I've been gone for a long time, (It's been two years and ten days since this fic got updated). I'm really less in the wizarding world fandom. I never really liked fanfics of others here and I feel like my fanfics are too niche for this fandom. It just got me frustrated and I found myself writing for other fandoms instead and my desire to write about the Wizarding World decreased. It doesn't mean I abandoned this fic or any other fic I'm planning for this world, it just means I write really less so don't expect any updates. I hope this chapter feel like the rest of the fanfic and not completely different because I was really rusty in writing for this fandom and I was never good at writing shipping.
'I have an interesting idea. We need to be in a power position eventually, if we want our plan to work. We can't only be rebels.' Gellert told Albus. They were in the library as always, Albus on the couch and Gellert on the armchair.
'You want to become a minister?' Albus chuckled.
'Well no, though you could do this, my aunt said to me once you can be a great minister one day.' Gellert smirked.
'It flatters me that she thinks that, but I think we are a little ahead of ourselves.' Albus chuckled.
'You have the skills, you are a great person, you could influence a lot as minister even as a young one. Think, after the oldest minister in the British history there will be the youngest, you.' Gellert told his partner.
'I'll lead the world with you, it would be a much higher role than being a minister.' Albus said.
'Yes, I know that, I'm talking until then, we need to have influence on the world, that is how we will find followers for our cause.' Gellert mentioned.
'So, what do you have in mind?' Albus wondered, he realised Gellert was trying to get somewhere.
'The Supreme Mugwump.' Gellert stated with a wide smile.
'You want to be the Supreme Mugwump?!' Albus asked, surprised.
'Yes, that's how the whole world will listen to us, we can make it our agenda and let people vote for that, so they'll be more invested in our cause.' Gellert offered.
'You think the Qilin will choose you?" Albus wondered honestly.
'I want to save the world. Doesn't that mean I have a pure heart?' Gellert raised an eyebrow.
'Not when you want to kill and use some guy skeleton for your visions.' Albus stated.
'You might have a point. But I'm sure the Qilin will choose you, so you could be the chosen one and you can give me the job or you could represent our cause as our candidate.' Gellert offered.
'That's not a bad plan.' Albus mumbled.
'Don't you want to be the face of our cause? Because I think you need to be.' Albus stated.
'I'm flattered Albus thank you, but I'm not doing this alone, we are together in this, you're not avoiding me or anything. We'll rise together and if we'll fall, we'll fall together.' Gellert grabbed Albus' hands.
'I know, and we're not going to fall, but I don't want our child to stop us in the way, we needs to recruit followers and we need to start build our new world, but someone will need to keep on him, so I'll raise our child in the backgrounds and you'll be upfront.' Albus explained.
'No, we raise them together, you waste two months of your life for the mandatory duties of your family, this is not your job, we are doing everything together, I can't let you fade away inside. You need to be out there and see the world. I know you dreamt about that.' Gellert stated.
'Yes, I'm glad I met you, it's nice to have someone who cares about me.' Albus lowered his head.
'And you'll never be alone again.' Gellert kissed Albus forehead.
'I don't know what I would have done without you.' Albus smiled.
'You would have become an ordinary man instead of extraordinary and it would have been a shame.' Gellert told him, holding his lover's hand.
'I'm glad you saved me from mundane life in Godric's Hollow, it would have been intolerable to spend more time there.' Albus said.
'I'm always here to save you from every distress or misery in your life, remember this,' Gellert smiled softly and kissed Albus' hand.
'You are a charming man, Gellert. If you are in that romantic mood maybe it's time to start talking about names for our son?' Albus smirked.
'Son? Why do you think it is necessarily a boy? It has your sister's Obscurus after all, so I have the logic to guess it could be a girl.' Gellert muttered.
'He was a boy in my dream.' Albus shrugged.
'You do remember I'm the seer here, right?' Gellert raised an eyebrow.
'I do, but until you'll have a prophecy about our child, I'm going to assume it's a boy.' Albus stated.
'Alright, so we are going to think about names for a boy. I assume if it'll be a girl you'll just decide to name her Ariana and I won't have a say in that.' Gellert sighed.
'I...' Albus stuttered, he wanted to deny it and say it isn't true, but Gellert didn't need to be a Legilimens to know what would happen if they are having a girl.
'How much time would it take the baby to get created?' Gellert wondered.
'I think it's something trivial you should know, you are the smartest person I've ever met, I'm sure you know the answer to your question.' Albus teased.
'I don't have siblings and I never had interest in girls so I don't think it's something I should know. I assume Bathilda always knew, she never had a conversation with me about those subjects. So no, I don't think I need to know that.' Gellert stated.
'I know it's supposed to be nine months, but I thought it would take longer in our special method,' Gellert said.
'You are probably right, I think it might take a full year for the foetus to become a real being.' Albus finally disclosed.
'See? I knew it! You're just teasing me about my lack of family and it's not like you have a good relationship with yours.' Gellert protested, crossing his arms, faking an insult.
'I do, teasing you is part of our partnership,' Albus shrugged with a smile.
'Just don't do this after our child is born.' Gellert groaned.
'I'll think about that,' Albus hummed.
'You are unbearable,' Gellert sighed.
'That's why you love me, you wanted someone who challenged you,' Albus smiled and leaned to kiss his partner.
'Yes, that's true.' Gellert mused.
The wind of the mountains was howling and whistling. Albus could sense the magical energy in the area. It was one of the most magical places in the world: The Eyrie, the headquarters of the International Conference of Wizards. The ancient magic originated from here. The stairs were huge and overwhelming. He was surrounded with diverse people from all over the world, arriving to represent their countries.
Albus felt warmth in his palm. He looked down to see his young son holding his hand with a blank expression. Albus squeezed his son's hand to reassure him. On the top of the stairs Gellert was waiting for him.
