Chapter 3

--

Not far from the Kong village, deep within the mines of Kongo Bongo Island, kremlings were hard a work. They were building all types of machines and other random stuff that they didn't really need. King K Rool walked through his new lair. Ever since Crocodile Isle had sunk, the kremlings had been having a hard time finding a new home.

They had sailed to many different islands but soon enough, they just settled on Kongo Bongo, deep within the mines. Even though it was a downgrade from the keep, it had some benefits. And these benefits included the mine carts. The kremlings would often use the mine carts for transport, using them to transport objects and themselves all over the island. The network of tracks crisscrossed the entire area, making the mine carts an essential part of their daily operations and a key factor in maintaining their efficiency and mobility.

King K Rool wandered through the halls, watching as kremlings worked hard for him. He knew this was only temporary. Soon, he would take over the island and then, he could make a whole new palace and finally have an island for his own. The thought of ruling unchallenged filled him with glee. His subjects would not only respect him but also fear his might.

His mind buzzed with plans for the conquest. The vaults would be filled with treasure, the landscapes sculpted to his desires, and every corner of the island would echo with his name. He imagined vast statues of himself standing tall in every village, an eternal reminder of his dominion.

As he walked, he couldn't help but smirk, envisioning the downfall of those who dared oppose him. The Kongs, in particular, would face his wrath. No longer would they thwart his plans. No longer would they undermine his authority. This time, victory would be his, and the island would tremble under his rule.

Suddenly, his thoughts were interrupted by someone calling his name. "King K Rool, sir!" Klump called, rushing up to the massive reptile. King K Rool scowled in annoyance. "What is it, Klump? You've interrupted my thoughts about ambushing the Kongs!" K Rool hissed. Klump shifted uneasily. "Well I... I just thought I'd show you what I created..."

Klump pulled out something that looked like a drone. It had a camera on it and two circular wings. "What is this?" King K Rool asked, his frustration growing. "It's a spy device!" Klump exclaimed. "We can use it to spy on the Kongs, sir!" King K Rool rolled his eyes. "And how do you expect me to use this thing?" He queried. "Don't worry, sir! It's not very complicated. Should be a piece of cake!" Klump explained.

Just then Krusha, the strongest and dumbest kremling of all, walked into the room. "Who's getting cake?" He asked. K Rool wanted to slap him but decided to resist the urge. "If I try out your stupid 'spy device' will you leave me alone?" He said. Klump smiled. "Yes sir!" "Good. Then give me the thing."

K Rool put out his hand and Klump placed the drone in it. He also gave K Rool an iPad that showed what the camera could see. King K Rool flew the drone up, High enough for the camera to be directly pointed at Krusha's face. Then, Krusha's face appeared on the screen. "Oh look, it's me!" Krusha exclaimed excitedly. This time K Rool couldn't resist the urge and slapped the stupid kremling in the face. Klump just laughed awkwardly.

"Alright, now how does this thing work?" K Rool inquired. "You just push these buttons to move it and this one to move the camera!" Klump explained, pointing at the buttons on the remote. "I swear to god Klump, if this thing breaks or something and turns out to be useless, I'm going to slap you so hard that you go flying to Jupiter." K Rool growled. Klump let out a loud, very awkward laugh. "Haha... that's a good one, your majesty..." Klump said, although he had a feeling the king was not joking at all.

The drone flew through the jungle, its propellers humming softly as it weaved between the towering trees. Below, a lush green canopy stretched out endlessly, punctuated by flashes of vibrant flowers and the occasional glimpse of wildlife darting through the foliage. The drone's camera captured the scene with precision, recording every detail of the dense wilderness below.

"Look at the pretty flowers!" Krusha pointed at the flowers on the screen of the iPad. "We're not flying this for flowers, Krusha! We're looking for the Kongs!" K Rool snapped. "Well, can't you just admire the beauty of the jungle for a minute?" Klump asked. King K Rool sighed with frustration. "I'm surrounded by idiots."

As the drone ventured deeper into the heart of the jungle, the sounds of nature enveloped the drone—chirping birds, rustling leaves, and the distant roar of unseen creatures. Despite its mechanical nature, the drone seemed to blend seamlessly into its surroundings, becoming just another inhabitant of this verdant realm. Occasionally, shafts of sunlight pierced through the thick canopy, casting dappled patterns on the forest floor below. The drone maneuvered effortlessly around these patches of light, its sensors adjusting to the changing brightness.

High above, the sky stretched out in a brilliant blue expanse, offering a stark contrast to the shadowy depths of the jungle below. But then, huts and cabins started to appear in the distance. The drone had reached the village. It soared through the air, making its way closer to the ground to spy on the Kongs. Meanwhile back in the mines, King K Rool, Klump and Krusha were still observing from the screen of the iPad. K Rool lowered the drone to 2 Kongs talking. "So what happened with you and Tiffany?" One of them said. "She cheated on me with that jerk, Hanky!" The other said. "Gee, guess no girls are really into you." The first one laughed. K Rool started to move the drone away. "Wait! I wanted to hear what happened next!" Klump exclaimed.

"Me two." Krusha added. King K Rool stamped his foot onto Klump's foot. The general yelped in pain. "Remember why you made this thing in the first place, Klump." K Rool hissed. He then started to move the drone again. Soon enough, he could see Cranky Kong's cabin on the screen. That's when he realised something shimmering from the inside of the hut. "Hm. Let's have a closer look." K Rool said, focused on what he was doing. He moved the drone close to the window. He could see a majestic looking crystal, in the shape of a coconut. He heard Donkey Kong from inside. "But why is it so bad if a villain gets it?" He heard the ape say. "Didn't you listen to what I said!? That crystal holds ultimate power! If any villain gets that crystal they could take over our island! And we wouldn't be able to stop them." Cranky Kong said.

King K Rool blinked. He was trying to absorb the meaning of what Cranky had just said. "Take over our island...? Gets that crystal...?" He repeated. "If a villain gets it..." Klump said, with a puzzled look on his face. "Didn't you just listen to what I said!?" Krusha said. King K Rool and Klump looked at him as if he had just started pooping rainbows. "What? I thought we were playing the 'copy what the Kongs said' game." Krusha remarked. "What? That's not even... you know what? Never mind." K Rool grumbled.

The evil kremling king paced around the room for a while. "If what Cranky is saying is true, and I get that crystal, I could take over the island!" King K Rool exclaimed. "Yeah but... how will you get it?" Klump asked. "Oh I'll find a way." K Rool stated. "And when I do... no one will be able to stop me." K Rool let out an evil laugh. "Come on Klump! We are going to Cranky Kong's cabin! I need that crystal!"
