(Ayla's POV)

*I'll never forget one of the most magical, & insane, adventures of my life. Next to my journey to Oz, of course. It all started on a beautiful sunny afternoon. Sally & I were sitting under a tree in the Great Forest, reading books. It had been a week since we defeated Infinite & the Phantom Ruby. Now me, Sonic, & Tails were in our hometown of Knotehole for a little R&R. I like to call moments like this, future sister-in-law bonding time*

Ayla: You know, it's kinda funny. When I was a kid, I thought books without pictures were weird. But now, I love them.

Sally: It's true. All you need is your imagination and they can take you anywhere you want.

Ayla: But the sad part about it is you have to come home as soon as the book is done.

Sally: You're right.

*We both giggled. Then I yawned. I put my book down & stood up*

Ayla: Boy, for some reason I can't stay awake today. I need to take a walk or something.

Sally: Go ahead. Just don't go too far.

Ayla: Okay.

*I went into the woods. I walked for a bit until I came to the Great River. I stopped to get drink. Just then, I saw a reflection in the water. It looked like my friend Chris Thorndyke, only he had white rabbit ears on his head & was wearing a red waistcoat over a red vest, which was over a white shirt, brown pants, & brown shoes (look up "HnKnA: PETER WHITE" by "starryducky" on "DeviantArt"). He was running by the river & looked at a gold pocket watch in his left hand*

White Rabbit (Chris): Oh, my fur and whiskers! I'm late, I'm late, I'm late!

Ayla: Huh? What's he so late for? A costume party? *I hopped across some stepping stones to the other side & ran after him* Chris! Wait up!

White Rabbit (Chris): I'm late, I'm late for a very important date! No time to say hello, goodbye! I'm late, I'm late, I'm late!

Ayla: A date? Hmm . . . I wonder if it's with Helen. Chris, slow down!

White Rabbit (Chris): No, no, no, no, no, I'm overdue! I'm really in a stew! No time to say goodbye, hello! I'm late, I'm late, I'm late!

*He ran behind a dead tree with the top half missing. I went behind it, but he was gone. At the base of the tree was a hole. I looked down into it, but couldn't see anything.

Ayla: Hello? *suddenly, my hand slipped on the side & I fell into the hole* Help! *just then, I stopped falling & I saw I was floating* After this, I don't think I'll ever worry about fail down the stairs again. *then my clothes started to change. I was now wearing a black ribbon tied in a bow, a white apron with a bow tied in the back over a light blue short sleeved dress with a short skirt, a white petticoat, frilly pantalettes, elbow length black & white fingerless gloves, black & white knee length stockings, black high-heeled mary janes (look up "Ayla - Alice Dress" by "SwanGirl24" on "DeviantArt")* Ah! What am I wearing!? This isn't my style at all! *as I fell, I noticed something strange about the hole. the walls were lined with cupboards & shelves. maps & pictures decorated the walls. at one point, feeling a bit hungry, I picked up a jar of orange jam from one shelf. But it was empty, so I put it on the next shelf I passed. I continued to fall for quite a while* I hope this stops soon or I'll end up on the other side of the world.

*Suddenly, I landed in a pile of sticks & dry leaves. Just then, Chris ran last me*

White Rabbit (Chris): Oh, my fur and whiskers! It's getting very late! The Duchess will be furious with me!

*I quickly stood up & went after him. Then I turned a corner & found myself in a long, low hall with doors lined on both sides*

Ayla: Chris? Where are you!? *I tried to open all the doors, but they were all locked* Oh, just great. Now what? *just then, I heard light snoring* What's that?

*Followed the sound to the end of the hall, behind a set of tiny curtains. I opened them & found a tiny door with a doorknob with a face that looked just like Silver. I turned the doorknob*

Doorknob (Silver): OW!

*I jumped in surprise*

Ayla: Oh, I'm sorry about that.

Doorknob (Silver): It's okay. But you did give me quite a turn

Ayla: You see, I was following -

*He started laughing at his joke*

Doorknob (Silver):*laugh* Get it? "Doorknob?" "Turn?"

Ayla: Uh . . .

Doorknob (Silver): One good turn deserves another. What can I do for you?

Ayla: Well, I'm looking for a friend of mine. So if you don't mind . . . *he made his keyhole wider. I looked in it & saw Chris on the other side* I see him!

*I started to reach for the knob again, but he moved away*

Doorknob (Silver): Sorry. You're much too big. Simply impassable.

Ayla: You mean "impossible?"

Doorknob (Silver): No, impassable. Nothing's impossible.

Ayla:*in her mind* I guess that's true with the adventures I've had.

Doorknob (Silver): Why don't you try the bottle on the table?

Ayla: Table? *I turned around & saw a glass table in the middle of the room, with a little bottle on it**in her mind* I don't remember that being there earlier.

Doorknob (Silver): Read the directions. And directly you'll be directed in the right direction.

*I went to the table, picked up the bottle, & read the tag*

Ayla: "Drink me." Hmm . . . What was it Uncle Chuck always said when I was a kid? Oh yeah! Don't drink anything that's poison. But it isn't marked poison. *I opened the bottle & sniffed it* And it doesn't smell like poison. But then again, I'm not exactly an expert. *I took a sip* Mmm. Tastes pretty good. Like a . . . Cherry tart, custard, pineapple, roast turkey, toffee, & buttered toast mix. *suddenly, I shrunk until I was 3 inches high* Uh . . . What just happened?

Doorknob (Silver):*laugh* You almost went out like a candle.

*I went up to the door*

Ayla: But now I'm just the right size!

*He reached for the knob, but he moved away again*

Doorknob (Silver): Oh. No use. I forgot to tell you. I'm locked!

*He laughed*

Ayla: Oh no!

Doorknob (Silver): But, of course, you've got the key. So -

Ayla: What key?

Doorknob (Silver): Don't tell me you left it up there

*The key appeared on the glass table*

Ayla: Oh man! *I tried to climb up the leg of the table, but slid back down* Now, what do I do? *Just then, I noticed something next to me. It was a pair of gloves & a fan. I picked them up* Chris must've dropped these. *I sighed* I swear that kid would lose his head if it weren't attached to his body. *I put the gloves & fans in a pocket in my apron* Now then, how to get that key.

Doorknob (Silver): Try the box, naturally.

*I tiny gold box appeared between my legs. I opened it & found cookies decorated with words in icing*

Ayla: "Eat Me." Well, okay. I might as well, even I don't know what this'll do. *I took a bite. suddenly, I started growing until I filled the whole room. my left foot hit the door, covering the doorknob. he tried to speak, but I couldn't hear him, so I moved my foot* I'm sorry, what was that?

Doorknob (Silver): I said, "A little of that went a long way."

*He laughed*

Ayla: It's not funny! Now I'll never out of here!

*I don't know why, but I suddenly started crying. I wasn't that upset, just frustrated*

Doorknob (Silver): Oh, come now. Crying won't help.

Ayla: I know . . . B - But I can't stop . . .

*More & more tears fell from my eyes until they started to flood the whole room*

Doorknob (Silver): Hey. This won't do. This won't do at all. You, up there, stop! Stop, I say! *then he saw the bottle floating in my tears* Oh, look! The bottle! The bottle!

*I picked up the tiny bottle & drank from it. Then I shrunk again & landed in the empty bottle*

Ayla: Oh, geeze. I guess this is what I get for acting like a crybaby.

*The bottle floated through the keyhole along with all of the water*
