Lauren held Bo's hand as she pushed again. She noticed her eyes changing colors from blue to gold. She knew this was the shifter in Bo being born along with their child and it was a beautiful sight to see.
"I'm here. You can do this Bo". Lauren kissed the side of her head. She imagined Bo did the same for her when she delivered Charlotte. The uncertainties of what was to come. But the Doctor in her marveled at everything she was seeing. Everything they were experiencing, as mothers again.
Bo gripped her hand tighter as she pushed for the final time. She roared loudly and the sound was followed by crying.
"Congratulations. It's a girl! Dr. Mahoney smiled as he handed her off to a nurse to clean. Lauren collapsed on Bo, and they both cried as they gently held each other. The Doctor forgot about Bo and pulled back.
"Bo are you ok? Lauren asked as she wiped her face with a warm towel that the other nurse had handed to her.
"I….I don't know". Bo spent some time adjusting to her new life. When Lauren had their other kids, she was already a shifter, a Succubus and everything else that came with the Una Mens seed.
"We need some privacy". Lauren said as she took the baby. She didn't look at her because Bo had not seen her yet either.
The staff left. Charlotte was violently fidgeting in Aife's arms.
"Bo doesn't want me to spank you, and I will if you don't calm down. Your getting hysterical won't help anything. Read your mother's aura Charlotte, she needs a little help. So be a good little girl". Aife spoke softly.
Charlotte purred a little and stopped. She did read Bo and Lauren's aura. Her eyes went wide when she read too far into them. She turned in Aife's arms and looked in the other direction. She squeezed her eyes shut and shook her little head. Aife rubbed her back and smiled. She knew what Charlotte had seen and damned if she wasn't proud of how advanced she already is.
Lauren stood and walked over to the window and pulled the curtains. When she asked for privacy, she meant it. The baby was still in her arms, and she walked back to Bo.
"It is a scary thing. I know that. It scared the hell out of me when I first found out that I was a shifter. I wasn't human anymore. Nothing about me would be the same again, except for the outside of my body and my hair. I know I blamed you for that. But I was the one that left. I was the one that ran. I ran for my life when my life was always with you. Granted I don't and will never forgive Dyson for his part, the better part of me should have confided in you. But at that point, I thought I knew what I was doing. I just needed to find a way to get out of Taft blackmailing me.
Anyway, we've gone down that road and it has led us here. To her. To them. To our family. That just got a little bigger". Lauren cooed at their baby girl.
"Can…Can I? Bo sobbed.
"Ohhh of course. I'm so sorry Bo". Lauren blushed in embarrassment.
Bo sobbed harder when their daughter looked up at her. Her eyes flashed their respective colors again. She shook her head to try and keep the blue out of her own eyes after remembering Charlotte's first experience with her Succubus. She felt so warm and innocent. She had no idea of the life that was in store for her, but her mother Succubus is determined for it to be a lot more stable than hers has been.
"Did you think of a name yet? Bo looked up at a teary-eyed Lauren.
The Doctor's eyes went wide. She hadn't been thinking of names. She felt like shit for not doing so too. "No Bo. I haven't. I'm so, so sorry".
"It is ok, Lauren. I have thought of one. One late night I looked up some names and settled on one". Bo smiled.
"Well we already have Charlotte, Ethan and Dillon. So, tell me gorgeous, what name did you think of? Lauren pushed a lock behind Bo's ear.
"The name I chose for her is Amani. It means desires and wishes. I have always desired kids, but that was always a wish of mine. When I didn't know who I wanted to have them with, yet". Bo gently bounced the baby in her arms.
"Bo that is beautiful. What if it had been a boy though? Lauren asked.
"He would have been given the same name. Since the same goes for him". Bo replied immediately.
Lauren walked around to the opposite side of the bed and kissed Bo. Their eyes flashed at each other as they pulled back.
"You need to feed". Lauren said quietly.
Bo gently pushed back on the bed and started to pull Lauren's chi. She felt Amani kick in her arms and soon stopped when she took enough.
"How are you feeling now? Lauren asked.
"Much, much better". Bo smiled looking from Lauren to Amani.
"Then we have some very anxious family outside waiting to come in". Lauren smiled as she walked towards the doors. She opened the doors and stood back as everyone walked in. She smelled soap and sanitizer in the air and knew they had all freshened up. The kids were in their human forms and looked adorable.
Charlotte was still in Aife's arms as the Succubus carried her to the bed. She tensed when they reached Bo.
"It's ok Charly. Meet your little sister". Lauren smiled as she took her from Aife.
She gently sat on the bed and lifted her high enough to see the baby. They all laughed when she roared a little.
"Not yet sweetie. She can't play with you just yet". Bo smiled.
Ethan and Dillon were next, and they did the same thing. Aife stood back with her phone and took a picture of the six of them.
"Text that to me, would you? Kenzi cried through heavy tears.
"You can come and meet her too Kenz, when you're ready". Bo smiled through tears of her own.
"No. No. There will be plenty of time for that. This is your time. I don't want to feel like a drive thru aunt when you just had your baby". Kenzi waved off from a small distance.
