Three days had elapsed, and shortly thereafter, Voight was able to retrieve Erin from the hospital. She made sure to remind him about it, as he chuckled at her texts. 'You better not forget to pick me up, babe,' she wrote. Voight reassured her with a reply, 'I won't, don't worry.' Just then, Antonio knocked on the door.
'Come in, Tony,' Voight greeted, tucking his phone into his pocket and putting on his jacket as Antonio entered. 'Are you picking up Lindsay?' the second-in-command inquired. 'Of course,' Voight replied, a smile gracing his face.
Antonio proceeded to close the door and then said, 'There is something you need to know,' as he looked at Voight, who raised an eyebrow in curiosity. 'What's the matter?' Voight asked, intrigued. 'Roland escaped from prison on the day Erin was shot,' Antonio announced, a frown forming on his face as he noticed the concern on Voight's expression.
Voight inquired, as he rested his hands on the chair and gazed at Antonio, 'And I am just now learning about this? How long have you been aware?' Contemplating how to break the news to Erin about Roland's escape and her miscarriage without causing her additional distress as she was just recovering in the hospital was Voight's concern.
Antonio, with a sigh, responded, 'I only found out the day after Roland's escape,' he explained, regretting the delay in informing Voight so as not to add to his worries amongst other concerns.
Voight, giving Antonio a scrutinizing look, suspected he should have been informed earlier. Glancing at the clock and realizing it was nearly time to pick up Erin who was waiting, he questioned Antonio, 'When did you plan on informing me?"
'Before it was too late and he reached Erin?' Voight asked, surveying the room sternly, 'I hesitated to inform you as both you and Erin were already burdened with many pressing matters,' Antonio began to explain.
Voight gazed at Antonio with a stern expression, unwilling to hear any justifications. 'What explanation will I give Erin when she discovers that the man who kidnapped and assaulted her has managed to escape?' He questioned firmly, already knowing deep down that he should have eliminated Roland when he had the opportunity; and now, he may just do so, especially if Roland attempts anything.
Antonio released a heavy sigh, acknowledging his mistake, allowing Voight to reprimand him as he deserved, even if it was done to ensure their safety.
'I assure you, Voight, I have the situation under control. You can trust me,' Antonio began, engaging in eye contact with the older man. 'I am determined to locate and apprehend Roland; I simply wanted to spare Erin from excessive worry,' he explained.
Voight sighed and nodded in understanding. 'I comprehend your motives, Tony, but it would have been preferable if you had informed me so I could devise a plan to protect Erin,' he pointed out.
Antonio nodded as he observed Voight slipping on his coat. 'Let us table this discussion for now. I need to collect Erin,' he stated as he departed from the office without further discussion.
· Roland P.O.V *
Roland walked through the Med in a disguise as a new doctor, ensuring that he put on a wig to conceal his identity, even though nobody present would recognize him. Erin, however, was astute and would easily identify him. "Oh, you must be our new doctor," a young nurse greeted him with a smile.
"Yes, I'm Dr. Salvatore," Roland replied with a forced smile, extending his hand for a handshake. "Hi, I'm Dr. Natalie Manning," the brunette introduced herself with a smile.
Roland felt relieved that he had managed to create a fake identity, thanks to Kyra's assistance in hacking the hospital's computers, eventually leading Erin to be assigned to his shift for him to discharge her, as the former detective was eager to check on her well-being.
"Here are your patients for today," Natalie informed him, as she reviewed the schedule and was surprised to see Erin assigned to him, finding it odd given his status as a new doctor. However, she assumed that most of the others were occupied, so she did not question it until she noticed Will.
Roland accepted the clipboard with a smile and expressed his gratitude to Dr. Manning, flashing a wink before proceeding past her and encountering Torri and Maggie on his way to Erin's room.
'Who was that, Nat?' Maggie inquired as she observed Roland heading towards Erin's room, while Torri questioned in a suspicious tone, 'And why is he heading to Detective Lindsay's room?'
Natalie addressed the two by explaining, 'He's the new doctor, and I assumed Erin was on his schedule since she is his patient. Why?' She appeared concerned that she may have given him the wrong schedule.
