"You hold a special place in Kendall's heart. He simply hopes you embody good manners and positive influence," James remarks.
"I've got that covered. No need to fret," Katie replies. "Let's tackle our homework. I need Logan's expertise on a tricky math assignment."
They make their way inside to Apartment 2J, where Logan is engrossed in a sudoku puzzle on the couch.
"Logan, come back to reality," James calls out.
"Sorry, what's up?" Logan responds, snapping out of his concentration.
"Katie needs help with her math. And everything's all good between us now," James explains.
"Great. What's giving you trouble with your math assignment, Katie?" Logan inquires.
"It's demicals. Miss Collins threw us a curveball with a new lesson on depicals and I'm lost," Katie admits.
"D-e-c-i-m-a-l-s. That's the word you're looking for, Katie," Logan corrects gently.
"Yes, I'm completely lost on this assignment. Please help me out if you're up for it," Katie requests.
"I'll give you a hand. My headache has improved greatly since this morning, and my shoulder ache is barely noticeable now. Let's head to the table and dive in," Logan declared, rising and leading the way. They settled in next to each other and examined the math assignment. "Are you familiar with using decimals on a calculator?"
"No, I got confused when Miss Collins demonstrated it. I pressed all the right buttons but still got the answer wrong for the example problem she gave us to solve. I really struggle with math. Sorry, Logan, I know you don't want to hear that," Katie admitted.
"Don't worry, I'm not upset. It's okay that you don't enjoy math as much as I do. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. I'm always here to support you and help you through it," Logan reassured.
"Multiply this math assignment with percentages and decimals, and my head feels like it's caught in a whirlwind," Katie exclaimed.
"Little did I know, I'd revisit this complexity from my 5th-grade days. Elementary math sure had its moments," Logan reminisced.
"Come on - you're in high school now. With all your experience, this should be a breeze," Katie urged.
"Absolutely, I'll give it my all to guide you through," Logan reassured.
Later that evening, as they gathered around the dinner table...
"Logan, now that you're feeling better, I think it's the perfect time for me to schedule your physical therapy appointments," Ms. Knight suggests.
"That's a great idea, Ms. Knight. I really want to work on improving the mobility of my shoulder," Logan agrees.
"Wonderful. I've already spoken to your parents about it, and they're on board. But there are still some details we need to discuss," Ms. Knight explains.
"Like what?" Logan inquires.
"We need to figure out the schedule, how many days a week you'll go, the duration of each session, and whether you should see a pediatric or adult physical therapist," Ms. Knight elaborates.
"I think I still qualify for the pediatric one, but it wouldn't hurt to benefit from the expertise of an adult therapist as well. Although, my mom will probably lean towards the pediatric option because she doesn't want me to grow up," Logan shares, a hint of amusement in his voice.
"More like her sweet little LogieBear," James interjects, unable to resist teasing Logan. He chuckles, knowing that nickname always gets under his skin. Logan shoots him a disapproving look.
"Can't we just have one normal dinner, please?" Kendall sighs, clearly exasperated. "James, you know Logan doesn't like that name. It's practically forbidden."
"I know, but it's funny to see his reaction," James defends himself, rubbing his arm after Logan playfully punches him.
"Ow! Okay, okay, it's not funny," James concedes.
"Good. Then don't call me LogieBear again," Logan asserts, returning to his spaghetti with a determined expression.
Soon, the nightfall blankets the world in a serene slumber. As the first rays of Wednesday morning grace the horizon, Logan emerges from his chambers, joining Katie and the other boys in the opulent lobby.
"My dear Logan, it is quite an uncommon sight to behold you here," Camille remarks, her voice filled with anticipation. "Are you gracing us with your presence at school today?"
Regrettably, Logan shakes his head. "Not today, Cami. I apologize. I find myself in the company of Ms. Knight, who shall accompany me to my physical therapy consultation appointment. We shall determine the duration required for my shoulder rehabilitation. It is of utmost importance that I arrive punctually. Hence, as soon as Ms. Knight descends, we shall embark on our journey," Logan explains with a hint of disappointment.
"You possess an extraordinary allure of metal luscion, Logan," Carlos interjects, his voice filled with admiration.
Camille, perplexed, seeks clarification. "What do you mean, Carlos?"
Logan, equally bewildered, echoes her sentiment. "What is it that you speak of, Carlos?"
Carlos, attempting to elucidate his statement, repeats, "Metal luscious."
Camille and Logan exchange confused glances, unable to comprehend Carlos' words. Kendall, seeking clarity, inquires, "What is Carlos trying to convey?"
"I am uncertain," James admits.
Katie, always quick-witted, chimes in, "Perhaps it is a term of Carlos' own creation."
Carlos, frustrated by the lack of understanding, laments, "I did not invent it. This word already exists."
Logan, attempting to decipher Carlos' intended word, proposes, "Carlos, were you attempting to say 'meticulous'?"
Relieved, Carlos nods. "Yes, that is precisely what I meant."
