He watched her sleep as the sun started to rise. So much to say, to ask, to do, and while he knew she would be in paid, he wished she would wake. As the sun touched her face, she moved, and he prepared himself.
She moaned and turned her head back and forth, but her eyes did not open.
"Inuyasha," she moaned out.
Sesshomaru held her closer, he knew she was going freakout.
"Is it over?" She swallowed. "Is Naraku dead?"
"It is over; he is dead."
He watched as she sucked in air and froze. Her eyes fluttered open, but not all the way; the sun was bright, and her head hurt like hell. She blinked a few times, her eyes looking into his; he could see that she was trying to process who she was looking at.
"Sesshomaru?"
He inhaled. "It is I."
Tears formed in her eyes and fell down her cheek, and there was nothing he could do. She brought her hands up, covered her mouth, and cried out in agony; her body tensed; she couldn't care less that she was lying in his lap.
"No, no, Inuyasha," She cried, and he could do nothing but let her. But after a while, he could tell she was growing tired, sleepy, crying does that, plus her body was trying to heal. She sniffled, "Sango and, and Miroku and the others?" She managed to ask. Sesshomaru adjusted his sitting position. "Your friends and kit are well Miko, Rin and Jaken are with them."
Tears of joy followed her tears of sorrow.
Kagome tried to move,
"Be still, Miko, you are harmed."
She stilled a bit. "Are you hurt, too?" She asked, looking up at him. He looked back at her; even In her darkest hours, she was worried about others, him, a man who once tried to kill her.
"I am not harmed Miko,"
"Why are we here?"
"For peace, Miko,"
She closed her eyes, peace, that was something she did not know. As she lay there she listened to the quiet, another thing she wasn't used to, now she understood, but she didn't understand why he was giving it to her and she was even about to ask.
"We will return when you are ready, Miko."
Tears fell again; she didn't understand, she didn't care, she was tired, hurt, and afraid, afraid of what was to come next; sitting in Sesshomaru's lap was the least of her problems, so she just thanked him. "Thank you,"
Sesshomaru watched as she fell back to sleep. He relaxed, but in some ways he wished that she would have asked more questions, freaked out, something other than being calm, it was unlike her. He really hoped that the death of his brother would not dull her or change her because he liked her the way she was; she was unlike any other person on earth. He was not sure what to call her either; she was much more than a human and had more power than just a simple Miko.
His head rested against the tree and closed his eyes, but he would not sleep, he had way to much on his mind, one being the jewel he held, it never meant anything to him, till now.
It was a ticking time bomb and he didn't know how much time he had, but he knew it was not near enough time.
