Chapter 7: A Deserving Win?
Chiyun was warming up as he hit his target repeatedly in the practice area.
Chiyun is really getting into it. Mei-Mei commented.
It's because he knows what is at stake. Dashan said much to Mei-Mei's confusion.
Until now, Chao Xin has never BEEN serious. Also he hasn't ever faced me or Chiyun. So by watching Chao Xin and Akuma battle earlier, Chiyun realised he needed to give it his all for us to win the first round.
In the next match Chiyun isn't just facing his opponent Tsubasa. Chiyun wants to use the battle with Tsubasa to prove that he won't lose when everything is on the line. Dashan explained
The battle between Chao Xin and Akuma has lit a fire in Chiyun's bey spirit as well. Mei-Mei said.
By considering your allies' rivals, you work hard together and aim for even greater heights. This is a good thing for WHZ. However we cannot afford to lose; the only thing we are seeking in the next battle is the word: "Victory." Dashan reminded his team.
I know that, OK! That's why I want you to leave everything to me in the next match; I promise that I'll battle like I have never battled before! Chiyun vowed.
Chiyun… Mei-Mei awed by his determination.
When the battle is over today, as long as Lacerta is still spinning in the stadium, I won't have any complaints. I will carry the torch for the final battle. WE cannot lose this tournament. Beylin Temple is putting 4000 years of history on the line. There is only one place and that is first place! Dashan claimed.
I, Chiyun, will definitely WIN! He declared as Lacerta destroyed the stone target.
Meanwhile GGG was having lunch in their locker room as Gingka and Masamune munched their sandwiches.
So what kind of training were you doing? Gingka asked.
I was busting boulders and some old dude showed me how to break leaves. It was cool. I was swinging at them like a monkey- Masamune expressively said while flailing his free hand before Madoka interrupted.
Please talk or eat. Chew as well! You guys are so gross! Madoka berated the horse bladers as she and Hikaru were disgusted by their manners.
Anyone seen Tsubasa? Hikaru asked.
I'm pretty sure he must be out collecting his thoughts somewhere getting psyched up; he has an important match very soon. Madoka answered.
To be a champ, you have to eat a ton. Just look at me but if Tsubasa waits too long, Gingka will eat everything in sight. Masamune stated.
You should talk mister Chow how! Gingka retorted. What did you call me! Masamune yelled back as they started to count how many sandwiches they had eaten.
Unlike these guys I'm sure he's fine. The best thing we can do for him is just to let him be. Hikaru said.
Ten! Both said as they fought for the last sandwich.
Unbelievable… Madoka and Hikaru commented. Meanwhile Akuma was resting and ignored his teammates' antics.
So my opponent is Chiyun. He's different from Chao Xin. He specialises in attacks based on the form of martial arts he has perfected under Beylin Temple's strict training. Tsubasa talked to himself.
The wings on Thermal Lacerta's spin track which increase its attack power are a threat but he should be an easy opponent for me to beat. As long as I act calmly and do not lose sight of myself, there's no reason I cannot win against him. Tsubasa continued his self motivation speech but then he felt his heart skip a beat.
"As long as I remain calm." Tsubasa thought while having flashbacks to his loss against Kyouya. Remembering the moment, he could feel himself losing control.
Tsubasa quickly snapped out of his thoughts. Just my imagination huh? Not a problem; even if he isn't here I can do this! Together with this Earth Eagle. I will soar into the skies of the world! Tsubasa vowed.
The Chinese DJ hit the gong several times indicating the second match was about to start as the crowd rushed back to their seats.
Oh no, it's starting! Masamune panicked.
Let's go! Gingka ordered as everyone rushed back to the stadium except Akuma. Meanwhile WHZ just left their locker room except for Chao Xin who stayed behind, repairing his beyblade.
Time's up. Mei-Mei said.
We're counting on you Chiyun. Dashan said.
I'm ready. Chiyun ensured.
"I can't lose like Chao Xin did. I will bring out the best in Tsubasa but he's going down. The thing that divides the winner from the loser in the end is the determination to win. As long as one brings that focus and attitude to a competition, good things will follow." Chiyung believed.
Ok! Now here we go. This is the second match of the first round for the A Block of the World Championship. First to arrive is our WHZ own CHIYUN! The Chinese DJ announced as the crowd cheered loudly.
Go get him Chiyun!
Bring a huge victory!
Yes, yes, yes! Some of the fans shouted.
"I must win. I hold the fate of WHZ in my hands and my determination will not fail against him. There's only one place and that's first place!" Chiyun thought as he stepped to the stadium.
Meanwhile his opponent just arrived and the crowd was booing the Eagle Blader.
You can do this Tsubasa!
Give it your all out there!
Yeah if you win it's over. Who wants to watch Gingka battle anyway?
Just don't lose the match ok?!