· Erin P.O.V*
Erin, meanwhile, was changing into a set of jeans and a shirt delivered by Sarah, for which she expressed her gratitude to the young doctor with a smile.
The female detective placed the gown on the bed and proceeded to put on her underwear and bra, focusing on adjusting the bra straps when she heard the door open behind her. After fixing the bra, Erin struggled slightly while pulling up her jeans, biting her lip in the process.
Erin giggled as she felt a pair of hands running up and down her bare sides, remarking, 'Oh Hank, stop, that tickles.' She quickly added, 'We're in a hospital, dear; we can't engage in this kind of behavior here.' Her voice turned to a moan as a pair of lips kissed her neck.
She bit her lip, leaning into the embrace, and moaned again when his hands gripped her breasts and began to squeeze.
'That's it, my little detective,' he purred, snapping Erin out of her reverie. Despite feeling tempted to turn her head towards the man behind her, Erin was too stiff with fear to move.
'Roland…?' she breathed out, shocked to see him out of prison and at the hospital. Many questions raced through Erin's mind as Roland whispered into her ear, sending shivers down her spine.
'So you haven't forgotten about me; that's sweet,' Roland said, tightening his grip on her breasts. Erin swallowed hard, asking, 'How did-" She was interrupted as Roland placed kisses along her neckline. 'Are you wondering how I got out of prison?' he asked, grinding against her.
Erin was aware that she should resist him, but her body was immobilized by shock. 'My God, I missed touching your breasts,' Roland purred as his hand descended towards her jeans.
'I escaped from prison, my dear detective, just for you,' he proclaimed, nipping at her ear as he chuckled at having her under his control. The brunette bit her lip as Roland snuck his hand into her jeans.
'Damn it, Erin, snap out of it!' she yelled in her mind, shaking her head to clear her daze. After taking a deep breath, she moved her arm and forcefully thrust it into Roland's chest. Once he loosened his grip, she swiftly slammed her elbow into his face, causing him to stumble backwards.
'Ah, there we go, sweetheart,' Roland said with a smirk on his face. The brunette wondered why Voight was taking so long to arrive. As she attempted to run past him to escape, Roland seized her and forcefully pinned her against the wall, causing her to hit her head.
Erin attempted to call for assistance, but Roland silenced her by covering her mouth and nose, stating, 'No, you don't, my dear detective.' Despite her efforts to resist, she managed to land a few strikes on his chest. 'I will only say this once,' he declared while licking her neck.
'I will find you again, but in the meantime, keep our encounter to yourself or I will harm your boyfriend,' Roland threatened, causing Erin's hazel eyes to widen in fear for Voight's safety. As he restricted her breathing, Roland inquired if she wished to experience further distress, to which Erin emphatically shook her head.
'Very well, pretend none of this happened, sign these documents to absolve yourself, as I believe your partner is on his way,' Roland instructed, concluding with a scornful chuckle as Erin bit his lip.
Roland moved away from Erin after placing a kiss on her lips, stating, 'You'll be mine soon enough, baby girl.' He turned away, wiping the blood from his lip, while Erin hastily put on her shirt to compose herself.
She observed Roland leaving her room dressed as a doctor, pondering how he had managed to bypass the front desk and become her doctor. Despite her concerns, the warning about killing Voight lingered in her mind, preventing her from disclosing the encounter.
The door opened once more, surprising Erin as Voight entered, inquiring, 'Hey Erin, are you ready to go?' Erin struggled to maintain her composure as she bit her lip and acted as though everything was normal.
Erin expressed that it was impolite to keep a lady waiting as she smiled and embraced Voight, burying her face in his chest. Voight could sense something was amiss and inquired if Erin was okay.
Despite knowing that Roland had escaped, Erin could not bring herself to reveal this truth to Voight, so she simply stated that everything was fine and she was relieved to be leaving.
Voight, with a sense of unease, kissed her head, collected her things, and escorted her out of the room, sensing that Erin was concealing something from him, but deciding to address it later, once they were back at home.