'We are going to win,' Gellert smiled and grabbed their son's other hand.
'I know, we are the strongest wizards the world has ever seen,' Albus answered.
The three of them stood there waiting for the Qilin to come to them. They are going to become the Supreme Mugwumps and rule the world. The Qilin walked towards them and bowed to both of them, an indication they have a pure heart.
Suddenly, their child released his hands from his fathers and turned around to look at them. 'They are lying to you! That creature is dead. Like I'm dead!' In the place their child stood a black smoke appeared. His Obscurus got unleashed. It was a vortex of dark wind all around them.
In the middle of the dark cloud a figure of a teenage girl appeared. She was mostly dark and black but you could see a glimpse of bright colour from her hair, it was Ariana. 'Why did you do it Albus?! Why did you kill me? I'm your sister, you should have take care of me, not kill me and replace me with someone else!' a ringing echoing deep sound was heard from everywhere. The voice and smoke were consuming like they were going to swallow Albus to death. 'You are going to pay for what you did to me!' The voice shrill and everything went black after the smoke consumed him.
Albus woke up shaken. He sat up on his comfortable bed, wiping off the sweat from his forehead. His face was really wet and he wasn't sure if that was from sweat or tears. His breathing was shallow and rapid. He was familiar with the nightmares about his sister and her Obscurus but that was a new one. Gellert is the love of his life, and they are creating a child from love, so imagining the child who has part of his sister will kill him was frightening. It's been a long time since he had a nightmare. Yes, he didn't get much sleep this summer but that was because he was worried and disturbed about his family, not because he had nightmares. He had few at the beginning of the summer but since he started sleeping with Gellert they stopped.
Albus needs to calm himself. He needs to drink tea, he knows Gellert has a house-elf but Albus won't wake the poor creature to make him tea he can do that himself. So he went for a stroll to the kitchen.
He felt so guilty about his sister's death right now. She was right, it was his fault, it doesn't matter which spell hit her, he was supposed to protect her, she should have been here with them. He failed her as her brother and now he is replacing her.
Albus found himself standing in front of the vial with their homunculus child. 'I'm sorry, Ari, I really sorry, but I promise you I'll do better with the child. I'm not replacing you, that's my way of remembering you.' he sat there silently let his tears fall.
Albus took a deep breath and continued his journey towards the kitchen. Again he found himself in different place, in front of Gellert's room. He stood there and stared the door. In Godric's Hollow they spent most of their nights together but since they arrived to Nurmengard they didn't even sleep together one time. Why Gellert didn't even offered it to him? Well, Albus hasn't offered it back to Gellert as well, but it's been more than a week and they haven't talked about that at all. 'Maybe we were together all the time because he thought we have a limited time and we wanted to feel we are together and now he doesn't need it anymore?' Albus thought to himself. Neither of them talk about their feelings, but Albus knew he is in love with Gellert. They did said this word, but now Albus wasn't sure if Gellert meant it or just want his power. If Gellert was in love with them, they are supposed to sleep together, not be in separate rooms. Albus didn't realise how much Gellert calmed him while sleeping next to him. Now that he doesn't have that support he truly misses it.
Albus walked back and forth outside of Gellert's room door, occupied with disturbing thoughts. Suddenly a loud thud was heard. It shook him up from his thoughts. He hit the Ignotus Peverell statue and it fell on the floor. He didn't notice the statue before. He actually wasn't inside Gellert's room yet, he knew were the room was but he hadn't aproached it until now.
Out of nowhere the door flew from its hinges and Albus found him paralyzed on the floor. Gellert stepped out the door and pointed at Albus with his wand. 'Merlin, Albus, I'm sorry, I thought someone got inside.' Gellert muttered and freed Albus from the stupefy and handed him a hand to help him get up.
'Thanks for not killing me.' Albus joked and got up with the help of Gellert's hand.
'I would never do such a thing like that, no one in the world could be my partner besides you.' Gellert promised.
'Sorry for waking you up.' Albus apologised.
'That is alright, I get used to you waking me up. You did it all the time in Godric's Hollow.' Gellert shrugged and grinned.
Albus blushed, 'it wasn't on purpose, but sleeping with you did calm me more then being alone. I have no idea how I would have handled these months without you.'
'You had a nightmare or just couldn't sleep?' Gellert asked softly, he remembered how hard it was for Albus to fall asleep because he was always worried.
'Sometimes, I think you are lying to me and you are Legilimens,' Albus muttered, 'I had a nightmare. How did you figure this out?'
'I could guess it. You have a different expression than the ordinary can't go to sleep expression. Now that we are here I can find you a dreamless sleep potion if you want.' Gellert offered.
'I can brew one on my own here if I want to.' Albus reminded him. 'And I don't want to, all I need is to sleep next to you.' he whispered, smiling mischievously.
'Right, we haven't slept together since we came here,' Gellert stated, 'I thought I should let you some time on your own to process everything that happened. Besides, I wasn't sure I'm the person you would want next to you if you would had a nightmare about what had occurred, and you did sleep pleasantly the past few nights.'
'That's logical, but I miss you too much and I prefer to be next to you then apart. My nightmares are much better near you and your presence would calm me, at least I hope so.' Albus told him.
'Then, you want to come in?' Gellert grinned and opened the door to his room.
'Yes, exactly,' Albus said and got inside the room.
Author note: So, you've got a new chapter, I think it's a lame one, but I hoped you liked the references for the third movie. I'm not sure if the chapter feels the same as the rest of the fanfic, it was so weird to write it after a break of two years! If you have advice for improvements please let me know, I do want this chapter to feel like it belongs to the rest of the fanfic. Also I'm really sorry if I have continuity errors in the fic and please let me know if you noticed them.
