Hey guys, here's chapter 4 of The Spectacular Spider-Vee. Be sure to turn email notifications on in your settings because this site resets it every six months (which is stupid). Before you read this chapter though, be sure to reread chapter 3 since I cut out something. Anyway, here's chapter 4.

It was another night in New York. Some nights were relatively peaceful, while others could be rather brutal with crime. Sadly, a lot of those nights fell into the later category… and this night was no exception. A pair of grown men in hoodies approached a jewelry store, the door's bell alerting the store's elderly owner when they walked in. The store's inventory ranged from pearl necklaces to gemstones, including but not limited to diamonds.

"What can I do for you boys, tonight?" the elderly store owner asked kindly, only for one of the men to pull a gun on him. The old man held up his hands.

"You can start by handing over the jewels, old man!" the man holding the gun said forcefully as his partner held out a burlap sack.

As quickly as he could, the old man tossed several jewels into the sack as demanded. Once the sack was full enough, the robbers bolted out of the store as quickly as they could. They two turned a corner into a nearby alley, making their escape. Or at least one of them did since the one holding sack full of jewels was suddenly and mysteriously yanked upward.

"This should make us a nice, small fortune, shouldn't it?" the robber with the gun asked his partner, only to receive silence in response. He turned around to see no one there, "Hey, where'd you go?"

Suddenly, a web came out of nowhere and yanked robber's gun away. The robber then felt a hard blow to the side of his ribcage that sent him through the air. The robber crashed into a fire escape, followed by being hit by a few web shots that made him stick to the fire escape. The robber lifted his head and saw his partner webbed up to the edge of the roof of one of the buildings beside him.

Meanwhile, the owner of the jewelry store was on the phone with the police.

"Yes, I would like report a robbery. Two men came to my store and stole a good portion of my—" the old man was cut off by a large sack landing in front of him on his counter, the sack of his stolen jewels to be exact. "…Um, nevermind," he said before hanging up.

The old man noticed there was a little card attached to the sack. The only thing on the card was a symbol of a little crimson spider with a purple gem in the center of its rear. The old man stepped outside to see just who it was that brought back his inventory. However, there was no one around. The old man just headed back inside.

Meanwhile, on the roof of the building stood a lone figure, the only thing being noticeable were their glowing golden yellow lenses. The figure then leaped from the rooftop, swinging between the buildings via webs.

Midtown High…

Camila pulled up to the front of the school, dropping off Vee as she normally did.

"So… any compliments on the new look?" Camila asked.

That's when two boys showed up.

"Hey Vee," one of the boys said.

"Looking pretty as usual," the other boy said as they both walked past the car.

"Heh. I may have gotten a few compliments here and there," Vee replied, a hint of embarrassment in her voice. It had been a week since she got her makeover and it had only taken a day or two for her to get attention.

"From all the boys, I'm guessing?" Camila said with a smirk.

"And maybe a few girls," Vee added, her cheeks turning red.

"Well, either way, it seems like this new look of yours has boosted your confidence a bit," Camila said, running a finger through one of her daughter's bangs, "Knock 'em dead, mija."

Vee stepped out of the car, closing the door with a tap of her rear. She waved her mom goodbye and made her way into the building. As she walked through the hall, she heard murmurs coming from the other kids around her. Something about a vigilante going around and stopping crime. It didn't take long for Vee to find her friends.

"Hey guys," Vee greeted her friends.

"Oh, hey Vee," Masha greeted back, "Hey, did you hear about what happened last night?"

"What happened?" Vee asked.

"Some guys tried robbing a jewelry story," Beth spoke.

"But then someone stopped them and was able get the jewels back to the old dude that owns the place," Lance continued.

"Did the owner see who it was?" Vee asked.

"No. The owner said the only hint the person left was a card with a little spider symbol on it," Vincent informed her.

A small smirk formed on Vee's face, one that went unnoticed by her friends. It seems rumors were going on about a masked vigilante beating up bad guys and saving people. It had only been a few days/nights and already this person was starting to get attention.

"I think it's pretty cool that someone is standing up to the local thugs around here. Someone has guts, I'll give them that," Lance spoke, a small smile appearing on his face.

"I'm curious to know how this guy is able to stop these criminals without anyone catching him on camera," Vincent said.

"How are you so sure the person's a boy?" Beth raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah. For all we know, it could be a girl, or a non-binary," Masha chimed in, "What do you think, Vee?" she/they looked at her/their blonde friend.

"Well, I—"

It was in that moment that the intercom went off, interrupting everyone.