Bring it home! Hikaru, Gingka, Masamume and Madoka cheered.
What happened to Kyouya anyways? Chiyun mocked.
What?! Tsubasa responded as he was not expecting that.
In Japan, you were defeated by Kyouya so why is that you're battling me as Japan's representative? I don't get it. Chiyun continued his smack talking.
Are you disappointed to have me as an opponent? Tsubasa questioned.
Not really, it's just-
It's just what! Tsubasa interrupted as his opponent was getting on his nerves.
It's just if you don't fight harder than your battle with Kyouya, you can't win against ME! Chiyun claimed.
Let's do this thing! Chiyun said as he readied himself to battle.
"Harder than my battle with Kyouya?" Tsubasa reflected back on the said match.
"Calm down, this is just the goofy teasing of an enemy who has no future if he loses. I won't let it affect me. I am who I am; I'm going to win using my own fighting style and he will understand the true nature of my true power! I'll show this guy that I'm not a blader who gives up now, not ever!" Tsubasa motivated himself as he set up his Eagle for battle.
So will Team GGG decide the entire battle with two wins in a row? Or will our WHZ hold the line?! Let's find out! DJ hyped up the crowd.
3,2,1. LET IT RIP!
Both beys clashed in the middle, sending shockwaves throughout the arena.
SOLID IRON WALL! Chiyun immediately started with a special move as Lacerta headed for the center.
Just as I expected. Entering a defensive stance first. Tsubasa muttered as Eagle circled around the stadium, waiting to attack.
What's Chiyun doing out there? He's just waiting like a sitting duck. Aren't you going to try to win?! Masamune commented out loud.
He's crafty. He's restricting his opponent's movements. As long as Lacerta doesn't make a move, Eagle can do nothing but circle it and decide when to attack. Madoka explained.
Tsubasa better be careful. Hikaru warned.
EAGLE! Tsubasa shouted as Eagle made its move, circling around the stadium, gathering enough high speed to attack Lacerta with a strong attack but Lacerta pushed Eagle back time and time again.
I see now. As long as Lacerta is the one defending, Lacerta's energy usage is kept really low. Hikaru realised.
Exactly and he can see which direction the opponent is coming from. So it is able to quickly react no matter what the attack. Madoka added.
So that means the more it attacks, the one that's using up all of its energy is Eagle? Masamune asked.
Yes and Tsubasa must see that's what's going on here. Madoka said.
Chiyun is maintaining a rock-solid stance as Eagle goes up against the Lacerta's Iron Wall of Protection and is no longer an Eagle. It's more like a tiny bird that doesn't understand its rightful place, targeting the great lizard that rules over the land! DJ commented.
That stance was perfected at Beylin Temple. Dashan stated.
It's the basis of all our techniques. Mei-Mei added. Meanwhile the crowd was screaming YES! Cheering for their home blader.
Is there anything that's not beylin related? Masamune was getting fed up by their constant reliance on textbook techniques.
Hey! What's the problem? Attack some more! Chiyun demanded.
Be careful what you wish for. If you won't move, then I'll just have to move you won't I? Eagle go! Tsubasa retorted as Eagle increased its speed.
There it is, making his move out there my friend. DJ shouted.
Now Eagle! Metal Wing Smash! Eagle rushed towards his opponent.
Too late! Thunder Sword Waltz! Lacerta dodged at the very last second as Eagle crashed into the stadium wall. Tsubasa grunted, feeling frustrated.
OK! Piercing Brink Strike! Chiyun continued with his barrage of special moves.
Stop it! Don't move Chiyun! Dashan warned. But his teammate ignored orders as Lacerta met Eagle head on and sent the purple bey into the sky.
This is what I've been waiting for. Let's go, SPECIAL MOVE: EAGLE DIVING CRUSH! Tsubasa boasted with confidence.
Oh? I get it! Eagle's attacks were actually gearing it up for a special move. It is brutal, sharp talents are really taking hold of Lacerta. DJ couldn't contain his excitement.

Nice one buddy! Masamune and Gingka cheered.
This is exactly what I've been waiting for. Chiyun said, not feeling threatened at all while Tsubasa realised he had fallen into a trap.
Go Lacerta! Tempestuous Whirlwind Sword! Lacerta countered Eagle's special move as the lizard slammed Eagle down to the stadium ground with its tail.
Oh baby! Eagle's special move was not enough to take the win! Almost! Eagle is still alive but just barely folks. Talking about Chiyun being a force to be reckoned with; he's so awesome, he anticipated Tsubasa's special move. That's the kind of blader we've come to expect with Chiyun. That's why he's one of Beylin Temple's strongest bladers! DJ showered Chyin with praise.
Amazing job Chiyun. Mei-Mei complimented, feeling proud of her teammate.
How was he able to see that far ahead? Even Dashan was taken back by Chiyun's performance.
