Two months had passed and the training was in a word, hell. All Might was not one to cut corners and he pushed them as hard as anyone ever could. At the time Katsuki wanted to quit, honestly, she was in so much pain and exhaustion after each day, that she felt too tired to even eat. The only thing that kept her from flat-out quitting was one thing, and one thing only, the drive to prove herself to be the toughest person there is.
There was also the other reason, if Izuku continued the training by himself, she feared that Izuku would think of this as her abandoning him in a time of need, which would forever wreck any chance she ever had with her childhood friend. The fact that he was bullied relentlessly due to people thinking he did not have a quirk, and his misunderstanding of her actions, which to her was simply out of desperation wanting to keep him alive, rather than have him jump first and be reckless, but she understood that to Izuku it was nothing more than another person picking on the one they consider either worthless, or weak.
So if she quits the training, when he needs her, it would cement the notion that it was just bullying all along, and everything else was an excuse, killing any chance to be the guy whom she lived having an unspoken crush for most of her life. So for two months, she put up with this hellish training, to become stronger, sure, but also because she desperately was trying to prove to Izuku that she was there for him, and help him as much as possible, even when some of his ideas would be seen as insane by almost anyone else.
"We had to do a tug of war, by using a tank, a military tank. Izuku I don't even want to know who All Might convinced to let them borrow a Sherman Tank of all things, and deliver it to the exact beach where we are training, but I would be lying if I didn't say that some part deep down in me, absolutely loved every minute of it. It was challenging and exciting. Never mind that you only won due to cheating." Izuku felt insulted by the insinuation she made in that last comment, he walked up to her almost glaring at her, which secretly made her smile, seems like he was getting over his shyness.
"And how exactly did I cheat during that tug of war? When did I use any underhanded tactic to win? You are calling me a cheater on that, so I call bullshit and ask that you fucking prove it." Katsuki laughed and said that during the tug of war, he mentioned a dolphin was swimming nearby, that is when she considered him cheating, cause few girls would not get distracted after being told that.
"Hey, I just happened to see a dolphin jumping around, so I mentioned it as something fun, trying to make the entire ordeal less stressful. Like I need to use such a distraction to win. Don't insult me." Izuku was not the timid person he once was, that was clear, something made him realize that he needed to get serious, and treat this not as a fun adventure, but rather as risky business, which from the way he was acting during the training, she realized that he was extremely serious about getting as much strength and skill gains as possible. "Fine but I will not be pulling my punches from now on. No taking it easy since you decided to turn this into a competition for who is the toughest. So once you lose don't come crying to me." Izuku's only comment was he wouldn't do that if she didn't.
Three more months of training and the beach was clean, so much so that it was ready to receive people for the next summer. All Cars were either repaired or put on a side as scrap, all furniture was piled to one side for pick up, and most appliances were quickly repaired and given to low-income families who needed them. All in all, they made quite a bit of money and managed to learn a few things along the way.
When Katsuki asked Izuku why they needed the money, Izuku could have been blunt and told her that it was to supplement his mother's income and take a little of the burden off his father, who was working long hours somewhere in another country. he chose, however, to be vague and simply stated it was for a rainy day, being a hero might get injured, and thus they would need the extra cash which they would save for that specific reason, All Might was happy to hear that, most kids who dream of being Professional Heroes, have this idolized version of what it means to be a Pro, more than likely due to how they are often portrayed in the news and mass media.
They were often seen as invincible heroes, who go through harrowing situations, facing huge dangers and all coming out of it with barely a scratch. All Might knew that this was pure propaganda and that being a pro hero was nothing like that at all, they risk their lives every time they face a villain or try to save someone from a disaster natural or otherwise. If these two wanted to see an example of that, he was a perfect example. The fact is his injuries are one reason why he desperately is trying to train Izuku to be as tough as he can be. So far he was happy to know Izuku was not as reckless as some other young men would have been in his place.
In those three months, Izuku's body changed so much that he would not be easily recognized by his classmates from his middle school, lost most of his baby fat, and his body became more muscular while keeping it flexible enough to fight several people at the same time. Katsuki would not admit it, but she had to admit that it was quite a sight to see. At the end of those three months, it was time for All Might to do something that neither Izuku nor Katsuki expected. "It is time Young Midoriya, do you to become my successor and inherit my quirk, and to do that, you need to eat this." He was holding a long strand of blonde hair he just plucked from his head.
The minute ate the hair he saw something strange, something he only saw on his mother's computer display, it was a blue square like the one he saw on the Windows operating system, and it had a message, Welcome to the player, do you accept entering tutorial? He immediately saw that much like when he looked at the computer display, two options were available for him, but he saw no way to move anything like a mouse pointer, so instead he guessed he needed to push the choice with his finger.
