It took him too long despite the distance but Ryoga finally arrived at the inn he saw a long line of people.
Ryoga entered the inn, inspecting the inn from top to bottom. That's odd, he thought. Ryoga could've sworn the inn he saw was smaller and simpler than this. He looked around, unsure of where he just stepped into. This inn looks expensive and decorated luxuriously. It has a grandiose feeling despite its traditional set-up.
'I should find a cheaper one…' he turned to walk out but immediately stopped when a voice called out from behind.
"Welcome, may I help you?" a voice appeared and Ryoga turned around to see a familiar face.
"Y-you're the woman from the park!" Ryoga points, his jaw nearly dropped.
"And you're the little lost boy who went the wrong way," Haruko said, amused.
Despite the distance, it took Ryoga a long time to reach the inn he had spotted from afar. As he finally arrived, he could see a long line of people waiting to enter.
With weary steps, Ryoga made his way into the inn, taking in everything with keen eyes. However, something seemed off. He could have sworn that the inn he saw from the outside was much smaller and simpler than this. The interior was lavish and exquisitely decorated, giving off an air of grandeur despite its traditional setup.
"I should find a cheaper place to stay," Ryoga muttered to himself.
Feeling out of place and out of budget, Ryoga turned to leave but was stopped by a voice behind him.
"Welcome, may I help you?" a familiar voice called out, causing Ryoga to turn around in surprise.
"You're the woman from the park!" he exclaimed, pointing a finger at her with wide eyes.
"And you're the little lost boy who went the wrong way," Haruko replied with a hint of amusement in her voice.
Ryoga blushed at being caught and defended himself, "Hey lady, you told me to go there!"
"I told you to go left, not right," Haruko corrected with a smile.
"So, Mr…?" Haruko trailed off, looking at him curiously.
"Ryoga, Ryoga Hibiki." He replied with a slight blush creeping into his cheeks.
Well then, Mr. Hibiki," Haruko said with a smile, "Do you have a reservation?
"No, I just needed a place to stay," Ryoga replied. "But I don't think I can afford this place so I won't waste your time."
Haruko took in Ryoga's appearance yellow sleeveless shirt looked unwashed and his trousers caked with mud. The only thing that seemed untouched was his bandanna around his head. She couldn't help but feel sorry him.
"You're in luck, there happens to be an available room!"
Ryoga stopped in his tracks, turned to Haruko and said, "No thanks, this place is too much for me. I'll set up a tent somewhere just fine."
Haruko was taken aback and quickly responded, "Wait! I'll take whatever you have," as she flashed a reassuring smile at him.
Ryoga's eyes widened in disbelief. "No way, you're joking! I couldn't possibly afford a place like this." He reached into his pocket and pulled out 100 yen and two plastic wrappers, the only things he had left. Haruko's heart sank at the sight, wondering how this young man could survive with so little.
"Thank you," she said sincerely as she took the money and placed it in the till.
"Here's your key and room number," Haruko said as she handed Ryoga a small silver key with the number 905 engraved on it. "And your room is right next to the onsen, so feel free to use it whenever you'd like." She bowed lightly.
Tears of gratitude welled up in Ryoga's eyes as he looked down at the key in his hand. He felt overwhelmed by the act of kindness and luck that had come his way. It was moments like these that made him believe that maybe the universe was finally giving him some good fortune.
"Excuse me, are you alright?" Haruko asked, noticing his emotional state.
Ryoga nodded and quickly wiped away his tears. "Could you please show me to my room? I don't want to get lost."
Haruko's surprise melted into a soft expression. "Of course, right this way Mr. Hibiki."