Whoa, not bad I guess. Chao Xin said, getting impressed by the lizard's blader's skills.
My plan was to lead him into a trap but it completely backfired on me. Tsubasa criticised himself as he was breathing for air.
I am a Beylin Temple Blader and anticipating two or three moves ahead is what we do. It's especially easy to read the next move of a guy like you who battles by the book. Chiyun taunted.
What?! Tsubasa responded, feeling offended.
Keep this in mind; as long as you keep fighting so rigidly, you will never be able to win against me. Chiyun stated.
You kidding?! You think you can tell me how to fight! I have won many battles this way! Go Eagle, Counter Stance! Tsubasa yelled.
Give it up. The way you're going, it'll just end out the same way, you're never going to be able to beat me. Chiyun stated as Lacerta made another last second escape while Eagle left the stadium and soared high into the air.
Ah! He goes high into the sky once again! DJ commented with shock in his voice.
Ok Eagle! Smashing Claw! Tsubasa ordered as Eagle dived on top of Lacerta and used its momentum to fly back up and repeat its special move.
Attacks like that can't do anything to me, my friend. Chiyun mocked as Lacerta stopped Eagle's attack.
"I don't get it! Why aren't any of my moves able to break through his bey!" Tsubasa thought out loud.
How great! Looks like this match is gonna be ours. Mei-Mei confidently claimed.
Easy now, don't get too cocky. Wait until the enemy's power is completely drained before we know for sure. Dashan calmed down the substitute member.
Chiyun, start Solid Iron Wall again! Dashan ordered but Chiyun completely ignored his orders once again.
Go Lacerta! Chiyun commanded as Lacerta attacked head-on, not allowing Eagle any space to escape.
Are you still not getting it? You're holding back so much your defeat would be crushing at this point. Start showing some true passion and try to win this thing! Chiyun demanded.
The blader I really wanna battle is the Tsubasa in Japan who fought hard with Kyouya, no wait, try to show me even more than that time. At least then I'll really enjoy defeating you! Chiyun encouraged his opponent. But Tsubasa had no answer.
Whoa, did you see that spectacular offense? Totally different from before; no technique this time, just an all-out attack, ATTACK! DJ hype the crowd.
What an incredible drive! An unbelievable fighting spirit our Chiyun is heading for victory. DJ predicted as the crowd agreed.
Lacerta dominated as it kept barraging Eagle with powerful attacks while Eagle couldn't do anything.
Whoa! This is getting my attention. Chao Xin said as he couldn't stray away from the TV.
Chiyun! What are you doing!? Dashan demanded.
This way of fighting isn't like him at all. Mei-Mei worryingly said.
I know. In order to grow as a blader, he must start to think of allies as rivals and keep his head together under the pressure of battle. HOWEVER, for now the most important thing for us is a sure victory. Calm down Chiyun. Dashan disagreed with Chiyun's strategy but put his values aside as they needed the victory.
I must win now! Chiyun war cried.
This isn't good. This battle is turning one-sided. Masamune worriedly said.
Don't give up Tsubasa! Madoka encouraged her silver haired teammate.
What's going on?! Is this all you've got? Why can't you just give me the power you showed us when you had your battle with Kyouya? Or do you just not have it in you?! Chiyun questioned Tsubasa's battle spirit.
Stop talking, STOP TALKING! I DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT ANYMORE OF YOUR UPSETTING TAUNTS! Tsubasa screamed as the dark power returned.
Tsubasa, hang in there! Gingka tried to calm him down.
Not good. If he keeps taking big attacks like this, Eagle will be ruined! Madoka warned as she typed on her laptop.
There has to be something he can do? Hikaru questioned with fear in her voice.
It's enough Tsubasa, we already have one win. Don't push yourself! Masamune asked.
Interesting. Akuma muttered under his breath as a smile crept in for a moment.
As Masamune's words echoed in Tsubasa's mind he could feel his heartbeat skip a beat as he imagined himself back in the dark space.
It's enough? it's enough you say?! Tsubasa refused to believe it. And then an image of Chiyun appeared in his mind, taunting him.
"You lost to Kyouya didn't you?!" Chiyun mocked.
"That's right, I lost to Kyouya" Tsubasa admitted as his voice became more high-pitched and raspy.
"As long as you keep fighting so rigidly, you will never be able to win against me!" Chiyun's "taunts" repeated as Tsubasa doubted himself more and more.
"I can't, I can't win." Tsubasa admitted.
"If you don't fight harder than you did in your battle with Kyouya , you can't win against me!"
"I can't win, no I must." Tsubasa was torn, not sure what to do anymore as the darkness began to take hold.
"You will NEVER win."
But, I cannot LOSE! Tsubasa tried to put aside his doubts but the more he fought, the more he gave into the darkness.
