(Calliope - POV)

We returned to the boardwalk the following night. I headed back to the convenience store again for any leftovers they would have. It was the same nice lady from the previous night. She had a large box of leftovers and had made up some snacks and drinks that were a day away from expiring. I had brought Laddie with me, and she had given him a bearclaw pastry to eat. She gushed all over Laddie. We thanked her and left the store meeting the others at the tables to eat. Well, we met Star at the tables. The others had gone to get some blood.

Laddie was a chatterbox about the store and told Star about all the goodies we acquired as I laid them out. We had a couple burgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders, potato logs, biscuits, and pizza. Then the lady had given us some Swiss Rolls, Honey Buns, and a few bottles of soda. Star looked at the food hungrily. I heard her stomach growl and she blushed and grabbed a hot dog. We ate our fill and put the leftovers in my backpack.

We heard a saxophone blaring at the beach. Star grinned and told me it was time for the battle of the bands. We rushed to find a good place to see the acts. Laddie just stood and watched while Star and I danced together to the music. Man, he was talented. Star grabbed my hand and we twirled together and swayed. Then stood arms linked around each other when she froze. Star looked over and I followed her gaze. There he was! The teen boy that I had seen when I had looked for her freedom. It was beginning to be set in motion, I had to play this carefully or everything will go the way my visions showed.

"Let's go." I whispered to her.

She nodded and grabbed Laddie's hand. We left the concert and wandered through the stalls. I saw David waving at me, standing in front of VideoMax.

"I'll be back, ok. Stay safe." I told her.

Star nodded and looked at some trinkets. Laddie looked at them with her. I went to David, and we all entered the video store. The girl at the counter was giving Paul goo-goo eyes. I rolled mine.

"Excuse me." a woman's voice said, "This little boy is lost, do you know if his mother is in here?"

We watched the interaction between the man David had told me was Max and a red headed woman. The little boy's mom suddenly came in and sighed heavily with relief. Max gave the boy a lollipop and the mother and son left the store. We watched as Max gave Lucy a lollipop and a job. The dog growled garnering Max's attention towards us. He looked to say something then he saw me amongst the guys. He bid Lucy good evening and she left. He waved us to his office.

We entered and he shut the door. I sat in a seat that was available and they all gathered behind me as Max sat in his desk chair. Max sighed then looked at me then at David.

"Who are you young Lady?" he asked me.

"I'm Calliope." I spoke.

"Why is she here?" I saw him look to David.

David squeezed my shoulder. Max noticed. He grinned then chuckled. He laughed a good bit before he spoke again. I did not see anything humorous.

"You have Star. Why should there be another?" he asked, "You can't even control Star."

I suddenly reached forward and snatched Max's hand. I was incensed by his attitude. I focused in on him and I could see. I watched his demise. He would never have his mate. He would never have his dream. I turned the looking off and gave him a feral smile.

"You will die. You will never have that picket fence dream you so long to have. Lucy would never be yours. Will never be yours; her sons will not allow it. You will die at the combined hands of her father and her eldest son." I spoke.

Max stood violently, smashing his chair into the wall. He reached over the desk and snatched me up by the collar of my t-shirt. The reaction was instantaneous. My boys converged on him. That surprised him that the sire compulsion did not stop him from laying hands on him. He knew. The mate bond could overcome the sire compulsion.

"Hands off." My voice was strong, "Now. Are you going to behave and learn or be a fucking shithead?"

I had zero respect for him and after the way he had reacted towards me I would never have respect for him. In fact, I wished to stake him now. Actually, that was not a bad idea. I had only thought to give him a chance after watching him with Lucy. She deserved happiness at the very least. But now I'm on the fence on his fate. Hmmm, we will have to see.

"Never mind my darlings. Change of plans." I announced to them as Max released me, "You will regret touching me."

I motioned for them to follow me. I waited for them to file out of his office and looked back to Max. I flipped him off and slammed his office door. I walked to my guys and looked to the cashier who was once again giving Paul the eyes. I moved to Paul and grabbed his hand.

"Come on babes, let's go." I said and gave her a very pointed look.

They followed me out and we came out in front of Star and Laddie. The boys walked to the bikes at the entrance. I looked over and saw that the boys from my visions was close behind Star and Laddie. I rushed over to Star and threw my arm over her shoulder.

"Hey sis!" I said and made eye contact with the elder boy, "Let's go home."

I needed to keep him at a distance just a bit. I needed him to come into our fold naturally, not forcibly. We needed him to fold in and be friends. Fall for Star and her him, not out of desperation. I noticed they slunk back just a bit as we closed in on the bikes. I helped Laddie get behind Dwayne. I whispered to David to let Star ride behind him, and he nodded. Star got on behind him and David looked at Michael with a smirk. I got on behind Marko, leaning forward giving him a kiss. He gripped my knee and looked to Michael as he started his bike. I waved at Michael as we took off.

(Max- POV)

My mind was running a million miles a second. That encounter with the young lady my boys had brought in the store has left me distraught. I could feel the power in her. She saw what I have never wished to hear. My death. My mates' children and father would kill me. What could be done? Could anything be done? My Lucy would never be mine according to the girl. The girl my boys had brought to me. She was more than Star ever was to them. She was a mate to them.

As much as I would like to get rid of the girl to keep my control over the ones I sired; I could not do it. She had information that I needed. She could see the future and I needed that. I had to think long and hard about what to do now. This girl was useful, and I needed to find a way to get her on my side. I couldn't frighten her; she knew that she held the cards. I needed to go about this a different way. But how?

A knock came to my office door. Maria, my employee popped her head in.

"Hey Max, I know its late, but the new shipment just got here." she said.

"Ahh, I'm coming. Thank you." I said with my trademark smile.

"You're welcome." she said and smiled back.

I stood and eft the office to deal with the new shipment, my thoughts on temporary pause about what to do with the whole situation.
