Planet Visalayan (Medeusan home-world) orbit

After destroying the Ahtapot, the Shadow ship, along with two more of them, traveled to Visalayan. The Medeusans had a wide variety of native pre-Federation ships, including a handful of warships, all crewed by Medeusans. They also had a pair of Apollo class Federation ships, crewed by people from throughout the Federation, to help them defend their world.

The Shadow ships suddenly phased in from hyperspace, and began firing on every ship in the area.

Episode 11: Shadow Dancing

Planet Visalayan (Medeusan home-world) orbit - USS Scipio

"Who are they?" asked Captain Kallamar. S/he was a Medeusan. Although Starfleet had made a point of crewing the Apollo class ships with mixed crews, in most cases, they were captained by a member of the species that was native to the system they were assigned to protect.

"Unknown," reported the Talosian Science Officer, Lieutenant Commander Truri.

"Could they be those Shadows that we were briefed on?" suggested Commander Starn, the Tarquinian First Officer.

"Who ever they are, they must be repulsed. Fire phasers!" commanded Captain Kallamar.

The Shadow vessel glowed when the phasers hit it, but was otherwise unaffected as its' energy beam lanced out to destroy another Medeusan ship.

"Phasers ineffective. No damage to hostile ship," reported Lieutenant Eight, the Tactical Officer.

"Then let's try photon torpedoes, fire torpedoes," ordered Captain Kallamar, before turning to hir Communications Officer. "Send out a distress call to Admiral Sart."

"Firing torpedoes," said Lieutenant Eight. "One hit, causing some damage to target ship."

"They are returning fire," observed Commander Starn, just before the ship was rocked by the impact of the anti-proton beam.

"Shields at 23%," reported Lieutenant Eight.

USS Molok

Admiral's log: Stardate 58321.8 - We have received a distress call from the Scipio. Apparently Visalayan is under attack by unknown forces, possibly the Shadows that the Vorlons us warned about. I am bringing all of the fleet in the Talos system to their rescue.

When they dropped out of warp, the view-screen showed a battle in progress between both the Federation ships stationed there, as well as the local-built Medeusan ships on one side fighting a trio of black spidery looking ships.

"All ships, target the unknown ships with phasers and fire," commanded the Talosian Admiral, Sart.

The Admiral had arrived with two Apollo class ships and 12 pre-Federation Talosian ships. They all fired their phasers. The three Shadow ships glowed briefly, but were otherwise unaffected by the phasers impacting their ships.

"No damage to enemy ships," reported Lieutenant Vortik, the Vulcan Tactical Officer.

The Shadow ships turned on the admiral's fleet and hit three of their ships with their energy beams. Their Shields held for a moment, then collapsed.

"Let us try photon torpedoes," commanded Admiral Sart. "Full spread at center ship."

"Firing Torpedoes," confirmed Lieutenant Vortik. "Some damage to center ship. But ship is firing back."

The ship lurched, as the energy beam from the shadow ship hit them.

"Shields at 34%," reported Lieutenant Vortik, while two of the Talosian ships were destroyed by the other Shadow vessels.

"Evasive maneuvers pattern sigma," ordered Admiral Sart. "Fire Photon Torpedoes again."

"Firing Torpedoes, full spread," said Lieutenant Vortik.

Admiral Sart tried reaching out to the Shadow ship with telepathy, but was unable to break through the dark thoughts of the Shadows. His concentration was broken as the ship lurched again.

"Shields are down," reported Lieutenant Vortik.

"They are coming around for another hit," observed Commander Two, the First Officer. "Look like all of them are aiming at us!"

By now, all of the Talosian ships and the other Apollo class ship Admiral Sart had brought with him were destroyed. On the Medeusan side both Apollos were gone and all but one of their pre-Federation ships were gone.

As the anti-proton beam of the three Shadow ships converged on the Molok, suddenly a Constitution Class ship came out of warp directly in the path of the energy beams.

The USS Constitution's Shields flared briefly before failing. As the Constitution fired its' photon torpedoes at all three Shadow vessels, it began broadcasting:

"WE ARE THE FEDERATION. EXISTENCE AS YOU KNOW IT IS OVER. DE-POWER YOUR WEAPONS AND SURRENDER. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!"

Being Borg, Captain Kim had rigged the intercoms so that all of the crew-members who were Borg could be heard saying this in unison. The crew of his ship was not all Borg, not even mostly Borg. But there were enough to make this effect scary sounding.

The Shadows responded by concentrating their fire on the Constitution. The ship exploded in a warp core breach.

Pugita (Medeusan pre-Federation warship) - Bridge

"Captain, the USS Constitution has been destroyed!" reported the Tactical Officer.

This was the last remaining ship that the Medeusans had built before they joined the Federation. It had no Shields and the polarized hull plating had not proved to be a defense against the Shadows. For weaponry, it had neither phasers, nor photon torpedoes. Instead, it relied on anti-matter warheads that were designed to be transported in the vicinity of Skrrr fighters.

"Get ready to transport another warhead," commanded the captain.

"But captain, the warheads are not doing much damage in proximity," protested the Tactical Officer.

"Then target the inside of the enemy ship . . . Beam!" Commanded the Captain.

As designed, the Medeusan warhead exploded on materialization. But this time, it materialized inside the Shadow ship, causing the fragments of the Battlecrab to pelt the other two Shadow vessels as it exploded. Suddenly, the two remaining Shadow vessels stopped firing and phased back into hyperspace.

Bajor Orbit

Lieutenant Long-Traveler was a Cylon Raider. When he joined Starfleet, his weapons were replaced with advanced sensors so he could act as a scout and surveillance ship. When the Battlestar Galactica had been called away, he was sent here to keep an eye on the Bajorans. Without weapons he couldn't prevent them from leaving in their sail ships. But it had been a while since the last time they had sent one out. So he was here to watch and report if any did try to escape. The Bajorans were not as civilized as the Federation. When they traveled to a neighboring planet, the natives tended to suffer. As a result, the Federation had banned them from space and interdicted any of the Bajorans that tried to leave. Currently Bajor was in the midst of a religious civil war between the followers of the Prophets (who wanted to stay on Bajor) and the Listeners of the Daemons. (Who wanted to leave Bajor and colonize the galaxy)

Suddenly, a Shadow Battlecrab phased in from hyperspace and destroyed the Raider with a single shot. Once that happened, the Bajoran Listeners of the Daemons began launching sail ships. They had decided to evacuate Bajor en mass. They'd seek their fortunes elsewhere in the galaxy.

Planet Visalayan (Medeusan home-world) orbit - USS Molok

"Admiral, a Fleet of Skrrr ships has arrived," reported Lieutenant Vortik. "They appear to be targeting not only our ships but the planet, its' self."