The second he touched the yes, he felt like he was now in a vast white area, there were nine people and one of them looked like a ghost of All Might, he immediately recognized him thanks to the fact that he grew up such a big fan of his. Two men walked towards him and one was smiling, "Hey, nice to meet you kid, relax, currently we are inside your head. This is your mental space as it were. The other people you see are the vestiges of every person who has ever had One For All, the one that looks like a ghost it is quite simple, he is still alive, and none of us here are any longer, I am Hiro and my friend who is smiling is Hector, for some reason he can't contain the sheer joy that another person has a quirk as he and I do, a gamer powers quirk."
Izuku went towards them and noticed one large statue with many crystals all over the body of the statue, it looked like he did, and only one was shining the one that would be right over his heart. "You see the statue represents your pressure points, but it also represents how many quirks can you have thanks to the gamers' power quirk. but the thing is the person who originally had that quirk must willingly share with you, or else the crystal representing that quirk will stay dull as they currently are." Hector continued to explain as the other people came closer to them, wondering what was going on, this was the first time most of them met each other.
"Come on people, this is the newest One For All user, you want to make this place a better place, want to help the guy, or just want to have bloody revenge against All For One, then come on over and touch one of these gray crystals, and wish that you could share your quirk with the kid who is an adult version of the kid we see right in front of us. All For One has a copy of your quirks but only by touching the crystals and wishing to share them with Izuku here, can he use them. Nana be sure to grab that ghost version of Toshinori since he too should touch one of the gray and dull crystals on the statue." Hiro wanted to get things going, and not waste any more time than they needed.
Each of them touched the statue as they introduced themselves, the first was Nana Shimura, and she said her quirk was called Float, another man who appeared wearing a gas mask touched another crystal and introduced himself as En, and his quirk was Smokescreen. The next man looked like a bruiser, but he was quite the nice guy since he smiled at Izuku as he touched the crystal on the statue, introduced himself as Daigoro Banjo, and his quirk was called Blackwhip, it was Hikage Shinomori who said his quirk was self-explanatory, called it danger sense, A name named Bruce was next and he called his quirk Fa Jin, he had the look of a man who was heavily involved in martial arts and one more which called himself Kudo who simply said his quirk was called Gearshift.
The two men who initially talked to Izuku, were the last two to touch the statue, after Toshinori Yagi touched it and transferred a quirk the man had no clue it even existed. Having no name Hiro simply called it the Buff Form Quirk, which made several of the male vistages either grin or laugh. "And we are last I am Hiro I have gamer powers that deal with the living, my quirk is called the Gaming Gauntlet of Gaia, and my friend here Hector has gamer powers that deal with the dead, his is the Gaming Gauntlet of Tartatos." Hiro touched the crystal on the left hand of the statue and Hector touched the crystal on the right hand.
As you can see each time one of us touched one of the crystals, it lights up, meaning it holds one of the quirks we shared with you. By meeting people, touching them on the head, and inviting them into his mind, Izuku and that person would appear in his mental scape, and doing so will allow a person to share their quirk with Izuku, but it can never be forced, or something that was done without it being sincere, it has to be an honest wish of the person who has that quirk to wanting to share it, otherwise it would not work.
Hector did not want to be left out of the explanation so he decided to tell Izuku something more about their quirks. "The Gauntlet of Gaia has everything to do with living, so thanks to you having that, your game store contains items that can heal or save lives from injury or even provide protection, the Gauntlet I have however has everything to do with when a person's life is over, so thanks to having mine, you will have access to items that could be used to end the life of someone, but also items that can be used to revive people, meaning a formerly dead person can return to being alive."
Izuku meeting all these vestigues began to observe them and as they introduced the quirks he began to understand exactly how each of them actually worked, thanks to his ability to understand and bring out the best effects of a quirk he had seen even briefly. "So essentially my life is sort of like a video game, and I have access to what some would say the game item shop, I get it, but where do I get the money to buy things and how expensive are the items."
Hiro laughed hearing Izuku, "Well you use gold coins to buy things, that is the in-game currency as it were, you can earn gold pieces by completing quests and tasks that you can see using the mission log in the game menu, any money you have on you, will be converted to gold pieces, but you can convert it back to cash with a simple command, no need to fear someone taking your money from your wallet, cause they will not find any, but at the same time, by converting some gold pieces, you can have cash in case of emergencies, to say this is convenient is a bit obvious."
