"Can't you do something? You read medical textbooks," the ailing weapon said. "No! We have to go to the hospital," Stein said as his chest constricted in fear, his heart still racing. Spirit shook his head firmly to the negative. Stein withdrew his hand, balled it into a fist at his side along with his other. "Idiot," he said before stalking out of the room.

The Kishin remains trapped beneath the school, Medusa presumed dead, and the DWMA believed victorious. But one victory means little in the grand scheme. There are other witches and demons to fight, other problems to solve, and groups to put down, and the DWMA is left tumbling into a greater conspiracy with an enemy they thought long dead.

"No! Don't leave me! Soul!" screamed Maka. "Don't leave me! I-I need you!" "Maka...You have to let him go. He's going to a better place," I gently said as I watched her shaking figure fall to the ground.  That was only a few days ago, her losing her partner and bestfriend. They had worked together non stop after they became partners. Nothing could tear them apart...

After Black*Star and Kid goes on an adventure to find the great Excalibur, Soul can't help but wonder why Maka is not interested in a weapon that is so much better than him.

Mix clay and a handful of maggots, add a soul or two, a pinch of ease and awkwardness, let bake on low, and wait for it to cool.

following the events of her graduating and leaving dwma for a few other missions, Grimoire, the daughter of lord death and friends return to the school as teachers and see the new generation of meisters and weapons. the adventures begin again. (the events take place after the events of the anime and manga with a few changes)

Spirit wanted to be angry. He wanted to tell Stein that it was none of his business what he did with any girls. But he knew that couldn't really be what was bothering his young friend. "Stein. It's okay, I promise you. They're okay with it. There's nothing wrong with any of it..." Stein tensed further, and Spirit frowned quizzically. "Why do you care, anyway?"

"Stein!" Spirit cried in protest, his voice rising in pitch. "Don't breathe." Spirit blinked, the harsh but monotone directive confusing his train of thought. "What?" he asked, but held his breath nonetheless. "They melt too fast if you breathe."

In which Maka and Soul succeed in making Soul into a Death Scythe on their first try, but the road ahead of them is still full of challenges.

Stein slowly stepped out from behind Lord Death to find the source of the stammering voice, and it stopped abruptly as the boy laid eyes on him. And likewise, almost immediately, the sight before him stole his breath away. "Ah, well. I suppose there's no time like the present. Spirit, this is your new partner, Franken Stein."

Maka Albarn confronts a witch in the middle of the night. When she wakes up, she realises she's been turned into a cat. She needs to find a way to turn back into her old self. Communication is a problem. Soul's hair can't get any whiter. (Originally uploaded to AO3)

"I'm sorry." "...What?" The words had fallen thoughtlessly from Spirit's lips, and despite how he was holding back he could feel the tension in Stein's soul rise in response. It wasn't enough. He wasn't sure anything could ever be enough to mend their years of separation; of silence, misunderstandings, and rejection that was ultimately unfounded.

Perfectly symmetrical...just as it should be.