"Chiyun will be the one to win." Chiyun claimed.
"No, AH, PLEASE STOP IT!" Tsubasa screamed in his mind as the darkness took over and turned his eyes red. A dark aura bursted from Eagle: a pair of menacing red eyes appeared within the dark aura.
I WANT TO WIN, I WILL WIN! Tsubasa hysterically shouted.
NOOO! Hikaru panicked as she collapsed to her knees.
Hikaru!? Don't worry I'm here for you. Madoka stopped analysing as she comforted her traumatised teammate. But Hikaru couldn't stop as Tsubasa became even more fanatic.
The darkness flew high into the sky before it consumed Tsubasa, filling him with dark power.
WIN, WIN, MUST WIN! Tsubasa posessively claimed as the darkness burned around his body. Meanwhile his team couldn't believe what was happening in front of them.
Suddenly a massive burst of power within Eagle bursted, sending strong gusts of wind in all directions as Eagle sent Lacerta flying back.
Hm, this is exciting. Finally this is the Tsubasa that I was hoping to battle with. Chiyun grinned.
Now it really means something when I take the win! SPECIAL MOVE: TEMPESTUOUS WHIRLWIND SWORD! Chiyun summoned once again.
DON'T MESS WITH ME! Tsubasa angrily shouted as Eagle stopped Lacerta dead in its tracks and pushed it back.
HERE'S YOUR PUNISHMENT FOR ALL THAT ARROGANT TAUNTING! TSUBASA roared as Eagle crashed Lacerta into the stadium's floor.
What's this?! Chiyun couldn't believe where the power was coming from as Eagle kept pushing Lacerta hard into the stadium.
What is going on here? Eagle has suddenly gotten a second wind! It's pushing Lacerta fiercely right back against the wall! DJ couldn't believe what he was seeing.
Ah! Lacerta, don't take that. Chiyun demanded his bey to stand its ground.
GIVE IT UP! YOUR LACERTA IS GOING TO HAVE TO SAY GOODBYE FOREVER! Tsubasa wickedly laughed as both beys pushed each other hard.
What's happening to you Tsubasa?! Gingka shouted, trying to reach him.
He's completely lost it! Masamune remarked as the others were lost for words. Suddenly some of them imagined Ryuga when he got possessed by L-Drago and the dark power.
Hm, what is it gonna be, Tsubasa? Akuma smilingly muttered.
Hikaru's panic attack was getting worse so Madoka decided to bring her back to their locker room.
Guys, I'll need to look after Hikaru! She can't handle any more of this! Madoka let her teammates know as she guided Hikaru back to the locker room.
Everybody nodded as they wished Hikaru the best except for Akuma who quickly glanced at Hikaru.
No, Chiyun, get out! Dashan ordered as his facial expression told the whole story, he was worried.
Chiyun..! Mei-Mei expressed her concern.
What's going on? Get it together! Chao Xin shouted at the TV screen.
No way! I'm not gonna lose this one. Losing is not an option here. Chiyun shrugged off his team's warnings as he remained firm in his beliefs.
In the end, the drive to win is everything. As long as I can hold onto that right now, then I can do it! Losing will not be possible! Chiyun displayed his drive to win.
DISAPPEAR, DISAPPEAR, DISAPPEAR INTO OBLIVION! Tsubasa screamed out of joy as the clash between Lacerta and Eagle had reached their breaking point as a massive explosion of smoke covered the arena and from the smoke, a bey got sent flying out of the stadium and crashed into one of the pillars. Completely stopped.
Which bey is it? Masamune demanded to know.
The one outside the stadium is Eagle! Can you believe it?! Eagle's wild rampage ends in a stealth stadium out! DJ announced as he almost fell off the railing.
Chiyun screamed worryingly as he looked down in front of him as a huge chunk of the stadium had been torn apart from their intensive clash.
The winner is… I can barely contain myself, Lacerta! Lacerta just barely remained spinning. DJ confirmed the win.
I won? Chiyun couldn't believe it.
That's right, the winner after an incredibly hard fought freaky battle is our own WHZ's Chiyun. DJ declared Chiyun the winner of the second match as the crowd screamed "Victory".
We managed to win after all. Dashan said, feeling relieved.
Yes. Mei-Mei agreed.
Whoa, talk about close. Chao Xin commented.
As they called out to him, Tsubasa turned around and collapsed to the floor. Gingka rushed as the other followed closely behind him to his side to check if he was ok but Tsubasa passed out from exhaustion.
The first round battle for the A Block in the BWCS between WHZ and GGG is now tied one to one. Although Chiyun's dramatic victory today was worth WAY more than 10 victories.
Will WHZ keep up this high energy and take the next match as well, oh yeah! DJ showed his bias as he held up the V sign with his fingers.
You better not lose Gingka. Akuma warned as he headed back to the locker room.
