"So the Prom was nice." Cordelia told Xander the next morning, before giving him a mild glare. "Even if you were late."
"The sweep took awhile and Buffy started having a hard time, she wanted to stay and help but she was breaking down. Turns out Giles was right, the Anointed One was a child. Buffy dusted him when he approached her. I took her home and left her in Mrs. Summers' care. I didn't want to spoil the Prom for you so I didn't mention it."
"Gods, isn't it bad enough that those things prey mostly on children and teenagers?! To turn a child. Children are innocent, an innocence we lose as we grow up. To deliberately corrupt innocence, they really are evil."
"Demons without conscious." Xander agreed. "So summer isn't far off." He said in a change of subject. "Jesse and I talked to Uncle Rory and we're going to work for him at the junkyard, for pay and a car, each, out of the junkyard that he's going to help us fix up. It should be good to go by the time school starts up again, which means I'll actually be able to pick you up for dates, for a change."
"Means I won't get to see you this summer anymore than I do during the school year. Less actually, since Dad and I are also going on vacation for most of June. But we can call each other every day." She brightened at that thought.
"On an even brighter note, it seems the apocalypse may have been canceled. At least we didn't run into any vampires calling themselves the Master last night."
"Which is good, because if he'd ruined my Prom, I'd have set him on fire."
"With the force of your glare alone."
"Damn right."
In the library Jenny was telling Giles pretty much the same thing, the apocalypse had been canceled, at least for now.
"Brother Luca sent out another global alert." She told him. "The Dark King will not walk and Hell will not scream, but beware the Dark Princess and her Knightly Poet, for they will seek the One Who Sees."
"The Dark King could refer to the Master." Giles considered the possibility. "He is the head of the Aurelius line and that could be considered the equivalent of a King."
"Which would make the Dark Princess someone of his line." Jenny pointed out. "And a Knight could be someone who guards a Princess."
"So potentially two new vampires, seeking a Seer of some sort."
"Unfortunately Brother Luca didn't say what they're seeking this Seer for. It could be anything and may have nothing to do with us or be anything we can do anything about." Jenny added.
"Are you able to get a hold of him?"
"No, he may use computers but he uses Magic to hide himself and I can't track him. So unless we hear from him again, he's a dead end as far as being an information source."
"I'll review my references and the Watchers Chronicles, perhaps I can find something that can give us a lead. Thank you for letting me know."
"No problem, English. If you decide you want a break from moldy old books you could always take me out for an actual sit down meal."
Giles looked startled and than smiled as he realized she making her interest in him known. It had been a awhile since he'd thought of exploring a connection with a woman. He'd been so dedicated to his duty, but as he considered the lovely, dark haired woman in front of him, he realized he too needed more in his life and like Buffy and the other children, he also needed someone who could provide true support, of the emotional kind.
"Would tomorrow night be too soon?" He asked.
Jenny smiled smugly, finally, the Watcher could be so dense. "Not at all."
"Then I will make arrangements and pick you up at seven?"
"Sounds good, I'll be ready." Thinking about the little black dress in the back of her closet that she hadn't had an occasion to wear for longer then she wanted to think about. Leaving the library, Jenny returned to her classroom, where she found an unpleasant surprise.
"Uncle Enyos, what are you doing here? And why didn't you call, I'd have picked you up at the airport."
"You failed to keep us informed on that creature, Janna."
"Angelus never came to Sunnydale, Uncle. Or if he did, than he was destroyed before I arrived because I have been unable to locate him."
"The Elder Woman's last vision showed his intent to come to this cursed town six months ago. Why would he change his mind?"
"He may not have. Sunnydale has protectors, Uncle. There's a community of Wesen living here and a family of Grimms. You're aware of what hides in Sunnydale."
"A Hellmouth, yes."
"Why didn't you warn me about it before sending me here?"
"It is irrelevant to your mission! Your purpose is to watch that creature, is it your belief that these Grimms or the Wesen they police are responsible for ending that creature?"
"Quite possibly. The Grimms actively hunt them here and in January, around the time the creature was known to be coming here, a Slayer also arrived. She could as easily have destroyed him as well."
"Very well, continue to watch in case he is merely hiding like the coward he is."
"Yes, Uncle."
"And do not forget, you are Janna of the Kalderash People, not Jenny Calendar."
"I have not forgotten who I am, Uncle, I promise you." Jenny shuddered as her uncle left. His intensity and rage at the vampire known as Angelus always made her so uncomfortable, but he had good reason to hate Angelus, after all Angelus had killed his great aunt when she was no older then the teenagers she taught.
A/N A reviewer commented on how Enyos couldn't have known the person Angelus was cursed for killing. This is weird, I know and it's one of those things on the show that never gets explained. But Jenny herself tells Buffy that she was raised by the people Angelus hurt the most, which suggests she was raised by that girl's family. So I'm guessing at how Enyos could be related to that girl.
