Chapter 1
"Hey Daniel? Are you ready to play the new Backrooms game?" Daniel Anderson, had just got back to his computer from a toilet break. He sat down on his chair and spoke to his friend online. "Yes, sorry about that. Alright then, let's do this." After a few hours, Daniel's friend says: "Oh, man that reminds me. A friend of mine has told me about this creepy phone app he downloaded recently." "Oh really? What app is that?" says Daniel.
"Mal0." "What's so creepy about it?" "He said, the app sends pictures of places you've been to. But there's a furry that follows you as well." Daniel became confused and said: "Ok? How is it creepy?" "Well, he said that it looks like it watches you. Almost like it's stalking you." Suddenly, there was a knock on the door and Daniel's Dad pokes his head around the door.
"Are you winning son?" "Yes dad." "Good. I just thought I would let you know that dinner is ready." "Alright, I'll be there in a minute." "Ok, just don't take too long." Daniel's Dad then closes the door and walks downstairs. "Well it's a good thing we just beat the game. I need to go and wash some dishes," says Daniel's friend. "Alright bud, I should go as well. I can't keep my dad waiting." "See you later then." And then Daniel's friend logs off.
Daniel does the same, then he walks downstairs and sits at the table. His Dad comes around with dinner and then he sits across from him. "So, how's it going with your friend?" says Daniel's Dad. "He's doing alright." "Ok uh, did you talk about anything interesting?" "Uh, he did tell me about this weird phone app." "And what was it called?" "He said it was called "Mal0," or something like that."
Daniel's Dad perks up and says: "Mal0?" "Yes?" "Ok, whatever you do, don't download it." "Why not?" "Because it could be dangerous." "How can it be dangerous?" Daniel's Dad looks down at his food and then he says: "Listen, I'm going back to work tomorrow. So I'll bring you with me so I can show you." Daniel looks at his Dad confused and says: "Why do I have to come to your workplace?" "Because if you do download that app, then without my help you would be in danger."
Daniel sighs and says: "Fine. Anything else I should know?" "Well you can't tell anyone about my workplace, ok?" Daniel nods and says: "Good to know." Later that day, it was night time. Daniel was in bed, scrolling on his phone. He was watching some videos and then he decided to look on the app store. Daniel scrolled through the apps and he finds an app called: "Mal0 ver1.0.0".
The description said: "Never settle for those awkward feelings of being alone ever again. Mal0 is an exciting and interactive experience, that will keep you engaged and intrigued. After reading the description, Daniel noticed that there was no listed developer. It had only 9.8MB and it was free to download. "It's just a phone app, what's the worst that can happen?" Daniel says before pressing the download button. It only took a few seconds before it was fully installed. Daniel then looked at the home screen, so he can look at the app.
But the app wasn't there. Daniel became confused, then he looked in the app store and it wasn't there either. "Oh shit, what have I done?" Daniel then turns off the phone and falls asleep; unaware of what he's installed onto his phone.
