if that is true…" He frowned a little as he pondered on her response. "Don't rely on what happened tonight, Saphira. I know Springtrap listened to you so much when you were a kid. But he has changed. I know you had a suspicion we were alive, and that is why you treated us as such…" She smiled and shrugged a little, though she gagged a little, knowing she still needed to get to the bathroom after seeing the humans being killed. Fredbear sighed deeply and stepped aside. "Think about, Saphira. It is nice to see you again. But you should not have returned. And don't return tomorrow."
Saphira did not respond as she ran forward to rush into the office and over to the bathroom. Fredbear did not follow her, and that was fine. Saphira reached the toilet on time before she fell to the floor and heaved into the bowl heavily. She didn't know if Fredbear would hang around with her tonight or not, but that did not matter to her. She was just glad he did not attack her, and he spoke with her. At least she knew that Springtrap was hurting. But he clearly still cared for her, or he would have killed her.
Once her stomach was empty, Saphira flushed the toilet and stumbled back to the desk to hit the reboot button while trying to make sense of the night. She looked out the window and saw Fredbear had gone. She stared out the window before she sat down on the chair and began to sob lightly. She was very overwhelmed at the moment, and the pain of the guilt she felt at the moment, along with missing her brother and the fear of tonight really had piled on her shoulders. And she did not know what the rest of the night was going to be like.
She did not bother checking the cameras at the moment. She already knew what the animatronics were doing, and she did not need to watch them eat their meal. She needed to get the tears out at the moment as the weight of her feelings was just heavy. She placed her arms on the desk and cried into her arms, not wanting the animatronics to hear her as much, even though she was certain that they would hear her.
But she was sobbing so heavy she did not hear footsteps walking by the office window, nor did she see a shadow. She was just focused on getting her emotions out at the moment and hoped to calm down enough to finish the night. So many thoughts ran through her mind, and she could not focus, so she just cried and cried. She grasped the pendent and held it tightly, feeling the need to protect it, even if it was not necessary.
"Saphira?" Saphira jumped and sat up straight, looking towards the door with wide eyes, to see Bonnie standing in the office. His gentle, soft voice was a surprise, compared to the deep voices she heard from Springtrap and Fredbear. She glanced around as she had left the crowbar in the bathroom. "It is okay, I am not going to hurt you." Saphira looked at Bonnie as his ears more to the sides of his head, looking at her sympathetically. "I don't want to hurt you." He walked closer to her and opened his arms towards her. "Come on, let it out."
Saphira stared at him, hesitating as she was not sure if this was a joke or not, before she stood up and stumbled closer and wrapped his arms around him. She felt his arms wrap around her gently as he held her close while she sobbed. She heard the heartbeat within Bonnie's chest, and it was surprisingly soothing now that she knew they were alive, even though what she had witnessed frightened her.
"There, there…I am terribly sorry for what just happened. I told Springtrap not to do it. I tried." Bonnie rubbed Saphira's back gently as he began to rock her, which startled her for a moment, but she did not move away from him. "Once those tears dry up a little bit, I think you and I should have a chat. It has been a long time since I saw you, young lady." Saphira did not respond, she just cried. Bonnie hummed softly as his ears droop more. "Somehow, I get the feeling no one has hugged you in a long time."
Bonnie certainly was not wrong. The gentleness coming from Bonnie was certainly not expected to Saphira. She did know that when she was younger, Bonnie was her favorite out of Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy when they arrived. She heard people say they think Bonnie's the creepiest of the gang, and some have had nightmares of him. Saphira never thought that. But she was never afraid of the animatronics until now.
Though she did remember how gentle Bonnie was a lot of the time when interacting with him. Maybe it was part of his nature. Or he simply adored Saphira so much. Right now, she felt like a child hugging a parent right now. And Bonnie had protected her before, even though she was not sure if the toy animatronics would have even wanted to hurt her as well. But as Bonnie protected her, she was grateful for his help.
Saphira began to calm down after ten minutes, though it was hard to really stop crying. Bonnie was extremely patient with her, and he kept rubbing her back and rocking her gently. Even though she was not a child anymore, it was soothing. But he was right. She has not had a proper hug from anyone in a long time. She has often had to find a pillow or a stuffed toy to hug to try and get comfort. But it was not the same. It really felt good to hug Bonnie again.
She did not know if he had eaten, but his hands and lips were clean, so he could have cleaned up before coming to the office. But Saphira was unlikely to ask straight away. She did not know if Bonnie would know the answers about their existence, given he was quite a bit older than the toy animatronics, phantom animatronics and Springtrap. But she knew that he may not know. But for now, she focused on calming down enough so she could speak with Bonnie. Especially as he was willing to talk and catch up. She hoped that it would be a good conversation.