Principal: Attention students, attention students. Your student council president, Hunter Wittebane, has an announcement to make.

Hunter: Students, due to the sudden appearance of a masked vigilante in New York, all after school clubs and activities will be canceled until further notice. That is all.

There was a collective groan from a majority of the student body. Fortunately for Vee and her friends, they weren't a part of any after school clubs, but it still sucked for those that did.

A blonde-haired boy then stepped out of the principal's office. He had brown hazel-colored eyes. He wore a black graphic t-shirt of a pack wolves underneath a yellow vest. He wore grey pants and black boots. This was Hunter Wittebane, the student council president. Upon leaving the principal's office, Hunter was greeted by a chorus of boos.

Hunter was a good president, having been mostly successful in the promises he made. New art supplies for the art room, better food in the cafeteria, new balls for the gym. However, despite all those positive things that Hunter had managed to pull off, there was one thing most people didn't like about him. He was more or less a stickler to the rules. He wasn't exactly a teacher's pet, but was kind of a boring douche.

"Huh. I kind of expected this from Hunter. Dude's gotta learn to relax and have fun sometimes," Lance commented, the others mumbling and nodding in agreement.

Time passed, it now being early in the afternoon. People were going about their business, usually shopping around stores or eating out with their families. A group of people was window shopping outside, when the shadow of a figure blurred by through the air. This was the same person that stopped jewelry robbery the other night. The figure soared straight into the air, doing a backwards somersault before landing on top of the roof of a skyscraper. The person had a feminine physique, the curves of her filling out costume, especially around the hip and chest areas.

"Another day after school, another day of stopping crime," the person said with their hands on their hips.

As far as she could tell though, there wasn't any sign of crime yet. She looked from side to side, when something caught her eye. A billboard advertising the next The Good Witch Azura movie. The girl's face fell behind her mask. Azura…

[Flashback]

"Done!" Luz said, putting the colored pencil down, both girls sitting at the kitchen table as they finally finished the design of their character.

"I think our character came out perfectly," Vee commented while looking at the now finished design.

Their character was of Hispanic/Latin descent like the twins themselves, and female. Their character wore a one-piece suit. The suit was black from the waist to the leg, as well as the arms, while the rest of the costume, including the gloves and boots, sported the both sisters' favorite colors without one overshadowing the other. Their character's costume was complete with a black domino mask, showing off her eyes.

"She looks amazing!" Vee smiled.

"Girl power!" Luz threw her arms around her twin, pulling her into a hug where their cheeks pressed against each other. "You know, I've always wanted to be a superhero," Luz commented.

"I thought you always wanted to be a witch like Azura?" Vee asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Well, yeah, I wanna be a witch. But unless there's some kind of magical door that leads to a realm where witches and demons exists, that dream is pretty much impossible," Luz said, releasing her hold on her sister, "Being a vigilante is at least more believable. Could you imagine it? Us, the Noceda sisters, a superhero, crime-fighting duo!" Luz said with the dramatic flare that she was often known for, making Vee chuckle.

"Heh. I don't think I would have what it takes to be superhero," Vee said, rubbing her arm sheepishly then took a second glance at their created character, "Especially with that mask. You know I don't like showing my eyes."

Luz rubbed her chin before a thought came to her. She took and yellow marker and colored in the part of the mask that showed their character's eyes.

"That better?" Luz showed the slightly altered mask to Vee.

"Yeah," Vee smiled.

That's when Luz's phone went off with a notification. Checking her phone, Luz gasped as her eyes instantly lit up like fireworks. Vee knew that look. That was the look her sister got when received good news about something she really liked.

"What's up, Luz?" Vee asked, somewhat curious.

"There's a new Azura movie in production!" Luz beamed, "Wanna go see it with me when it comes out?"

Vee snickered. If there was one thing Luz loved, it was Azura. And if there was one thing Vee loved, it was spending time with her sister.

"Sure, Luz. We'll get snacks, drinks, and we'll even see it in 3D if they have the option," Vee told her.

"Yeah! We'll have a blast!" Luz said with that same enthusiasm.

[End of Flashback]

"Yeah. A blast…" Vee muttered to herself.

She was wearing the same costume that she and Luz had design for the character of their story, albeit with a few minor adjustments. Instead of wearing a domino mask like in the drawing, Vee wore a mask that covered her entire head and neck. She used the golden yellow lenses of her sunglass as lenses for her mask, which was no big deal since she had a few backup pairs. The lenses were outlined by black. For extra assurance, she had added a hood which she had up. In addition to her outfit was a mini skirt… Masha had really gotten her into skirts. To complete the costume, around her waist was a belt with a large, golden yellow belt buckle in the shape of a spider.

