Dante found himself in a void he's had many dreams before, nightmares even, sometimes these dreams could also be visions of a mirror world but this dream wasn't like the usual ones he's had as he walked around the void.

[This is… weirder than usual… something's off.] Dante thought aloud as he looked around, he saw a scene appearing into view. Dante walks over to the scene. It was… to say the least a bloodbath, bodies littered the floor, and in the middle of it were three people, a young child with rabbit ears in what appears to be a medical dress asleep on the floor, a woman with horns and a hooded man.

Dante watched the woman hold the man's head telling him something, afterward the man collapsed to the floor. She looked barely alive just holding on to the last bit of life, she turned to Dante as if she knew he was watching the entire time. Her mouth made movements as if talking to him before finally collapsing to the floor.

The scene slowly fades into darkness before the sounds of rushed footsteps can be heard, this was a first for Dante; it had not appeared to be related to him in any way yet there was some sort of lingering familiarity to it. But like most dreams, Dante would forget about them once he woke up. But, this will turn out to be something more than just a dream.

Prologue - To Follow a New Star

An Arknights x Limbus Company Fanfiction

Dante had expected to wake up to the usual commotion of the bus, however as he slowly began to awaken he heard a different set of sounds; the distorted sound of medical equipment. [medical equipment? Did something happen?] But before Dante could complete his thoughts a voice spoke to him.

"…Doctor …take …Take My…" The Voice slowly began to become clearer to Dante. "Take my hand!" responding to the voice Dante held his hand out before fully processing it

[Wait… that… phrase… sounds- Wait no!] Dante puts the pieces together realizing the situation He's in, he then remembers that day on the bus and prepares, as he feels the grasp of a hand he grips hard expecting Vergilius.

"O-ouch you're hurting my hand! R-relax Doctor." Instead, Dante heard the gentle voice of a young girl, his hearing finally clear. immediately Dante loosened his grip, The Room seemed to have calmed down having completed their operation.

[S-Sorry…] he apologized but it seemed all they heard was the tick-tocking of his clock head, slowly his vision was restored and once Dante could finally see who was holding his hand it was a brunette with blue eyes, and rabbit ears showing a look of concern. Before letting go.

[Wait… isn't she?] Dante thought the girl looked similar to the child in his recent dream in that scene though now older than before. He watched her call someone over and begin to speak to herself, another person came into view walking to her side away from Dante's medical bed, and began to converse with her.

[H-hello? Can you two hear me?] Dante tried to greet them the rabbit girl appeared to have heard him but in the end was ignored, perhaps mistaking his ticking for an actual clock, which was to be expected he contemplated on what to do.

Dante thinks of a way to get them to notice him, before remembering the day He met the sinners and how they became bound to his time. [Maybe… that will work…] He prepared himself for what he would feel after saying that specific phrase that day now.

meanwhile…

Amiya was worried The Doctor had held her hand just that moment though at first he had gripped her hand hard hurting it, she believed it was due to how sudden it was to have someone hold their hand from unconsciousness.

"H-how's The Doctor Medic?" The medic left the Doctor's side and walked over to Amiya hearing her call her over. "J-just a moment ago… he was holding my hand…" She seemed rather flustered by it all. "S-so why isn't he waking up…?"

"Amiya! don't panic, just calm down first!" Medic placed her hands on Amiya's shoulders. knowing how Amiya felt about The Doctor, Medic made sure to keep Amiya's emotions in check.

"A-ah… S-sorry…" Amiya held her head down having realized she was panicking, she heard the sound of a clock ticking as if talking to her. "hm? Medic did you hear that?" She looked towards The Doctor only to be met by his still body.

"What ticking?" Medic looked confused having not heard of the ticking Amiya was talking about before sighing. "You always get so flustered when it comes to the Doctor." She took her hands off Amiya's shoulders.

"At least all his vitals are stable, you don't need to worry anymore," Medic told Amiya which appeared to relieve her a little more.

"I'll do one more inspection, just for you!" Medic reassured Amiya further as she returned to the Doctor's side.

"T-thank you very much!" Amiya thanked as Medic went to the Doctor's side

Medic inspected the Doctor's condition checking everything, "There should be nothing of con-" Medic was interrupted as she got closer to Dante,

[Follow…]

Medic suddenly heard; near the Doctor startling and causing her to take a few steps back.

"What happened?" Amiya got closer asking Medic why she stepped away from the Doctor

"I… I thought heard him say 'f-follow'." Medic answered as she continued to watch the doctor.

[Your Star]

Amiya and Medic heard last but before they could say anything in response, the Doctor sat up immediately clutching his head. Amiya and Medic witness his heart rate monitor immediately spike up, Amiya tries to help the Doctor but is pushed back as several chains begin to spread out of the side of his head.

A Chain heads towards Amiya, she braces herself but it ignores her attempt and penetrates her chest, she looks to her side and sees that it is also happening to Medic, she looks around the room and witnesses it happening to everyone who was a member of Rhodes Island in the room.

