A/N: This story was made to commemorate and cherish all my cats; ones that passed, current ones and the ones in the future. May I always be a slave to my ginger kitties.
Fred and George were extremely proud to hold the title of the funniest, most creative, and most hilarious pranksters and jokers of their generation, they could amuse and entertain practically everyone (minus one pompous git of a brother and greasy-haired old bat of a potions teacher). Hell, they would even say that they were one of the best pranksters in history, only a few steps after legendary Marauders. There were many pretenders to try and take away their titles, but the twins always managed to show them their place. Everyone at Hogwarts knew their name, they were practically basking In glory.
Up until now, they would never suspect to undermine their own titles. Everything started during the summer holidays before the previous school year. When they retrieved Harry from the Dursley's hellhouse, they had no problems cheering him up. When they got to the Burrow their sister got extremely quiet and flushed. Like, really flushed. They still couldn't comprehend how someone could impersonate a tomato that good for so long.
After their sister got all shy in front of the certain boy who lived, they decided to break the tension. And how would you break the tension between your sister and her lifelong crush? Of course, you would tease her mercilessly in front of said boy!
As it turned out, eleven-year-old girls with crushes do not really appreciate this doing. Their sister, a strange creature she was, started to be even more quieter and shy, if it was even possible, shrinking to her shell. Who would have thought that?
When the school year started they couldn't give their sister this much attention as on holidays. They had hoped that she would forgive them, and wouldn't be too devastated. Unfortunately, they noticed that she was getting more and more pale and depressed. So they started to tease her more, of course! Unpredictably, she got mad at them. Eleven-year-old girls were really something different!
After the events of the Chamber of Secrets, their sister got even more depressed. All of their family tried to cheer her up. Their mum tried her best to make Ginny her favourite food, their dad spent every free while with her trying to infect her with his passion for muggle technology, and even their eldest brother Bill managed to get a week off and visit her. Fred and George tried practically everything and everything failed.
The twins would never suspect that their little sister would be the downfall of their indisputable rein on the world's best pranksters list.
Now, the near-fallen kings of pranking were placed against a wall, with only one choice to save themselves. They planned something very unconventional and genius to protect their reputation (and cheer their sister up – not to forget that, obviously). Using all of their genius, they came up with a foolproof plan. Who would better improve Ginny's mood than the boy who saved her after all? Additionally, she would have alone time with her crush. The only problem was to persuade Harry to do this, but when the twins want something, they always get it.
The first stage of their plan couldn't have gone better. They have successfully stolen their brooms from the shed and flew to Little Whinging, Surrey. When they landed in the backyard of number 4 Privet Drive, they quickly opened the backdoor with a lockpick. Thanks to their father for this muggle gadget. They sneaked to Harry's room, paying special attention to the stairs so they didn't creak. They opened the door to the smallest bedroom pushing an eavesdropping Harry backward.
"Ouch!"
"Harry! What are you doing?" Asked George closing the door after Fred before the Dursleys heard anything.
"What do you think I was doing? I was trying to hear what this whole commotion was about!"
"What commotion? You certainly haven't heard us, have you?
"Of course, I heard you! You are as loud as Ron's Snoring!"
"No! That's impossible!" The twins looked at each other horrified.
"Sure," Harry said dismissively, "Are you here to take me away?" The boy's eyes lit up excitedly.
"Yes," They answered simultaneously.
Harry grinned and visibly brightened, "Give me a minute to pack my things!"
"That won't be necessary." Another pair of the same voice startled Harry.
"What?" Harry asked turning back to them. He really didn't like this maniacal look in their eyes.
"What we mean is, you are coming with us, but won't need anything with you," They smiled strangely at him.
Harry gulped nervously and looked at where his wand was hidden, then back to the twins, "Why?" He asked cautiously.
"No more questions dear Harrykins!" The twins grinned toothily.
Harry rushed to get his wand and pointed it to the face of one of the twins, but before he could cast any spell, the other twin tore it away. George grabbed him by his arms, however, Harry's quick kick in the shin made him loosen his grip. Harry broke away but before he even noticed, Fred threw him on his bed and sat on his arms. George quickly joined his brother sitting on the younger boy's legs.
"Fred! George! What the hell are you doing!" Harry shouted, for the first time in his life hoping for Uncle Vernon to barge in angrily into his room.
"Saving our reputation little Potter," said Fred pulling the vial from his robes.
"Now, drink it up," said George with a sing-song voice and huge grin as he shoved the contents of the vial into the boy's mouth. Harry's world turned dark.