Logan, slightly exasperated, questions Carlos' commitment to self-improvement. "Carlos, what purpose does it serve for me to gift you that advanced dictionary if you do not peruse its contents? You expressed a desire to enhance your vocabulary and grammar, yet it seems you have neglected to delve into its pages. Have you not read the book at all?"
Carlos, sheepishly, admits his shortcomings. "I do read it, just perhaps not as diligently as I ought to. I apologize."
Logan sighs, contemplating a solution. "Fear not, my dear friend. I have devised a plan that shall aid you immensely. I shall reveal it to you."
Upon entering the physical therapy facility, Ms. Knight and Logan are greeted with a bustling scene of patients diligently working with their therapists.
"Wow, this place is buzzing with activity and it looks so sleek. The equipment here seems top-notch," Logan remarks.
"Indeed it is," a man clad in professional gym attire chimes in, approaching them. "Hello, I'm Jordan Alvarez. I will be overseeing your consultation today. Your physical therapist will be Callie. She is highly esteemed among our patients for her warm demeanor and expertise in the field. Callie is empathetic, patient, and dedicated to helping her patients reach their goals. She takes the time to understand their limits, while also encouraging them to push beyond them. You'll get along well with her, especially since she has a knack for working with kids and teens."
"Sounds great, where can we find her?" Logan asks eagerly.
"She made her way to the gym area to refill her water bottle, a hint of anticipation in the air. Jordan nodded, a smile playing at the corners of his lips. "She'll be back soon," he assured, just before spotting her approaching. "Callie, please come meet your newest patient."
A young woman with a medium height and a toned physique, her blonde hair and blue eyes gleaming, stepped forward. "Hello, I'm Callie. It's a pleasure to meet you," she greeted with a warm smile.
Logan returned the greeting. "Nice to meet you, Callie. I'm Logan."
Callie's eyes lit up. "I recognize you. I'm a huge fan of Big Time Rush. Your music always keeps me motivated at the gym. Do you enjoy working out too?"
Logan chuckled. "Not particularly. Aside from hockey, skateboarding, and swimming, I'm not much of a fitness enthusiast."
"Hey, that's okay. Not everyone is into leading an active lifestyle," Callie replied understandingly.
"Please, step into my office where we can converse without the cacophony of the outside world." Jordan invites. They enter a grand chamber as he shuts the door to muffle the chatter and clatter. "Logan, I have received the x-rays from the esteemed Los Angeles children's hospital regarding your dislocated shoulder. The details of your unfortunate incident have reached my ears. It's truly distressing how vicious that assault was."
"Indeed, it is a harrowing memory that I try to push aside," Logan admits.
"I completely comprehend. My apologies for bringing it up, but it is a necessary part of our discussion. How has the shoulder sling been treating you?" Jordan inquires.
"It's quite cumbersome and makes dressing a challenge. I remove it briefly for showers and dressing. I rely on my prescribed pain medication daily, yet the discomfort persists," Logan explains.
"Has the sling impacted your sleep? Do you experience pain while at rest?" Jordan probes.
"At times, but I have developed various techniques to aid in relaxation and ensure a restful slumber. I indulge in calming music, aromatherapy, a sleep mask, and a weighted blanket. These methods prove effective for me. Additionally, I engage in meditation and yoga," Logan reveals.
"Remarkably resourceful," Jordan commends.
"Thank you," Logan murmurs.
"Time to get those shoulder muscles in tip-top shape. They may be weak from the injury, but we'll make them stronger," Callie explains.
"Your kindness means the world to me, Callie. It's refreshing to be treated like a regular person, not just a teenage celebrity. I truly appreciate it," Logan expresses.
"Don't worry, Logan. We have plenty of famous clients here, and I'm just happy to help you on your journey to recovery. Special treatment isn't necessary - we just want your shoulder back to normal," Callie reassures.
"Absolutely, Callie. Perhaps during your downtime, you could pay a visit to me at the Palm Woods. It would give you a chance to connect with your patients outside of the office," Logan suggests.
"I'm definitely looking forward to it. I can't wait to explore the Palm Woods, meet the other members of BTR, and witness your luxurious lifestyle firsthand. According to the PopTiger magazines I've been reading, the Palm Woods pool is truly spectacular," Callie remarks.
"It's pretty great. While it might not have a fancy slide or diving board, it's still a lot of fun to swim in," Logan confirms.
"You know, I have a friend who resides at the Palm Woods. She mentioned that the manager, Mr. Bitters, can be quite a challenge to deal with. Apparently, he's not the friendliest and can be quite rude," Callie mentions as she begins the exercise of gently rotating Logan's shoulder.
"He's a real pain, honestly. All he cares about is money, money, money. He's self-centered, conceited, and even went as far as fat shaming Tyler, Katie's best friend," Logan adds with disapproval.
"Wait, so Katie is Kendall's biological sister, but you three treat her like family too?" Callie inquires, intrigued.
"Yes, that's right. Katie and Tyler are like two peas in a pod. They're always together, laughing and playing. It warms my heart to see them so happy in each other's company. Sometimes I'll catch them in fits of laughter in Katie's room, rolling around on the floor, tears streaming down their faces. I have no idea what's so funny, but I guess it's a ten-year-old thing," Logan explains.