Finally, the one that did not touch the statue stepped forward, he was a quiet young man but after everything he heard, he decided to speak. "I am Yoichi Shigaraki, Long ago, longer than I care to admit, I was thought to be quirkless, my big brother who only valued strength, forced a power stockpile quirk into my body, he hoped that with me having a quirk I would be easier to be convinced and I would come to believe in his twisted ideology and goals. That of course did not work out the way my big brother thought. It turned out that I did have a quirk, but it was what people now call a support quirk, not a combat-related quirk, and more mental than physical, you see that is the reason I was shown to be quirkless in that exam, my body showed none of the signs the doctor expected."
Izuku immediately asked him what his quirk was and if the quirk that his brother forced into him caused any changes. The fact is that it made Yoichi smile, seeing that the current user of One For All, quickly grasped the very thing he was trying to convey. "The quirk I was born with was a transfer quirk, and thanks to the quirk my brother forced into me, they merged, and that is the origin of One For All. My quirk then became a way to stockpile power from one user to the next, growing stronger with each successive user. The fact is that the one you have right now is eight times stronger than the one I created. The reason I passed my quirk and the reason my brother can not steal it is somewhat connected."
Yoichi explained that his big brother came to be known for his quirk, he was called by many in fear either the Demon King, some called him the Dark One, but he was more known by the name of his quirk, which was All For One, "You must understand why would I oppose my brother, so much so, that I fought him till my big brother killed me, as his villain name implies, that is his philosophy, the believes humanity as a whole is nothing more than tools, pawns, resources to be used up and discarded upon offering no benefit to him, he wanted everything, fame, riches, glory, everything that humanity has ever obtained or dreamed of all for himself, and himself alone, everything, all for one."
Izuku could not help but feel that such desire, such way of thinking made that person sound like a raging sociopath, with no empathy or concern other than for himself, which made Yoichi smile as he recognized what Izuku was thinking, from the way his faces reacted as he thought of what he heard. "Which is why I stood up against him, my quirk also stands for my ideology, one to protect and defend everyone against the threat of my big brother, One who protects and is there to protect all who are victims of my big brother, currently or in the future, thus it was named One For All. My brother has however a very twisted ability with his quirk, it allows him to take quirks from people, include them into himself, and then be able to put them in followers or minions he managed to trick into thinking he is some sort of the savior of humanity. However he could not take One For All from me, because I made it impossible for him to take it, the current user must willingly choose a successor and honestly wish for that person to gain One For All, seeing that my brother was going to kill me, I chose a successor, a fellow hero, I became his mentor until the day my brother killed me. He said if he could not turn me to his side or take my quirk, it would be better to eliminate me, rather than have me stand in his way, and that is how I met my end at the hands of my brother."
Izuku could hardly believe what he just heard, in his wildest dreams he ever figured that the worst villain was responsible, for creating a quirk that had been used by a long line of heroes, to stand against him and eventually defeat him, and each successor was stronger than the last, these people he was meeting all lived and died, well except for All Might who was still alive, and appeared in his mindscape as a ghost, had all fought for the same goal, to stop the evil plans of All For One. Because this quirk was a constant thorn in the villain's side, he also was the one to either kill each of the successive users or cause their demise.
"So basically All For One still thinks the same way, everything belongs to him, all life is nothing but a plaything for his benefit or amusement, and every person who has One For All, his treatment is simple, if you are not with me, then you are against me, thus you must die." Izuku could not hide his disgust and indignation at hearing such an evil person actually existed.
Hiro stepped closer to him as Yoichi touched the crystal on the statue, "Did you ever consider transferring the strength of objects and materials into yourself?" Yoichi said that it would be pointless, objects, animals, and materials have no quirks to transfer. Hector quickly mentioned that is the point, both he and Hiro thought that maybe the transfer quirk is not only meant to transfer quirks, but anything the person wishes. Thus for instance, if he transferred the strength of the strongest metal into himself, then it would make him stronger, without the stockpile quirk however it would not last long, but with it, maybe he can make it last longer, "Such a one for strength, and one to regain stamina and energy, and then you can use that strength you obtained longer see. It was your narrow definition and understanding that kept your use of One For All, to cause All For One actual damage."
Yoichi could not help but feel sad to hear this, in fact, the way they explained things made perfect sense to him, but it turns out it was his conceptual ideas that kept him from using the power of his quirk to the best he could have. He only lamented that he was dead and that it was just depressing that he could not use this knowledge. Hiro decided to drop another bombshell, "You know thanks to our gaming gauntlets Izuku has access to quite a lot of useful items in the game store. It will cost him depending on how valuable or rare the thing is, he can for instance, buy an item that will revive anyone he wants, but it will cost him ten thousand gold pieces to buy it, or he could buy a single processed bean that can make a person heal from any injury, that is a thousand gold pieces, but if he wanted to farm those beans, the one bean he would need to buy is ten million gold pieces. See the prices vary from item to item. With us being here, he has access to every sort of item from birth to death, and some even beyond it, in the game store, for a price."