Having years of experience sewing with her mom and abuela, it actually didn't take her long to make the costume. The hard part was keeping it a secret from her mom. Luckily for her, her mom tended to be at work when she while she worked on her costume in her room. The costume itself really hugged her figure quite well, it wasn't constricting or uncomfortable at all. Vee really outdid herself.

If only Luz was here to enjoy it…

That's when the costumed girl heard the sound of police sirens. She looked down to see several cop cars speeding down the street. That could only mean something big was happening. At first, Vee was only doing minor things like stopping muggings or stopping older kids from ganging up on defenseless little kids. The jewelry robbery was the first time she stopped an actual crime. This, however, could be something bigger.

"Well, here goes something…" Vee muttered to herself.

Vee leaped from the building, falling a few feet through the air before throwing an arm out and shooting out a web. She swung through the air as she followed the cops to their destination.

The police cars pulled up to their destination: a bank. Unknown to them, Vee had followed them via her web-swinging. Vee landed on one of the roofs across the street. It didn't take a genius to realize a bank robbery was in progress. Bank robbery plus a ton of cops equals hostage situation.

Vee took a few steps back before running. With a running start, the costumed girl leapt from the edge of the roof, soaring through the air. Thanks to her spider powers, she was able to leap farther than a normal human. When halfway across the street, she extended her arms and shot webs out her wrists to the edge of the bank's roof then zipped herself on top of it.

"This is the N.Y.P.D. Release the hostages and come out with your hands up!" the head police man said through the bullhorn.

While the police were negotiating the hostage situation, the costumed teen found the opening to the ventilation system. A short trip through the vents and she could see the interior of the bank from the ceiling. To the left were a huddling in both of the back corners were small groups of hostages. Both sets of hostages had two men each standing in front of them, each armed with guns. At the front of the bank with the door slightly open was a woman, the leader, armed with a gun as well. This meant there were a total of five armed robbers.

"If you don't meet our demands, we'll start killing hostages! People are gonna start dying if you don't listen!" the leader shouted to the cops outside.

"Not if I have anything to say about it…" Vee muttered under her breath.

Vee carefully kicked open the vent. She then triggered her invisibility and crawled along the ceiling. She crawled to the west corner to where two of the robbers stood. Vee extended her arm and shot an impacted piece of web at the floor. This got the attention of one of the robbers who investigated. He didn't have time get the attention of the other robbers due to being hoisted up into the air and being webbed to the ceiling, his mouth being webbed to silence him.

Vee dropped from the ceiling and shot out a web. With a swing, Vee kicked the other robber in the side, sending them flying towards counter, followed by Vee webbing the to the bulletproof glass.

"Who's there?" One of the remaining robbers asked.

"Come out or these people die!" the other added, both aiming their guns at the hostages.

At their request, Vee made herself visible.

"Hey… this is that spider freak I've been hearing abou—oof!" one of the robbers was cut off by Vee shooting an impacted web right where the sun don't shine.

The robber held his crotch and would've fallen over if it weren't for Vee shooting a web at his chest. Vee grabbed the web with both hands.

"Swing…" Vee shifted her weight, spinning the robber through the air in a circle before releasing the web and hitting the other robber, "And a hit!"

In that moment, Vee's spider-sense went off at the sound of a gun being cocked.

Flip

Vee leaped into the air, doing aerial cartwheel in time to avoid a bullet that was shot from the head robber's gun. Her spider powers had really made her more flexible and agile. In the brief time she was in the air, Vee took ahold of the robber's gun with webs from both wrists. With a yank, she pulled the weapon right out of the robber's hand. However, there was a loud bang when the weapon was taken, followed by a scream.

"AHH! My leg!" a random woman yelled in pain as she held her wounded limb.

Vee winced under her mask. She wasn't planning on that. Not wanting to waste any more time, Vee webbed the robber, tossing them over her shoulder and webbing them to the counter.

A few seconds later, the police burst through the door. They were surprised at the state the robbers, caught and webbed up. However, the person that did it was nowhere in sight.

"Hostages secure. Call in an ambulance, we have an injured victim," the chief of police said into their walkie talkie.

As this went on, an invisible Vee snuck past them through the front door via wall crawling. She web-swinged away, making herself visible once she had enough distance.