"She'll be waiting for you". Lauren smiled as she adjusted the blanket on Amani.
Kenzi nodded but kept her distance. She didn't know if she needed water or if she was going to pass out from shock that a baby legit came out of Bo. While anxious to see what she looks like, she kept her distance to allow more mother/sibling bonding. Ethan and Dillon looked curious. Charlotte looked like she was already on guard duty, with a hint of jealousy. The gang talked and laughed as they all got adjusted to Bo and Lauren's larger family.
Starting to feel awkward, Bo asked to be sent home. There was no need for her to be there since she was healed and there could be other patients that need her hospital bed.
"At once". Aife smiled as she called for Bo's doctor to return and discharge her.
Lauren gave her medical approval. She was well equipped to handle anything that could happen once they returned home. She could only imagine what Aife had planned. Probably thousands of diapers and baby toys. Like they didn't have enough as it is. She helped Bo clean up and dress after Amani was placed in her hospital crib. Lauren declined sending her to the baby nursery. Germs everywhere, she thought.
Once Bo looked as beautiful as a new mother could look, the trio emerged from her room and were greeted with thunderous applause. Bo refused a wheelchair and walked beside Lauren as she carried Amani out to a waiting car. They were gently helped inside and were driven home under a heavy escort.
Bo sighed when they pulled into their driveway. They were about to enter their home with a newborn. She laughed at the antics that she knew was coming. Hide and seek. Jumping over the couch. Toys strewn all over their playroom, and Amani wasn't even ready for all of that yet.
When they walked into the house, they stopped in the foyer to properly welcome Amani home. Fresh flowers were everywhere. They walked into the living room and as expected new toys were everywhere. Toys the other kids already had. Charlotte jumped from Kenzi's arms and shifted. She walked around the toys and looked up for Ethan and Dillon. The boys shifted and jumped down to join their sister.
"What are they doing? Kenzi asked.
"They're making sure her toys are safe for her to have". Lauren deduced. Charlotte was going from box to box.
"Nana can save you little badasses time, those toys were well inspected". Aife laughed.
"Mom don't curse please". Bo said softly.
"I was just telling them". Aife put her up her hands innocently and walked around with the kids. She bent down to show them when they struggled to see something.
"They need to eat soon, and you know what". Lauren said softly. Charlotte's eyes went wide reading Lauren's aura and she ran out of the room and up the stairs.
"It is my fault. I told her to read your auras earlier and I guess she's doing that again". Aife laughed.
"Then you can you know what her". Bo laughed.
Aife nodded as the boys checked all the toys and ran towards the dining room.
"Charlotte!? Time to eat! Lauren called up the stairs.
"Food but no bath". Charlotte mumbled as she walked down the stairs.
"I'm still shocked they can be in shifter form and talk so fluently". Bo laughed.
"And we will have another shifter talking and walking in a year or two". Lauren smiled holding Amani. She had blonde hair like hers. Bo picked a great name. She wondered what night and how long she was up looking for it.
She sighed. She had been angry with Bo for leaving her behind. But had she not this life they have now, may never have come to be. She remembered the moment she died. She wasn't even dead long before she was brought back. Bo had come for her with her chi. She had drained them to bring her back.
Lauren never wanted to leave Bo. As a human before she knew Bo, she never wanted to die. Bo brought her back from death and she has eternity with the Succubus and their children. She grabbed Bo's hand and squeezed hard. Bo returned the gesture and smiled.
They set down to eat and everyone ate their food. Amani was in a new bassinet in between Bo and Lauren. They both took turns attending to her as they ate. Charlotte glared at her last bite and looked to Bo and Lauren. She fidgeted when she was picked up from behind.
"Nooo mamas". Charlotte groaned.
"I am not mama, I'm Nana. It's time for your bath". Aife laughed as the young shifter kicked and screamed in her arm.
"She'll grow out of that". Lauren gently patted Bo's hand. She was still emotional from giving birth.
"I hope so and soon". Bo wiped her eyes with a tissue.
Lauren patted her hand again and looked to Amani. She had fallen asleep. She put a blanket over her and went back to her food.
"I love you Bo". Lauren said.
"I love you too". Bo smiled.
"I mean it. I love you. Yes, we have gone through so much. I know I was angry with you and I won't apologize for that. But I do love you for not giving up on me. Giving up on us". Lauren said softly. Ethan and Dillon sat across from them still eating their food. The mothers smiled at how big they were getting.
They caught them trying to peek looks at Amani. They weren't the oldest, but they were certainly going to be good big brothers. Protective brothers.
"Baby? Ethan said.
"Yes, my son, her name is Amani". Bo smiled softly.
"Amani". The twins giggled.
"Does that mean they like it? Bo laughed.
"It probably does. Their aura is innocent.". Lauren replied as she took the last bite of her food.
Bo made faces at them and they laughed at her. Dillon spit out some of his food and Lauren reached over and wiped his mouth.
"It's ok Dillon. We know you are enjoying yourself". Bo smiled.