More chains began to shoot out of Dante, appearing to enter cracks resembling shattered glass around himself as he screamed in pure agony.

In a part of Chernobog a chain linked to a certain Sarkaz, at a rendezvous point several operators' chests were pierced by chains, and on the landship of Rhodes Island operators too had chains pierced their chests.

The chains connecting to hundreds of operators began to tug and pull out, returning to Dante at a rapid speed. Once the chains returned to Dante, he bent forward on the medical bed, the agony finally over.

[I… I should have expected that…] Dante continued to breathe heavily, finally relieved, he relaxed his body, sat on the bed, turned his head up to the ceiling, and closed his eyes.

"Umm…" Amiya hesitantly spoke up, immediately causing Dante to open his eyes again, and turned to Amiya and Medic who were joined by several others in the room looking at Dante.

[Oh right… Uh… Hello?] Dante waved his hand at them sheepishly. [Sorry about that… Just had to test something just now…] Dante scratched the back of his head.

On Rhodes Island…

Some operators continued work as usual, while others were discussing what those chains were and what they were used for after their sudden appearance and leave. It was a rather eventful day for Rhodes Island.

In one of the occupied rooms was a feline writing down an equation on a board, whose hair was white and eyes were blue; She was known on Rhodes island as Faust and a chain had interrupted her line of thought and another took over.

"H-how is he here?" Faust shocked went into deep contemplation about the recent series of events, Why was Dante here? Did he just link every single person who had signed a contract with Rhodes Island? This was something she couldn't have thought of happening let alone the others.

"Maybe Faust will give Faust answers… or maybe Faust will be as confused…" Faust did not like unknown variables. And Dante being in this world was one that sent alarms off in her head. She needed help and she needed it now.

"Faust will know… no Faust has to know." She closes her eyes beckoning the call of other Fausts. This is something she or the others could have thought of happening. She needed to do something, she had to go to Chernobog.

Closure strolled through the halls of Rhodes Island thinking of what those chains were. "Could it have been him?… no The Doctor never had such arts how-" Someone had bumped into closure while she was processing what was going on.

"H-hey watch you-" She turned to the person who bumped her and noticed who it was. Revealed to be Faust who looked rather distressed, unusual from her usual calm demeanor.

"Faust? Why do you look like you're in a hurry?" Closure asked Faust following her wherever she was going.

"Faust must go, Faust must meet Dante in Cherno-." Faust hastily replied and realized the accidental slip of her tongue caused her and Closure to stop for a moment before continuing.

"W-wait up! Who's Dante?" Closure asked but realized at that moment. "Wait… Doctor!? H-how do you know The Doctor?" She questioned Faust as they approached the hanger, Faust stopped as they reached the hanger and turned to Closure who was now crossing her arms waiting for her response.

"Because…" Faust took a moment before answering. "Because Faust knows all." Now her usual calm and confident demeanor. "Faust must now leave for Chernobog, miss Closure. If you have any questions leave them for when I return." She says as she continues towards one of Rhodes Island's Hovercrafts.

"W-wait…" Closure reached out to Faust but didn't move to stop her as she got on the hovercraft. "Damnit!" frustrated she walked back to wherever she was going while mumbling and grumbling to herself.

"That Feline… she's as bad as Kal'tsit when she opens that mouth of hers… and now all she answers is she 'knows all'? Aargh!" Today wasn't a good day for the chief engineer as she walked through the halls of Rhodes Island.

Back in Chernobog…

[Sorry about that… I was just… Testing something] Dante scratched the back of his head sheepishly waiting for the two to say something to him, though it seemed they were rather hesitant as well. Amiya turned slightly to Medic hesitant to approach Dante, Medic nodded to Amiya to go ahead and speak.

"Umm… A–are you alright? Doctor?" Amiya asked the Doctor, approaching his medical bed, as she approached his side, a thought came up reminding her of the first thing she noticed opening the Sarcophagus.

"When did The Doctor… get his head replaced?" She thought about the Doctor's clock-head and with what had recently occurred more questions had popped up, but it was obvious… that she wouldn't get her answers so easily.

[Y-yeah… I am fine, as fine as I can be… at least.] After all having just experienced hundreds of chains piercing his heart isn't going to be a good experience. Especially once he has to revive hundreds of people at once... but that won't happen till later down the line.

[So… my title is The Doctor, right?] The entire room went silent as Dante spoke those words, leaving an air of awkward silence.

[I… guess I shouldn't have said that…] turning to Amiya who now had an expression of despair on her face. [Yup definitely shouldn't have] Dante thought cringing to himself.

"Y-you don't remember?" She thought the Doctor was fine after all he had been rather receptive to them earlier. But she didn't assume he had any kind of memory lost until just now.

[N-no I guess not… sorry.] Dante replied holding up a hand to his clock head, looking around the room it seemed he had brought the morale down.