"That's adorable, but it breaks my heart that Mr. Bitters is so hard on Tyler about his weight," Callie laments.
"That's the truth. Mr. Bitters, out of shape as he is, dares to shame a child for their size without a hint of apology to Tyler," Logan laments, wincing as Callie works on his sore shoulder.
"Sorry for the discomfort. It's all part of the healing process," Callie reassures. "Mr. Bitters really owes Tyler an apology."
"But even if he does, it won't be sincere. He clearly has no love for kids," Logan responds.
"Let me get this straight. Mr. Bitters willingly took a job at the Palm Woods, knowing it's primarily a residence for kids and teens, yet instead of finding a more suitable position, he chooses to mistreat everyone for his own amusement? It's downright appalling," Callie remarks.
"I know, right? He should just quit, but his precious income is all he truly values. That's the only reason he sticks around," Logan concludes.
"I believe Mr. Bitters will soon face his comeuppance for his deplorable behavior towards the residents he oversees," Callie remarks.
"I couldn't agree more. What's the name of your friend who resides at the Palm Woods? Perhaps I've crossed paths with her," Logan inquires.
"She's a talented actress with flowing blonde locks and a passion for fashion. I affectionately refer to her as Jenny," Callie reveals.
"Is her full name Jennifer?" Logan probes.
"Yes, do you know her?" Callie inquires.
"I know her all too well," Logan responds, his expression somber.
"What's the matter? Aren't you two friends?" Callie presses.
"Friend? More like a frenemy. She's one of the three Jennifers at the Palm Woods. And that doesn't even include Ms. Knight, who is also named Jennifer and is a wonderful woman," Logan explains.
"Aw, thanks my dear," Ms. Knight replies.
"You're welcome. But listen, Callie, the trio of Jennifers are not as sweet as they seem. They're self-centered teen girls who couldn't care less about anyone else, especially the younger kids at the Palm Woods like Katie and Tyler," Logan explains.
"That's hard to believe. The Jennifer I know is always so kind and caring," Callie protests.
"I'm not making this up. I'm just telling you the truth," Logan insists.
"I trust you, but it's just surprising to hear because I've never witnessed that side of her before," Callie replies.
"Upon visiting the Palm Woods, her true colors will shine through," Logan declares.
Following the physical therapy consultation, Ms. Knight collaborates with Jordan and Callie to establish Logan's schedule. He will attend hour-long sessions three days a week for the remainder of the year.
Later that evening at Apartment 2J, Camille pays Logan a visit.
"How did the physical therapy consultation go?" she inquires.
"Fantastic! I met a charming young man named Jordan Alvarez, who appears to be the supervisor there. He oversaw the consultation. Additionally, the physical therapist I worked with was a delightful young lady named Callie," Logan shares.
"Your physical therapist is a woman?" Camille questions.
"Yes, she's incredibly kind," Logan responds.
"Do you find her attractive?" Camille probes.
"What?" Logan exclaims in surprise.
"Here we go with the jealousy," Kendall interjects.
"I'm not jealous. I'm simply asking a question," Camille defends.
"No, you're jealous. I mention that my physical therapist is a woman, and your immediate concern is whether I find her attractive. What am I supposed to say? That she's unattractive and off-putting? I already mentioned that she's very kind. Naturally, I think she's beautiful. Why wouldn't I? Do you truly believe that I can only be interested in you? I had no idea my physical therapist would be a woman. Callie happens to be a Big Time Rush fan," Logan explains.
"She's not to be trusted, darling. She's only after you because of your fame," Camille whispers.
Logan's eyes narrow as he defends his newfound friend. "You've got it all wrong. She's different. She's seen it all - celebrities of all kinds at that rehab center. She's just genuinely kind, and I invited her here to hang out. She even knows Jennifer, the one with the blonde hair. She's never seen Jennifer be anything but nice. If you're going to keep judging someone you haven't even met, Callie, maybe it's best you leave. Don't assume she's only with me because of my fame."
"Logan, I'm just trying to be careful and watch out for you," Camille explains.
"But how is judging a girl you've never even met, just because she's helping me with my shoulder, looking out for me?" Logan questions. "I never get jealous of your male co-stars on Witches of Rowdale Drive. It's okay if you hang out with them. The only issue arises if they start flirting with you. But you've always assured me that your relationships with your male co-stars are purely platonic, and I trust you. So why is it a problem when I have a female physical therapist?"
"And the drama continues," Kendall interjects.
"Kenny, do you really have to comment every few seconds? Don't you have homework or a test to study for?" Logan responds, clearly annoyed.
"I'm just here to support you morally. I don't want to cause any problems. I've already finished my homework. Every time you and Camille have a disagreement, it turns into a full-blown argument and you two end up breaking up temporarily. I'm here to prevent that from happening," Kendall explains.
"Thanks, dude, but this is my issue, not yours. You don't have to get involved," Logan insists.