Nana without hesitation decided to get into this conversation, "So essentially he could buy one of those processed beans, give it to All Might, and he would heal completely from the injuries he got from fighting against All For One, but what do you mean revive from the dead how is that possible?" Hiro decided to elaborate on that by telling her that if he buys the item and gives it to her, her entire body will be recreated outside of his mindscape, and it will be infused with her soul, thus she can return to life, the only negative aspect is that it is so expensive that Izuku will not be able to do something like revive every single of the vestiges all at the same time.
Hector decided to change topics and tell Izuku that he might even be able to buy the pure versions of quirks he knows of or that he possesses. Bruce asked him what he meant by the pure version of the quirk, "Some quirks by their very nature have negative aspects to them, it can't all be sunshine and rainbows, some of these quirks have negative aspects, say for instance All For One, their negative aspect is that All For One will take over the body of whoever comes to possess All For One, corrupted them and make it so that All For One is the soul in control and the person who got the quirk is just a spirit trapped inside their bodies unable to do a damn thing, it steals your body, for his benefit and his benefit only. One For All also has a negative aspect, that is that if a person who obtains One For All, has a quirk, they lose half of their lifespan. The pure quirks that he can buy from the shop have no negative aspects.
Izuku immediately starts to panic thinking that the time he will be able to live has been cut by half, Hiro decides to tell Izuku that was not the case with him, because the gaming gauntlets and the gamer powers, actually had negated that the minute he obtained One For All. It could have done the same for all the others, but since they had no gamer powers quirk like you, Hector, or I do, well that did not happen for them. Buying those pure quirks is no different from buying any item or service from the game store, and much like the items, the more valuable and rare those quirks are, the higher the price for them inside the game shop. The cheapest however is one thousand gold pieces, and some quirks are worth millions.
"So if I have enough gold pieces I could buy a pure version of any quirk that I have ever seen or know of, and even buy items that make death, illness, or injury, not such a major problem. So I could buy copies of these pure quirks and say give them to All Might, allowing him to become an absolute even bigger juggernaut than he already is, which begs the question why would I do that." Hiro suggested gaining enough time to properly train and complete his education at UA for One, if All Might was not only back to perfect health but was stronger, All For One would focus on him completely trying to remove him as an obstacle to his ambitions, why All For One is focused on All Might, Izuku is then free to complete his training with little getting in his way.
"Izuku, time grows short. You must acquire a Senzu bean for All Might, for it holds the power to restore his strength after his grueling battle. Five months of rehabilitation will see him regain his full power, but alas, it will be a fleeting gift, as the transfer of One For All to you will gradually diminish his power."
Izuku nodded, his eyes burning with determination. He knew the gravity of this mission, and failure was not an option.
"Once the tutorial nears its end, you must procure two sets of four powerful Quirks: the original One For All, Fa Jin, Danger Sense, and Gearshift. One set is destined for Nana, the other for All Might, and the item true resurrection to revive Nana."
Hiro paused, allowing the weight of their words to sink in before continuing.
"You must also acquire a Quirk Erasure bullet, to be entrusted to a teacher proficient with firearms. This bullet holds the key to breaking Nana's grandson free from the insidious grip of All For One."
Izuku's brow furrowed as the figure wove a tale of deception and tragedy.
"All For One bestowed upon Nana's grandson a twisted version of a villain's Quirk, Overhaul's power, stripped of its reconstructive capabilities. He did this to corrupt the young man's mind, manipulating him to despise the world and turn against Nana's legacy."
Hiro's voice grew somber, painting a vivid picture of the consequences of Nana's fateful decision.
"Nana, in her misguided attempt to protect her family, abandoned her son, leaving them vulnerable to All For One's malicious intentions. Seizing the opportunity, the villain manipulated her grandson, stripping him of his true Quirk and implanting a twisted version designed to fuel his hatred. Eventually, consumed by fear and panic, he eliminated his entire family, becoming a pawn in All For One's game."
Izuku's heart ached at the tragedy, his fists clenched in determination.
"That is why the Quirk Erasure bullet is crucial," the figure continued. "It will break the hold All For One has over Nana's grandson, freeing him from the madman's control."
As their words faded, a thousand gold pieces materialized before Izuku, a token to aid him in his quest. With a deep breath, he steeled himself, ready to face the challenges that awaited him in the real world.