"D-do you at least still remember your name?" Amiya asks straightforwardly, believing that as long as he can remember that, then maybe he can slowly recollect memories of his past.

[Dan…te? Dante right?] Dante Answered faking uncertainty but noticed that it had caused Amiya to be renewed with hope along with some operators in the room.

[Wait… did this Doctor have the same name as me or-] Dante is interrupted by a sudden pain in his head, he clutches his head causing Amiya to reach out for him. unrecognizable memories flash before him but they all seemed familiar to him.

[I think… I just regained some of my old memories just now…] Dante viewed these memories, but was greeted with a blurry scene only being able to vaguely make out the figures in them, but one of these figures was sharper than the rest, Amiya's figure.

Amiya stepped back a little and sighed with relief "That's good…" The Doctor still remembered his name but also recalled some more memories. "What did you recall? Doctor." She was hoping that those memories would help him understand what was going on.

[The memories… were blurry but… what I could see was a younger you…] he looked at the Amiya. [Who are you?] He simply asked, she sighed her expression a little down but not as much as before.

"I… I am Amiya… and like you, a member of Rhodes Island and… I am your partner." She held her arms together to her chest responding to Dante's question, Dante was silent for a moment processing her words.

[Your… Partner?] He repeated back to Amiya unsure if that was what she meant to which she nodded back, making Dante contemplate for a moment [I didn't know… this Doctor was into-] Before he could continue his line of thought he noticed Amiya appearing to have realized what she must have accidentally meant.

"W-Waitwaitwait! Nu-not like that! not like that!" Her blush made her as red as a tomato covering her face in embarrassment her ears drooping.

Dante chuckles amused at Amiya's realization before getting off his medical bed, Medic wanted to stop you but noticed you were fine getting off the bed deciding to halt herself as you walked over to Amiya.

[It's okay I didn't think of it like that.] he reassured as he patted Amiya's head pretending to not initially think of that.

[I can put my trust in you.] Dante could tell Amiya was sincere now deciding to put his trust in them fully, pulling his hand away Amiya looked up at him her embarrassment going away, Dante then put his hands into his coat's pockets.

[I may not remember everything but…] Dante recalls the beginning of his journey with the Sinners of Limbus Company, a journey to reclaim his memories and old head.

[Maybe… as I journey with you I'll gradually regain my memories, Amiya.] Amiya's mood brightens from Dante's words as she nods at him. this was a new journey for Dante and another to reclaim lost memories.

"I'll do my best to help you remember as well Dante!… You mean a lot to me after all." Amiya's fist pump determined for Dante to regain his memories to which Dante nodded, before Amiya softly added something to the end of it, that Dante couldn't quite hear.

[So now uh… where are we?] It was something that Dante was gonna ask sooner or later, so he decided it'd be a good time to ask.

"We're-" the sound of a door slamming open interrupted and startled Amiya. "W-what was that!?" everyone turned to the entrance to the room an operator of Rhodes Island stood there breathing heavily before rushing over to Amiya.

"We… we're being attacked!" taking his time to breathe before continuing "Their outfits… T-they didn't look like Ursus Soldiers." now an explosion could be heard as several armed people came into the room.

"T-they're… They're Reunion." Another explosion… "Operators prepare for battle! Everyone else takes cover!" She orders as the operators prepare to fight any Reunion that tries to get close, she turns to Dante hearing him rummaging through his coat. "D-Dante what are you looking for?"

[I am looking for my device… I know what I have to do so I am taking the initiative] Amiya nods as He continues to rummage through his coat while fighting is happening nearby. A bolt whizzes through the air almost hitting Medic causing her to scream.

Amiya quickly looked into her coat and pulled out a rather bulky tablet "You mean this?" Dante turns to Amiya and quickly heads over to her immediately taking the tablet off Amiya's hands.

[Thank you! Now let me just boot it up.] Dante starts the tablet up, and it boots up… slowly… Amiya looks over at the fighting assisting with her arts whenever she can and turning back to Dante every few seconds…

Amiya witnesses a guard fall to a Reunion member… turning back, the screen on Dante's tablet changes and now reads [Golden Bough Synchronization Complete] Dante looks at the battle sighing.

[Damnit this thing takes too long to boot… No matter, it's time] He turns to Amiya who nods at him, to which Dante nods back as she enters the fray, a rather fierce start to his new adventure.

[I… could have handled this combat a lot better I'll be honest…] Dante stared at the massacre that was five waves against a Reunion squad as Amiya dealt the final blow on the Arts Guard Leader with a barrage of three originium bolts, barely holding herself up alongside a Vanguard and Defender.

Greetings, first off if you were a follower of Sensei of Rhodes Island I… forgot and accidentally left it to rot I've got work on the next chapter just haven't opened it in a long I'll return to it later on. Either way, I hope you guys like the first prologue to Mirror of a Certain Pharmaceutical Company, I've been enjoying Limbus and decided why not and try my hand at an Arknights cross-fic with it.