Noceda Residence…

Vee arrived home, having removed and hidden her superhero costume in her room. Her mom didn't get home until later tonight, so she had the house to herself for a while. That was probably a good thing since she was freaking out at the moment. Considering what just happened, who could blame her?

"Idiot! Idiot! Idiot! Why didn't you just clog the gun with your web and prevent it from shooting instead yanking it out of the robber's hand?! Ugh!" Vee yelled at herself as she paced around on the living room ceiling in nothing but her shirt and panties, "Damn it, I knew I wasn't cut out for this hero stuff! What was I thinking?! For all I know, that woman could lose her leg because of me! Ugh!" Vee groaned, ruffling her hair, "This was always Luz's dream! If she were in my place, she'd have webbed those guys, no problem! Why did she have to…?"

Vee paused, catching herself on the verge of tears. She shot a web, yanking her phone from the coffee table toward herself and checked the time. This was the time that her mom should be on her lunch break. Vee sighed and leaped from the ceiling, doing a flip as she landed on the couch. She found her mom's number and went to video chat. After a few rings, Camila picked up.

"Hola, mija," Camila greeted Vee through the video chat, only for smile to quickly fall, "Vee, what's wrong?" she asked, concerned as she saw the tears in the corners of her daughter's eyes.

"Nothing. It's just…" Vee wiped the tears from her eyes, "Some people were counting on me and… I let them down. A lot was expected of me and I messed up. I did everything wrong," she said rather vaguely, choosing not to go into detail of what happened.

"Hey, take it easy. Nobody's perfect, mija. Everyone makes mistakes; you're not always going to get something right on the first try," Camila said in a calm, reassuring tone, "Just give it time and I'm sure those people will forgive you. Just try not to think about this too much, ok?" she said with comforting smile.

"Yeah. Yeah, thanks" Vee said, giving a small smile of her own.

"Was there anything else you need, babé?" Camila asked.

Vee thought it over. Trying to fulfill Luz's dream had reminded Vee just how much she missed her twin. However, she didn't have it in her at the moment to say it. Instead, she decided to keep it to herself… for now at least.

"No, that was it," Vee replied.

"Ok. Well, te veré esta noche. Te amo, mija," Camila told her.

"Yo tambien te amo, Mamá," Vee replied before hanging up and ending the video chat.

Folding her legs, Vee grabbed her bowl of hamburger helper along with the remote and turned on the TV. Using the live tv feature on one of the streaming services, flipping through the channels. Until one of the news channels caught her attention.

News Reporter: Earlier today, a bank robbery was in progress.

"Aw, shit…" Vee muttered.

News Reporter: Five armed robbers held hostages while having a standoff with the police. Amazingly, the robbers had been stopped by a single individual, one capable of shooting what appeared to be webs. We have footage of the scene now.

Thanks to the bank's security cameras, it had recorded Vee taking out and webbing up the robbers. Fortunately for her, it didn't record an audio, so no one watching heard her voice. Sadly, it also recorded the part that she wished didn't happen.

News Reporter: One person had been injured, though it was nothing fatal. The victim is expected to make a full recovery. Last night, a local jewelry store owner had been robbed of his jewels, only to have them returned a few minutes later. The police had found the thieves webbed around the corner from the store, the only indication of this vigilante being a card given to the store owner, the card itself having symbol of a spider on it. Given the symbol, the webs, and the individual's feminine physique, people have decided to dub this local heroine "Spider-Girl".

"Spider-Girl?" Vee cocked an eyebrow, but then thought it over a bit, "Eh, generic… but fitting."

News Reporter: Here to give their thoughts on the vigilante, the heads of the Daily Bugle, John Jonah Jameson IV and his sister, Kendra Josephine Jameson.

J.J.: This "Spider-Girl" may seem like a hero, but her ignorance and incompetence caused one of the hostages to be shot. She did more harm than good! A real hero would've managed to stop the robbers without anyone getting injured!

Kendra: Yeah, there's no place in this world for vigilantes. Especially ones that no idea what they're doing. If Spider-Girl is a hero, then she's a lowly amateur!

Vee hung her head, taking a sad bite of her food. Great, her first time being on the news as a superhero and she already has haters.

"Nice going, Noceda…" Vee muttered.

News Reporter: Uhh… thank you, Jameson siblings, for your interesting input. In other news Wittebane Inc. has developed a new suit, one capable of giving the user the ability to fly.

And that's the end of this chapter. I had a little help with this chapter thanks to I Write Big.

So, if you're one of those that Hunter was going to be the Harry Osborn of this universe/story, you were right.