"The royal Princess is clean". Aife laughed as she set Charlotte back in her chair. Her hair framed her little face and Charlotte pulled at her clothes. Pink top and black pants. She didn't mind the pants, but the pink was a bit much.
"She doesn't like pink". Bo laughed.
"Well when she is big enough to dress herself, she won't have to wear it. But Nana think she looks adorable". Aife laughed as she took a seat and a plate from Lauren.
"Let's bathe the boys and they can all play". Lauren stood as she nodded for Aife to stay with Amani.
Aife laughed realizing she was left with her granddaughters. Charlotte glared at Aife. She gave her a rough bath. She didn't feel dirty anywhere. She even brushed her teeth.
"Stick with me girls, and you will learn everything about being a Succubus. We can have lots of fun. But you are never to kill just to kill. Bo and Lauren won't like that. So, that part I won't teach you". Aife spoke softly.
"Mean". Charlotte groaned.
"You were dirty. I cleaned you". Aife laughed.
Charlotte rolled her little eyes when the Succubus wasn't looking and focused on her little sister. She jumped to another chair and looked into the bassinet. Amani was still sleeping. Her eyes changed colors as she looked at her. Aife set her fork down to watch.
She saw Amani glow like she was pulsing people and Charlotte roared a little. The Succubus figured it out. She was talking to Amani's Succubus and inner shifter. She was preparing them for their life. To not be afraid of the other. Something she herself had struggled with. She was also protecting her before she even knew what she is.
"Good baby". Aife spoke softly as she went back to her food. Charlotte stood where she was until Bo and Lauren returned with Ethan and Dillon.
"Ok! Go play! Bo cooed. Charlotte jumped down and ran outside when Lauren held the doors open.
"What did we miss? Bo cooed as she took a seat next to Amani.
"She slept the whole time. But Charlotte woke her up, a little". Aife replied.
"She what? Lauren asked.
"She woke up her shifter and her Succubus. I think she was trying to teach them how to co-exist". Aife explained as she sat back in her chair.
"Well that will save us a little time." Bo smiled as she turned to the windows and watched the kids running around. The boys were definitely getting bigger. They didn't need Charlotte's help with the small mound in the backyard anymore.
"I hope we have that on camera! Lauren perked up.
"You do". Aife pointed towards the newly placed security cameras in the dining room.
"So, how's she doing? Bo peeked at Amani.
"She looks like a sleeping baby. I don't want to wake her and subject her to lab tests". Lauren rubbed Bo's back.
"Okay. I trust your opinion Dr. Lewis". Bo smiled as she adjusted the blanket.
"She really is good Bo. If she wasn't, she'd be crying". Lauren took her seat and poured a drink.
"Hey, we haven't showered yet". Bo frowned.
"We can shower and be back in no time. You'll watch them right? Lauren asked Aife.
"Of course. Go ahead". Aife waved towards upstairs.
Bo and Lauren raced upstairs and immediately stripped. This was a rarity for them to shower together.
They gently stepped into the massive shower and washed each other. Not wanting to be away from Amani too long, they quickly washed, dressed and ran downstairs. They rounded the corner and found Aife holding her. The Succubus stood looking out at the kids. They were stretched out on the grass and resting.
"Okay. You had enough time yet? Kenzi asked as she entered the room.
"Yes. You can hold her now Kenzi". Lauren smiled.
"What's her name anyway? Aife asked.
"Oops we didn't tell them". Bo smacked herself on the head.
"Her name is Amani, it means…" Lauren started.
"It means wishes and desires. I know. I thought of that name, but I wanted to name my baby after my mother. It is a Succubus dream and desire to have her legacy carried on. Isabeau has done that for mom and me. She's more than carried on our legacies". Aife watched Kenzi play with Amani.
"Thank you Mom. I hope I do them justice as well". Bo smiled as she pointed to all of their children.
"You've done good Bo. You are doing well right now". Kenzi smiled as she took her eyes off of Amani for the first time since she was placed into her arms. Hale was busy with an emergency with one of their clients, so she had all the time in the world to herself.
She looked at Bo, Lauren, Aife and the kids and really realized she was the only human in the group. She knew that they wouldn't care about that. Lauren could certainly relate. But she was really starting to wonder if she wanted to live such a long life with them.
She couldn't imagine ever saying goodbye to Bo. This all started with a huge misunderstanding about Lauren but in Kenzi's defense, she expected a wolf and Fae like Dyson to know where Lauren was at all times. She expected him to man up and tell Bo the truth. She couldn't imagine Bo ever coming close to losing the Doctor again. This time her Succubus would be in control long enough to be satisfied that the danger and threat were gone.
"You are thinking about it, aren't you Kenzi? Lauren asked quietly.
"Huh? Thinking about what? Kenzi jumped out of her thoughts.
"You're thinking about becoming Fae". Lauren noted.
"What?! Really? What kind do you want to be?! Bo smiled.
"Well I haven't thought it through like that yet". Kenzi blushed in embarrassment.
"Well let's go through the log, we can probably find one like some of us are already. If you haven't decided by the end of the book, we'll drop the subject". Bo pulled the Una Mens log from a desk and hurried over to the couch and set it down on the coffee table.
